Speaking of being caught off guard: in 1999 all of America was watching the Grammys (as you do) and all of the sudden this beautiful dessert of a man named Ricky Martin was introduced. He performed this song and even Madonna couldn’t keep her butt in her seat. HE KICKED IN THE DOOR AND SET THAT PLACE ON FIRE. It was all anyone could talk about the next day. I know I added a comment before but I just want to say I've gone back to this reaction several times. One of my favorites!!!! I absolutely love it when you are jammin and you start to laugh because it's so good. Pure joy.
Going to Ricky Martin's concert was a great dance experience! Ricky gives such a great show! Fabulous entertainer and singer! I danced the whole time. This song in particular- the crowd went wild w Ricky. One of the best concerts I went to! He also sings ballads with so much passion. I enjoyed watching you losing it to la vida loca! That sound gets in your soul and its so much fun! Loved today's reaction! 💖💖💖
😅😅😅 this is the best start of my morning drive to work. "She's not wearing me out, the damn song is wearing me out" bro that shit cracked me up. You definitely have the craziest reactions, no let down.
This was something you had to live through to understand how just big it was. I was 24 about to turn 25 when this song was out and when the "Latin wave" hit. He performed this live on the Today Show in the Spring 1999 and to that point, it was the biggest crowd to ever gather for a Today Show concert. It was a sea of people from 48h Street to 51 Street and between Fifth and Sixth Avenues. It rivaled the Christmas Tree lighting crowd. It was insane. This song was also inescapable if you listened to pop radio. It really was a fun time.
I don't like that song. I'm not sure what it is I don't like, but I don't. I think it's mostly the music. I feel like it's over-produced. And as usual, Christina over does it.
@@vamps_rock I like Christina too, it's just that I find she often needs to take it down a smidge. Like, watch Seth MacFarlane's duet with her of "New York, New York" and you'll hear/see what I mean. She over-powers her parts and Seth. Like she needs to be reminded that it's a duet; he's not singing backup.
@@VeryCherryCherry , I agree she can go over the top sometimes but he holds his own in the song and that’s just who she is I guess. Like in Lady Marmalade, it was the four of them but she stole the show with the vocals. And the video is just aesthetically beautiful... mostly because the two of them.
Here’s a GREAT song! I’m Gonna Be (500 miles) by the Proclaimers. It’s a Scottish band. It was a 1 hit wonder from a movie. The video has Johnny Depp (from Pirates of the Caribbean).
Yess!! This song was huge back in the day! He's got so many other hits too...Shake Your Bon-Bon, Cup of Life, Maria, and Nobody Wants to Be Lonely w/Christina Aguilera to name a few.
When I was in high school (early to mid 80's) my cousin was a huge fan of a boy-group from Puerto Rico called Menudo. There were posters of them all over the bedroom walls. i had never heard of them but thought that the group looked cute. While he was a well known artist in the Latin music genre, he wasn't that mainstream here. That is until 1999, when he performed "La Copa de la Vida" (The Cup of Life) at the Grammy Awards. He literally blew the roof off the building & had everyone on their feet, first dancing along in the aisles & then for the uproarious standing ovation applause from the crowd. Please check out Ricky Martin The Cup of Life - LIVE at 41st Grammy Music Awards. I never would have guessed that one of those cute little boys on a poster of some obscure Latin boy band in my cousin's bedroom would grow up to become such a globally adored entertainer & would earn the title "King of Latin Pop" and the "Latin Music King". Who-wee, that man can dance & move those hips!
He did this at one of the MTV Awards shows and blew the roof off the place! Other than Michael Jackson, him and Kid Rocks, Bawitaba performances were my favorites always!
He was my favorite in Menudo! You need to see him at the Grammys! Wow! He made me and my infirm mother get up and give him a standing O in our living room in Philadelphia after he was finished his performance at the Grammy! He was one of the best ever on that show. He did a different song but it opened the doors for this.
Love this song, If I'm having a bad day the dopamine rush from this song is just insane, this song is gonna be stuck in my head all day now and that's a good thing because this day started off shitty for me but now I'm just swaying side to side....Livin La Vida Loca, Come On!!!
You just made my day! I’m so sick but I laughed out loud and cheered you on when you were moving your hips! Go Leo!! I would love to meet you after Covid-19 and go out dancing!! Ricky Martin was huge at one point. This song, Maria, Cup of Life (which was the anthem for the world cup of that year) and She Bangs. Ricky Martin is still around I think he is a judge on one of those talent shows
In NYC, at least in my generation, we called a fire hydrant a “pump”. He hit a pump 😂 And we regularly opened the pump to play in the water, our park sprinklers never worked and the city didn’t care to fix them for inner city kids... But they sure did start to care when we illegally opened a pump, flooded the streets, directed water using a can (with both ends filed off on the concrete sidewalk) into the passing cars open windows flooding the inside of their cars on a hot summer night 😂 Nothing to do with this song but that popped into my mind at the opening scene. Good times 😂🤣💪❤️
@@NativeNYerChicHK I completely agree. When Raheem yells "D MOTHER FUCKER, D" & all hell breaks loose & he can't breathe cos of the cops. That's not just talking about the 80's that shit is still happening today. Sorry to bring things down in here but u said yrself he's a master storyteller & he wasn't looking into the future. Loved this man from his Menudo days until now. He's a wonderful person, he traveled to Puerto Rico after the hurricane they had in 2017 (I think) and raised money to help the residents through his Ricky Martin Foundation as well as an online campaign he started. Thanks for a great reaction video! You can't help yourself when this song comes on, you have to get up and dance!
