Aloha!! As a Portuguese little girl I moved to the USA with my family 40+ years ago. I have visited Hawaii 3 x's and I am touched and floored you choose to come back to Portugal, but I am not surprised. Myself, I definitely returned to Portugal 6 years ago. I am very thankful for everything the USA has gifted me, it is a big part of who I am, but I am always going to be Portuguese and will always long to be here, where home is. So outside of sporadic visits to the USA for shopping and family, I have no plans to move back. Hawaii, soooo far away is an absolute gem, so gorgeous, many will question why Portugal?? God knows Portugal is also beautiful, but far from perfect, yet, has a certain gritty charm, a "je ne sais pas quoi" ...an undeniable strong pull that makes one long for it when we leave it; it's what we call saudade and that's just what you experienced. Leaving Portugal is heartbreaking for many, especially the Portuguese, but life here is still tough for so many, that a good % of the ones that leave never return. My dream was always to return and I did, so for those that dream doing the same, never EVER give up hope. I am overjoyed you returned. I thank you for choosing our special little country to make your own. You are so very welcome and we want you to be very happy here. 😊❤😊
I am 75, currently living in SoCal with my wife married for 50+ years. I have been to 60+ countries in my life time but never visited Portugal before. My kids asked me to travel now we have retired. I said we have the time the means the desire but not the energy. So sad. I was very familiar with every island in Hawaii and I was sitting on the balcony high floor of the Honolulu Hyatt with a drink in my hand. That's almost heavenly 30+ years ago. Good luck to you!
It’s been three years since I left the grind behind, but inflation still makes it tough to manage. Living in the city only made it worse, so I relocated to the countryside. It’s quieter out here, and although it gets lonely, with friends and family still tied up in their own routines, it’s been easier to stretch my savings. There’s a lot to be said about simplicity when it comes to improving longevity. At least I’m in a place where I can breathe more easily and hopefully won’t outlive what I have left
I can relate to your concern. I’m approaching retirement myself, and after starting late with investing, I initially thought my ETF portfolio would carry me through. But it wasn’t growing fast enough, and I felt stuck. It wasn’t until I worked with a financial advisor and restructured everything that I finally felt on track. Now, I’m set to retire with around $4 million, without that guidance, I don’t think I’d feel nearly as confident
I’m figuring out my portfolio strategy and how to make the most of it. Did you find your advisor through a recommendation, or did you research on your own? I’m realizing that it might be what I’m missing
Finding the right financial advisor is such a personal decision, and what works for one person won’t necessarily fit for everyone. That said, I can say Emily Ava Milligan’s approach was a turning point for me. Unlike a lot of one-size-fits-all advice, she took the time to understand my goals, needs, and situation. I could see how her strategy shifted based on what mattered most to me, not just market trends. It's worth at least checking her out, you might find her style aligns with what you're looking for
Your editing and style of videos are so peaceful and relaxing to watch. I feel its a bit barder to find this kind of videos in a sea full of hauls and fast paced content. Thank you 😊
We just returned from a 15-day coastal tour in Spain & Portugal. Absolutely loved Porto, Lisbon & Fatima. The people were the most friendly. As seniors, we would have loved to move to Portugal. It was a beautiful experience. The cork items, the Port wines and the welcoming spirit of its people. So similar to Maui and the spiritual vibe of the people who revere the natural beauty of the islands. Glad I found you. Blessings to your Portugal life.❤
I, too, suffered from restlessness and a constant desire to change my home. I have the “fear of missing out” and afraid that time is passing and I’m not living my best life. So I would often just up and move. Only by the grace of God have I been able to find a sense of peace and settlement where I currently live. Changing homes can be an addicting and exhilarating experience. But the biggest downfall is once the adrenaline and dopamine wears away, and reality sets in, you become bored again. I think I’ve changed my home in seasons when my personal values changed. When I highly-valued self discovery, I moved to LA. When I highly-valued peace and living by the ocean, I moved to Thailand. Now that I highly value family, I live in the small town where my mom grew up in. Where ever you choose your home, I pray you find peace and stability there. And if you have to change it again, so what!
Hello from Portugal, Your content is so lovely, like a warm hug! ☕🤗 we moved here 8 months ago from South Africa and all the things you mentioned toward the end of the video, I can fully relate to - getting the residency sorted is/has been a lot admin and emotionally taxing, but so worth it to live in this beautiful & wholesome country. Like you two, we also decided to take it day-by-day, trying not to rush into doing to many things, focusing most of our energy on gentle-living, settling into our new home and spending most of our time on doing things that fill our cup. Looking forward to seeing your journey 🥰❤

