Lex was spot on about the shoulder movement thing. I’ve found that some metal songs have the ability to take control of your body and you just end up moving your entire upper half without meaning too. I love when I get THAT into a song.
Primal instinct
It's pretty cool to witness this happening... I feel like it happens to everyone but we dont necessarily see it.
Oh yeah, and Gojira does it more than any other band for me. When I hear the last breakdown in Backbone or the first breakdown in Adoration For None, I don't care if I'm at a funeral, I don't care if I'm at MY funeral, I've gotta headbang.
Yep... went to a gojira concert, it was that on steroids. On meth even
This song is a musical masterpiece.
Well said.
Nah. Sepultura plus Morbid Angel with French Maynard lyrics. Cynic made masterpieces. Gojira just do good and great shit.
@@matthewgodding777 And, everything is derivative. Including your idols. This is not an opinion, it’s a fact. So yeah, Gojira has many influences, and they go out of their way to name them, and pay homage to them. All hail Mighty Gojira and all of the artists they built upon!
@@thoronthol1175 yeah, you got me bud. J-pop idols are very derivative. I just mentioned a band more worthy of a noun, it's just flavoured noise
@@matthewgodding777 I liked your comment.. that’s how things get done around here :)
Gojira really rules! For me as someone that's been listening to metal for more then 30 years and was kind of stuck in older bands Gojira was the real next evolution of metal. You can hear their foundation lies in older metal like Metallica and Sepultura but they have their own sound, one of the best drummers around and the most brutal innovating guitar riffs. Toobad for Lex they dont do real blitzing guitarsolo's but more then make up for in breakdowns and transitions in their complex music. Love them, please do more.
Check out orbit culture. You won't be disappointed
Indeed, when this album released it utterly shifted my entire perspective on what Metal could be and where it could take you. To this day it remains my favorite of their releases.
I feel similarly, on never listening to new bands either. Probably a common thing. I've been listening to Gojira for a few weeks idk any other bands.
Devin Townsends KINGDOM on EMG studios!!!
Brad: “Do you guys know what this song is about?”
Closing music: “I don’t knooooow...”
The most appropriate name for a song that was ever created. That riff could crack an entire planet in half. A brilliant masterpiece, along with Flying Whales.
5:51 she's describing that adrenaline rush Gojira's music brings, that feeling of mighty love and power, Joe's righteous anger towards the vacuity of this world. Powerful musicians can do powerful things, especially if you can dream of it. Every riff has an emotion Joe tries to capture, he's such an amazing musician and in my opinion one of the greatest front man of all time.
She explained it perfectly, but he's always so inside his own head, I'm afraid he's never gonna feel that. I get it's a reaction channel, but I wish he would feel the music more. Especially the metal.
@@cginsane22 She actually described so well what Joe tries to accomplish with his music, and if she were at a show, that jolt she had would've created a feeling to want to move and have fun. Instead she was kind of met with an indifference to it, those people at shows that kind of just stand around, and don't understand what the music is about.
Check out some Orbit Culture you won't be disappointed
@@fromthesky1050 Just saying: Don't judge people based on how they move / react at concerts. You have no clue what's going on inside them. People react differently to music. I usually "just stand around" at concerts. That doesn't mean I'm not into it.
This was the first time I saw Lex doing what I call "vibrating headbanging." That's when the beat is so fast that you find yourself shaking your head back and forth really fast as you're simultaneously headbanging up and down at a slightly slower speed. Please don't ask for a better explanation. That's the best way I can explain it lol.
You're basically doing the Jacob's Ladder head shake
The Art of Dying. Gojira has a lot of deep meaning in their words and you will enjoy the message.
“Here in the center stands the light of love that never shall be touched..”
Love. The Heaviest Matter of the Universe.
This is one of the greatest concept albums ever created. Brad hit it right on the nose. This albums concept is mostly, about the bands drug induced astral travel. Flying Whales should be up next,in your Gojira reactions.
I didn’t know that drugs played any part in Gojira’s life whatsoever. But you may have read or heard something I haven’t.
I always thought joe wasn’t into drugs
It's a great album, but definitely not one of the best concept albums ever, I could probably name 20 that I think are better.
@@cdm46290 Agree, it's great but far from the best.
no drugs needed for these guys !!!
