Good job. You explained very clearly your methods. I respect the effort you put into the preparation before painting
Thanks! We figure all the extra work will pay off long term.
This is just satisfying
It seems quite dark! Yet looks really good! Great job. I'll be doing my garage right away
U can choose the color u want and add confetti to your choice. This guy went above and beyond prep work. Its easy but the process is long. All I can think of is getting the mix to patch concrete. Mixing then after proper dry renting sander which is heavy and another trio to the store, then get it back to the store asap $ clean and let dry again, then patching smaller with the quick patch. Omg at this point I just want to paint now 😆. Had to take a week long. Prep work is key to a long lasting floor - good job
great job man
Looks really nice
+Janice Napoleon Thanks! We are still surprised when we go into the garage and see the nice looking floor.
Best video I’ve seen yet as far as prep. My slab is on par with how bad yours was.
I had a lot of anxiety about sealing the concrete and finish chipping due to cracks and moisture underneath, but has held up great over several years.
Nice job
+I-upcycle Reclaimed Wood Thanks!
Nice
From start (cleaning out the garage to final walk on) to finish...HOW MANY DAYS was this project?
Total cost and time spent to do this job would've been helpful facts. Also, does the floor get slippery when wet? I ask because live in the North East (snow and much rain). Thanks.
he looks like Jack Nicholson in that movie the shinning,"here's Johnny" lol
I usually get Jack Black but The Shinning is a great movie.
Your prep work was top notch 👌. You mentioned easy but I don't think by this video Most DIYers notice the time it takes with renting sanding waiting for proper dry. The video was so quick and u made it look easy but driving back and forth amd waiting for proper cure , this probably took over a week to do?
Ya, you are correct! Easy probably means doable if you a committed. We also rented a box truck for a week to store everything in the driveway.
how slick is it when its wet? Considering doing this in my shop/garage, but i will end up getting some oil and water on it over time and just wondering how slick that would make it? i love the look of it tho, yall did a nice job on it. great work
Brilliant. You were patient and thorough. Great job dude. Great video
That stare in the beginning had me nervous.
The garage floor not filthy, but you sure are. Thanks for the video
Happy to help!
Nice job I really like it. How much does something like this cost? I wouldn't have to do the concrete patches but everything else I would.
By the time we rented the concrete grinder and purchased all the products the project cost totaled around $1000. Also, the box truck rental added up fast.
Thanks for the info.
Hey there! Did you not need the etch packet? I am thinking of doing this on my basement even though it’s not a garage and the etch step involves a hose which I’m hoping to avoid...
+Brian Balthazar We didn't have to use the etch packets because our slab was very porous and had no previous coating. Plus, we ground the surface which opened the pours even more. You can test if you need to etch by pouring some water on the concrete slab and seeing how fast it absorbs. If it absorbs right away the etch isn't necessary.
thanks so much for the quick response!
How does product hold up to gas/brake clean/oil/chemicals?
+WELLDONECJ7 so far it has held up great for paint, gas, chemicals and impact from me dropping tools.
Nice job but do you think priming the floor before applying the metallic epoxy would've prevented the bubbles?
+Allen Ricafrente Sr I think yes. I haven't seen any examples that convince me either way, but I'm interested to learn what your results are.
You definitely have to primer first. Trust me. Been there done that and what a disaster it has been.
How long did you let the concrete repair dry before epoxy?
We let it dry a week. Mainly because it was easier to work on over the weekend.
Hey 😀 ! It's jack black! 🤣😂😅😄
How much was the concrete grinder
The air pockets were caused by the concrete venting. You can prevent this from happening by applying the coating after the concrete begins to cool (Later in the evening).
Rocksolid’s instructions state to apply at either 8am or noon based upon daily temperatures.
Yes it's nice if you don't drive your cars in the garage. Will it hold up?
So far, it has held up. We don't park both of our cars in the garage but we do pull one car in. Also, I tend to have butterfingers and drop tools on the ground a lot without the floor chipping or scraping. I'm sure no system is 100% but we are happy with it.
Gray House Studio Looks great! Have you had any problem with it being slippery when wet. Looking to do my 24X50 garage. Is it still holding up well. I think a lot of people don't do the proper prep work and they have problems. Thanks for sharing.

