Hey, we're almost in the same boat. 😁 I started early February and I'm down 57 pounds so far. My goal is to be down 100 by the end of December and then down another hundred next year. We can do this!
I'm down 130 pounds of my goal to lose 185. Cutting myself in half from 370 to 185. Your advice is all great and we are doing almost the exact same things. The teeth brushing has been great for me. Even if someone offers you something unhealthy to eat and I haven't just brushed my teeth I just tell them: "oh, thanks... but I just brushed my teeth" That's a quick little trick to politely say no thanks without dealing with: "why not?"....Or :"Are you sure?....or: "it's really good"
Great tips. Just an added tip for the water drinking, if you drink through a straw try to train yourself to not pucker your lips when sucking through the straw. I know it sounds weird but constantly drinking through a straw can cause wrinkles around the lips (think smokers lines). I know you are young now but you will thank me in 10 years haha :) I'm 35 and most people still think I'm in my 20's because thankfully I started using anti aging products/tips when I was in my 20's. It's easier to prevent lines that it is to get rid of them. I rarely ever use a straw and when I do I look like a weirdo because I grin while drinking to avoid lines. :)
I'm the same way with water.....not a fan lol. But for some reason if I have a bottle with a straw I drink WAY more than a bottle with just a regular lid. So weird how that works! Anyway, thanks for the video, it's really helpful. All the best!
Totally agree. I HATE the taste of water for as long as I can remember. Lately, I been slicing lemons and putting it in my water. This has helped me so much, and sometimes.. I will put a little dollup of raw honey and mix it in.
I love your energy! You are so positive and articulate. This is a great video. Congratulations on your weight loss accomplishment- you look absolutely beautiful!
Wish I was your age as I'm just starting my food changes too at age 55 and 290 lbs. I lost 10 lbs the first month, March. I get so emotionally knocked off my plan it's quite irritating. I too use a journal. Thanks for your upbeat, easily understood video. Think I'll include watching your vids in my daily inspiration. Tomorrow I'll be watching your vid about foods you eat. LOVE THE TOOTHPASTE IDEA...I've heard that one before by an older lady at work who had a gorgeous figure and she was quite older. Latah!
I'm 46 and also bound and determined to finally lose weight and not keep gaining it back! When I think of all the money, lost self esteem and energy that I've wasted on this stuff it makes me sad. For once I'm trying a self love approach of sensible, balanced and maintainable.Good luck on your journey and I agree these videos are good inspiration. we can't turn back time but we can make the present and future great by treating ourselves with love and giving ourselves the time and care we so often give to others!
I am 63, a vegetarian. I like watching these inspirational videos but get discouraged when I see all these young people with no obvious health problems (other than weight) talking about drinking gallons of water (boring) and going to the gym 5 times a week. I have all kinds of health problems and don't really know where to start. I am 150 pounds and should weigh about 115. Right now, seems like a mountain to climb. Give up this and that, become more active when you get short of breath easily, have high blood pressure, fatty liver, etc. I am hoping to get some hope and motivation but it is hard when you are older.
Carolyn Catlover Please do not get discouraged. I'm 45 years old and I started my transformation back in August 2015. I have now joined the 100 lbs lost club. For the rest of my life I have to take blood thinners which is challenging when trying to loose weight because the healthy veggies are high in vitamin k. So I do get the health challenge part, but if you want this, do not give up. Take it one day at a time; one pound at a time. Sending up prayers for you. Much success to you.
If I feel that I might be hungry, I chug back a glass of water first because normally ppl confuse thirst with hunger hence why so many tend to always overeat
ND G that sounds pretty cliche. Clearly hunger and thirst must feel the same so people are not confusing it I think people don't know how much our bodies actually need water and follow that 8 cups a day rule at most, not knowing that our bodies need more than that and the bigger you are the more your body needs and if you are sweating a lot you need much much more. I recommend the water tracker app bedside it allows you to see how much water you need for your weight. I love water and drink it often but was very surprised to see that even I only drank the needed amount at best once a week.
i have a fitbit charge heart rate to track my calories burnt and heart rate. It's a great visual aid. I use Calorie Counter My Fitness Pal app to track calories. You can scan barcode or look up the food item and it tracks and adds up your foods calories, macros and nutrition.
I highly recommend MyFitnessPal app. I started using it a month ago and lost 8 lbs just by tracking what I eat. It's free too! It's super easy to track your calories and nutrition
HomicIda 8lbs for a month doesn't seem like much. You can poop more lbs than that in a month. Calories doesn't represent calories used. Calories are mostly irrelevant. It doesn't take in account the calories your body is going to actually use.
I'm about 30 lbs overweight, so I don't have a ton to lose. I lost 8-10 lbs by only tracking calories, not working out. If I was also working out I'm sure I would have lost double that. I'm a classic overeater, and this app is helping with that. 8 lbs may not seem like much to you, but I'm happy with it. At least I'm not gaining weight. Also, the recommended healthy weight loss for someone who isn't seriously overweight is 1-2 lbs a week, so I was right on target.
That toothpaste advice was actually very good. I need to start brushing my teeth as soon as I get home. I usually come home and mindlessly snack for an hour before I go to sleep. Its definitely hindering my progress. I've lost 20 pounds in 7 months..slow and steady.
What helped me a lot was IF and cardio. I’m doing 16:8, I eat 3 meals during the time window and drink lots of water. I love sugar and it’s really hard to avoid , so what I do is if I’m craving for an ice cream I eat a scoop, if I’m craving for chips I just eat 5 pieces just to surpass my cravings. I do that maybe 1-2x a week.
I just made a video of my own tips, and now all these weightloss tip vids are popping up. Yours is among them and im happy i found ya! Hey from your new subbie :)
I'm documenting my weight loss journey here on UA-cam .. I just started so your tips are very much appreciated !!! Thank you sooooo much for sharing. 😀
Hey Jovana, I'm a new subscriber and I also have pcos. I love your videos and I also have one of those water jars like yours. I feel like it reminds me every time that I need to drink water. I use to weigh 180 and now I'm down to 168. I hope to try these tips and tricks soon again and hopefully lose more weight. Keep motivating all of us because you're doing a great job at it. Oh yes one more thing, I also followed you on Instagram. 💗
That would honestly be a two min video haha! I write "Breakfast" "Lunch" "Dinner" and snacks and I write in what I ate. I don't write amounts, as I eat intuitively and I don't measure or count my food :) IF you do, you could add in calories or macros!
First time on your channel! I love these tips! Im excited to start some of these ideas! I'm going to buy a goal clothes and hang it up where I can see it! Oh, and what mascara do you use?!
Hello! I love your channel so much, I was diagnosed with PCOS 1 year ago at 15 and the doctor explained that it was causing extra weight. So now at 16 and 268 pounds, my goal is to get to 167 pounds by 18, but my biggest fear is loose skin. Is that something that happened to you? It just really scares me but I need to lose weight.
I actually do not have a lot of loose skin! Loose skin should not scare you off from leading a healthy life. It is much worse to have health problems than to have loose skin!!!
There are apps that make it easier to keep a food journal. It’s just a click of a button. Fitbit’s app does it but also MyFitnessPal which links to Fitbit’s app. And there are more.
My problem is food. I'm good with exercising everyday, starting slow and working up. I used to ride my bike everyday, but don't have the time now. I used to be able to workout and burn 1000 calories a day before I stopped. The food problem is that I don't buy my food, so I either don't eat, or I eat junk, b/c all we have is junk, or nothing. So I'm still working on that bit. I gotta try and drink water more though.
Great video and awesome advice! You talked about keeping a food journal. I love the idea of keeping one where I can actually write down the foods I'm eating. I tried to use apps, but I found that I wasn't tracking everything because I didn't like having to type in every single ingredient. For your journal, do you write down your portion sizes or just the basic description of the meal you had? Thanks!
I don't measure anything so I don't right down portions! Sometimes I'll write basic measurements, such as 1/2cup of fruit, but in general, I eat intuitively because that's what works for me right now :) If you are measuring thought, it may be useful to write that down!
I have lost 15 lbs. I started at 200. I am now 185 as of this morning. My goal is 130-135. If I go in the 120's, that would be a dream come true. I have also been drinking 3 liters of water every day fot about 4 months.