Congratulations on continuing to listen to your inner wisdom and returning to Portugal! This video is very inspiring. Thank you for sharing your wonderful news. 😍
I really enjoyed this video. I’ve always struggled to find “my place” in the world. I’m 42, married and have kids. I’m still on my journey, feeling like I haven’t even started. Thank you for sharing you and your husband’s story, it gives us all inspiration. ❤
"We took our memories with us, and that was enough." Beautiful. And the new condo owners will make their own lovely memories. Looks like the memories from Portugal weren't quite enough though :) so exciting-happy for you that you made the leap to go back!
It feels like my big sis is back! Your videos helped me a lot with my anxieties when I was in Italy-I used to watch them all the time. From slow living to chasing my dreams or plans in life, your content was such a comfort. I hope you continue to inspire us!
Gosh, I am so darn happy for you Sophie and hubby! ....and thank you for the lessons and teachings in the end. I wish you all the best in beautiful Portugal!
Thank you for this, Sophie, and I am very happy for you and your husband. This video is also one I needed to see and to hear your words--your courage inspires me to do what's necessary to go for what I want. I am 63, have lived in Arizona for over 42 years, am self-employed as a document preparing lawyer, have my own practice, so the easiest thing to do would be to just stay and ride it out. I have always dreamed about living in mountains in the Pacific Northwest and want to move to NW Montana--I moved all over when I was younger and getting my education, taking summer jobs out of state, etc., but as I've gotten older, I tend to overthink things and why it is crazy to do it and let go of the security of "what is." Problem is, I am sick of the heat in Arizona, so the "what is" is just not that great--just a steady way to make an income. So, your video today was timely--I just need to have the courage to do it!
How I adore this video, I cried a little bit watching it. At the same time, I feel very happy for you that you've made the right choice, your story left so much inspiration in me, I used to live in a city for around 7 months, and when I left it, I was broken inside. I hasn't had a chance to go back and visit the city yet, it's been 4 years now since the pandemic... I feel your words talking about Portugal just exactly how I feel about the city I had left... I hope one day, I can be able to live my dream again. Thank you very much for sharing your story which conveys a beautiful message. You're very courageous for making it happen, very proud! I hope for the best for you, love. 🌺🌻🍃
Thank you Sophie 🙏! This video is so encouraging & inspiring. Sometimes all we need is a second chance. Welcome back to Europe! I'm from Austria 🇦🇹. I wish you all the best 💕

Welcome back to Portugal! My family moved here over a year ago and we love the lifestyle too❤hope you guys settle in well! Hugs from Viana do Castelo!!
I lived in Lisbon for a year across 2017… not a day goes past without me daydreaming of moving back… it felt like ‘home’, unlike my hometown of Hull, London where I lived for 15 years and Tokyo where I also lived for a year.
I'm so glad you moved back to Portugal, Sophie! You seem very happy there. I spent two weeks in Lisbon over the summer. It's been a place I've always wanted to visit, and I'm so glad I did. I will be back again for sure. Good luck in Portugal!
Welcome back - bem vinda de volta! Take your time to settle and I hope you enjoy this new chapter of life here as much as possible✨️ Ever wondered of hosting a wellness/mindfulness/minimalism mini event or workshop here with your portuguese fanbase? I would love it, and Im pretty sure a few other people would love that too!! Keep up the great work and vibes❤

