Just did a floor today. Well sanded yesterday, etched and cleaned today. Goin to try with this same type epoxy for a dude. Have not done any. You tube had saved me alot of headache. Thanks for upload.
I used the same product last summer, and couldn't be happier with the results. One word of advice: Get the clear coat!! It makes all the world of difference, it makes the floor much more durable. gives it a great gloss and leaves the floor looking professional instead of DIY.
We're finally buying our dream home w the 2 car garage that I've been wanting after over 10yrs of just a long driveway and a shed for the bikes. Your video shines light on the fact that I could do this DYI project. Thanks for sharing you did an amazing job!! 🤙🏾🤙🏾🤙🏾
Hey bro, watched a couple of epoxy applying videos the past few days and yours was definitely the best one, just got done with my garage and I wanted to thank you real quick. Followed your steps and got great results. My garage literally transformed! Thanks again
This is great stuff. I just had a guy come to the house and wanted 2500$ but when i looked at your video I know I can do this myself. Great job thanks for the posting.
This is my project today where I have done all the prep work including using the cement patch on nicks. Today I do the paint and I will follow your excellent routine. Thanks for taking the time to educate the rest of us.😀
This video shows that the performance of these coating are all in the prep. Honestly the kit used is an inferior kit but the fact it has held up for at least a year tells you the prep was done well. I used a Armor Garage kit with the mil spec top clear coat which costs at least 3 times as much as this kit. The clear coat adds a glossy finish to it but it still anti skid with the additive. My floor has been coated for 8 years now and no peeling. Prep process was similar to what was shown here and total tile from prep to cars back in was a week. Good job on the DIY
Great video I’m getting ready to do my laundry room floor and watched a “professional “ job done, and it scared me so much that I considered returning epoxy and just getting concrete paint. Thanks for making it look possible.
Well I did it! I’m happy with results, not a perfect job but there is a learning curve right lol. Anyone planning to tackle this the one thing I would do differently is I would apply clear sealer with skid proof additive. A few weeks after I discovered a tiny bit of water dripping from a pipe and it’s created blemishes in floor ( very small so at this point I’m not clearing it out and fixing, yet). Lastly make sure you’re keeping your coating consistent , at the end I had a lot of product left so I began putting it on heavier and you can see the unevenness. But again this is a great video, good product would 100% recommended and may use it on my screen porch someday.
Good job! I just did the same project. I also did the clear coat, which I highly recommend. but you have to do it within 7 days. The preparation is the key.
It looks beautiful! We are moving into a small new build in a few months and this is one of the first projects I want to do! You have a wonderful of teaching us how it's done and instilling confidence. Thank you!
Thank You for your video brother. This is the best example of how to properly use the product. I feel a lot more confident now that you've made the process seamless.
Liked your video. Might try a hand of it on my basement. One thing I did notice at the end of your video you had your car up on Jack stands. I wouldn't take the chance on just having the jack stands on it that it may damage it. Cut a one by one square of 3/4 inch plywood and place it on the ground. Maybe you haven't had any damage but still the possibility is there and it's a cheap remedy.
Looks nice. But really should be done with a diamond grinder to get the correct csp for the epoxy to adhere to. That way it won’t delaminate over time. Have to grind the edges with an angle hand grinder. Acid wash and sand isn’t enough for prep and prep is most important for the longest lasting results. End result should be more like a glass than a paint. That being said it did come out nice. Stay safe!!!
Whenever you're removing an existing coating, you are much better served to rent the coating removal tool vs the dimabrush prep tool @ Home Depot. The removal tool has only 10 blades, which is more than 1/2 the metal grinders than the prep tool & does a much more aggressive job removing the existing coating as well as prepping the concrete slab simultaneously.
I would be interested to see how long the floor lasts before it starts to delaminate. Diamond grinding is absolutely the best way to go. If there is any paint left on the surface at all, I can virtually guarantee it will peel at some point. I replace floors on a daily basis that were acid etched. Most manufacturers sell the acid etching because it’s easy, but not very effective. I absolutely understand you were simply following directions. You did a great job on your install.
Appreciate the feedback! the floor is currently holding perfect and to mention I work on cars all week with jacks, oil, fluids.. I love how so far its holding on with no issues!
What are your thoughts on doing the same kit on virgin concrete (new building - waiting about 2 months after it has been poured)? Do you need to rent the diamond grinder or it is already rough enough?
