Doordash is what you make it. If you treat it like a side hustle it’s gone pay you like a side hustle. If you treat it like a business, it’s gone pay you like a business. Facts!! 💯
Nah

@@FG10084 Nah. It just doesnt add up. Unless you consider pocket change a business, then yeah, that's all you
maddogkilla1 It’s only pocket change if you treat DD as pocket change. I’ve seen screenshots of people in my multiple DD groups making $400, $500, upwards up to $1,600 PER week, which blowed my mind! The people who are making a couple hundreds with it are taking it serious. The people who are making let’s say $50 a week, $100 a week either aren’t taking it serious or don’t have enough time to put more time in it. I’ve learned this running multiple different businesses, you get out what you put in & there is no other way around it.
@@FG10084 I mean to some ppl I guess ur right. Personally, I've found that DD requires too much of your time to make it worthwhile. My time is valuable and I can use it making more $ in different markets.
I mean, you can make that much running a lemonade stand. But to me, the time it takes to make that much at a lemonade stand is much more valuable spent elsewhere. Now replace lemonade stand with Door Dash.
It's my main hustle easy $1000 a week without breaking a sweat. Started around Christmas and became a top dasher in 2 months, quit my job last month. You have to communicate with the customer, keep them informed like letting them know that the store is really busy and the lines are really long, etc. and watch the tips come rolling in.
May I ask what your delivery area is?

Helpful tips thanks
I tried doing downtown orders one time. Biggest mistake I had to cancel an order because I could not find parking for the restaurant. It was only a 5 dollar order too. I get 9-10 dollar orders outside of downtown. The miles are a little further (but not a lot) and I don’t have to stop at 15 lights to get there so I’m sure I’m actually using less gas
I took a low pay order that was on my way home and the customer added $10 tip and then handed me $20 when I dropped off.
Ocean Breeze ok? That’s not gonna happen every order.
The reason for that they want the food get delivered.
You must be great with your hands 🤲
I've had this happen quite a few times. Which makes it hard to decide if its worth it or not

As a Door Dash I am independent Contractor I can have whoever I want in my vehicle - the moment they say I can't makes me an employee
With regard to ua-cam.com/video/rQamfgav3qU/v-deo.html , the info provided in this video isn't correct regarding having passengers. There is NOTHING stating this within Doordash TOS or their Agreements, so I have no idea WHERE he is getting his info. And if there is, please provide a link directly where it states this. Doordash does, however, state the following: help.doordash.com/dashers/s/ica-us?language=en_US
IV. RELATIONSHIP OF PARTIES:
Number 2. DOORDASH shall not have the right to, and shall not, control the manner or the method of accomplishing Contracted Services to be performed by CONTRACTOR. The parties acknowledge and agree that those provisions of the Agreement reserving ultimate authority in DOORDASH have been inserted solely for the safety of consumers and other CONTRACTORS using the DOORDASH platform or to achieve compliance with federal, state, or local laws, regulations, and interpretations thereof.
HOWEVER, you definitely need to check your local and state laws regarding children in automotive vehicles. There are many restrictions, and with most states, leaving a child unattended in a car within a certain amount of feet you're away from the vehicle can be illegal. You cannot just park your car in the driveway, leave your kid in the car, lock the doors, and assume you can quickly run up to the house as freely as you think to drop off the food. And depending on the state, many parents are unknowingly breaking these laws. Doordash can easily deactivate you based on these laws while receiving a complaint with regard to this.
This! I let my two teenagers come along to help with orders and give them a cut of the money. For us it's play money and not a full time gig so i don't sweat splitting it with them. They enjoy the time they spend with me as we talk about all things nerd during the drive and it's nice to have a helping hand to hold orders so they don't tip over etc. On one order we did there was another dasher in the same restaurant we were picking up at, she had a HUGE order in two extremely large bags. A catering order with probably about 40 items in it and she hauled that shit by herself. If i ever get an order that huge I'd definitely want an extra pair of hands to make sure that got delivered safely.
I even bring my dog with me!

Yes, same here. Doordash is great. I love my job. I put in 45-50 active drive time a week.

