Singer Linda Perry was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2015. Wrote songs for a lot of top artists.
One of the greatest performances I've ever heard in my 60 years of listening to music. Linda Perry is a great singer and songwriter. Similar to Grace Slick of Jefferson Airplane. No doubt can do great incredible covers of Janis Joplin songs!!
Huh ...I don't hear Slick or Joplin! But she's an incredible songwriter.
With her voice, I think she could do justice to Grace and Janis songs.
I agree it's one of the greatest performances I've heard as well in my 60 years of listening to music- bless you 🙏
The first time I heard this song on the radio accidently, I fell in love with it! I'm a 62 year old hard rocker from the 70's. Never heard of them before . I have listened to this song 1000 times. still not tired of it!
My man knows his lady! I've seen this girl sit stone-faced through some classic rock moments, looking bored and disinterested. This song doesn't even get to the chorus and she's smiling away, dancing in her seat.
(I know she enjoys the songs she's heard here, it's just that she has a pretty hard poker face when the songs playing usually.)
Linda Perry Superb wonderful fantastic!
Everyone is always mistaking 4 Non Blondes for an all-female band, but they had a couple of male guitarists along the way. Roger Rocha was the guitarist on this one (and he's in the video, too.)
One of those songs that gets into everyone's head. Makes you feel good about being alive in this chaotic world.
Acoustic: I heard her do this song just her and a guitar when she happened to stumble in the little bar I was at years ago on the south side of Pittsburgh. She bounced up on stage, knocked this out of the park, and then left the stage to a stunned bar crowd.
Linda Perry is an amazing talent. She has written songs for other musicians like Chrstina Aguilera, Pink, Alicia Keys, Gwen Stefani and others. Yet her vocal talents are also amazing. I love all the various things she does with her voice in this song. I believe she has given up performing, but continues to write songs (she has already been inducted into the songwriters hall of fame). It's sad that she doesn't perform anymore because she is such powerhouse talent on vocals.
If you want to hear another interesting vocalist in her prime, Sinead O'Connor released a rock album that was a hit on album oriented rock stations in the late 1980s before she became famous for covering Prince's "Nothing Compares 2 U." You should react to her early hit "Mandinka" for a great banger with some interesting vocal gymnastics.
Not only do I love this song, I absolutely love love her voice!!!
The "old lady" bringing the OLD RATINGS UP??? LOL She's a beautiful, young lady!
Started as an all girl lesbian band who pretty much only played a gay clubs in the S.F. area, but eventually a guy was brought in as the lead guitar player. They went through a few members.
I just quickly scanned over the comments section and I didn't see anyone mention that their is a guy in the group and in this video. When 4 Non Blonds formed in 1989 they were an all girl band however by the early 90s one of the girls quit and was replaced by a guy. He's the guitarist to the right (our left) of Linda Perry named Roger Rocha. One of the other girls was also replaced before making this album.
Cool song! That voice! Brings back memories.😎
This is a awesome tune it always puts me in a good mood when I hear it and I always sing-along
This song and video are the definition of early 90’s San Francisco Bay Area. I can say that with authority because I was there.
One hit wonders. What an amazing hit. Linda Perry’s vocal magic integrates perfect with the melody the 3 very lucky non blondes layed down.
Hey wow that's proposing follow that
"Venus" ?
Remember that 1969 song by the Dutch band, Shocking Blue? (Not by Bananarama, lol)
Linda Perry's vocals on "What's Going On?", makes me think of Mariska Veres vocals on "Venus".
Oh yes I remember them. Awesome performance from 4nb🤣 just incredible to hear and watch. Her voice, this song is part of history. Great reaction .
she was so unique
There's a reason why the official video has over a billion views & simply put this is a fantastic song
Loved it then, love it now.
one of the greatest signature song by 4 Non Blondes Rock band''''''' golden Ears 80ssss;;;
There's nothing like a jam session at 6am to get the blood flowing properly. Dee, your hair looks awesome! Thank y'all for this reaction. 💙 from Texas!
Alanis Morissette...a must reaction rabbit hole the top ten...shell love it
I love this song and I love what she does with her voice in this song. So beautiful.