@@ZachTate My stance would always be to diamond grind the concrete. The best way to assure your coating will never fail would be to grind and scratch the surface with a diamond. I have replaced too many floors over the years that other people have installed because they didn't think it needed to be grinded.
@@ConcreteFloorSolutions Fair enough! :) Cheap insurance, that is for sure! One more question if you have time. The people putting up the barn had a hydraulic line break on a lift and got some hydraulic oil on the concrete. What would be the best way to deal with this to make sure I do not have pealing issues down the road?
@@ZachTate there are no guarantees with oil. what I would recommend is aggressively preparing that area, a shot blaster would be helpful. Apply a primer designed for oil contamination concretefloorsolutions.com/product/cfs-820-oil-stop-primer-2-gallon-kit-black-only/ Then apply your coating system on top of that. concretefloorsolutions.com/product-category/epoxy-floor-kits/
Great work. I think prep is the key and you took your time with that part. I've been looking into epoxying my garage floor and one thing I've run across is that more people seem to be content with Rustoleum Epoxyshield whereas the Rustoleum Rock Solid seems very hit or miss.
Really helpful for use of Rust-Oleum epoxy shield. One of the best videos about that. I applied ours a couple of days after watching this. It is a ton of prep work for sure. But it looks great and hopefully will last a few years. I had considered the professional version that Rust-Oleum makes but for the work that I do in the garage I decided against the professional, solvent based product. Plus the basic epoxy shield has been sold for at least 20 years, I would guess. I am going to use parking mats under our car and truck tires though just in case. I don't want to risk hot tire peel after all this work. Thanks again for your video. The most helpful one for my project!
Christopher: from what your floor looked like a significant improvement. One item I believe you should done was to roll your paint in a W and M pattern instead of up and down.
Brother great job ,would love to do this to my garage. I have a double car garage as well. Just notice you did include pricing on materials from beginning to end, would love to find out how much I'm I looking to spend, would be helpful.
First off TY for this video, still very relevant today! Real quick, anything you would have done different with the floor now that some time has passed? ty in advance!
Thanks 👍 a lot for your video. It is the best video in concern to Epoxy floor. I am on a mission to convert my double garage to a mini theatre . Thanks buddy
Looks awesome good job. How many kits did you use and how many coats? I got 250 sq feet (1 car garage) and I’m wondering if just one box is enough. Thanks!
Please provide a review on that concrete grinder. Before using the concrete grinder to remove the old floor coating, did you research paint thinners and epoxy removers? Why did you feel the grinder was a better choice?
My floor really needed the grinder.. I also recommend it it's like having a fresh piece of concrete you get to really remove everything like grease and any epoxy.. You can go the other route but with the machine I rented it came out great and so far it's holding on amazing! I work on cars so I'm using jacks etc and still no peal for now..
I just built a house so concrete is fresh, I assume i dont need to rent that sander?? I got them gloss gray, but had them tint it charcoal. Did your find the kit came with enough flake? 2 small bags dont seem like enough. Great video man! Appreciate the work!
with fresh concrete I think you can get away with just etching the floors and if you want a lot of flake I would recommend getting more bags! Thank you so much for watching!
Fast forward to now, has any of the coating pulled up, chipped, etc.? This is a super cheap option, but you get what you pay for. Curious to know how it's holding up. My new house needs this for sure!
Thanks for making this video! I appreciate you sharing the Amazon link to the kit you used. Are there any other products you used to complete the floor besides the kit and if so can you list/link them? I want to make sure I have everything I need to do my floors.
Nice video how is it holding up? My floor was painted when we got our home but it all started to crumble and wear out. I’m not sure if the previous owner did it correctly. I did read that you will need to pain it every few years or reseal it because it wears out through time.
I just got my house man so I want to do this to my garage, the floor is pretty new would I still have to scrape the floor with the machine, floor it’s never been painted it’s nice and clean. Maybe just some degreaser and power washing? By the way looks awesome man
yungmexican32 I may not be necessary but I would still recommend doing a moisture test degreasing the floor and also etching the floor with the acid that it comes with besides that you should be good to go. 👍🏼
We did our floor yesterday and it looks beautiful. I’m just wondering if we need to put a clear coat over it. How is yours holding up without the extra clear coat?
