Flying Whales (album version) for an epic prog journey with an explosive finish. Remembrance (live) for a taste of their older stuff. Oroborus, Explosia, Esoteric Surgery for the beginner Gojira ear. Lowlands, Born in winter, Shooting Star for chill Gojira.
Glad you ere digging gojira, they have some really deep messages in their music. In all honesty they are probably the best modern day metal act around, live they are just fire, just enjoy it for the incredible musicianship alone and yes flying whales has to be sooner or later its trippy bit well worth it
Super glad you're enjoying Gojira! Highly recommend you check out their song "Esoteric Surgery". Reckon you'll find the lyrics interesting there too :)!
Glad you guys found gojira, now you have to go back and check out the live versions of their songs. Gives you a whole new appreciation of Mario's drumming!
Gojira is the first band I've gotten into so heavy since the days I first heard of Metallica, Megadeth and Sepultura in the late 80's. I mean they are on a non-stop revolving playlist now, i just cant stop. This is exactly what the next generation of heavy metal should sound like. The influence of previous mentioned bands is clearly audible in their music yet they sound nothing like them. The riffs are just so fresh and heavy, so aggressive yet musical, the drums are so fucking good, the bass hard hitting. The vocals diverse with lyrical content so befitting the times. I kind of miss the awesome guitarsolo sometimes but the breakdowns , switch ups and outro's are so damn hard hitting you don't even notice they hardly play solo's. I guess I also really like its a band where the singer is also the rhythm guitar player like previous mentioned bands. Plays so fucking tight! They are just great, love their evolution in albums where you can hear they don't just keep playing the same old stuff like a one trick pony but age and grow up and play the music they want to instead of just pleasing a hardcore fanbase.
Cool! I was at Knotfest too in Toronto and have had tickets to see Deftones, Gojira, Poppy since Feb 2020 but I'm not sure if this show will ever happen (though it's supposed to happen in 2022).
Stopped sleeping on Gojira about 5 months ago. They've been my current favorite since. Gonna see them in Louisville and can't wait. You must keep on this train. My faves of theirs 5. Mouth of Kala 4. Inward Movement (The link alive) 3. Space Time (The link alive) 2. From the Sky 1. In the Wilderness Would love your reaction to all of them
"I feel like I should be in a loin cloth right now," yooo if that's how you feel, PLEASE check out Heilung - In Maidjan. SUUUUUUUPER unique, awesome band.
Gojira - Another World. They released that last year during the pandemic. Something easy to digest musically, buy still the lyrics are profound and devastating.
The Way of All Flesh (where this song is from) and From Mars to Sirius (which has Flying Whales) are albums like Master of Puppets and And Justice for All. You can just put them on song 1 and let them play while you're doing whatever...for me it's just walking but it could be anything because they're all really well put together albums as a whole. Gojira's latest, Fortitude, is another one with the great Chant a slowdown intermission if you will. And while we're at it, Queensryche's Operation Mindcrime (total 80s religion and corruption concept album extraordinaire). Anyway, that's all I have to say about that. I know there are tons more albums out there that are (best?) experienced in their totality, in order, but these are the ones I'm familiar with. Anyone else? Surely there are some Tool aficionados who can recommend...Slipknot?
I absolutely love this dynamic, one of you is all about them lyrics and deciphering what everything means, then the other really feeling the instrumental and every sound. It’s dope. Love this a lot.
You two are amazing. I love how down to earth you both are, can’t wait for more reactions! Keep up the good work. Hit Pray by Gojira live at Red Rocks next!
I just wanted to say I'm thoroughly enjoying your channel. But particularly the way you're vibeing with the music Lex. It's great to see someone grooving and almost dancing to metal. I've been a big metal fan since I was a teenager, but I love all music. And a lot of the time when I'm at home and listen to songs like this I dance more than I head bang. And when I'm at a gig I'm a huge mosh pit fan, but I'd love to see more people just grooving to the music if that's what they wanna do, as I know it's certainly something I feel inclined to do but feel out of place doing at a gig.
The fact that y'all just jump straight into the song got you this sub, and the insight and enthusiasm got the notification button. Keep up the great videos!
Love Gojira. Ive been following them for a while. These guys are so talented. They are one of the few metal bands where the vocalist doesnt ruin the amazing groove of the song. (For me). Love Lex's energy. You must take that girl to see Gojira live when the finally get around to touring with Deftones in 2022.
Glad to see you two getting in to Gojira. They really are an amazing band with so many great songs. I'd love to see you check out L'enfant Sauvage. It's the song that first really got me in to Gojira.
8:05 "eyes closed", there are a few Gojira videoclips where we can see the entire band members closing their eyes (like in l'enfant sauvage for example ua-cam.com/video/BGHlZwMYO9g/v-deo.html 2:13). It means that you're closing your mind from the outside world to focus on yourself and your inside world, it can also means meditating, when your eyes are closed you can be fully awaken in a spiritual way, because you know who you truly are. I think the lyrics are about a guy who had a materialistic way of living, he is realizing he is about to die, the drums at the beginning sounds like a heartbeat (maybe he had a heart attack or something like this), he is panicking because he never took the time to "close his eyes", seek the true meaning of life, he tries to keep his eyes open in order to stay alive, he's afraid of dying and then he said : ''...I'm realizing, this life and death more precious than anything"...but it's too late for him.
I think lex summed up the lyrical meaning perfectly at around 8:15 well said. My favorite lyric in this song is "I'm of this kind that kills all day/But I don't know yet how to die" when you think of the "kind" he is referring to as humans. I am this kind, I am human, and humans kill all day but somehow we don't know how to die. We are so damn confused and lost when it comes to death, but we can take life from others so easily. Something to chew on. Glad Brad could appreciate a pretty heavy song like this too. It must be growing on him. Leave it to Gojira, probably the most celebrated modern metal band.
Great reaction and great energy! Gojira is a great band and has alot of deep lyrics in their songs.. Yall have a good one and keep up the positive vibes..
Lex, you may truly be the most adorable human being I have ever, EVER seen. Your enthusiasm, your smile, your green nails.....your....zest for music and reactions to new forms of art are just.....damn cute, damn adorable. I just like you. No weird here. Just like you kid. You dope.
Yes! Once you Go jira, there's no going back! Thank you for reacting to one of my favorites! 👏🏽 Flying whales should be next, then Vacuity and Toxic garbage island! Keep it up, guys! 🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽
I like your reactions (analogies) more than songs... you two are fantastic at breaking this kinda stuff down... it's like she is the nuclear energy, and he is the voice of reason, you guys are on to something for sure...
I've listened to this song well over a hundred times and just recently I started noticing how slick that bass is over the ending breakdown. Fucking savages.
Ego Death - Meditation that's what this song and lowkey much of this album Way of All Flesh is about. They are a very smart band keen on their Esoterica but i digress. Glad you dug it. Esoteric Surgery is another favorite of mine from this album with a very dope subject matter. Flying Whales is definitely something I agree with the rest of the commenters about. Amazing song. Cheers
I've always pictured in the last part of the song traveling down a color shifting almost kaleidoscope tunnel. Like this is the soundtrack to the journey. It's time. You traveled light. You've prepared. You've died. Now let us play you into eternity. To the unknown.
Brad is so cerebral and I like it…One day he’s gonna let go and forget to listen to lyrics. Lex is so entertaining to watch but I also love so much how the music just moves her. That’s me 🤘🏻 you guys are great!
The beginning of the song is chaotic, while he is working through the meaning of life and death. AT the end when the song has no more words and just groove... he has come to terms with the fact that he must live.. and he must also eventually die....
Oh, you guys went off the deep end of metal. This band in the metal community can do no wrong. Mario Duplantier is one of the most exciting drummers on our planet to watch.
I think you will like their first album both Clone and Love are two of their heavier songs. Listening to earlier albums first then to the later ones you can better understand how they became popular and changed in style.
I have tickets to see the Gojira and Deftones tour and they've cancelled the tour two years in a row...ugh such a bummer. Was so looking forward to it.
My first time for this song as well. That Didgeridoo is so atmosphere setting! I need to get another Didgeridoo and get my mouth piece re-molded on my old one. One of these days I will get the circular breathing down.
I can never tell if Brad's moving to the music, or has no choice as Lex bounces the sofa around the room.
It's usually the latter. lol
Brad moves to the same beat regardless of the song.. 😂
But we all agree she's a slave to the beat. I love it😅
@@nexttime4532regardless he is.
Yes
Yeah Flying Whales is definitely next lmao he’s gonna love that fucking song 😂👌🏼🔥
I was about to say that, what a tune.
nah deiverance is better or blow me away
for sure
Album version for sure!
Whales for him definitly
Flying Whales by Gojira🖤
yes!
Lex would be a fun companion to go to a metal concert with because she gets so into it. That energy just makes the experience better.
Brad, not so much lol
@@jamieissorry99 depends on the band. I think he would love bands like Zeal & Ardor
@@jamieissorry99 but first we have to teach him how to properly headbang instead of that side to side head motion. Lol
@@opethdan2408 You honestly believed him when he said he liked the song, did you.
Totally I feel like I'm at a concert with her
Flying Whales (album version) for an epic prog journey with an explosive finish. Remembrance (live) for a taste of their older stuff. Oroborus, Explosia, Esoteric Surgery for the beginner Gojira ear. Lowlands, Born in winter, Shooting Star for chill Gojira.
Dude they need to do pray live from red rocks! Incredible display of musicianship
Born in winter is soooo good
This guy gets it.

