I also like the more recent 'almost' acoustic cover of it , done by Pinay gal, Klarisse de Guzman. Klarisse did it all on her own, produced and performed while under lockdown. I think you'll like that version as well

This song is hard not to love. Linda Perry is a badass! It’s not just her amazing singing voice, but her crazy song writing skills. She’s written songs for stars you know and hits you definitely know too.
Truth. I listen to various kinds of music, but at my core I've always been a hard rock/metal fan. Wasn't a huge fan of 4NB...checked out some of their other music and just had sort of a lukewarm reaction to it. But you can't NOT like this song. It's one of those songs that everyone in the car sings along to.

This song was 1993 for 29 weeks no1 in the german charts! Long time ago, but I still know every word and can sing along. The singer "P!NK" performed it some years ago with the original-singer Linda Perry. Worth to check it out as well! :)

*Her name is Linda Perry and she is absolutely amazing! She was at a DKNY benefit show in L.A. where she performed with Slash (Gun n Roses) and did Zeppelin's "Whole Lotta Love". She's written and produced many songs for many ppl, including Christina Aguilera, Pink, Gwen Stefani, and a whole lot more. She's incredible. She's not a fan of Katy Perry though. This is what she said about Katy back in 2011... "I'm not saying Katy is bad. She's great for what she does. But she's not reinventing the wheel, she's not giving substance. She's just giving, you know, microwave popcorn for you to feast on right at this moment. You know, that's it. And that's what she wants to do obviously. She's not looking to change the world musically, she's not. So all the power to her and everybody that is like that. I'm not saying it's bad. I'm just saying, it's not what I participate in. @@fastingbastard 4 non blondes never had another hit because they broke up. However, Linda Perry has had several hit songs on the charts that she wrote and/or produced for other artists and is very well respected by the music community in general. So much so that she was inducted to the Songwriters Hall Of Fame in 2015. Also, being a hit songwriter is a lucrative profession so I'm sure she has plenty of money in the bank. So why is it so impossible for you to believe that she simply doesn't care for Katy Perry's music for the reasons that she stated? She made perfect sense to me.
@@fastingbastard Its called Herd Mentality. The general population aren't music fans, they just want background noise. Most people who listen to pop music just want to fit in with everyone else, this is what herd mentality is. Look it up sometime.
Linda Perry is a superbly talented singer-songwriter. More amazingly, she was willing to take or leave the money. She was a hit machine. The entire debut album, from which this song comes, is worthy of a reaction. Perry just couldn't miss! The label would have been delighted if the band made a bunch more albums, but, as I understand it, Linda felt like, "Oh well, I made some money, this is boring now, so I'm going to do something else now" and hung it up to write songs and produce for other artists. Remarkable.

I was blown away by all the female voices from the 90’S I don’t know the name of the singer from this band but her alonis morrisete,jewel and there’s a song called bitch and I can’t remember who sang that song they were all amazing I think it was Meredith brooks

You're right, it was Meredith Brooks. Some people are under the impression that it was Sheryl Crow....or even Alanis Morissette (there are UA-cam vids with a picture of Alanis....but it's the Meredith Brooks song playing).
This song always takes me right back, it was everywhere.... the video makes me miss the fashions too. We got alot of our clothes from the second hand store.... was a fun time. I am always surprised 4Non Blondes never had another huge hit. This song is right up there with Smells Like Teen Spirit, Pearl Jam, Beck, Alice in Chains for me, sheer talent and encapsulates an era......
I've always loved this song. Even though they were different generations, I feel like Linda Perry and Janis Joplin would have been friends, they have a similar vibe in a way.

My kids grew on nineties music. That exposure opened my eyes to really cool and kinda dark rock culture. I thought the good music died in the mid seventies.

The guitar work is very underrated in this song because her vocals are so good. The guitars aren't really fancy or anything, but they are solid and on point. Just wanted to give them a little love.

I don’t know how old you are but I’m 50 and loved this song when it came out. I remember being 25 and struggling up that great big of hope. Finding your path, you’re destination of happiness, contentment and acceptance is new and a lot harder than you thought. You get out there in the great big world and realize more and more people just suck in one way or another. The world outside, mankind, isn’t accepting, kind or incurring. It’s like beings teenager wanting to live on your own and realizing you need money to buy toilet paper and basic necessities. It is just not what you thought it would be and it sucks.

I read somewhere that the name of the group came when they were sitting around a table in a park discussing band names. A small boy came up to them and tried to take a piece of pizza from a garbage can to feed some pigeons, when his mother came up and told him, "Don't touch that. It's dirty with all the germs and people". One of the members looked around and noticed that they were the only "people" there except for a blonde family, so she said, sarcastically, "Oh, you mean all the "non- blonde" people? And that's how they came up with "4 Non Blondes".

I saw Linda Perry in a very small dive bar in downtown Orlando called The Safire Super Club around 1996, 97-ish. She was promoting her first album as a solo Artists. I was blown away!!! On that album “In Flight” she does a collaboration with Grace Slick from Jefferson Airplane / Starship , song is “Knock me Out”. Please please check that song out on your own. The vocals of these two power house female vocalists will blow your mind. The song is slow, moody, dark kind of vibe but that collaboration between the two is well worth a listen!!!! ✌🏼