Ignore this guy. I am not trying to run him down but he is wrong on so much.
My girlfriend rides with me when I doordash, we looked to see if it’s an issue, it’s not ..
Yeah not really sure where he's seeing that. From what I understand doordash allows you to have a "subcontractor" with you. Someone to drive, or pickup the food, or whatever the case may be.
. CONTRACTOR is not required to perform any Contracted Services personally, but may, to the extent permitted by law and subject to the terms of this Agreement, hire or engage others (as employees or subcontractors of CONTRACTOR) to perform all or some of the Contracted Services, provided any such employees or subcontractors meet all the requirements applicable to CONTRACTOR including, but not limited to, the background check requirements that CONTRACTOR must meet in order to perform Contracted Services.
My wife drives. I dash. Its the same money. Ours. We never have to park. I sure hope there is no issue.
Driving to a different city is absolutely fine. My area, Palm Harbor FL, has an 8 lane highway, US 19, you have to criss-cross each order. Trinity FL on the other hand is a new area with about 40 restaurants clustered together and the average tip is about double Palm Harbor. Also I often bring my 13 year old along. There is nothing in the TOS that says you can't.
He definitely has some points for sure, but don’t agree with all of it. You can definitely do it full time. As for it not being worth it to drive to a different area I don’t agree. I live in seattle and all of the surrounding areas are poppin and not that far. There is often a $3.50-$4.00 peak pay in bellevue in which I’ve made $200 bucks in like 5 or 6 hours. Totally worth the 20 minute drive. Unlike my area who will barely be busy or run promos. I think it just depends on the area you live in. Blanket statements don’t apply to every situation. 💰💰💰
I do doordash fulltime 1150 to 1200 weekly

Everything you said I agree 100% and I've been telling folks this for the longest. I drive for Uber. I also do UberEats and
Photography. This applies to drivers or any rideshare or delivery gig. It's a side hustle. That's all it is. It was never ment to be a full time gig. If you don't like it or aren't making a y money, do something else. But really you should have something else going or add another gig. See it for what it is, not what you wish it to be.
This is so helpful!!! Thank you thank you thank you!
You’re welcome 👌🏻
you can bring people on your dash with DD
I'm going to look at it as fulltime because where I live it's always busy.
I mean .. technically you can do this full time ... lol ... easy money .. just depends on what your expenses are ... if you make $100 a day from this ... $700 weekly minus gas .. maybe $630 a week? Who’s to say you can’t do this full time ? Lmao .. better than working at McDonald’s and having a “boss”
Good point better to be your own boss. I’ve done it full time myself and a lot of people do, novdisrespect towards that always better to work for yourself. Ability to get full time hours depends on where you work, and you’re also relying on a company that will likely reduce your payouts as much as possible to keep rates low for customers and cushion their bottom line.. so there are trade offs, that’s all I’m saying.
Jonathan C Whitney true that’s why it’s better to start your own business honestly