Yes! My fav Gojira song.
Same here!
Love this band!! They really don’t have any bad songs
Glad you guys found gojira, now you have to go back and check out the live versions of their songs. Gives you a whole new appreciation of Mario's drumming!

Oh boy, Brad is gonna love Gojira's lyrics. Have fun getting into this amazing band. Wish I could do that once again tbh
The musician ship in this band is next level they somehow find a way to make everything shine nothing takes a back seat just love it

Love what you said about instruments and layering Lex. Perfectly explains Gojira.
Gojira reactions will be some of your best videos I predict! The band is deep and they bring it every time!

Y'all got to do "Dimmu Borgir - Blessings Upon the Throne of Tyranny" its sounds like some Lord of the rings meets the Game of thrones metal theme
Lex would like anything off of the Puritanical, enthrone, or spiritual albums.. Can't go wrong with those 3.
borgir
God yes it's my favorite DB song.
Yes! Once you Go jira, there's no going back!

Good job ! Love you both ! Great artistic analysis,,Direct from your heart,
L'enfant sauvage is probably my favorite Gojira song. Loved the vid. Is Lex wearing a German football shirt by the way?

Good takes on a killer song!
Gojira really is among the greatest European metal bands of all.
“The beat is pretty basic in the background” umm I am a drummer and I assure you it’s not lol but glad you’s appreciated a masterpiece
Gojira is their own style of death metal lol such a great band !
Lex is feelin like I am lol,, that music is banging!! stimulating!!
Lex's point about violin is her catching on the fact Metal is very much a root of Beethoven and Classical in general.