would this work in a basement?
It should. Our garage had moisture issues, due to foundation work and this actually sealed it so we don't have any moisture coming through any more.
So help me understand: you did the Moisture Stop BEFORE cleaning the surface AND patching cracks? I know all the steps I need to take, I'm just a little fuzzy on the order. I need a Moisture Stop like product, I obviously need to thoroughly clean the floor, and I need to repair cracks. Where does the acid etching fit in to this?
+Scott 15 I failed to mention the etching or cleaning because grinding the slab opened the pours of the concrete and cleaned the surface. If your slab doesn't absorb water it would need to be etched or ground before applying the moisture stop. Hope this helps. Let me know if you have more questions.
How long did this process take you?
We did it over one weekend. It took the longest to clean out the garage. We actually rented a box truck to store everything in our driveway for the weekend.
Gray House Studio how has it held up now that it’s been about 3 years?
Did you say that you used 6 kits???? That's like $1200 bucks, if i am hearing you right. I thought each kit would cover a 2.5 car garage?
+William Grieshober The Rocksolid product we used says each kit (one box) covers 125sq/ft and are $104 per box. Our two car garage is almost 500sp/ft which is on the bigger side for a two car garage. So, we needed at least 4 boxes but got six just to be on the safe side. Rustoleum also sells a Epoxy that comes in a kit that cover a 2.5 garage for $200. It doesn't have the same finish as the Rocksolid but seems like a great value.
The two pack case says it covers 450-500 , cost is 180 on Amazon 214 at lowes. It covers about 400. With this guy's awesome prep work im sure it sucked up most of the product. I figure 5 bags did the job but the extra bag didn't hurt.
How long is the trying time between coats
The garage floor coating actually only needed one coat. It is applied thick and self levels.
@@GrayHouseStudio ok trying time is how long

Hows the floor holding up, I hear and see so many UA-cam Videos on how horrible this product is when it comes to longevity. It's also a lot of prep work and Expensive Material. I figured I might go with some no slip sanded patio paint better then to go through all the work just to have my product fail Months or a year later :o/
Thanks for sharing the video.
It is really expensive. The floor holds up really well over cracks where moisture was seeping through the surface. It also hold up really well for car tires and we love how easily it makes sweeping. The downside that I imagine everyone is talking about is how the glossy smooth finish scratches. There was a rock on the ground and I slid a box on top of it, by accident and later found a really long scratch where the rock was. I’m not sure how any finish would hold up against that. Luckily it can polish and it didn’t scratch down through the finish.
i had the issue with the air bubbles too !!! how do i avoid that?? just popping while the are wet would have done the trick ? please help
Popping them while they are wet seems to work. If you aren’t able to get to them I was also able to wet sand them down and buff/polish the surface.
Was the vapors of rock solid bad
Honestly, there was almost no smell. We had the garage doors opened but didn’t see in the safety instructions anything about a respirator.
@@GrayHouseStudio instructions mentioned warnings
Thanks! I guess I need to go back, re-read the instructions, and add that to the video.
Video was very good but not sure about that color on the floor. 🤷🏼
Nice review! Can you sound any less disinterested though?! :)
Haha! It is a daily struggle. We were joking that the audio is me trying to sound enthusiastic. I still need some work.

Gray House Studio this is a great video! Did you have any pits/smaller craters in your floor not covered by the patch kit? If so, how did the RockSolid do leveling them out? And did it require significant amounts of product to do so? I ask because I have many pits in my garage floor and I can’t imagine having over 100 patches.
Thanks in advance for your time!
Also ... did you end up with extra product left over?
And did you find putting a thicker coat on significantly impacted cure time?
Thanks again!
Damn, it cost over $1,200 to paint a garage floor yourself ?
I don’t think it was that much. You can get two kits from Home Depot for $258. I am sure it would cost a lot more it I paid a company to cost the floor.
Yep, the Rocksolid product is 3x the price of normal concrete paint and claimed to be 20x stronger than epoxy. And epoxy is stronger than normal concrete paint!
