This was very helpful, thank you. I came to Farthest Frontier from Banished, and the crop strategy there is basically just "don't put the same fields near each other". The crop rotation was really daunting, but once I get more playtime and larger fields in I think I'll look back and see how simple it can be.
I have to admit, I've been playing this game for about a year now and it's still baffling how many times I learn something new. It never dawned on me to do that clover field for cows for example (without farmers). I'm gonna implement that right now 😂
Yes it’s very useful especially when the land sucks. You can place cows even on 0 fodder quality using alternating fields. 7x15 and 8x15. This keeps fodder at at least 50% half the year and 100% the other half which results in about 85% of the max milk yield and 100% the same meat and birth rates. Critical for surviving wasteland biomes but useful in general
@@TacticatGaming excellent. i'm definitely gonna try that
Thanks for the tips! Will definitely try clover on barns and zero farmer assigned 😄
Ok those were great tips, im new to this game, and the single best tip ive got so far (from many video's) is the - farm clover/barn tip at the end. that awesome. thank you. Oh and 2nd the size of farms that great. Thanks.
great video (again). thanks for the tips. really handy 😉
thanks again for more great info man.
Thank you for this! I just started the game and am really enjoying it, but was totally stumped when crops sprung up. This definitely helped quite a bit. 👍🏻
You're welcome!
Super helpful guide, thanks a lot!
Very informative
The primary thing to know about food in this game is that crops are just fodder for barns. It is the barns that produce real food.
In this game, wheat is not accepted by villagers as food. I am pretty sure medieval people could produce their own bread. But villagers in this game can't. They depend on the bakery to turn the wheat into bread. But bread spoils very fast. Yet, for 100% birth rate, we need at least 7 months of food supply.
This makes wheat completely useless as primary food.
Cheers mate, I've been on 1 food with 400 pop for a couple ingame years now. These tips are really going to help, especially liked the clover as fodder.
Awww Nertz! I thought this was a cowboy West game.
But it do look as interesting as Going Medieval...
lol no cowboys
Great video, it really helped me with the crops. I was wondering why my production was so low. One question about the Cows, why do they go Rouge? and start wondering around even go eat my crops. Any suggestions? thank you
Put ‘em in a fenced area
@@TacticatGaming Away from the brewery
Cool game but I think I hit the wall in the game. I reached 1000 population and the migrations have slowed down so it goes from 970 to 1020 and back and forth. I think I hit a plateau and I can't gain anymore people. So the only fun thing is the trading, I have about 110K in gold in town and 60K in trading post. I got my walls up and raiders are handled with towers and soldiers. Is this the end game for me? I don't have anything else to do?
Nicely explained @Tacticat I actually have been doing the CLOVER only farms ticking over with the zero workers until I needed them, it has made even the worst fertility maps workable, EVENTUALLY
I had to manage my farmers manualy. Like during the winter time they are useless. Then when the winter is over i rearrangenthem again. I think there should be automation in the game for that.
After a while doing that i noticed that they idle all of the time actually. Save reload helps for 1 year but then again they stay idle.
It is clear bug in the game, but i have no idea how to fix it. I think it will be the same on my new run...:/
I noticed next to your grazing areas for the cattle you have a lot of berry bushes placed in perfect squares. Was that just a lucky roll of the map to have a large cluster you built around or have I been missing something completely?
You can move blue berry bushes currently
I want to play this game again, I sucked at it my villagers died I tried getting them to build houses for me but they died. I started five times and each time it didn’t work for me. Nice idea for a game but maybe not for me even after following a guide online
When your villagers die, work out what killed most of them, and work out ways to stop them dying from that next time. Don't try this at home as a strategy for pets or children.
Thank you again for a great video, I think I got the farming down pretty good and my town is up to 560 now. I do have a question though, I see that you have 4 barns here, 2 barns is easy but when I make the 3rd barn things get screwed up, I think the game is bugged, I can't transfer cows to the 3rd barn, not that it won't transfer, it eats them up and they disappear. I transferred 5 cows from the 1st barn to the 3rd barn and it went from 10 to 5 and 3rd barn never received it and it still showed zero cows. I lost 5 cows. I tried to transfer from different barns and I also bought cows from the Trading post, same thing they disappeared. You had 4 barns so I was wondering what you think I am doing wrong or how to get around the bug? Thank you
Could be a new bug with 9.2 - if you are using an old save prior to 9.2 all the barns are bugged - fresh game might solve your issue
@@TacticatGaming don't know when 9.2 came out but first time I noticed it, was like four weeks ago and since I did another settlement from scratch last week and same problem, I was able to transfer 2 cows but all the cows after that they disappeared?
That’s a 9.2 bug on old saves you’ll need to start fresh or roll back to 9.1
i feel so stupid now ty 🤣❣
I'm just a few hours into the game and I just noticed that sometimes farmers assigned on my 12x12 farm don't work. Instead it says "Wandering: Unable to work". They don't do field maintenance or plant crops sometimes and I just get nothing afterwards. Even though the estimate yield is 100%+ and I always place like 7+ workers. I'm really confused. Am I missing something?
That sounds like a weird bug , I’d prob reroll though I’ve never had an issue like that
@@TacticatGaming i think im gonna try reinstalling the game cuz this is my second village and this was happening in the first one too. Thanks for the reply! 😊
Im gonna guess but still ask, if the clover field is new the effects wont be 100% right? I just planted my field and its around 69% Quality
It’s only 100% when the clovers are growing - then it’s the native fertility outside of that
@@TacticatGaming thanks dude you saved many villagers lifes
What farm size and rotation do you recommend for a ~140 town that still produces food and increase fertility
I’d have at least a 12x24 doing turnips clover peas all three years
maximum wheat what combo?
you can get about 6k wheat on 12x24 at max fertility
every vidio i have watched of yours when commercials play the screen goes black. and you cant skip to the vidio, fyi dont want you to loose subscribers.
very odd
The farming on this game made me stop playing. It's just not fun.
I'm sittin here eatin my cheese and bean sandwich wondering what in the name of damnation ya'll are finding so funny 🤨
