GLITCH the Best Base-Damage SWORDs & CROSSBOWs in Baldur's Gate 3.

The Steel Watchers are huge robots wielding heavy crossbows and two-handed greatswords. The crossbows do 4-31 base damage and the greatswords do 8-14 base damage on my level 11 fighters which have 20 strength and get plus eleven modifiers for both weapons. The glitch is that you cannot equip these normally. You must drag your currently equipped main hand weapon onto the square for the sword or crossbow to equip it. They are really heavy and will not allow you to use coatings. There are at least a dozen Steel Watchers which you can get to drop their weapons with disarming attack for lvl 3 fighters (battle commander) or the spell command - drop for clerics such as Shadowheart. Druids may be able to use the Heat Metal spell but I did not test that. You must disarm them before they get low health. At low health they explode and destroy their weapons. The Steel Watchers are around Wyrm's Rock Fortress and Wyrm's Crossing. They defend Gortash's fortress and can be found in Baldur's Gate in early Act 3.

You are right the big weapons glitch is patched. If you already had the giant weapons equipped prior to the patch they will stay equipped until you unequip them. Karlach still is using the Minotaur club for example after the patch.