Flying Whales by Gojira should be next! It starts off slow and builds to a beautiful crescendo
Gojira guift of guilt live at brixton academy
the breakdown at 4:20 is literally the heaviest matter of the universe....earth shattering how heavy that riff is
I love that Lex is just feelin it. I couldn't tell you the lyrics to most of the songs that hit me the hardest but they make me want to move and just make this visceral connection that can't be explained.
"I don't think it's death".
Hell yea it is. it's all about black star. Ergo the heaviest matter.
I love the song and I love the reaction.
Gojira is an amazing band. They actually have fliers and stuff in their merch tables when they tour to teach people about saving the planet. They are all about saving the earth and looking inside to solve the worlds problems. I actually got to hang out with them back stage before and they were super cool, all of them dont even smoke weed, they are clean and vegetarian taking good care of their mind body and soul.
As a teenager I used to have extreme episodes of sleep paralysis & night terrors. Sometimes I saw evil black human shadows/shapes moving around. A couple of times I heard an electric crackling noise that escalated in volume to the point were electric spheres appeared out of nowhere and "exploded" with a loud electric bang. I also felt the presence of super dark & evil spirits sometimes. One time a spirit flew in circles by the celling, going faster and faster until it flew right through my chest. I was always pressed down my bed so I couldn´t move or scream no matter how hard I tried. No wonder I was a mess as a teenager =)
Yesss we need more of this awesome band. Flying whales or backbone for the next reaction 🤘
Check out orbit culture you won't be disappointed
Beautiful songs by this band 4 times and I'll keep seeing them
Where Dragons Dwell is my favorite Gojira song
Time and signature changes without disrupting the flow of the song. Thought provoking and poignant lyrics delivered with ferocity. The genius of Gojira. I'm in my 50's and have been listening to these guys ever since they debuted as Godzilla. Here's some suggestions: Lizard Skin, Born in Winter, L'Enfant Sauvage, Toxic Garbage Island (Live), and the greatest love song ever composed, simply titled, Love.
Make sure you have a bowl next to you in order to collect your melting brain.
I agree, a bowl would be helpful while listening to Gojira... and I don't mean that kind of bowl. ;)
Not a very popular song but I love "A Sight to behold" by Gojira
Way of all flesh entire album is nuts!!!!
pro tip, the beat, or "pulse" never change, they just play around it. Once you learn to catch the pulse even tho they play around it, that's whn you learn to appreciate the "abruptness"
Oh yeah, dive deeper into Gojira!!!
Flying whales next
Gojira is, or was, super drum heavy. And it's because Mario is no joke on the sticks. One of the best drummers in metal, easily.
first time hearing Gojira with u guys.soooooooo heavy
Nice insight Brad. Loved the dance analysis, Lex. My wife, who is a beautiful strong black woman with almost as much rhythm as me, explained why she can listen to artists like Gojira, Velvet Acid Christ, Skinny Puppy, Ministry and the like, and dance to it. It's not always about finding a proper rhythm or song structure, but more about finding your personal groove and feel and interpretation. She is a lot smarter than me.... Loved the reaction from both of you. Peace!
I'm so glad you're moving on to some "heavier" metal... and I love seeing you Lex loving and understanding it and also love your confusion Brad and how you're analysing it all. It's beautiful!
If I may recommend some bands/songs you definitely should do in the future...
I can with all of my hearth recommend the bands
-Opeth(Swedish): Ghost of Perdition. Master's Apprentice, The Grand Conjuring, Drapery Falls (they have a long and wast list of songs and most of them are masterpieces! The genre they are playing(in the older days) would be progressive death metal) I'm sure you both would love them!
Meshuggah(Swedish): Bleed, Clockworks and one of my favourite songs I Am Colossus. The genre is a sub-genre of death metal called Djent. Brad, you would be very confused by it, and when you think you have the beat... think again. And Lex i think you will get it and feel it. But it can be a very hard listening the first time(especially with Bleed and Clockworks) but it's a trip and I love it!
If you're feeling to go down the rabbit hole of metal, I'll recommend some other bands here that's very dear to my hearth...
First is Baest((Danish)"classic" death metal) maybe try the song Gula.