I like how you guys Do Not interupt the song every few seconds to interject your thoughts. You experience the whole song before commenting. Good job
Linda Perry is amazing. Their cover of Zep’s Misty Mountain Hop is exquisite!
The way she plays with her voice is just crazy, and she has such control. Just when you think her voice is going to go whatever way it wants to go, especially with the higher notes, you can hear that she has complete control on everything she's doing. Nothing seems accidental at all.
The sheer range of Linda Perry's voice is just ridiculous! A Legend for sure...
I love this song! It's a great hi way driving tune!
There is a guy in this band, it's not an all girl band, but they are all amazing
Linda Perry has her brother playing one of the guitars in the group. Such a great song!
I just find this song really sweet, just a 20-something who has been working and striving, and is wondering if she's doing OK and where she is going. And just saying I do care, and cry about it a bit, and pray about it a bit, but I am sooo positive deep-down and full of love for the world too. So simple and something we can all understand and connect with, and it connects all of us who do understand. And finally, it's unabashedly positive. Love that.
great to see yr lady enjoying this g. sorry i dont know either of your names
Amazing song! This song is for everyone!
She liked it!
With 1.3 Billion views, one should come to the conclusion that this song is a timeless classic, and will be enjoyed by future generations long after we are gone, and as long as there are folks around to hear it...It's called STAYING POWER!!
Original Hamilton Cast & The Roots Sing "Helpless"
You need to do Natalie Merchant.
I agree.
Hi Kids, Not to burst your bubble, but I need to set the record straight. 4 Non Blondes started out as an all female band in 1989, with guitarist Shaunna Hall. However, she was replaced early on by guitarist Roger Rocha, who you see in this video. So as of the What's UP video, 4 Non Blondes was not an all female band.
the singer is also a great songwriter. she wrote a lot of Pink's biggest hits, as well as many other artists.
This is the biggest 1 hit wonder!
Fantastic voice and lyrics!
The band isn't an all-female band. It started out that way but the guitarist was replaced by Roger Rocha during the recording of the album this song was on.
Those are clearly all girls. Note the long hair.
@@dunhill1 funny
4 Non Blondes did a great cover o Misty Mountain Hop on the Led Zeppelin tribute album Encomium
La dama es muy bella! Saludos Wilburn!
Sweet City Woman by The STAMPEDERS Great Vocals and Banjo.1973.
Linda! One of the best producers today!
Bet yall would love the Staves! Make it holy! Nobody else appreciates variety and musicianship like you do. BTW, I love this song! Incredible voice!
Love your hair!!!
Love that song, sounds just as good as the day it came out. I could not help but feel the need to mention another all-female band which I feel is one of the world's greatest hard rock/metal/funk/punk/pop currently that's active. This band has next-level talent musically and are world-class instrumentalist and songwriters. This band is Band-Maid. Their drummer Akane is possibly one of the top three drummers active in the world today. Do not take my opinion in her greatness but of that of one the greatest rock guitarists Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelins opinion of her.
Jimmy Page had a chance encounter in 2016 of seeing Band-Maid perform as one of the bands performing at a Rock Music Awards show. He was so overwhelmed by her drumming that he felt compelled to meet her an express his thoughts to her. It was said that he told her that her drumming was on par with Jon Bonham his late drummer and he encouraged her that she could undoubtedly surpass him. Now this is beyond a usual compliment considering all the drummers he has been around both in studio when he was a session player and the 50 plus years as a rock star.
I would like to suggest a few tracks to take a look at and possibly present on your channel and see for yourself.
Play (live), Blooming (MV or live), No God (live), Onset (Live), Non-Fiction Days (MV or Live), Dice (MV), Puzzle (live) I better stop there otherwise I may be tempted to their entire catalog which runs upwards of a 120 tracks.
TOTALLY AGREE!! Band-Maid is a great once in a generation band. I'm old enough to haven seen Led Zeppelin live in the early 70's and you will be hard pressed to find hard hitter like Jon Bonham or the craziness of of Keith Moon of the Who. I feel Akane is like a combination of both of those guys which is saying something. I feel fortunate enough to have seen both of those guys live as well as Neil Peart of Rush multiple times and come October of this year I will get to see Akane live for the first time when Band-Maid comes to San Diego. I haven't been so excited to see a band since I was a teenager nearly 50 years ago.
