Bottom to Top Dasher (Day 8)

- My quest for a DoorDash 70% acceptance rate continues with my sights set on the Diamond Program and Top Dasher if I can withstand all the bad orders DoorDash throws my way. Hopefully the earnings are worth it once I get there.

My acceptance rate is still less than 5%. Ain’t no way I’m going to let someone get away with not tipping when I’m using my own time, car and gas to deliver THEIR food when they are too LAZY to pick it up themselves.
That's fine, but DD and others will continue to make life difficult for the cherrypickers. Yes, you have the right to decline orders, but DD and others have the right to take steps to prevent it.
It would be nice if the DoorDash base pay was high enough so the order would be worth it to accept even if the customer chose not to tip
@@jeffw1267
I think DD is setting themselves up for a class action discrimination lawsuit
@@PhoenixDeliveries even if DD and UE paid decent for each order I would still cherry pick. When I order food my minimum tip is always a gallon of gas (I now live in Washington where gas is almost $5). I don’t understand how people can expect a person to lose money when delivering their food and not give extra for it, especially when they order from somewhere more than a few miles away. I’m on disability and even when I don’t dash for additional income in a month I still make sure I tip. I took a super large order for $20 one time, it was 10 miles away to a $2million dollar house with a $500K Lamborghini SVJ in the driveway and they didn’t tip.
I see no difference having above or below 70% AR. “Dash Now” is the ONLY benefit.
LOL Tony has you trained. Sit! Fetch! Roll over!
To me the biggest problem with taking these small dollar orders is that when the food isn't ready at the restaurant your immediately losing money
Yeah that's true. The big thing I'm learning is that the small dollar orders are ready more often that the better orders
I'm sitting at a 58% AR. How do I figure out how many orders I have to take in a row to get to, let's say, 90% AR? My AR is not buying no matter how many orders I accept.
Does your para app work with doordash? Mine doesn't.. I thought maybe something was wrong, but looking it up, apparently it's against dd t&c to use it??
There are many helper apps that can possibly be against terms and conditions. With that said, Para is great with Uber, Uber Eats, Grubhub, and Lyft. I don't know if Para will reintroduce DoorDash at some point
The only benefit to top dasher is being to dash anytime you want. Other than that it is a complete scam. Trust me stay a top dasher and you will start getting no tip offers like crazy. Complete bs
I guess I'll be waiting for those orders. If I see a lot of no tips, I probably won't be a Top Dasher too long
I'm the guy who takes out the trash when the no tip order sits for 30-40 minutes. DD pays me a lot more, I am getting the rate per mile I want. But when I see it has been ready 30 minutes ago, I know that $8 order started out at $2.50 & had to keep creeping up in price until it came to me. The big risk is, no tippers leave bad reviews, & I am delivering cold or lukewarm food at best. I need TD so I can dash anytime anywhere, I travel around a lot to keep things fresh. There is big resistance going on in the incredibly low offers that started this summer. I never used to see an $7-8 no tip going 2-3 miles, but now I get tons of them. It's because drivers zone wide are uniformly saying no. That many drivers saying no means there is a point where drivers stop working, & DD has reached it. If they go any lower, they will lose volume & market share. I think we are at the bottom of what DD can offer drivers.
Great video
Thank you!!
Hey Jacob I’m just wondering what kind of car you drive?
Back again!
You getting better orders than me and I have a 89%.
Do you think Doordash sends better offers with each percentage increase of acceptance rate? They say it's a bump at 50% and 70%, but they may not be telling the full truth
Sucker.
@@PhoenixDeliveriesI thought the same thing of him …. Omg . But to increase after a decline is hard so …do you have any recommendation ?
I suspect that Doordash rewards you for taking low orders. Just this morning I foolishly accepted a $ 2 order for 1.4 miles. immediately after drop off I accepted a $9 order for 3.8 miles that ended up totaling $21 ! not the first time this has happened. Am I reading into the situation ? Oh and I have never dipped below the mid 70's, I guess the Yellow color messes with my mind.
I don't think you're reading into it too much. I also have that theory, but I need more time to experiment
Nickel and dimed to death with these orders. Mentally draining always hoping that the next order is finally something good
It does feel a little mentally draining when the bad orders don’t stop
Exactly..Like many others, I decided to raise AR to see what orders are like..One day I made 17 deliveries and didn't make $100!! ($92)...$4 & $5 orders all day long...Simple math..It's a scam..I try and stay below 50% and above 30 %...I seem to get the best orders in that range..
As a fellow person who dashes in the same market as you. Would you say Top dasher is really that needed?
Most likely not but it’s worth a test
4 hr and 50 minutes for $80 $16.56/hr.
I believe I was paused for a hour before I actually started driving
Top dasher for a while now. I just like not having to schedule. You still get bombed with orders whenever Doordash needs bad orders out. Its not like you only see good. At best 50%. Meaning you deliver 20% of the orders that dont actually make sense to you.
