A slice of bread has about 75kcal or more, so 7 slices would amount to 525kcal ... If an alcoholic drink is 100 calories you can either divide it by 4 and count it as carbs (25g carbs) or divide by 9 and could it as fat (9g fat). I used to get excited that alcohol was '0 carbs' but you still have to account for those calories. Also on the breakfast note, you don't have to eat breakfast. Intermittent fasting has proved to be effective for a lot of people. Dietitians recommend that people eat breakfast because you're less likely to be famished by lunch time and overeat.
Research the effects of intermittent fasting on women. I didn't realise this until after I lost my period for a year, but all the health benefits are based on studies with men. It can seriously mess up hormones in some women (not all, but please be aware just in case you haven't already heard of this!)

Omg I'm so sorry but this whole thing and the comments section is out of control inaccurate. The "starvation mode" idea? And good carbs and bad carbs? As long as you're in a CALORIE DEFICIT you will loose weight. You can eat nothing but refined "bad" carbs all day but as long as you're in a CALORIE DEFICIT you will loose weight. Simple law of thermodynamics 👌 Will you feel crappy and is it the healthiest way to eat and live? Probably not (obviously). Especially for someone like yourself with IBS and ppl with metabolic disorders or DM. Refined carbs do not have adequate nutrient contents to keep your body functioning at an optimal level BUT they don't inherently make you fat. A calorie SURPLUS is what makes you gain weight. You can eat the "cleanest" foods all day long and STILL gain weight IF YOU'RE EATING IN A CALORIE SURPLUS. Here's a better way to go about losing weight in a more healthy and sustainable way without feeling deprived or stressed out: Eat mostly whole, "clean" foods and try to eat more veggies to add volume to your meals. Make sure you're eating in a calorie deficit, duh. And enjoy your soda or donut or pizza or whatever IN MODERATION. As long as you're in a CALORIE DEFICIT you will be fine. Add in some weight training, not hours of cardio, and try to be more active in general. Take the stairs, walk when you can, park further away from the entrance, stand rather than sit. You won't loose 40 pounds in a couple of months but you WILL loose weight regardless and you will still be able to eat some of your favorite foods without stressing out so much. Just a thought! Sorry for the long comment but she did say to leave your thoughts/comments below. *you can certainly loose this much weight this quickly but will you be able to sustain this forever? Probably not. What about around the holidays or special occasions? Slow and steady wins the race in the long run. 👍
Counting calories is a myth. Excessive carb intake is the main source of visible weight gain. Carbs contribute to calories, and a calorie deficit does contribute to cutting sugars and other things, but if you take any upper level bio class then you'll know there's a disclaimer to calorie counting. It technically works but it goes deeper.
Lily Xena I don't know what the hell you're going on about, but all macronutrients (CHO, Protein, Fats also alcohol) contain energy/calories/kilojoules. An excess of TOTAL energy is what contributes to weight gain. A deficit in TOTAL energy will result in weight loss.

These are all really helpful! Calorie consumption is a touchy subject though... rather not count the exact numbers, but instead know your limit. Counting numbers can become obsessive and jeopardize your mental health 🌸
Just thought I'd jump in and mention that 1 broccoli has more protein than a serve of beef (most protein from animals is recycled from the plants they ate), and also 1 serve of spinach has more iron than a serve of red meat. I just want to mention this and add to the convo because vegans don't always need supplements - they can literally just eat vegies. Please don't hate on me guys, I really love this video and there is such great intent and tips in here! I just want to input this in case it helps some people (also yes I did study nutrition for a short while and I also studied biology). What The Health on Netflix has such good tips too if you're worries about iron and things like that.

Brenda Kassy ....I did too, then it turned into full blown Crohn's disease at 33...I saw a Naturalpathy Dr who suggested I cut out Wheat,Rye, Barley ( beers) and Oats and as long as I stick to that I don't get the stomach pains like I did, also I cut out all dairy.. Your regular Dr won't tell you this because then you won't need to see the Dr anymore, and they have bills to pay, therefore need patients to keep coming back..I am proof that you don't have to live with IBS....
Just so you know, vegans don't need protein supplements :) beans, lentils, tofu, nuts and whole grains are high sources of protein. Furthermore, fruits and veg have protein too ;)
You don't need protein supplements, but you do need supplements in general as a vegan. A few of the questions medical students are starting to get on test surround what to do when a young woman claiming to be a vegan comes in with peripheral neuropathy (B12 deficiency), or Ca+ and VitD deficient. These presentations have now become more standard place to see in the medical community with the rise in vegan diets. Don't get me wrong, I think veganism is a great way to live! But what I've noticed here on youtube is that it's being pushed as the end all be all of diets, and the healthiest way to live - the actual literature has shown that the mediterranean diet is the best proven to reduce cardiac mortality and improve overall health! We have to try and be more objective about these things and rely on the data more.
Another fun idea for getting active while having fun is a trampoline park. They’re super fun and you get super sore afterwards and you’re just jumping around with friends having fun.
The toxic people is HUGE!! I cut out a friend I loved dearly and my life improved significantly. Life is too short to be around negative people who drag you down. Smart girl!!!!

I'm a walker and that's about it, maybe some light stretches and a few small exercises to keep my body from feeling too tight but. I love how pretty u are and that you aren't pushing the working out and all this stuff that normal people just don't have the time or money for. I have kids and I can't go run off to the gym. I've been doing a form of intermittent fasting but instead of a window of eating I just pretty much eat 1 meal and snack then I'm done until the next day and it's a slow process but it's working.