It all depends if the floor was coated before. If it was you need the machine I used. Which I rented from homedepot. If it hasn’t been painted or epoxied you can get away with just pressure watching degreasing then etching and then laying the epoxy down. Hope that helped.
Wow you did a ton of prep work prob the most I’ve seen in any video I watched. You grinded, power washed multiple times, used a cleaner and etcher AND an acid mix wow lol. I was surprised after you did all that you didn’t do a double coat or a sealer. I also think it’s better when you use more flakes to where it’s basically covering the whole floor, looks really cool that way. Great job though for your first time hope it holds up for a long time 👍
Are your walls sheetrock? Afraid to pressure wash my garage cause 2 walls have sheetrock almost touching the floor. Maybe protect it with plastic? Dont know.
One question.. how did you remove the blue tape after you finished?.. another Question, when the floor has a drop or is not even, would the material correct that? Thanks bro nice job, I'm ready to do mine
the material does not correct itself! so you have to make sure you put an even coat! and I just waited the floor to dry the 3 days then I removed the tape
Nice job. I'm not sure if you still need the acid wash/etch if you used the diamond brush... Isn't the whole point of that thing to scrape off the top layer?
Great video. Mine starts tomorrow. Quick question. Did you do right up to where the garage door closes so that you could close the door while each coat dried?
I left the garage door open a bit for 48 hours and block it with some wood so dust wouldn't come in and I painted everything and left through the house door. Good luck!!
Good question, I had gotten everything in advance and didn’t think of it until I was already sanding so I just left it as is. But if you can and have the time definitely cover all the cracks for a proper job!
Hey Chris thanks for the video I just finished doing my two car garage with your help. I noticed you only opened one epoxy bag did you ever get to use the second one? I had a whole bag left over wondering if I was supposed to apply it thicker.. lmk ty
Heck of a lot of work. Looks professional, nicely done. I noticed a black floor trim on one wall, looks great. Should carry over the other walls with that floor trim. Does it irritate the wife at times that you’re such a perfectionist ? Lol Thanks, nice work.
Just did my two car garage with the grinder from home depot because there was an old sealant on it. Dude it is no fucking joke. I'm a 5'2 woman with a rotator cuff injury from boxing and I was DEAD after using that grinding/pressure wash method lol. But it's definitely worth it long term. Thanks for this video!
What a good content thanks for sharing, so it’s been a year since you did the epoxy, question is, it last long? Do you usually park car inside the garage? Hot tires was an issue or not ?
Hey Bro , amazing video thank you for giving me the inspiration to try this next week. Few questions, I noticed you had some cracks in your floor. Did you fill those before applying the epoxy? Did the epoxy fill the cracks? I have similar cracks in my floor.
Great video. How was the amount of the product used? Some are saying that one would need more paint to complete the process than what is advertised on the box. Can you comment on that?
I watched this video a few times already. I am planning to do my garage floor. How is your floor looks like now? Any damages or color changes? Do you have any advice for me that you could have known beforehand?
Hey Christopher, its been a year and a half, Hows the floor looking now days? Im about to pull the trigger on the same floor kit and want to see how its held up. Can you make a small update video?
@@michoacanohh2227 me either Rust Oleum kits not so good same with their kitchen counter kits. I found a MUCH better way to do perm counters with a heavy , nice shiny thick epoxy you put over far superior & for floors too they are junk. I bought a rubberized paint comes in 4 gall buckets a bit pricey but worth it. It’s self leveling then I bought 5 pounds of blue black & white paint chips I got 5 pounds for 39. Rust oleum wants 18.99 for ONE POUND !! Amazon has the chips they are straight from a cement co & I bought tubes they look like caulk but they go in the expansion joints before you paint you just smooth them out all much better than Rust Oleum kit.
I did this same process TWICE. First application lasted about 3 years. Did it again and that lasted about 3 years. You HAVE to mechanically grind the top layer to properly prepare it - possibly acid etch it before applying the epoxy. Finally bit the bullet and had it done professionally to the tune of $5000 for a very deep 3 car garage. It came out great and will never have to be done again.
Excellent video and took a lot of pressure off of me coz I was little hesitant to take up this project on my own. But after watching you do it, I am quite confident that I can do it. 1 quick question: did you have any cracks on the floor and if so, how did you handle that? Thanks a ton.
