- Ford SVT Lightning vs Charger Hellcat, Solo pass, Ecoboost Mustang, and 5.0 Mustang GT racing at Orlando speedworld's quarter mile drag track making record hits. These are the first 1/4 mile passes on the new build so there's improvement to be made and more to come!

Had an 01 lightning. Living in Minnesota, it had way to much power for icy roads. Only drove it for 5 months out of the year. Never really used the speed. Sold it to a 20 yr old kid that did a bunch of after market stuff to it. Invited me to the Litchfield Mn drag race track where he raced it. He was 10 and 0 until he met a rice burner that just barely edged him out. So proud of that truck. Built Ford tough.

I sure miss my lightning it was a 2002 true blue lightning it had the Whipple supercharger dual overhead cams it was the upgrade by Patriot heads.. 527 lift Crower cams Manley valve springs manly & h beam racing rods. 80lb injectors dual walbro fuel pumps. 102 mm mass air flow. I'm trying to think what else I had it had tons of s*** 980truehp.. pretty badass truck I miss it a lot.. there was nothing stock about it

Hey Debtlife projects, i have a 2004 SVT lightning and thinking of camming it. Do you recommend camming of no? Also what are the mods on your Lightning? Thanks in advance.
I personally wouldn't do cams, unless your going to also build the motor, or at least put new rods/pistons, but may as well build it if it's coming apart. For the cost in labor, it's not really worth doing just cams, can't really utilize them or the power range they provide unless you build it, so money is better spent elsewhere. I have a video of the best mods to do to a stock block truck, check that out.
As far as what's done to mine, a lot lol 😅 if you watch my latest dyno video, after the dyno runs, I do a full build overview of all the mods I have on the truck.

I had one that I ran all over Florida. It was built by SuperStang (now UPR) that my best was 10.88. Nice truck, check out UPR their geniuses when it comes to these.

@@DebtLife_Projects This is literally my goal here is just to be able to keep up with or beat hell cats. I have a HD, it's quite a bit heavier then a lighting but hopefully with this built block and heads I can get to that point.
@@DebtLife_Projects Funny thing....I'm still waiting on my lighting to come back from JDM. I sent it out there in June but couldn't wait, so I bought a new Hellcat. I told them that it better beat the dodge when I get it back.

At the time of this video, built longblock (forged bottom end, ported heads, stage 2 cams) ported stock blower at 13psi, supporting bolt ons, low timing/safe tune on 93. Ive done a lot since, should be low 11s now on the stock blower, for now 😉 a lot more to come

That's already been addressed in the pinned comment at the top. I edited them out, seeing as at the time, I was grudge racing for money, and didn't need people knowing what I ran. It's been so long now, and everything's different, that I can say it ran 11.9@113 against the hellcat, and a best of 11.7@117 overall at that time. It's much faster now.

Best was 11.7@117, averages high 11s. That's on a crappy radial and all stock suspension. It now has full adjustable suspension and better radials, should be mid-low 11s

Extra bonus trapped in evacuation I escape driving in the grass along the side of the Hwy when all Hell breaking loose. I got gas in college station. 30 hrs from Galveston.

I really miss my lightning my engine blew twice before I found out that johnny lightning programed a 2001 chip for my 2000 lightning my first chip was great lots of wins including the finals at fun ford weekend but I decided to try a different combo with 410 gears and a new 3 stage chip big mistake which caused a massive explosion 7: rods and Pistons twice before Johnny said I dunno oh it's a 2000 not a 2001 which I had all swapped to 2001 specs except computer it ran 12 5 on street tires and chrome rims in street trim much faster with slicks and skinny front tires but it's

Hey, is there a reason you don’t load up boost while launching? Might be mistaken, but it seemed like you were leaving at like 1.5k rpm.
Yup, on the stock wheels/street tires all it does is spin if I leave on any boost or more rpm. Those are just all seasons , and those with 500+ whp don’t work out too well lol 😆 but now that I got a drag pack (slicks and skinnies) it should be a different story! I’ll be going to the track soon, so keep an eye out for that video

No worries, I try to reply as often as I can! Congrats on ur truck! Make sure you have longbars, those will help a ton with traction AND keep you from popping your driveshaft, but I went with 15” race stars in the back with 325/50-15s and 17x7 in the front (street setup) and 17x4s for the track. There’s a recent video going over my setup

I dont like when the lightning races a car I think the lightning should only race trucks.
One of the beautiful things about a 2nd gen Lightning is that they are old trucks now, and they're still faster than most cars that are currently being produced. Race whatever it is that you drive against whatever you want to race it against. Open your mind.