What was the miles tracker app you suggested? Thanks Gary
door dash full time works for me.I average $1000 per week in Citrus Heights CA
I wouldn't agree with everything you say. I noticed now that if you accept an order and are stuck in traffic they will send you a message saying " if you don't proceed to pick up delivery we will reassign the order" I was like WHAT???? If I am half way there and they reassign and NOT PAY ME WE WILL HAVE PROBLEMS!
When that happens to me I just swipe that I have actually arrived and keep heading to the restaurant :-)
I disagree with it being a full time job. I make anywhere from 3200-4000 a month doing doordash/Uber eats multiapping. I’m making more than I ever did working as a w2, the only downside is now I gotta wait another year to buy a home because of the minimum 2 years they require
Really useful tips! Thanks for this video brother.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts ❤️
My acceptance rate is 35% because i only accept orders that pay more than $1 a mile...for example if the delivery pays $7 I won’t accept if its more than 7 miles, this rule has made me consistently average 15-20 an hour.
Good tips man you actually know what you’re doing 😂
Thanks appreciate the feedback
With acceptance rate so slow does it affect your profile like do you get less orders???
Yesirr 🔥
That’s crazy it’s so low
That's it? I make $25-30
I would work a real job but it seems like NO employers care anymore. Just saying! :)
Bravo. A good employee is 100 times more profitable than 1 customer is. Businesses have been so focused on the customer that they forget that the employees make their business run smoothly. A big part of this is the stress and metrics that owners place upon managers. Managers get so stressed out that they treat the employees like crap in fear of them losing their management position. Also the idea that all employees are replaceable is correct, but the cost of training and time to find an adequate replacement will cost that business thousands of Dollars. Yes without customers a business doesn't exist, but without employees most businesses won't exist either. Bad employees are a loss to a business however and do need to be fired ASAP. Bad employees make customers stop going to that business and cause a business to loss revenue. A perfect example of this is fast food restaurants. Why so many people don't go to fast food is because of the piss poor attitude that many workers have. These bad employees have no unique skill sets, but they feel that they should be making $25 per hour just because. You don't get paid based upon the work that you do, you get paid based on how profitable your production is. I will laugh when in 10 years most fast food restaurants will have robots preparing all food orders. Then those bad employees will make $0 per hour.
Good point about the insurance. However, it is not enough just to HAVE insurance. You need to check with your insurance company to see if you will be covered while Dashing. Many big companies (i.e., Nationwide) will NOT cover you while you are Dashing (and they WILL find out). Stop Dashing until you get an answer on this. It's not worth the risk.
I live in in an exurb of Indpls. where Door Dash is the only app and business on it is lukewarm. There are much more lucrative suburbs about 15 minutes further in where all of the apps are in play and business on each of them is much more booming and tips are higher.
Just signed up 6/19. Never asked me if I had insurance. I do.
Doordash can TOTALLY be a full time job! Especially NOW during the pandemic!! I consistently and daily make $150 (give or take a little) per day, in eight hours OR LESS. I never work more than 8 hours per day, and make more than I could at any retail job.
Do you go by yourself or have someone ride with you?
In Florida if you receive over $600 on anything you do on the side, you need to pay taxes. The best thing is to provide the year end report to your tax preparer. If you go over $600 income, you will receive the 1099 and that’s what you provide when filing your tax return.
Thank you for this.
👍🏻
Dude, you're official! Literally everything I've ever thought of while making Doordash deliveries it's insane
I try to find loading docks in big office buildings and alleyways. Thats how I avoid a ticket
Thanks for the tip
I will keep this information in Notes and reference it when I start delivery. Thanks for taking the time to prepare this video.
This video is multiple years old and door dash is still the same way for vehicle insurance. I wanted to get on other food delivery apps, but all the other ones asked for vehicle insurance. Door dash is the only one you can deliver without confirming that your vehicle is insured.
Great advice all around. I've seen other people take their kids with them too during deliveries. Good tips on gas usage. Not a mistake, but a few tips that I have is to make sure you have some kind of rewards credit card for the extra expenses you will incur as a driver. I also highly recommend shopping around for car maintenance specials (Groupon is great for this).
Thanks for adding some tips. I have a Costco card personally, cheap gas, decent rewards and travel insurance. Will look for some maintenance specials in need of an oil change!
@@Gignation Definitely, they have a Costco gas station near where I usually Dash, which is like 8-14 cents cheaper than everyone else. Costco membership pays for itself very quickly if you are a Dasher! Even better if you can put that cheaper gas on a rewards card.
Nice! I don’t even shop at Costco myself (don’t have a family so I don’t buy in bulk). But just found out if you don’t spend enough to get the cost of your membership back in rewards money they will reimburse you the difference if you call in and ask! So it’s essentially free
@@Gignation Even if you didn't get groceries there, and only got gas there exclusively every week, you would break even (at minimum) after a year with a standard membership.
That’s what I thought but turns out buying gas there doesn’t count towards rewards
“You’re not gonna get full time hours” we’ll I work everyday n make $700+ a week which is more than I made at my job before corona sooo 🤷🏻♂️
Same! I'm on track for a $800 week, or a $700 week and taking a full day off. I aim for a minimum of $75 a day, but often get a bit more than $100. My city doesn't even get good peak pay promos. Highest I have ever seen was $3 one time. They are usually only $1.
Are you working less than 40 hours a week?
@@adderon7476 between 35-50 a week
I live in Dallas, TX area. I actually live south of Dallas. I stopped going to Dallas for the whole parking issue. There is plenty of business in cities south of Dallas. I also stay out of Dallas because there are so many apt buildings (not complexes) and the customer wants you to come find their door in a maze. Seriously, I don't know the lay out of your building so come meet me in the lobby. So, I said no to Dallas a long time ago.
Multi-apping should be a choice, not a mistake. I only do DD and UE - GH isn't hiring in my area, which is fine because both apps keep me busy
Great video, thank you for sharing. I drive for Uber/Lyft and I was wondering if its worth it to do DoorDash and Uber/Lyft?
Ok oo
Lyft makes more however if you want a break from having somebody breathing by you all the time doordash is a solid break
admittedly I've been pulling in consistently what I put in at 40 hours at my old delivery workplace... year round instead of just winter time.. because I put in that 40
Finally got accepted on uber eats!!
Trying to figure it out still