Great job, the only comment I have is a concrete diamond grinder would have been better, to get the rid of the low spots and the remaining old coating which might case an issue later due to bonding.
Cement may look dry, but it takes several days to actually dry out. Fans help and heaters to help evap water. Cement is very porus and holds water like a sponge. Allow at least 4 days to dry.
Good job. About to so this next week. Still have to fix the cracks and chips on my garage. Hope this holds up , my garage is exposed to the sun .Wish me luck. By the way i need your engine for my project🤣
Hi,did you apply any thing else on the top when the chips were added or leave it as it is,and if we have to apply anything on the top what would you recommend.
@@ChrisGoorbarryYou certainly did brother. Gave me a bit more motivation and confidence. So far since thoroughly vacuuming, I've gotten through the concrete cleaning stage and just a hour ago completed etching. Gonna leave it to dry for 24-48 hours. Then for the fun part. It's a good work out though eh WOOOO ! I've done a fair few calories this week for sure. Will be painting all the walls too. Then after that, some serious shelf organization.
cool video, I have 3 questions if you or someone would kind to help: what if garage f'oor is slopped towards a drain? will the epoxy run off the concrete ? what if you have repaired cracks, does the epoxy hide it all? what if your concrete is cracked heavily, and/or bucketed towards the the wall do you just use leveling cement and use epoxy?
What about a primer? I hear people put primer on for cracks so that it may seal and doesn’t create some pocket holes. Either way garage looks clean. I just bought a 2 1/2 car garage bundle that I need to work on this weekend. Video helped, thanks 👏🏼😔

Great job though for your first time hope it holds up for a long time 👍
It’s still in great conditions! I think prep is the most important step! And I wish I would’ve done a gloss coat on top to make it even more shiny
Oh im sorry bud I just seen that you did do the acid wash its important I do this for a living and the power washing g is as well
Are your walls sheetrock? Afraid to pressure wash my garage cause 2 walls have sheetrock almost touching the floor. Maybe protect it with plastic? Dont know.
Yes my walls are cement on the side and the one that is sheet rock is up about a feet so I would protect it with something so you don't get. them wet!
Hi, how is the epoxy holding up. Is it peeling and/or chipping. Thanks for sharing.
Holding up perfect still! It's all on the prep work!
Was it necessary to pressure wash if you ground-up the floor afterwards? Looks great, btw. I’ll be doing mine in a few weeks.
You are a slave to that ocd, my guy. This attention to detail sets you apart, tho. Great video. That floor looks so great.
EVO4 JK you know it!!! Lmao thanks bro appreciated! 🙌🏼🙌🏼
Some PVC Quarter Round trim or PVC trim on the sheet rock sides would be a really nice touch
Agree! I’m doing a part 2 update soon!!
Did you have to use a crack filler for the small cracks or did the paint fill them in?
The paint does not fill it in. They sell a kit to fill the cracks before painting.
Good job and good work. Not easy doing it by yourself but you did good
Bro I was so tired after all of that!! super tiring but worth it at the end!
Would like to see a video of how your floor is holding up since you installed it.
I made it! It’s on my channel. Garage update is the title I believe!
Great video. Can you tell me where you got your peg board with your tools on it plz.
After you mix it for 2-3 mins. Do you need to let it sit (induction) for 30 mins or can you paint right away?
man I don't remember I just followed the instructions on the box. Sorry!
Great video. Mine starts tomorrow. Quick question. Did you do right up to where the garage door closes so that you could close the door while each coat dried?
I left the garage door open a bit for 48 hours and block it with some wood so dust wouldn't come in and I painted everything and left through the house door. Good luck!!
I'm curious as to why you didn't fill in the cracks while you had the sander there to sand them back down after filling?
Good question, I had gotten everything in advance and didn’t think of it until I was already sanding so I just left it as is. But if you can and have the time definitely cover all the cracks for a proper job!
If you have a new build house would you have to do all the same prep work outside of sweeping degreasing and the etching?
I got quoted 6k and 8.5k August 2022 for a double garage here in Canada. Thanks! I'm tackling this.
Great Video... thanks. What degreaser did you use?
Thanks Larry! I believe is called purple power
Lol
Thanks, nice work.
cpmerical pait stripper helps to remove paint on the floor. apply and allow to set overnight. Then pressure wash off.