Do you have any tips for people trying to start losing weight again? I want to lose weight and I lose 40lbs before, but I want to lose more fat and become leaner. The problem is because I went on a diet before I feel like my self control has become weaker. I always find myself giving in. I was wondering if you had any tips for that?
I am to trying to lose weight, I have no idea what to do, your videos are so inspiring ☺️ but I'm almost 280 lbs and I'm scared of loose skin and that my boobs will get saggy if I do 😕
I love your videos, I find you really motivating and inspiring. Thanks for sharing your journey and tips! Hopefully I can be as successful as you losing weight.
Great video! You're such a beautiful person inside and out, thanks for these tips, the toothpaste one I've tried and it totally works! 😁 I'll add you on IG
I really love this video and I cannot express how much I appreciate that you do not sound condescending. As a fat girl trying to lose weight and get healthier, whenever I ask for tips and tricks to help speed things up people tend to be rude. I subbed to you! I'm trying to lose 100lbs in the near future and would love to see more of you. I'm taking your tip and worked up the courage to use insta and youtube to keep me accountable as well!
Building The Confidence. How is your journey going hope it's working well I understand myself it's hard I've gotten bigger after my son was born and kinda let it get out of hand props to you to wanting to get healthy hope it's going great much love and props
I've lost over 50 pounds since January 4th :) 338 down to 286. Hoping to lose 100 this year!!! Awesome video!