If you wanna try some Doom metal I can definitely recommend Hamferd(Feroese): Frosthvarv and Stygd. It's very slow and very beautiful. The lead singer has an amazing range and beauti in his voice!
If you wanna do my own favorite genre(Black Metal) I'll recommend some older Dimmu Borgir(Norwegian), I started with the song Puritainia so I recommend that for you aswell... and one of my favorite bands right now is Sunken((Danish)Atmospheric Black Metal) do Departure, its beautiful!
Love seeing you guys experiencing the music I love so deeply and seeing you actually taking it serious and sometimes even liking it!
Lex, I think you're definitely ready for all the above! Brad, I'm not sure you will like it, but it will definitely take you on a trip and give you some good and deep lyrics to analyse 😉
You're both great, love your content.
Check out some Orbit Culture you won't be disappointed
Can't wait to see if Lex can take the beginning of "Flying Whales". "Stripped" is also another good one, hell most of their stuff is great.
Found Gojira eh? Well it won't be long before you discover Opeth and then truly you will never be the same.
Oh yeah! Seen old Opeth a gazillion times... Love them!
You HAVE to check out Down - Bury me in smoke live at download 2009. Singer is Phil from Pantera, Rex is on bass as well. Heaviest, grooviest riff ever!
Well, about that shoulder thing... It's great you experienced it. I feel like it's usually why metalheads headbang :) You just get into the song and merge with the rythm and the energy, it carries you and you go with it. Gojira is a pretty good band to experience that, some of their songs are really heavy and you can get easily carried away and lost in the beat ; Backbone from the same album comes to mind, I always felt this song a lot. Anyway, great reaction !
it took me 20 years to go from 90s alternative rock to extreme metal, these guys did it in a couple of months....
Took me 2 months
@@ebubeugwuezi8092 you must be extreme kvlt hehe
I just recently discovered this band and now have their albums on repeat lol.. "stranded" is my favorite by them
Well listening to Lex explain how life is like sleep paralysis made me want to subscribe. She seems to have a damn good perspective on shit.
Yesss I could not wait to see you do another Gojira song!! Loved it
Yesss!!!
Flying whales next!
Let's go! 🤘🏽👏🏽
That was way to much for them. Baby steps!!! Gojira best metal band doing it right now.
Hyped for more Gojira reactions! They're so good!
Love the review. Seeing Gojira September 24 at Louder Than Life. Love this band
HELL YEAH, I was so hoping you would react to this by Gojira next... Absolute masterpiece..... 🤘🤘🤘🤘.. Please react to Flying Whales by Gojira next.... 👍👍🤘🤘
astral projection, you are good with picking up the meaning of these songs
Gojira is 🔥. Mario holding down the sickest rhythms out there. Pls do 'pray' from their 2017 red rocks show!
Still voting for "Vacuity"... One of my fav Gojira songs.
I go back and forth between Vacuity and Oroborus as my favorite Gojira song
Same
Just subcribed. Love this song. You guys are great, only recently discovered your channel. Love the balance between your analytical mind, really trying to find the meaning/emotion in the songs, and Lex's enthusiasm is contagious. I'm looking forward to the time you get to a song where you want to rock out. Just for fun, with a good uplifting beat, Cuddly Toy by Rochford is great. It's probably more poppy but has guitars so Lex may like it. This guy needs to get more love.
When Gojira step foot on a festival - they take over it! Whatever you like you can listen from them, they are very technical, the drummer is a living legend. "The gift of guilt", "The Cell", "Where dragons dwell","Pray","Toxic garbage island", "Amazonia" pretty much every song of theirs is art.
Lex was possessed by the music 😆
finally yeahh you have more to do silvera, stranded, magma,l'enfant sauvage, explosia ect thank you guys love to follow you
Y’all always want Flying Whales, I want The Art of Dying!!!!
Gojira definitely hits differently!
Yes! Love this heavier metal! You should check out "Mastodon - Oblivion (official video)" . It's heavy with clean, beautiful vocals. You'll love it!
"It's a collaboration" 😄😄🥰
Tuuuuuuune....🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
Best band on the planet right now..🤘😎
Gojira magma or stranded next. The harmonics are incredible
Embrace the jolt. Great commentary.
For a whole different vibe of gojira try the chant the film clip to it is a must
Meditation is my guess too, Brad! Love u guys.