WOW! You got my respect! I was dying after doing that it's so much work but so worth it towards the end!!
video is so helpful!!
I wonder what kind of pressure you were using and which diamabrush you rented?
I got it from home depot!
What a good content thanks for sharing, so it’s been a year since you did the epoxy, question is, it last long? Do you usually park car inside the garage? Hot tires was an issue or not ?
I did it with Rust-Oleum it’s not bad it’s cheap route to get in but after another one cost more but wayyyyyy batter .
Hey! Thank you for this! Can you link to what you rented as a grinder at Home Depot? thank you!
Thanks finally someone did a step by step that was 100% helpful thank u...👋
Glad it helped
Hey Bro , amazing video thank you for giving me the inspiration to try this next week. Few questions, I noticed you had some cracks in your floor. Did you fill those before applying the epoxy? Did the epoxy fill the cracks? I have similar cracks in my floor.
Great video. How was the amount of the product used? Some are saying that one would need more paint to complete the process than what is advertised on the box. Can you comment on that?
thanks! and I actually had some leftover.. It's a good amount for a two car garage if your garage is bigger then I would get another kit.
Good vid! Getting ready to do my garage floor as well. Same product....but it's gonna take 3 boxes. Wish me luck.
I watched this video a few times already. I am planning to do my garage floor. How is your floor looks like now? Any damages or color changes? Do you have any advice for me that you could have known beforehand?
so far so good man!! no complaints! It's still holding great and looks good!!!
Hey Christopher, its been a year and a half, Hows the floor looking now days? Im about to pull the trigger on the same floor kit and want to see how its held up. Can you make a small update video?
I wouldnt even consider using rustoleum epoxy diy kits.
We used this in our garage and in our basement. The basement has held up well for 15 years. The garage where the cars sit, not so much.
Those of you who had issues after a few yrs, did you apply a couple coats of sealer afterwards? That’s the key to a successful long lasting epoxy.
since it has been while how has it held up? I ask as I am about to do my garage and going to use the same product and method.
Excellent video and took a lot of pressure off of me coz I was little hesitant to take up this project on my own. But after watching you do it, I am quite confident that I can do it. 1 quick question: did you have any cracks on the floor and if so, how did you handle that? Thanks a ton.
appreciate you!! And I did but I did not patch them.. If you want to you can get their kit to patch any cracks!
Great job, the only comment I have is a concrete diamond grinder would have been better, to get the rid of the low spots and the remaining old coating which might case an issue later due to bonding.
I’m about to do the same process. Do you recommend getting the top coat?
If you want too you can to make it extra glossy! I uploaded a garage update video last week so if you want you can see how it looks now!
Where did u get that shelving .. I am trying to do something like that for my husband and boys
Everything should be linked in the description! if not lmk! There's also a full garage build video I did.
By the way i need your engine for my project🤣
lol Good luck!! 👍
Hi,did you apply any thing else on the top when the chips were added or leave it as it is,and if we have to apply anything on the top what would you recommend.
I didn't apply nothing but you can apply a clear coat
@@ChrisGoorbarry Thank you so much.
Did you use both bags ? Came out great
Awesome vid. Thanks.
Doing mine this week
Thanks! Glad I could help!
Great video! Thank you! We’re going to attempt this ourselves.
Thanks! Glad I could help!
Im thinking about doing my back patio it looks like a good project
Do it! The epoxy is still holding up great!
cool video, I have 3 questions if you or someone would kind to help:
what if garage f'oor is slopped towards a drain? will the epoxy run off the concrete ?
what if you have repaired cracks, does the epoxy hide it all?
what if your concrete is cracked heavily, and/or bucketed towards the the wall do you just use leveling cement and use epoxy?
What about a primer? I hear people put primer on for cracks so that it may seal and doesn’t create some pocket holes. Either way garage looks clean. I just bought a 2 1/2 car garage bundle that I need to work on this weekend. Video helped, thanks 👏🏼😔
Builds a badass Evo, most views of channel is about garage floor. lol. I follow you on instagram, and was about to redo the floor after getting some quotes. and boom, here you are. Keep up the good work my guy.
hahaha RIGHT!!? UA-cam is a strange world! lol But hey bro I appreciate you glad I could help in any way!
Lol not everybody has an evo...but many people tired of their garage floor looking as it does. 😁