This week I was re re watching your videos when you were in Portugal because they are my favourite ones. I always find food for my soul in them. So I was so happy to learn that you were back there. Welcome back to Europe Sophie ! ❤🙋♀
Congrats to both of you! I am glad you had the means to make this change that you wanted. I agree with your ‘sum-up’ at the end: go for the things that feel good to your heart; you can always change things later if it isn’t working out. I have been to Hawaii (beautiful !) but not to Portugal (your vid shows it to be a beautiful place as well), so I look forward to tag along with you as you explore and live there. ❤️
Two years ago I was watching your video about leaving Portugal as we were moving out of Switzerland, after living there for two years. Now I am watching your video as me and my husband are moving back to Switzerland. Every moment of this video speaks to me so much, it is incredible to see how much we can grow by just doing what is right in the moment and then come back with a completely new comprehension and gratitude on a whole another level for everything that was, is, and will be ❤
Thank you sooooo much for sharing this.... And helping everyone who watches it to BE brave and take the plunge... Do what you dream of❤😊 Namasté to all of you 🌿🙏🫶☀️
I love how positive and encouraging the comments are. You’ve built such a happy and peaceful place with your channel! Wishing you all the best and welcome back in Europe! Lots of love from Germany! 🇩🇪☀️💛
So happy for ye❤ cant wait to watch yere new life unfold. I wish ye love, blessings and a wonderful time in yere new adventure. So happy your videos are back....missed them loads❤❤❤
Aloha! Or shall I say Bom día! Just found your lovely, well-produced video. Wow! First you and the hubby are definitely blessed. Maui is my most favorite place on the planet at the moment but I can’t afford to live there. But I do visit often. And I could probably one day but I’d rather not focus on making money over enjoying the time I have left on earth. Two wonderful places. Two very different vibes. Yeah? What beautiful video and story. I am currently researching a move to Portugal so this was absolutely perfect timing. Planning a visit soon and can’t wait to see this lovely country and meet its beautiful people in person. Looking forward to following your journey. May you both be happy. May you both be safe! May you both be well. Mahalo for sharing your fascinating story❤🤙🏾
Wow! Glad to hear you moved to Portugal again. When you left it felt like an unfinished story. Can't wait to see you settle in once again. Hope for all the best for you and your family ❤
Greetings from Estoril...Originally from Texas...Been a legal resident here since 2016. I have traveled to almost every nook and cranny in Portugal...As an avid lover of hiking and nature the country offers everything in a small package...The calm and peace I feel here is beyond words...Been blessed to live, travel and work in over 42 different countries around the world...Yet Portugal continues to inspire me...There´s something around every corner when you least expect it...Bênçãos e energia positiva! 😉👌✌
Thank you for this! I moved back to a country I had previously moved abroad to and this gave me some solace knowing that it’s ok to also go back and forth. Wishing you a good start back in your new/previous home of choice. ❤
I always love your videos for their calm energy and the beautiful scenery in the background. Looking forward to enjoying Portugal vicariously! Best wishes to you both. ❤❤
I'm so happy for you, Sophie! I was quite wondering why the content isn't refreshing for the past weeks, but it's great to learn you're back in Portugal.
It is so lovely to see your face again 🥰 Lisbon is one of my favourite cities - have the most wonderful time continuing to settle in 🫶🏼 such happy news x
Back to Portugal! To such a wonderful and beautiful country. Hey guys, I’m so excited for you and wish you tons of new experiences, along with interesting, meaningful, and happy moments there. May all your dreams connected to Portugal come true! I’m happy for you and this brave decision. I can’t wait for new videos! Will a slow, simple, and intentional life also thrive in Portugal? I’m sure of it! I’m also so happy that I get to be part of your upcoming experiences and adventures through video, and I’m already saying a big thank you for that!
Such a warm hearted video loved it inspired you to stop and think about what matters to you and tic d o what feels right. Congratulations may you continue to make wonderful memories in this new chapter
Thank you for the great lesson. I'm on similar path as you, going back and forward from one country to another. I feel that I'm right now in one limbo waiting for things to get sorted or unfold so I could know what it's my next step. Thank you. Feeling much less alone on this journey right now 😊
Hey Wow, I did not see that coming! This is very exciting and congratulations to you guys! I was more surprised when you just arrived in Portugal and then it seems like you guys turned around and left just as fast.

I’m so happy for you
(and selfishly cannot wait for some film from that magical place!)
Maybe you'll go someday! (Or have you already?)
Welcome back!
This week I was re re watching your videos when you were in Portugal because they are my favourite ones. I always find food for my soul in them. So I was so happy to learn that you were back there. Welcome back to Europe Sophie ! ❤🙋♀
Aww thank you. I feel so inspired here ❤️
Bem-vindos de volta ❣
Every moment of this video speaks to me so much, it is incredible to see how much we can grow by just doing what is right in the moment and then come back with a completely new comprehension and gratitude on a whole another level for everything that was, is, and will be ❤
I am so happy for you, watching finally realizing your dream is inspiring ❤✨
❤️❤️❤️
I like it when your in Portugal, the videos are calming

So nice you get another chance Sophie 🩵
Good on you! Congratulations for your move! Fortune favours the brave. You won’t regret it.
You are my morning face that makes my day. The positive approach towards life❤❤

Wow! Glad to hear you moved to Portugal again. When you left it felt like an unfinished story. Can't wait to see you settle in once again. Hope for all the best for you and your family ❤
Amazing! Happy for you and good luck in your new journey ❤
Thank you ❤️😍
Greetings from Estoril...Originally from Texas...Been a legal resident here since 2016. 😉👌✌
I asked above, but I'll ask you directly: do you happen to know of a good, honest English speaking realtor in the Cascais and Estoril area? Thank you
@@Blue_Dun Greetings I do not know of any good Realtors here in Portugal...I rent my place directly from a owner...Boa Sorte!

Thank you for this! I moved back to a country I had previously moved abroad to and this gave me some solace knowing that it’s ok to also go back and forth. Wishing you a good start back in your new/previous home of choice. ❤

Thank you for the great lesson. I'm on similar path as you, going back and forward from one country to another. I feel that I'm right now in one limbo waiting for things to get sorted or unfold so I could know what it's my next step. Thank you. Feeling much less alone on this journey right now 😊
I’m in the same boat as you. You are not alone in this!
