    A few more tips:
    Crop diseases can spread to adjacent fields, up to 10 tiles away. One tile in game is ~20 meters, the scale is a bit off... But it's often best to keep crops of a similar type with a 10 tile gap between them (An ideal size for a cow pasture). Or plant your blueberries in windrows between fields, and AFTER they're moved, set them to prioritize so they will be harvested by laborers when ripe (around March).
    Additionally, you can run your cows in an orchard. They fertilize the fruit trees, which improves their lifespan. Ding so does slightly decrease the fodder quality, but not significantly. You'll be able to keep a heard of up to 10 at 100% health year round.
    In your barn, set your heard size lower than maximum. 8 Cows per barn seems to be the sweet spot where they remain healthy and produce more food than they consume. When you're ready to add another barn, temporarily raise the cap to 9 and then, breed up two more, then split those two off to the new barn, and reduce it back down to 8. By giving yourself a bit of overhead here, when you're ready to expand, it won't diminish that years meat harvest by nearly as much. You can spread the cost of not slaughtering out over a couple of years.
    Fallow years can help prevent diseases in fields. When a field is stricken with a disease, it can help to cancel production for the next year in that field. Just do maintenance the whole year, or even leave it empty (so as not to tie up farmers on busy work). The year following that, the disease will be gone from the soil. Just be sure you don't have multiple field fallow in the same year, as that will hurt production. One extra field can be put in to pick up the slack for any you're running fallow. If your needs are met by 8 fields, plant 9, but reduce the farmers on the extra field and just keep it in clover and maintenance until needed. Now when one is diseased, you go fallow in that field for a year and convert your backup field to the production you would have had in your main field.
    The honeypot... Outside your walls, construct a storehouse and a well. Uncheck everything except water buckets in the storehouse, and let it fill up with water. Raiders will try to plunder the warehouse, and make off with their useless buckets of water long before they get to your town.
    In the late game, if you want to make your town look better, try using pavilions as roadways, bordered by roads. It does take up a lot of room, but it adds a lot of visual appeal to residential areas. This also helps prevent fires from spreading.
    In orchards:
    Apples: Long lived trees, Take a long time to bare fruit, have a moderate yield.
    Pears: Moderate lifespan, Moderate time to bare fruit, high yield.
    Peaches: Short lifespan, Bare fruit quickly, moderate yield.
    Be mindful of when crops are ready to harvest. You want to avoid having all your fields harvest at the same time, or you may run into laborer shortages and leave crops to rot in the field. You can also scale down the number of farmers assigned to a field, then ramp back up at harvest time. Use seasonal labor, and the rest of the time they can perform other tasks. 2 Farmers is generally adequate for a 10x10 field, you don't need the recommended 5 farmers, as long as your grainery and root cellar are not too far away.
    You can never have too many wagon shops.
    Build many rat catchers to cover your whole town, but disable the buildings until there is an outbreak, then just enable the closest one. For some reason, this works better than just moving the target area of a single rat catcher.
    If a villager says "Idle - Unable to work", check their individual happiness level and their gear. Make sure their clothes, shoes and tools are in good condition and their basic needs are met.
    Look out for injured villagers. If untreated by a healer, some injuries become permanent disabilities. When that happens, I send them to a work camp near some wild boars. They'll die, another villager will be born to replace them. Yep, you heard that right... take your disabled people, ship them off to a distant labor camp where they can work until torn apart by wild animals. Sorry, the game doesn't give you a more humane option in some cases.

      These are some great tips and I am pinning this so more people can see it! Although you might not like my video coming out later about fruit trees hahaha do watch it and let me know what you think.
      Also wagons only seem to carry between work camps and mining camps and the stockyard. If you don't have many of those then you don't need many wagons vut they are useful nonetheless.
      For the fields and disease, you'll see that I always do rotations of different crops each year. Some people do the same crops back to back but I don't do that because of disease and all of my farming guides follow this logic. If I get a disease then I just make sure that the following crops the following year are not affected by that disease and it typically goes away.

    Wolves Den:
    DONT destroy them!! .. Instead build 2x hunter lodges around medium range to the den and place their hunting circle near the den (not on top!) Wolves come in 6-8 per pack and respawn quickly!! Its easy for one hunter to get overwhelmed and killed, but 2 of them watch each others back and make good work of the wolves. They provide a ton of meat/hides and tallow very early game! Have a smokehouse right nearby ready to cook! Note that unfortunetly and eventually they will catch rabies and die, or run into some bad pulls and get all 6 wolves! (you can go 3x hunters to be super safe!) but their sacrifice is worth the amazing amount of hides and meat you can collect!

    An extra tip on the early game gold making that has saved me a lot of gold. The healer is really expensive and isn't needed whenever you have no illnesses around. If you turn the building on only if you have sick people, you save a lot of gold. You could even argue it's not needed early on at all, as most ill people will heal on their own and even if a few die, you're saving a ton of gold.

    • @wastedwatts
      @wastedwatts Рік тому +4

      You do have to do more than release the healer, you have to stop production of the structure to save the "rent". The other thing to notice is when the rent is no longer being paid, any housing near by will suffer from the lack of influence, which could cause a Homestead to be abandon.

    some people state root cellars must be built near the market for best efficiency. What’s your feedback?

    • @TakaYouTube
      @TakaYouTube  Рік тому +2

      It's because of how buggy markets are right now. According to the building text, the market is supposed to distribute goods to homes so people don't have to go and stock their own shelters. This is not happening and markets don't always pick up and stock all of the necessary goods that homes might need. This leads to a lot of wandering around looking for stuff. Until they address markets and how broken they are, yes, it is a good idea to disable all foods in a market and have your root cellars near your homes. This does increase the travel time that your food production may have to take to store it, but that should be alleviated in a future patch when they add the quota system.

    • @wastedwatts
      @wastedwatts Рік тому +1

      @@TakaUA-cam I was thinking root cellars could be near the market also, but in early game play, before a market is installed, it will need to be central to the homes as if a market. I don't think the cellar has a negative influence on the housing either.

Thanks for showing that you can upgrade the decorations. I am not sure that I agree with your roads versus gardens strategy as roads contribute to likability as well. Also building a well at your extremely far distance worksites will help people stay hydrated. My last city currently has 416 people and about 15000 gold.. You can work that trader to be a money generator.

    Another useful Trick: Minimizing game slowdowns. It doesnt matter how good your PC is, you will start to experience slowdowns and short freezes after your town reaches certain population. For me that number was around 700 - 800. What I have noticed is that most slowdowns are related to number of tasks on the map i have set. Harvest, planting , building (like long walls), upgrades (walls again) set these tasks in smaller number but more frequently to have smoother gameplay and less freezes. That way I went with almost no change in performance all the way to 1 000 and still could handle hundreds more I guess.