Amelia Moore most of the time when people say carbs they already mean refined carbs which does make you gain weight. She said she eats rice and potatoes too.

Omg I'm so sorry but this whole thing and the comments section is out of control inaccurate. The "starvation mode" idea? And good carbs and bad carbs? As long as you're in a CALORIE DEFICIT you will loose weight. You can eat nothing but refined "bad" carbs all day but as long as you're in a CALORIE DEFICIT you will loose weight. Simple law of thermodynamics 👌 Will you feel crappy and is it the healthiest way to eat and live? Probably not (obviously). Especially for someone like yourself with IBS and ppl with metabolic disorders or DM. Refined carbs do not have adequate nutrient contents to keep your body functioning at an optimal level BUT they don't inherently make you fat. A calorie SURPLUS is what makes you gain weight. You can eat the "cleanest" foods all day long and STILL gain weight IF YOU'RE EATING IN A CALORIE SURPLUS. Here's a better way to go about losing weight in a more healthy and sustainable way without feeling deprived or stressed out: Eat mostly whole, "clean" foods and try to eat more veggies to add volume to your meals. Make sure you're eating in a calorie deficit, duh. And enjoy your soda or donut or pizza or whatever IN MODERATION. As long as you're in a CALORIE DEFICIT you will be fine. Add in some weight training, not hours of cardio, and try to be more active in general. Take the stairs, walk when you can, park further away from the entrance, stand rather than sit. You won't loose 40 pounds in a couple of months but you WILL loose weight regardless and you will still be able to eat some of your favorite foods without stressing out so much. Just a thought! Sorry for the long comment but she did say to leave your thoughts/comments below. *you can certainly loose this much weight this quickly but will you be able to sustain this forever? Probably not. What about around the holidays or special occasions? Slow and steady wins the race in the long run. 👍

Counting calories is a myth. Excessive carb intake is the main source of visible weight gain. Carbs contribute to calories, and a calorie deficit does contribute to cutting sugars and other things, but if you take any upper level bio class then you'll know there's a disclaimer to calorie counting. It technically works but it goes deeper.
Lily Xena I don't know what the hell you're going on about, but all macronutrients (CHO, Protein, Fats also alcohol) contain energy/calories/kilojoules. An excess of TOTAL energy is what contributes to weight gain. A deficit in TOTAL energy will result in weight loss.
Thank you for making this video. Around 3 years ago I had lost 55lbs in a year by doing what you did but I gained back around 25 lbs in the last year. I lacked so much motivation to get going losing weight again but watching your video helped honestly. The last part about happiness is so true because as my life got so screwed up, I started to gain more and more weight. So being happy is so important. 😍😘

Just thought I'd jump in and mention that 1 broccoli has more protein than a serve of beef (most protein from animals is recycled from the plants they ate), and also 1 serve of spinach has more iron than a serve of red meat. I just want to mention this and add to the convo because vegans don't always need supplements - they can literally just eat vegies. Please don't hate on me guys, I really love this video and there is such great intent and tips in here! I just want to input this in case it helps some people (also yes I did study nutrition for a short while and I also studied biology). What The Health on Netflix has such good tips too if you're worries about iron and things like that.

Brenda Kassy ....I did too, then it turned into full blown Crohn's disease at 33...I saw a Naturalpathy Dr who suggested I cut out Wheat,Rye, Barley ( beers) and Oats and as long as I stick to that I don't get the stomach pains like I did, also I cut out all dairy.. Your regular Dr won't tell you this because then you won't need to see the Dr anymore, and they have bills to pay, therefore need patients to keep coming back..I am proof that you don't have to live with IBS....

Just so you know, vegans don't need protein supplements :) beans, lentils, tofu, nuts and whole grains are high sources of protein. Furthermore, fruits and veg have protein too ;)

You don't need protein supplements, but you do need supplements in general as a vegan. A few of the questions medical students are starting to get on test surround what to do when a young woman claiming to be a vegan comes in with peripheral neuropathy (B12 deficiency), or Ca+ and VitD deficient. These presentations have now become more standard place to see in the medical community with the rise in vegan diets. Don't get me wrong, I think veganism is a great way to live! But what I've noticed here on youtube is that it's being pushed as the end all be all of diets, and the healthiest way to live - the actual literature has shown that the mediterranean diet is the best proven to reduce cardiac mortality and improve overall health! We have to try and be more objective about these things and rely on the data more.
Another fun idea for getting active while having fun is a trampoline park. They’re super fun and you get super sore afterwards and you’re just jumping around with friends having fun.

Drinking is my worst habit and I gained so much weight because of it. Especially because I like my salty stuff when im drinking and then I like my pizza or kebab at 3 am and when I wake up at 2 pm I literally dont move for the rest of the day. It's the worst thing. I love how u admit that u hate to work out lol I can't stand it either. I'm a walker and that's about it, maybe some light stretches and a few small exercises to keep my body from feeling too tight but. I love how pretty u are and that you aren't pushing the working out and all this stuff that normal people just don't have the time or money for. I have kids and I can't go run off to the gym. I've been doing a form of intermittent fasting but instead of a window of eating I just pretty much eat 1 meal and snack then I'm done until the next day and it's a slow process but it's working.
I stopped eating red meat because my lazy ass only knows how to cook chicken 😂
