  • Wagons are the backbone of your logistics, but do you have enough or to many and are you using them correctly? Traveling to the far reaches of your settlement the wagons keep you Temporary shelters stocked for those cold winter night and haul that precious ore back to town.

    Thank you for this guide. I've never built a work camp, because everyone kept saying that nobody ever lives in them. Now I know why...they were using them wrong. Now I'll use them in my map too. Thanks again. 😊

      thank you! I was hearing a lot of people talking about wagon and temp shelters, so I did a bit of testing. I think as feedback get to the developers, Tooltips will be reworded, making things easier players, but tell them I will keep testing and posting my findings. Thank you for watching and commenting.

      first ensure the building is accessible, sound basic but in this city my theater and 1 house had no way to access and they just rotted... second you need to have everything on hand needed to repair the building, and lastly you need to have builders that are not building other things at the time. I do big build projects and by the time I am done half my city is about to fall apart. I am too stubborn to learn from myself so I keep done it, I find that 10% of population should be builders and 30% labors, so I have about 55 builders and 165 labors and when the builders are not in use the labors sit around 230~ Hope this helps and thanks for asking!

    I kept my industry areas away from residential zones but also build enough temperory shelters just in case extreme weather.

      I have thought about doing industrial zone that way too. making a foundry around an iron mine and making tools right on spot. Making a potter and brick yard around a clay pit the same way. that is a near idea that I might have to try and would like to see others do. thank you for watching commenting and sharing!

    I also wonder if you put a stockyard/storehouse/cellar half way along a very long road, if it halves the transit time as each leg of the journey has it's own people doing the transportation. (or broken down into even more sections if it is affordable)

      when I tested this the wagon would go out to the work site and take the stock to the stockyard at the halfway point instead of going to the halfway point and bringing the stock the rest of the way.

      @@APH3343 yes..... this brings into question what "global storage" really is and what triggers people to move stock towards the trading post etc. Or what triggers the carting business to move items

    Is there any benefit to building a stock yard out by the work camps or is it better to have the wagons take all the resources back to your town?

      There is not. Having the stockyard near your camps will just shorten the trip for the wagons, but will force your workers from every other industry that uses the raw materials to make the trip back and forth.

    Do the wagons shift ANY load or ONLY those industrial resources?

      they will shift any load. i just find they work better on the out-laying areas

    halfway tier 3; i always struggle, i must be doing something wrong, stuf doesn't get delivered, build sites take a decade to get done, what is the best ratio laborers/ builders? why does the meat i buy doesn't get to the people? how many hunters and stables does a +400 population need? how to handle long travel times?

      I have not played the current build. but I had about 20% was decade to defenses, with 20% laborers, if you hunters are far from you city center you need a cooper with drives to move the good, I stopped play because of bugs and lack of replay ability. I figured when the game was in a better condition I would come look at it again

    Dropping things to the stockyard out by them means no building fills up and stops waiting on wagons to arrive is a thought though.

      I have 6 wagons in my town, typically I would say for a town of 550 but in this case, it might be more appropriate to say for 3 clay pits 1 coal mine and 1 iron mine. I did add roads out to the work sites to help with travel time, and run 6 workers in each site, so far, I have not run into any issues with the workers bringing things back to the town. let me know your findings.

      The problem with building stockyards on the spot, is that when you actually need the stuff, you have to walk all the way there.
      So if all your iron ore is at your mining site stockyard, then your foundry worker will need to walk all the way there to get it.
      I wish they would add a wagon priority system. Where you can set most desirable stockyards/root cellars and have wagons move everything from other stockyards to those desired ones

    Please do a video on how tax is collected and by whom. Is it collected globally or only within range of particular town buildings.

      I have to do some testing i have been informed luxury tax is the best way to make money and cramming 48 house per market, I do know the market make spawns gold and the market worker takes the gold to the storage, but I do not know about the houses.

      @@APH3343 ahh because I also wondered how you collect tax from businesses and industries. Or even if that happens. Or if things like a Storehouse also collect taxation. Or if you have to have a market for industries. etc etc

      taxes are only from House and the market, I watched for a little bit and the gold look to spawn in an empty storehouse or vault but I have also seen labors moving the gold around but that might be after the spawn happens.

      The Map size is large and the seed is 0486901281B, i think it is a plains map.

    Your temporary shelter does not seem to be working though? No one occupies it

      they will only occupy the temp shelters if they need to but they will eat and drink there even if they are not living there. but I have also heard that they are very buggy building.