Awesome reaction! She gets it
If you haven't done it already, you've gotta see this song live. Duuuuuuuude.
You should try The Art of Dying from Gojira, so good!
They reacted to that already
@@jhamilton1007 OMG must have missed it... Thank for the info
I get what Lex is saying the music drives you to move in certain ways especially if you just accept it. The lyrics actually remind me of the book Starmaker by Olaf Stapledon in which the narrator leaves his body and travels the universe making contact with other civilisations and eventually the Starmaker (god) though the song doesn't go that far into the story. Awesome song and you 2 are becoming my favourite reactors with Lex's feel for the music Brad's lyric analysis it's always entertaining
Great reaction, silvera and stranded should be the next one really cool songs. I think you'll enjoy them
Just when u think Lex can't get anymore beautiful shes starts grooving to Death Metal.
Headbanging is a science 😂 seems simple but there are levels
It's too bad they have to pause these videos, I would love to see to see Lex totally lose control.
That moment when you feel the pit is calling you.
This whole album is perfection.
Explosia 🤘🏻🔥🔥🤘🏻
Embrace The World Live at The Link Alive (must be the live version, the instensity, energy, it’s s o good)
Nice reaction! Stranded video next! Lex found the beat! Yeah, it's a kind of an odd timing to the song. Not a straight banger... It's like an odd shoulder movement.
Scientific masterpiece She is right.
If it wasn't for pausing so much Lex would just totally lose control and the music would possess her 😂 Flying Whales is a must 🤘😎🤘
Listen to “the art of dying” by Gojira
They did on this same live stream
I always thought the middle part of this song (4:18 on the video) is taken directly from the Morbid Angel playbook. I wonder how much of an influence they were on Gojira.
Hell yeah, that riff is DEFINITELY straight up Trey worship. There's no way that Gojira isn't influenced by Morbid Angel.
on wikipedia it does state morbid angel as one of their influences. I think it shows.
Yes!! More Gojira!! Also please react to some Killswitch Engage, Trivium, Parkway Drive, and Spiritbox!!!!!
Just wow, I to can't control my body when a great tune comes on.lexi, well I'm sure slot peeps knows what your 5hrowing down. Brad your just about there.!!
You two are hitting on all 8 cylinders !!! I hardly ever see anybody react to GOJIRA. This band gets me soooo pumped. I can’t drive my car while playing them . Oh a side note , GOJIRA, means Godzilla in Japanese. ✌️
I’m 53, and Gojira is easily my favorite band to date, just amazing at every level, every album, every song, pure gold. I also recommend After the Burial, Impending Doom, Becoming the Archetype, too many bands to name
Love. Nothing is heavier.
I have never got a chubby so fast untill i saw what you were gunna be reacting to. YeSSS, HEAVY!!!!
Saw them live a few years ago. Shit was wild
MORE GOJIRA IS REQUIRED!!!
Gojira is amazing!
Nachoooooooooooooo
Simply must get Lex in a Gojira pit.
"It's a collaboration"...Gold!
You guys should do 'prey' by the mighty gojira..
That is epic live, with their brilliant light show..🤘
I love the analyzations
Yall really want to go down the death metal rabbit hole. Yall should do funeral inception by suffocation. Then gradually do more straight up dm joints like hate eternal, old school morbid angel etc.
Gojira is awesome live
Yeah, Flying Whales is one to try next, but Where Dragons Dwell is one of my all-time top Gojira songs - both off this same album.
What a lovely couple 💗
Once I have sleep paralysis. Worst thing ever. Keep doing more Gojira songs. One of the best bands right now
You might appreciate Akhlys. Or at least relate. To the artwork, the lyrics, the hypnotic horror music. Sleep Paralysis black metal. Some good shit. Just enough Deathspell Omega type dissonance with latter Emperor cold majesty
Lex just discovered actual headbanging 😂
Always accept the jolt!
Hell yeah. Start headbanging!!!!!!!!
Lex is scarily on point with the lyrics, she did this before (think one of them was "drugs" in master of puppets), because this song is about depression. I believe I've heard them say that in an interview, but don't quote me on that
Gojira, Rememberance - The Link Alive (!!!!)
Gojira, Pray (Live at Red Rocks version !!!)
i LOVE YOU GUYS
