While we were building our house we lived in a rental house that had a font load waster/dryer machine. It was very small, not a top brand and the dryer function was useless. We just stopped using the dryer and hung our laundry on a folding rack inside the house or out on the deck. How I wish that house had the powerful bathroom extractor fans that Usui shows us in every apartment!
I think the only thing I would do differently if I had your space is to get an electric kettle, a mug, a bowl, and a spoon. Then I could have tea or coffee whenever I wanted, or make instant noodles and soups. I would also have to get one more storage bin for under the bed, so that I could have some books and journals, because I can't imagine not writing things on paper ☺

Don't compromise on your bed, Usui. If the bed you have right now is comfortable, don't change it. Changing to something that folds up but comes with a worse mattress isn't going to serve you in the long term. Of course, it's your personal preference as to what kind of bed you like. But don't change to a less comfortable bed. I absolutely love that you have Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy in your emergency kit!

I would complete it with the following: - coffee machine - kettle (for tea) - mug - cutlery - 2 wine glasses - pictures on the wall - little fridge (could be placed on the washing machine) And I would choose a smaller chair and a smaller washing machine with a built-in-construct (for the reason that it looks nice).

If you had a Murphy bed which doubles as a desk then you can have a small refrigerator or storage on wheels where the desk currently resides. I would also utilize the vertical space above the washer and add two more shelves above the toilet.
I would add length to the legs of the bed so there would be more storage space under the bed, and put shelves above the laundry machine. The extra storage will be for fridge, microwave, snacks (ice cream) and tea/coffee. I hope you get some compensation for the products you use. The toilet brush and electric razor are things I would buy.

Thank you for this micro apartment tour and for showcasing some of the products. I'd love to see more of this type of dwelling in the U.S. Five or more of these units would probably fit in the same floor space as an average American home. It could be a solution to our housing affordability crisis. The only challenge I'd have is the kitchen because I like to cook at home, but otherwise, I think the space is very livable. I love Fumio Sasaki's ideas about the entire surrounding city as your personal living space. That was a new idea for me when I read his book...I feel it is the best book on minimalism that I've read. Currently I live off grid in the countryside in a small home, and I think of surrounding nature as my personal living space.
Your room is very efficient and probably set up just the way you like it. I really can’t imagine you living anywhere else with your minimalist outlook on life. This is a great idea! At the very least, a Murphy bed would allow you enough space to invite a friend to visit. That is the problem with micro apts and minimalist living. It doesn’t encourage gatherings. Sort of sad. 😕

Но три больших контейнера с коллекционными фигурками по Гарри Поттеру, Комиксам и Властелину Колец я никому не отдам😊 Да, даже при том, что мне уже исполнилось 34 годика, мне это важно. И растения! Обязательно горшки с растениями❤ Мне, как писателю, это просто неободимо! Иначе я не смогу работать😢 Но вот порядка и режима дня мне очень не хватает. Однажды я справлюсь с хаосом. Наверно🙃

Thank you Usui for the extended look at your apartment and congratulations on reaching 100,000 subscribers. Well done, you deserve it. I think you have made the right choices for furnishing your apartment. Using a futon (or sleeping bag) would mean having to clear the space before bed. You would also lose your under bed storage. A murphy bed would be good but the storage it offers is not as good as what you have. However, there is definitely one thing I disagree with - you are not lazy. No way are you lazy. 🤣😂🤣
I wouldn't change anything about the layout of your apartment. It's suitable based on your needs and lifestyle. I would, however, add a small headboard at the head of your bed for the accidental head bumps towards the wall. 😂😅 BTW, I'd love to purchase your book when you release it. 🎉
If not a murphy bed, your choice is perfect. I would probably store the desk at the head of the bed, sort of like a headboard. That would free up the underbed spot for another storage box. Also, investigate Command Strips instead of those staple ones (which do make tiny holes). Add a plant or two and one nice and colorful poster over the bed and it's perfection! Thank you so much for sharing. I'm inspired.
I would have a bunk bed with space underneath for a fridge and a freezer and cupboard. I would stock up on non-cook fruits and veg, plus pre-cooked meats, chicken and fish, etc. And maybe squeeze a narrow cupboard with hangers at the foot of the bed for seasonal clothes. 👍😁❣
You love your micro/minimalist space as it is and it seems to serve you perfectly. But I would prefer a small bedside table or cabinet with a drop leaf on its left side to serve as a desk. Then your lazy self would never have to fold and stow it under the bed. On that bedside stand, a table lamp could live. Warm, soft light might really enhance your feeling of well being and would be nice for reading books.
I watch decorating videos and love design. Thank you for showing the scale model & other options you considered. I agree with the other comments- a plant would be nice. A kettle and tea / ramen stock would be nice for those days where you don’t go out. Perhaps feeling ill. A bin for your toilet paper would keep them more hygienic and dry as the steaming shower could create moisture. Your background music was a nice choice. I really enjoyed your presentation style.

We can learn from you. I already thought I was a minimalist, but you taught me with this video that I am far from that. One tip: You can use sticky removable hooks. They can even hold 5 kg, so you can hang up small racks with them if you want to store some books. I have never seen staple hooks before, but they might hurt the walls. The food was surprising too because usually they love to eat miso soup on a minimalist diet but you come up with a Hotdog which they call a MOS Burger. Thanks for sharing your perspective! It is inspiring to see how a single person does things differently.