Try out the "Black Eyed Peas - Pump it" "The Knack - My Sharona". "Talking Heads - Psycho Killer". "Violent Femmes- Blister in the Sun" also " Kiss Off ". "Dexy's Midnight Runners- Come on Eileen".
I was exhausted just watching you! That's my workout for today. When this first came out it got SO overplayed, on MTV/VH1 and on the radio. If you wanted to be cool, you'd say you hated it. But deep down...DEEP DOWN...you know you liked it at least a little bit. Years later you can hear why it was such a hit, it's a perfect Top 40 song.
Loved the reaction! 🔥🔥But man, what a throwback.. I was grooving to this song back in grade school a little more than I should have 😂 You should react to his 'Shake Your Bon-Bon' song/video! Very similar in flavor!
Oh my Mr. Video, you are a hoot! I know you would have tore up the dance floor with this song. Try Mambo #5 by Lou Bega. Thanks for playing one of my favorites.
This came out when our 2 daughters were young. I'm a sensual Momma and share a healthy enjoyment for sexy dancing. Oh we would dance to this!!! 😹 They're in their 20s now and I garuntee you if this popped up at a party or bar the 3 of us would be tearing up the floor!!! 😺🖤
Many remember him as one of the little kids in the spanish boy band, Menudo. The next time the U.S. music scene saw him was in this breakout video as a grown up man. Many were like, "whoa. This is the little kid?"

If he does “need you tonight”, please add that it’s “need you tonight/mediate! Please- ❤️✨
Great suggestions. Especially INXS & Terrence Trent D'arby.
@@shayboomah1166 Have you seen them together? I didn’t know about this until a few days ago when I first recommended both of them. Terence (who now goes by Sananda Maitreya) is very talented.

Just seeing this. I love you. You brighten my day. I was dancing in the car and I'm 59! Loved it!
Great reaction
I remember when this song came out it got played like crazy and the video to everywhere i went i heard it all day everyday at first
Try Lou Bega "Mambo No. 5" if you like this......
Mr. Video I love you I discovered you about a month ago couldn't sleep and I happened upon you and maaaan! I was cracking up until the wee hours of the morning thankyou God Bless you & yours...Hellos all the way from 🇵🇷🌴❤
Lol mr video you’re hilarious.
Ricky Martin was huge at one point. This song, Maria, Cup of Life (which was the anthem for the world cup of that year) and She Bangs. Ricky Martin is still around I think he is a judge on one of those talent shows
I see bongos!! This is going to be good!! 😂😂
I swear... When Ricky performed this LIVE for the first time... I felt the axis of the earth shift!
Love when SHIFT happens! 😉
💜💫✌️🎵
Sounds like a Spike Lee movie😊
True! Former (and always) Bronx/Brooklyn girl here!!!
@@jadecawdellsmith4009 That’s because Spike Lee movies are very true-to-life pieces of that era. Truly. He’s masterful at it!
@@jacqueline4514 I’m 3rd Generation Hell’s Kitchen NYC! We’re practically Family, you and I 😂💪❤️😘
@@NativeNYerChicHK I completely agree. It's just nothings changed
Mr Video, you've missed your calling - Dancer-cise teacher!. Thanks for cheering me up on a wet and windy evening in old London town! xxx
Livin' the crazy life!! Latinos can sexy dance! Always loved this song!
He used to be on my stories....General Hospital. Who doesn't love him...
You always put a smile on my face!!!! Love, love, love your energy!!!!! 🙌🏻🙌🏻❤️❤️❤️❤️💃🏻💃🏻💃🏻💃🏻💃🏻
There's your morning workout then, lol.
You are amazing!! I had a huge smile on my face through this whole video, you’re such fun to watch!
Try out the "Black Eyed Peas - Pump it"
"The Knack - My Sharona".
Living LA vida loca, living the crazy life
Leo, Dude, Thank you so much for doing one of my requests. Your reaction was AWESOME!!! Thanks for making my DAY!
Man... Be happy that you missed it... This damn song was everywhere that yr
Amo ❤ o Ricky Martin e você foi muito divertido nessa reação 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Whoo! Still a kicker!
I have my morning smoke with you, most days. Thanks for all the smiles. Like the movie Training Day, count life by the smiles.
Nice reaction and that dance💯🔥lol
OMG you made my day. “If I’m going to listen to Ricky Martin, I need more exercise.” 😂
Lou Bega Mambo #5, react to that next plz because it just makes sense
One of my all time favourite songs...it was really big in Cuba when I was there..,🖖🏻🇨🇦😊
You have to do a reaction to Broken Wings by Mr. Mister. I love it when you do the reactions to the 80s soft-rock music.
Oh my Mr. Video, you are a hoot! I know you would have tore up the dance floor with this song. Try Mambo #5 by Lou Bega. Thanks for playing one of my favorites.
Please react to Gerardo - "Rico Suave". Apparently I used to get him and Ricky Martin mixed up.... I thought Ricky Martin did "Rico Suave".
Rico Suave is so cheesy! It's perfect for a reaction.
Haha Mr Video !! Loved your need for an inhaler!!! Yes all us women were in love with Ricky.... !!! Bless him he's gorgeous ... as are you Mr Video x
After doing this, you definitely need to react to Mambo #5 by Lou Bega next
😂😂😂💃💃💃LMAO! This has got to be your best reaction of all times!! Im dying over here! Thanks a million💖💖💖
I love his Cup of Life. If you liked this, you’ll love that.
Rick Martin was from the group Menudo , which was back in the 80's . Then in 1999 this wonderful hit came out. This hell of dance hit.