I thought I was the only one that used brushing my teeth to curb eating
I love your energy! You are so positive and articulate. This is a great video. Congratulations on your weight loss accomplishment- you look absolutely beautiful!

Congrats!
Can you do the my fitness pal.instead of the food journal
I just discovered you and you are lovely and sincere and I'll be following you. You are an inspiration!

Can you make a video that goes more in depth into how you food journal? It would be super helpful!
That would honestly be a two min video haha! I write "Breakfast" "Lunch" "Dinner" and snacks and I write in what I ate. I don't write amounts, as I eat intuitively and I don't measure or count my food :) IF you do, you could add in calories or macros!

I would suggest eating foods that help support skin elasticity. Also, cocoa butter and coconut oil are very helpful as moisturizers.

All your tips are great-thank you!❤️
Toothpaste.....what an awesome simple tip! Perfect!
Do you have a place where those of us who are working a weight loss program can be accountable to one another? For example, I went to the gym Tues and Thurs and did my entire program...cardio and weight bearing. That would be a great way to stay honest and stay motivated.
I don't - But that is kind of what DietBet does :)
Kathryn,
Check out sparkpeople.com
There are forums and lots of online groups there for every goal and interest imaginable....for example you can narrow down your group choice by what diet plan you are on, or how much weight you have to lose or most any other thing under the sun.
It's been awhile since I was on the site, so I popped over there to check out how it's set up.
If you want try out the groups, look under 'community' and then 'sparkteams'.
PS, it's a REAL friendly, supportive site. :-)
Jay Tree...thanks a bunch! I'll definitely look into it!

Hello dear, i'm only 160lbs and 5'2 and my problem is I got all the fat in my lower area (legs-thighs) and you used to have the same problem.. so how did you get rid of that fat and get slimmer legs?

Jovana Borojevic thank you love👌🏻

Very inspiring video love it
Do you have any tips for people trying to start losing weight again? I want to lose weight and I lose 40lbs before, but I want to lose more fat and become leaner. The problem is because I went on a diet before I feel like my self control has become weaker. I always find myself giving in. I was wondering if you had any tips for that?
Take baby steps towards a healthier lifestyle and those will accumulate to become habits over time! Stay consistent.
Jovana Borojevic Thanks so much!
You can ALSO do Ti Chi and Yoga. 😊👌🏼

I am to trying to lose weight, I have no idea what to do, your videos are so inspiring ☺️ but I'm almost 280 lbs and I'm scared of loose skin and that my boobs will get saggy if I do 😕

This is amazing. Thank you so much for reaching out, girl! You are beautiful and you will be amazing :) Best of luck on your journey!
Thank you!
Building The Confidence. How is your journey going hope it's working well I understand myself it's hard I've gotten bigger after my son was born and kinda let it get out of hand props to you to wanting to get healthy hope it's going great much love and props
