- In this video, a friend and I met up at a local racetrack to race his brand new 2022 Ford Lightning Electric pickup fresh off the dealership floor against my pretty heavily modified 2001 Ford SVT Lightning pickup. When it came out, the SVT Lightning was top of the performance truck heap. 20+ years later, in stock form, it would be no competition. The EV Lightning is much quicker than a factory SVT Lightning. But with the available mods for these trucks across the years, the original SVT Lightning trucks can be competitive. Which truck do you think will be quicker? I’ll take the gas Lightning, they’re more fun to drive… plus it’s a single cab with a flareside bed, which I prefer.
My thoughts too but it's kind of apples and oranges. If you need to run car seats or go off road at all, the EV is the choice.
I wouldn’t really consider the new lightning a “3rd gen” seeing as the SVT team is gone and their final was the raptor. But that’s my opinion
Eh. I see your point here but SVT made the gt500 and then didn't and they call that first and second. Somewhat similar there. Obviously ford wanted it to be a lightning or they would have called it literally anything else. Marketing guys. 🤷♂️

As a gen 2 ⚡ owner this is what I like to see. What are the mods done on it?
The gen 2 has a built engine and transmission, stall, E85 fuel system, 8lb pulley, ported Eaton, and drag radials. Thanks for watching and commenting!