Haha buddy, I doordash 11am-8pm 7 days a week. $250 a day. It also depends on where you live.
Now that’s a damn hustle right there. Good for you
What area that great bud
People say that but then don’t drop the name of the market. I say hogwash 🤫
I make $250 a day in St Paul/ Minneapolis. Some days it takes 8 hours some days it takes 10. You can do it full time it just takes knowing the market, multi apping, knowing how to stack orders from different apps, and knowing what orders to take and decline. I see how it can be hard for people. You do have to be constantly on the go and thinking your way through the orders. I am good in that kind of situation. It will not last forever but that's why I am working on future goals as well.
180$ a day in NOVA, been averaging $1,000 weekly lately after gas. Take big orders. Thats all I can say.
Thank you. Only chg now is that you have to drive to a red area to even start. At least where i live.
If there is a meter, put a quarter in it, it isn't going to break you, but the parking ticket might.
My acceptance rate have gotten down to 1% and currently sits at 22%
Don't forget to save all gas receipts...

Same! I have found that hotspots are useless though. I get more orders while in motion but my car is old so I'll find a place to park in an area that's near where i get most orders. I kinda have to make my own hotspot.
@@jaegordon25 I turn my car off when I can. I got the Mustang and I don't care about gas mileage. I also like to make my own hotspot. I parked by the Walmart and that place it's always busy with doordash orders, so I never really wait too long :-)
You don’t even have to do that if you drive a hybrid!
only once I have had issues with a driver who went home I think for over 50 min between picking up my food and didn't answer their text messages and offered zero excuses or anything why my cold food sat on such an such street for almost an hour.
Thanks for the help🙏🙏

