Gojira is lyrically brilliant. For me, it separates them from a lot of other groups. “I will bring no.. material to the afterlife. Take no possessions. I would rather travel light.”
Oh yes! This is great cathartic music, I love how energetic and fast they are and still melodic. Wouldn't want it any shorter! This song is one of my favourites from Gojira.
NOW, you have my full attention. The best drummer in the world is in this band. I recommend The Gift of Guilt (Live at Brixton Academy). Mario Duplantier is a god. Hugely talented band. Brothers Joe and Mario. Joe Duplantier is on vocals, Christian Andreu on lead guitar, bass is Jean-Michel Labadie. Joe's vocals are completely understandable and this groove is insane. Also, if you want more groove. Amazonia is a highly recommended track. But for seeing Mario on drums I recommend the first song. Gift of Guilt live.
@@DarthMalvex Tomas Haake is a different style drummer. They can both play each others stuff but theyre both god tier at what theyre creating with their respective bands. Mario, Tomas, Danny Carey, Eloy Casagrande and Matt Garstka is an untouchable top5 right now, no point in trying to make an order of who is the best as theyre all otherwordly good. Gene Hoglan and Sean Reinert as a honorable mentions as well for being a godfathers for whole death metal drumming
If you want their best stuff definitely the heaviest matter of the universe Backbone, Vacuity and the Axe (Some of my favorite songs from them) Best metal band alive imo
If I am not mistaken this song time signature is 45/4, such a HARD pattern but amazing, Mario Duplantier is one of if not the greatest drummer right now, such a talented drummer, his brother Joe Duplantier is also the singer of this group!
They even have a more difficult song than this in terms of speed that they even haven't tried to play it live, the song is kalled Esoteric Surgery, quite brutal song \m/
Absolutely love the build up with the drumming, Mario is one of the best! I’d suggest L’enfant Sauvage, Ocean Planet, Flying Whales, Where Dragons Dwell
A good down the middle one from them would be Born for One Thing. There are also very gentle songs like The Trails and insane trippy riff songs like Clone, Space Time and Remembrance (their oldest work) which shows they've been at thus level since their 20s. Favorite band and its not even close.
I adore this track (it’s my second favorite from the band). And I definitely prefer the extended 9 minutes and the transition into the next track on the album. The reverse guitar melody just gets me so good and it’s the perfect wind down after the absolute journey that just occurred before it. I’m also just a sucker for well written reverse melodies like that. It’d take so much effort to be able to play a melody backwards like that for me and it’s such a cool touch
This is one of their most complicated songs (one of their best in my opinion), that's why they almost never play it live. On the other hand, the stuff they play live... It's perfect.
They were playing this for the entire European tour last year. Ive seen them twice during that tour and both times they played The Art of Dying. Im pretty sure its part of their setlist during current NA tour as well. It wasnt on the setlist for couple of years, but overall its one of their most frequently played songs live tbh
If you like melody and death metal sometimes, you should check out melodic death metal. Gojira used to be my favorite band until i heard the melodeath band Be'lakor. Countless Skies is a great song from them if you ever wanted to check them out.
The double bass part is a 6tuplet under triplets… at that tempo you can heel up fairly easily but would likely be more comfortable in heel toe or swivel. The blast beat is just a traditional blast not a gravity blast
Do you want to know the time signature of this song? Are you sure? Are you really sure? Ok, here's the explanation: ua-cam.com/video/JLYeGJzJMdU/v-deo.html. Good luck. 😄
@@setonhillstudios hey also I don’t mean to be nickpicky but please react to Gojira-The Axe Live at Brixton Academy 2014 that melody they do at that show is bone chilling

Rap and metal are born to be together in spirit
@2:30 the change of face from confusion to bliss. We got another Gojira fan, lads.
Gojira is lyrically brilliant. For me, it separates them from a lot of other groups.
“I will bring no.. material to the afterlife. Take no possessions. I would rather travel light.”
Wow! That is a 🔥 lyrical composition! Crazy talented!

Definitely a wild ride! They were bringing that djent! 🔥
To Sirius and Wisdom Comes are definitely worth a listen
I just saw these guys for the second time, in Salt Lake City such an amazing experience, fantastic live!!

@@jez_77 Not sure about that. Pretty sure Thomas Haake could play The Art Of Dying, but Mario couldn't play Bleed.
You should react to Backbone, Flying Whales and The Heaviest Matter of the Universe, 3 songs with amazing breakdowns, guitar riffs and drums!
Appreciate all the suggestions! Can’t wait to hear more! 🤘🏻
couldnt agree more
For a casual listener of Gojira I would recommend Stranded Flying whales and Born for one thing
If you want their best stuff definitely the heaviest matter of the universe
Backbone, Vacuity and the Axe
(Some of my favorite songs from them)
Best metal band alive imo
I don't know if you saw, but these guys played at the Olympics this year.
I heard that but didn’t get a chance to see it!

@@setonhillstudios Groups of 5s and 3s over constant 4/4 on ride/china. Pattern goes 5 5 5 3 3 3 then 5 5 5 3 3
The intro : (5+5+5 3+3+3 5+5+5 3+3 ) x2 repeat, then… polyrhythmic 😅
Gotta get some Meshuggah on the to-do too lol. They're the main influence for a lot of these bands haha. Awesome video. Great work!

Gojira is amazing
In a world full of monster drummers, Mario Duplantier (doo-plon-tee-ay) is Cthulu grade.
Damn! from Kiss to Gojira.
It took me 40 years to achieve that...
Haha 🤣 Definitely a jump but I love checking it all out! Thanks for watching!

Gojira is only 2nd to Metallica in worldwide popularity. Somehow they escape notoriety though? Life is wild....
what time signature is that in?
Yes
😂🤣😂
If you like crazy drums you have to listen to Flo Mournier of Cryptopsy fame. Check out Sire of Sin.

"Born for one thing" from their newest album