Do you think the 50% is better than half of the orders before you were a Top Dasher
You definitely spend less time declining orders. Earning is more consistent somewhat. But it takes more time and miles. All the time you spend running 4 dollar deliveries and driving back to zone on a "Dimond" order makes you unavailable for the great ones.
I cant wait for you to wrap this up with your final thought and move on to something else.
Im thinking race to be Grubhub TOP Grubber lol..
That one is easy to achieve. Don’t do it for 13 days (Mon to Next Saturday), grab a block on that Sunday that has already started (like a 12-2 PM but it’s already 1:25 PM), accept every order until 2:01 PM (slide to unavailable immediately at this time), wait until Monday morning and enjoy premier for at least a week ☠️.
@craigcarter400 1) Why slide to unavailable? 2) Doesn't that usually kick you from the block ? And 3) Does Premiere give you better orders(high paying/dollar to mile)?
@@JohnnyLyft By sliding unavailable (at 2:01 PM in the example) you are fulfilling the block attendance requirements and protecting your acceptance rate. By accepting every order in that time frame you will have 100 % AR (due to not even touching the app during the other 13 days {Previous Monday to that day (Sunday, level up/down periods always end on Sunday at midnight). Once it updates Monday morning you’ll enjoy Premier for a week, which is the only way you can get catering orders. Now you will still get stupid orders at times but you will also see some better orders. If you can’t maintain 95 % (most markets this is almost impossible), then repeat the process to have it every 3rd week.
Week 1: Do Nothing with the app at all.
Week 2: Only on Sunday, work one block for as short as you can to fulfill the block. Make sure you get at least one order to accept during this process of course. Slide unavailable one minute after the block (or after you accept the first order of the block {whichever is later})
Week 3: Wait until it shows Premier on your status Monday morning. Cherry pick in most markets (unless your market gives you at least 95 % decent orders). Enjoy premier until Sunday night at Midnight.
@@JohnnyLyft Now I suppose you can actually just pick an earlier day in Week 2 to do the Week 2 process but make sure you don’t touch the app at all the rest of the week.
@@craigcarter400 would I get access to higher paying orders?
Keep crushing it!
Top Dasher on deck…
Accepting these moronic orders is stupid
It's all a test so my subscribers can see what kind of orders are sent out at various acceptance rates
@@PhoenixDeliveries I had above 50% and the orders weren't that good. I made more cherry picking
Nice 5 dollar cash tip!!
It was clutch!
My AR is at 100 % And I get good orders you have to know what time you work
Starting last week most UE deliveries in my area only pay 2.00 or 2.75 maybe once or twice a night you get a 10.00 order .Whats sad is there are people taking these money losing orders. Its set up now where you can't make money.
You would definitely have to run at least one other food app simultaneously it sounds like, to avoid those sub $5 UE offers.
I am both a Dasher and consumer . I wanted to understand why some customers did not tip and to be quite honest as a customer you are charged a service fee, some restaurants if not most have a delivery fee and on top of that we have to tip. So a $12 sandwich now becomes a $20 sandwich and this is before adding a tip. Because I am a Dasher I tip but if I were not the tip goes out the window because I’m not going to pay $8 in fees plus tip for a $12 sandwich. 🤷🏻♀️
Declined a cpl yesterday, but we are still at a 91AR. Usually 95 or better but recent road construction, extra time, and drop off out of area. we turned a few down. We usually start dashing around 3 pm maybe 4 go home 10-11 pm we average $12-13 per offer. $200 days are achievable once you learn the areas, peak times and the stores you shop in to save time. Some out of areas can be nice as a smoke break. Also remember which stores you get stacked more on. We pretty much take any Panda Express, papa John’s , and a few others. No matter offer rate. Odds are we end up with a stacked order or second stop for same customer who ordered DQ for dessert and the Tip was hidden there.
Getting two good orders that stack together is amazing! Maybe I need to increase my AR to over 90%, but that sounds like I'll have to accept some bad orders
I’m really starting to wonder if the larger ‘High Pay’ orders are reserved for the 90 per centers.
Last 2 nights with my acceptance rate down at 10% area, got a couple catering orders that paid out $45 and the other one $26. But the past 3 nights, Tues, Wed, and Thurs were all sub par nights, but still clipped $100 each of those nights for 6 hours. Usually do 150 to 200 in 6 hours on the weekends. Anyways, I am still getting alot more high paying orders than I did once I got above 50%. I never saw a catering order once I went above 50%
I receive plenty of $20+ trips averaging in the low 80's. To get to 90, I would have to accept 50 cents a mile trips & even less. I would have to work 2 trips to break even on the money lost on the below cost trips. Makes no sense for me, but makes plenty of cents for DD.
Broke a record this Friday. 4 catering orders in a row plus a $10 for 4 miles. Not a clue why DD is being nice to me today. Very strange.
You’re crushing it!
