A-Ha is a Norwegian synth-pop band formed in Oslo in 1982. They have so many beautiful songs that is difficult to choose one, but you can try "Hunting high and low" and "Scoundrel days". The band were listed in the Guinness World Records book for having the biggest-paying rock concert attendance; they drew an audience of 198,000 at Maracanã Stadium during Rock in Rio festival in 1992. Take On Me is one of the best videos ever. They shot the video in live action and then had two artists do over 10,000 sketches of frames from the video. It took them three months working full time just to do the drawings.
This is a typical 80s sound, albeit a very good version of it. What makes it special is that it is generally ranked as the best video of all time. Still no reaction to Alice in Chains, Love Hate Love, live at the Moore? You're gonna love it.
Don't forget that when this video came out in 1980-whenever that no one had ever seen anything like that; with the mixing of comic/cartoon and real life footage. Who Framed Roger Rabbit was probably the next similar thing to be released, several years later.

Morten Harket's infamous high-register on this was beyond me even then - and I think he can still do it...

This was one of those early day ones where the video was really good and the song was great. They got signed on the spot after record company executives heard them once. The singer couldn’t handle the instant pressure of instant, and I mean HUGE success. So that was that. I think They’re Norwegian.

A-ha -- your comments in the beginning made me think of the "who's on first" skit. I hadn't thought of that before. This is my favorite music video of all time.
Those two men with one of them holding a wrench are the lracers of the motorcycle race at the beginning of the music video who lost. When the lady cafe owner thought that she was stiffed by the girl who went into the comic book on her coffee check the lady cafe owner crumpled up the comic book and threw it into the trash can. It was then that their worlds collided and the two men then chased after the lead singer and the girl. When the lead singer and the girl were trapped into a corner the lead singer opened up the hole back to the real world for the girl to escape to. Then the girl took the comic book ran back home. She read the rest of the comic to find out what happened to the lead singer. He gets hit with the wrench and gets knocked out. But he starts to regain consciousness and then he started to hit his body into the hallway walls He made it through to the real world and he and she live happily ever after.

I can sing those high notes. But I'm a girl. The version they did for MTV Norway's Unplugged in 2017 showed me that this song makes more sense than I thought. Morten Harket was still able to hit the notes-and ladies! He was still extremely handsome!

The version they did for MTV Norway's Unplugged in 2017 showed me that this song makes more sense than I thought. Morten Harket was still able to hit the notes-and ladies! He was still extremely handsome!

The song and video hit it huge on MTV, I was there glued to my tv seeing it with everyone else for the first time. Please please listen to a couple of their not so huge songs, they were worthy of being hits too...but fans can be fickle. Hunting High And Low...and...Sun Always Shines On TV. Both were very nice tunes, and the video for Sun Always Shines On TV shows you how the first video ended...
