I had a Hunter, in a drunken rage, stabbing everyone that walked past him. Luckily everyone ran after they got stabbed and he just stood around and occasionally moved to another position. He wouldn’t stop though. I called my dozen soldiers, they arrived and knocked him out in moments. He laid there dying but was eventually carted off to the healer and, as far as I could tell, never did that again. That makes me think, the town needs a newspaper and a jail.
The sad thing about city builders is at some point the data just leads to a most efficient way to place everything. Then you end up with these blocks that feel so monotonous.
In most games I hate the meta because of this reason. I try to leave a lot of the deco as a mix of t2 and t1 for this reason, I know the dev have said that when the game goes 1.0 that they will have mod support, one of the things I see being added is more deco items any maybe they making the plaza work as a road instead of building them under a road. Thanks for watching and commenting!
I’m struggling with this too. Finding the balance between something that looks good and optimizing placement isn’t easy. I’ve built some of the perfect cities and they look boring.
@@TacticatGaming I am a grid builder and I run into the same problems, Anno 1800 is one of my favorite games, but I stopped playing because it felt to bottlenecked because efficiency is so important. I feel that to not have the need to minmax on this you might have to play with raiders turned down a little so spreading the defenses is a little more manageable. Otherwise, I feel you need 28-32 houses per market in order to generate the gold needed and everything as compact as possible.
The only thing i can think to do is just have 2 barracks and lots of thick walls. Just send men where you need them when you're attacked and don't worry about towers covering every inch.
This game is far better played without raiders because you can build more freely since you don't need to build everyone within a fortress. The raiders are stupid anyway, they don't really accomplish anything other then slowing progress, they are there to simply prolong the current playthrough. After I learned how to defend against them, the vanity of raiders was over pretty quick for me because it's the same build every game when you have raiders since everything has to be extremely efficient due to the extreme time and gold costs involved in your military. Without raiders you can be far less worried about efficiency and spread out around the map. The challenge becomes how to populate the entire map vs defending against a bunch of stupid annoying raiders.
Great guide, this setup looks neat and feasible. One question though, what about rat catcher? My only problem is to constantly have to move the rat catcher around since they have such small radius and is extremely costly to have around. Now, I have enough gold to have multiple of them, but how will it fit your layout?
I have a cluster of rat catchers and the rings are spread out. I just keep the rings in their locations. if you hit the storage and the markets, most of the time the houses will not get rats but if you get rats in the houses then you have to respond. I would say I have 80% coverage for the rat catchers.
took me a while to figure that one out, I noticed it because the temp shelters also get a bonus from how desirable the area is and if the area is ugly, they will not use the shelters. I am on the plains map and on large, defending the city because there are not nature choke points is a trip! thanks for watching!
I always thought the white areas, when building a house, had to be reserved, in case your house upgrades and it takes more space. So I always kept the houses 2 spaces from the road. How wrong I was 😂
Great guides. I am very new to this game and these are really helping. Is there anyway at a quick glance to see what you have already built. I tend to loose track very quickly (older end gamer). Keep the tutorials coming. Regards
P Opens up the professions tab. it you have a person hired in that job it is easy to see if you have that building already. Some buildings will highlight yellow when you click that building in the build menu, some building will also show work range when you click on them. Hope this helps, there has been a suggestion on the forms to make finding buildings easier but that is not in the game yet. Thanks for watching commenting and asking a good question.
some days I do not undertand YT, show I have not replied to this but, I think Final frontier matches the game better, but it might be because I am a fan of star Trek and Final Frontier is pretty good.
LOL True story, I live on a road that is 10 mile long and the houses are so close the neighbors can shake hands from the windows. this goes the same as the houses behind. the streets are like this row after row for miles. I miss the forest dearly.
@@APH3343 LoL i can imangine that! My self i live in The Netherlands one of the most dense countries of the world.. when dutch people fart the neighbours hear it.. "btw ur town looks awsome! :D "
Yeah, I personally feel like build guides are best left for playthroughs, I have posted a diagram on my discord of how to do a couple build including a 56 house 1 market build all may level because people said that one is to spread out. thanks for watching and commenting.
one of the things i do not like about city builders is that the more efferent way to build losses a lot of organic looks and feel of how city's are built. I have seen some of the builds were they go pure effeminacy and they look so bad and ones were they went all looks and the cities did not work. I wish there was a good marriage of the two on some of the harder difficulties. if you like cites that look good and organic check out RepublicofPlay, Daren works hard to make cities on anno look amazing. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Thank you! So I think I need to do a video about the Temp shelter that is where I figures it out. I am thinking they are affected by how desirable the area is too. thanks for watching and joining the discord!
Your guide is a game changer for me, I really enjoy the game but was having difficulty on how to make the town look more organized. Thank you!
I watched this like 10 times. thank you for the guide! :)

Newspaper and a Jail!!!! Love it!!! Thank you, I had to read that twice because I was laughing and wanted to make sure I read it right. Thank you!!!

Wow I give the houses like huge land room between them but then I am all spread out for doing that.
i didn't know about wells either! thanks! what map are you on? plains? thanks for the vid!

I too call this game the "Final Frontier"

Wait what I haven't had a bar fight yet o_o
Why a small plaza under the road? Its april 2024, and small plaza does not make the desirability any higher?!
I have not played in over a year. I am not up to date with the new patch. but back when I did the recording the Plaza did a lot of desirability