I gave up on being top dasher. Every time I got close, the orders became ridiculously awful. I make up for it by multi-apping. I actually prefer UE in my market. Para gives me some decent catering orders thru Cartwheel.
It great to hear ParaWorks is solid for you!
Lol, Yeay I noticed that as well. "Max pain" when algo knows you have to accept anything to cross over the threshold.
I tried l, really tried this diamond bs. Its just more relaxing cherry picking and not worrying about my AR. Also i was over 70% and never saw a great order. Just another way to trick drivers imo..
I still get no tip orders at 70%. But, my area outside of Philly is prevalent with no tip zones. Today, Doordash said that this shopping order was high paying at 6.75 and 11 items.
I have been offered no tip orders, but they stopped sending them to me it seems. I have never once taken a non tip offer in 7 years. I refuse. Will keep my acceptance rate at 10% range, and keep getting catering orders....Weekends are almost always $200 for a 6 hour shift all the while keeping 10% AR or lower.
Your experiment is flawed from the start. Acceptance rate priority is only active when it is SLOW. If you are only working lunch, dinner, and when it is busy you have no priority.
The other thing kicking you over the edge is the large order program. Not all markets have it, not invited to program, or 0 orders. I have been in LOP in my market for 2 years. Not a single order.
If you really wanted to test this you would have to work non lunch and dinner shift. Decline all LOP orders.
Even as a top dasher you need to schedule. You are allowing too many drivers in if you do not.
I know my experience is going to be different than everyone else, which is why I try to state in every video that I'm not recommending this or not recommending it, I'm just giving more data people can look at. I can't decline all the LOP orders because then my acceptance rate will decrease
@JacobWarren1 Accept then unassign. Or get your completion rate below 95%, and you will be sent 0 LOP orders.
I think they consider high paying anything that is over $1.5 a mile even if it's a $3.50 payout.
4.00 for 1.9 miles. I would take that if it’s a decent restaurant. Think you might be spoiled. Hah
Yeah my market may have spoiled me. I'm used to seeing way better offers than that
@@PhoenixDeliveries don’t get me wrong I’m in St. Louis and it varies a lot. Last Friday I made almost 300 in a 6 hour period. So I am not in a bad market. Just saying that miles to money I get that done in 8 min.
Those are some aweful orders.
tip and the orders still suck; that says a lot for DD customers
I'd be down for higher tips or higher base pay or both
i work 9 to hour a day and i make 250$ 😊
Nice!
I have my own high pay system!
I accept $6.25 for under 6mi
Tuesday $76 one hour fifty minutes
Online 3 hours that's because I turn my app on 15 min before I get to the hotspot and drive twards home abt 20 min
$76 for under two hours is solid!
Yo yo yo
What's up!
Ngl these orders blow
Many of them do, but sometimes they can be ok
What is like during dinner time?
I'd say usually dinner time is busier and my earnings are higher
My acceptance rate is always 55-60 percent. Getting to 70 would be so rough I feel like I already take shit 😭
Is it worth it for you to have over 50% instead of maybe 20%?
In my market definitely. I can’t dash anytime I want unless I have top dasher. I would have to schedule everything out and not even expect to get any good schedule unless it’s a few weeks out.
The biggest part of the scam is how fast AR goes down and how long it takes to go back up. Top dasher is way to much stress way to hard to keep. Orders get worse and worse as end of month approaches. They want you to take the trash for a loss.
Yeah it makes sense the AR goes down fast when most of the past offers have been accepted. Wish it could stay high after a few declines
That’s why you try to get to 70 % and 100 orders well before “hell week” so you can just avoid the app for that time. That’s if you are trying for top dasher and not a far cry like me from it lolz. (2% to 30 % AR most times for me)
Great video as usual. We should do a challenge video. Me at 0% and you at 70%+ and TD We could dash 10-2 on a Wed or Thursday and compare orders and earnings. I could come to your zone or you could come down to mine. We’re both on opposite ends of the 101. I dashed 1 time in your zone when I had a Drs. appt up there but ended up taking orders that took me way out into the desert a couple of times.
I had a solid Spark order earlier at Pecos & Arizona Wal mart. 15 items (30 units) for $38. Then later I had a $20 6 mile double at 5th Street Burgers and a $14.75 Taco Spot (Mesa) 7 mile single drop off on Doordash.
I feel like even if you make more cherry picking right now, its most likely because of the catering/large order program. And that's going to be taken away assuming the tier program does in fact roll out everywhere.
Right, exactly. The large order program is a huge reason why my earnings are higher, both for cherry picking and accepting almost every order
I just noticed the next tier is 95%. That’s pretty ridiculous but a challenge is a challenge. Keep taking orders and see how 95% does for you. There’s only one way to find out.
Its not high pay its low miles tho. Uber driver would give u $4 for 6 miles lol. Its good to take those to fool the algorithm. If the food was ready yea take it.