I started driving for doordash in April 2019 and I have really enjoyed this I plan on using doordash on the side and putting the rest my time fishing tournaments which is my passion and my goal is to become a professional bass angler
👍🏻
You summed up exactly the benefits of the side hustle, allowing you to fully go after your passion. Go for it!
I asked support about having a passenger and they said I could have one as long as it didnt effect my delivery
Just started door dash this week and this video definitely helped
Strategy is key for success in Doordash. I personally see drivers caring too much about their acceptance as you pointed out. Part of being an independent contractor is doing what works best for you in a given situation based on the outlines that you're given. With that being the case, you have to look at how doing something effects your bottom line.
Great points. Dashers need to make the best decisions for their business as an independent contractor, hopefully apps will continue to let them do so
My husband dashes with me at night , I drive he goes in the restaurant and to customers house so I don't Have to keep turning on and off the car but currently I have a sprained ankle so he helps me a lot no body cares restaurants and customers said it's really cute that he helps me out... I once texted a lady saying husband is coming to your door she said to my husband hello husband nice to meet you.. Lol
Also he comes with me at night because I get a lot of orders at night in the ghetto ... So I stay in the car lol. We have dealt with a lot of drunk people, or people who are extremely high one lady ordered 85 donuts because she was high as a kite!
First and most important mistake. You need to open a separate bank account for your door dash, grub hub, Lyft work. Rule number one. Never mix business money with personal money. Have all your Gig income go into the separate bank account. At the end of the year you can total up your income from each of the gig opportunities that you have used during the year. Pay for your gas and expenses for your vehicle out of the business bank account. Pay your car insurance, car payment, car wash and any other expense out of the business account.
Speak with a tax preparer. The mileage deduction is not the only deduction that you're allowed to take. Treat this like a business. Remember you are your own best employee.
Truth on the vehicle wear & tear...it got me last year. I also noticed (hopefully these are new drivers) drivers not using insulated bags....if nothing else the customer could tip you less when you bring them cold food. Shows you care about them and their safety.
Great information
I agree with every single thing that you mentioned! With experience!
Thanks, appreciate the positivity!
Gig Nation you are great!
Today I had bad experience, I did not make any mistake, but customer still gave me bad rating, I had 5.0 but today after one delivery for doordash I ended up 4.5😔 people are mentally sick they do not need a reason to give bad feedback to Delivery Driver😔 it happens sometime, people are not happy with their personal life and taking out their frustration to whom who show up during their bad mood!
If you are a top dasher you can log into any delivery area whenever you want.
Thanks for pointing to where to leave s comment otherwise we would have no idea where to type.
I had an mileage mislabled, anyway get the fee changed. I drove for an hour said 8mi
Someone explain about the tax
I tried to bring my kids with me once but had to take them out to hunt for the apartment in 90 degree weather. Lol needless to say I would never ever do it again. Maybe if they were older but they’re little so
Speaking of tips...our tips are taxed when they are paid to us through the company, correct? I have vague memories of being able to tip at the door and the reason I did so was to keep this money out of the taxed income of the delivery person. I wish everyone who has delivery service would consider the implications of tipping on the app.
Wendy Davis It’s no different than a tip on a credit or debit card at a restaurant. Yes it’s taxed. That is just the reality since many people rarely use cash anymore. I rarely have cash on me anymore since I use it so rarely
Jeremy Irons Most don’t anymore
I'm not sure about that, but I do think a few customers have realized that the delivery driver gets more money if they tip at the door instead of in-app! (Example: one of my deliveries DD paid me $9 and the customer gave me $7 cash. $16 total! Easiest and best delivery yet)
Any tip you receive is taxable...but if they give you cash there is no record of that tip. If they give it through the app there is a record. People who say you aren't taxed on cash tips are incorrect. You should be putting this amount on your tax forms. Many people wont put the cash tips into their gross income on their tax forms and then won't be taxed on it. Which is technically tax fraud.
The IRS taxes everything. If you find $100 you are supposed to put that in your tax forms as income and be taxed on it. Its just how it is.
Courtney Anderson lol
I hate when you get to a place and they don’t even prepare the drinks and accept you tool
Thanks very informative. I had no idea that you had to pay quarterly takes or had to track mileage.
I do taxes for a living. I also do doordash. You spoke wrong. You said standard deduction and mileage. Forget the standard deduction. Use mileage
Crypto Man question: should I keep my gas receipts or should I go back to my dash deliveries and calculate the mileage to help with my taxes ?
@@Bri.is.DaniiGold You can do either. But the 54.5 cents a mile tax credit is the best in my situation. Keep in mind, the tax credit for mileage changes frequently. If you keep track of your miles, use them. It gets you more in the long run if you drive a lot of miles.
I said standard mileage deduction multiplied by mileage. You cannot use the standard mileage deduction without knowing your miles
If you multi app this can be a full time job
@Doug New 1 phone i run uber/Lyft and doordash without any problems
@Doug New - It is absolutely doable. I have started multiapping recently. I am signed up with DD, GH, PM, and Instacart. Right now, in order to make any money in my area, I have to run multiple apps. Otherwise I'll be sitting and waiting a while in between deliveries since my market slows down during the summer. When it picks back up again, I can get away with doing just GH.
1. Don't take anything under $10.00
2. Every 1 mile you drive you've got to make at least $2.00
3. Never accept stacked order.
4. Boycott merchants who had history of making you wait for too long.
5. Don't accept any order where your drop off location is outside of your zone
No parking tickets in Pocatello ID
I drive 4x4 truck and door dash pays my bills 4x4 gets you alot of dashes because in a college town students or others looking for gig $ have small cars and can't handle icy snowy roads especially at night
One week with door dash in 4x4 truck pays my rent I'm in construction here Snow and cold shuts us down here and I don't plow or spread salt liquid
I also do instacart here which helps supplement Grub Hub has small presence here
CORRECTION: passengers are allowed during a dash.
ALSO: you do not have to pay quarterly estimated taxes in year 1 as an independent contractor but you are still responsible for paying taxes at the normal time for the end of the year (this is not tax advice)
i'm glad you clarified that...my wife will sometimes ride along if we're out and then I decide I want to dash for a bit. It's nice having the company and someone to talk to and help with directions.
Usually when I go out and deliver my wife and daughter come with me. Keeps me company, and they enjoy getting out of the apartment for a couple hours here and there.
I do doordash full-time and I make anywhere from 8 to $1,000 a week you have to treat it like a job or you will not make money and also at the end of the year in the state of Texas I don't know how it is anywhere else all you have to do is pay self-employment tax and you're done there's no cordially quarterly is only for the ones that do not want to pay that lump sum at the end of the year
Well duh.
Thanks for the tax advice 👌🏽
Dude preach on....seriously I always multi app and Door Dash by far is the lowest paying one. There are entirely too many dashers. Also, thanks for pointing out it’s a side gig. So many people try to make this a full time job.....it’s not.
Chris Laudrille im full time. Life has been easy.
Julian, that’s awesome. If I had to guess you probably work hard and do a good job giving excellent service to the people that order. But my experience, people who make any money have to work off hours. Night and weekends, that’s where I make my money tbh. Most people don’t wanna do that. They wanna drive 9 to 5 Monday through Friday. And there are busy times during those periods but nothing like a Saturday night when people are drunk and high and want tacos lol
Chris Laudrille 😂😂 Amen
It can be anything u want it to be I guess as long as u put in the hrs... I've been doing DD about 2 weeks now and like it. I've only seen 1 other DD the other day, but they must be out there somewhere.
Which one makes the most?
I feel like this is good advise for people who don't live in California. I wouldnt listen to most of this advice since most of it doesn't apply to me