I hope Band-Maid does make it on the channel. If they do you should caution our host of the flood of views he will receive once the Maidiacs get wind of it. Which is not a bad thing at all. I also like to add that Japan is killing it with all-female bands with Lovebites, Nemophila, and BAND-MAID of course. I don't know what they feed them over there but I hope it continues.
One bad ass song!
4 non blondes- spaceman is also great
Love the changes in this tune.
Linda Perry wrote the hit song for Pink 'Get the Party Started'.
Great tune man. Check out Pink doing this as a cover live at Wembley Arena. The performance is sublime and the audience are superb
I think Dee likes it. I dug it a long time ago thanks
Another great song from this album to check out is Superfly
Dee . You are awesome
They are an awesome group. U should check out the Go Go's. Another great female group.
Great song, I haven’t heard in a long time
It started as a all girl band (:. But in this vid it's two dudes and two girls (:
Also do...
Spaceman!😁
Actually, one of those girls is a guy, the one with dark hair. They were originally an all girl group, but not at the time they made this song and video.
Linda Perry doesn’t just have an amazing voice with unbelievable range, she’s a genius music producer too. You know lots of songs she produced you just don’t know it ♥️
Produced and Wrote
Another great all girl group from the 90s was L7. Check out Shitlist, or Everglade. Their album Bricks Are Heavy is a favourite, filled with great guitar riffs.
Keep working. You all are great
You need to listen to Aaron Tippin "love over money" it's a funny country song .
I think Dee might enjoy Dancing Barefoot by Patti Smith. She was dubbed the poet laureate of punk. Definitely a unique sound in the seventies.
El himno de la generación X
Hey guys, there are a couple of live versions of this, and she does it live. Hard to believe. Keep listening.
Roger Rocha is a dude.....in this band.
god you all pickin some good songs , good reactions too !!!
Joie de vivre!
4 Non Blondes do an excellent cover of Led Zeppelin's 'Misty Mountain Hop'. It was on a LZ tribute album and it was easily the best song on the album IMO.
90's anthem...
A great reaction guys. I'll be humming this all now. If you like great womens voices try The Cowboy Junkies - Blue Moon Revisited . This song was recorded in Trinity Church .
Great reaction!
Listen to Shakespears sister, Hello.
Super amazing vocal and great song. I gotta put in the request for you to introduce your wife to Angelina Jordan's I Put A Spell On You.
I doesn't really matter but the lead guitar player is a man. ✌💛
4 ladies none blonds
4 non blondes band are 🧍♀️🧍♀️🧍♀️ women and 🧍♂️man 🙂
If You have ever heard Led Zeppelin, you have to listen to their version of Led Zeppelins Misty Mountain Hop. Scary to say they sound exactly like Zeppelin.
This song reminds me a lot of Guns’n Roses
Chod another band that are masters at altering the tempo to great effect are 'The Glorious Sons'. Please react to their song 'S.O.S.' I think you'll appreciate it.
The Breeders doing cannonball might do it for you. Other's love it. To me it's ok.
PIxies, 4 Non Blondes, Concrete Blonde, I think the sound of the 90's was "soft, loud, soft".
Rip....
Drummer 🌹
Linda Perry rocks...just sayin':)
That's ok trust me alot of people do or did the same thing. ✌
all girl band you say? let me put yall onto the best rock band in the world right now: BAND-MAID -- Warning!
and that is just the begining there is a whole scene of all girl bands and they are starting to make some noise.
The Specials - Nelson Mandela Reaction
A couple all women bands fir you to check out, drain sth, and L7.
It was a all girl band but there is a guy playing guitar in this video
The band started out as an all girl band but the guy in the video, Roger Rocha, replaced one of the women before the album was released.
They started out as an all-female band, but I do believe that the guitar player is a male.
Morphine and Chocolate is Linda Perry at her best imo.
Not an all female group.