I have one thing to say though. Giving people the expectation of it being "side money" creates compensation apathy. Dont label it side money because then drivers wont get together to fight for better terms.
Better terms? Doordash is an amazing gig. There is no work involved, nobody telling you what to do, no stress, no coworkers....just easy money. If drivers try doordash and are upset they can go get a real job.
It is just side money though. Honestly if i tried to do it full time my car be dead in 6 months. Lol
@Harold Flanagan
My van is a 93 and currently in the shop for a new transmission. I stopped delivering a couple of months before it died when it started having overheating issues. I didn't want to be in the middle of a delivery when it died. So yeah, old cars don't do well with jobs that put tons of miles on them. Miles = wear and tear. Hammer not needed.
@Harold Flanagan the goal is to make money for things you want, not just to dump it in vehicle repairs which it might not need if you weren't putting additional miles on it. LOL when it's out of the shop, I'll probably resume Dashing. Another factor in my ceasing deliveries was that my work schedule changed so I had less time available for my side gig. However, with the demand for deliveries being greater I'm gonna find a way to make time. Haha Not sure if there's lots of work available now though or if the driver pool will be flooded as everyone losing their jobs will now try to do delivery gigs. I'm considering doing it full time cuz I'm sick of my job right now.
@Harold Flanagan oh and a transmission is pretty major. LOL fortunately I found a mechanic that will do it for $1100 :p
I've seen drivers jump in to full size pickups. They used more gas to leave the parking lot than I did all night. LOL
I love how realistic and brutally honest this is
Everlance is great for mileage tracking
i only accept every order if i'm driving during peak pay. i might decline one or two but i accept most because otherwise you won't get the extra money. also as a petite female i just feel safer having someone with me. i don't see the problem there.
Same! And I'm just now at 25 total orders, so if I decline even one order my acceptance rate dips super low and I can't get that peak pay. My mom was hoping to come to visit and ride with me so we still spend time together (we live 3 hrs apart) but I don't miss out on money.
I agree with you!
I'm with you on dashing only during peak pay!! That's the only time DoorDash will see me! That, and I don't deliver anything past 9pm.
I don’t see why You can bring someone with you. You are an independent contractor. It’s your car, your Insurance. You just can’t get involved with customers information or touch the food. Just basically accompany the dasher.