I could for sure live like this!! The apartment is so well planned out and efficient. I live in a dorm right now with my own room and bathroom, but I'm sharing a kitchen with the rest of the corridor. My living space is maybe twice as big, but having your own cooking station AND A WASHING MACHINE?! Is SO worth it! 😮❤️ Would take that apartment in a heartbeat 😊

I think you've worked out what is best for you and that's what counts! I like how you've thought the room out. As long as you get out some everyday the apartment shouldn't feel too small. And I love Douglas Adams and his Hitchhiker series so great choice there also! Lastly, good choice on the price of rent - I'm impressed!
I am happy your rent did not go up so you can stay in your home. But, I am also happy the possibly sent you on a micro apartment adventure and you took us along. I like the Command hanger system.
i actually love this way of life, keep everything simple, do your work and you can go out and explore ,experienced this recently, had a hotel room and it was not as small as this was but it was an awakening on what i need and not need for life. i would happy with this. you got everything you need. you have windows you can open i didnt, i had zero usb ports to charge my stuff good thing i brought my gear with me just in case. they had a huge tv i didnt need that, i had various things including my phone to watch or listen on and again zero usb chargers. forget the tv i dont care about that.
Since I started watching your videos, I decided to go minimalistic. After all, we do not take anything with us in the afterlife. 🤷 PS: I can't wait to read your book, for advice more than anything, since you have mastered being a minimalist. 🍀

Usui-san, you show us a lot of mico and mini apartments, but I must admit your apartment is probably one of the best. It may be small, but it has everything you need to live comfortably. It has a good design, plenty of light, and in a good location for your lifestyle.

I always wondered where do you keep your clothes! And now I have the answer. I son't think a micro apartment life it's for me as I love to cook and have nice tableware but I love to see how other people live. The only things I would change are a smaller washer/dryer unit, a sofa bed instead of the regular bed, and I would probably want a mini fridge and the induction cooktop plugged in so I have the option of cooking.

Потім треба використати цей кут саме для складального ліжка-шафи, яке ви можете навіть замовити у якогось столяра. І це два. А три - бракує хоча б однієї рослини. I think that the under floor storage is originaly intended to food, the way we used to have root cellars and pantries(that were cool dark areas. You only get the under floor storage with ground floor apartments though.

IDEA!!!! YOU bring Murphy beds to Japan! Open up a store & sell them until you've made MILLIONS! With so many micro apartments you'd made a huge profit....as soon as the Japanese people see how wonderful they are!
This is a great idea! At the very least, a Murphy bed would allow you enough space to invite a friend to visit. That is the problem with micro apts and minimalist living. It doesn’t encourage gatherings. Sort of sad. 😕
They actually do have them, but you have to order them.

Но три больших контейнера с коллекционными фигурками по Гарри Поттеру, Комиксам и Властелину Колец я никому не отдам😊 Да, даже при том, что мне уже исполнилось 34 годика, мне это важно. И растения! Обязательно горшки с растениями❤ Мне, как писателю, это просто неободимо! Иначе я не смогу работать😢 Но вот порядка и режима дня мне очень не хватает. Однажды я справлюсь с хаосом. Наверно🙃
Порядок и режим дня у писателя индивидуальный. Поэтому не напрягайтесь, живите в своем, пусть и отличном от других, ритме.

Thank you Usui for the extended look at your apartment and congratulations on reaching 100,000 subscribers. Well done, you deserve it. I think you have made the right choices for furnishing your apartment. Using a futon (or sleeping bag) would mean having to clear the space before bed. You would also lose your under bed storage. A murphy bed would be good but the storage it offers is not as good as what you have. However, there is definitely one thing I disagree with - you are not lazy. No way are you lazy. 🤣😂🤣
Other than the murphy bed, the choice you made is the best for sleeping. Far more comfortable than any of the other examples you showed.
I wouldn't change anything about the layout of your apartment. It's suitable based on your needs and lifestyle. I would, however, add a small headboard at the head of your bed for the accidental head bumps towards the wall. 😂😅

If not a murphy bed, your choice is perfect. I would probably store the desk at the head of the bed, sort of like a headboard. That would free up the underbed spot for another storage box.
Also, investigate Command Strips instead of those staple ones (which do make tiny holes).
Add a plant or two and one nice and colorful poster over the bed and it's perfection! Thank you so much for sharing. I'm inspired.
I would have a bunk bed with space underneath for a fridge and a freezer and cupboard. I would stock up on non-cook fruits and veg, plus pre-cooked meats, chicken and fish, etc. And maybe squeeze a narrow cupboard with hangers at the foot of the bed for seasonal clothes. 👍😁❣
You love your micro/minimalist space as it is and it seems to serve you perfectly. But I would prefer a small bedside table or cabinet with a drop leaf on its left side to serve as a desk. Then your lazy self would never have to fold and stow it under the bed. On that bedside stand, a table lamp could live. Warm, soft light might really enhance your feeling of well being and would be nice for reading books.
Of course, even a garden would be relaxing, but not at Tokyo prices😁.

I watch decorating videos and love design. Thank you for showing the scale model & other options you considered. I agree with the other comments- a plant would be nice. A kettle and tea / ramen stock would be nice for those days where you don’t go out. Perhaps feeling ill. A bin for your toilet paper would keep them more hygienic and dry as the steaming shower could create moisture.

We can learn from you. I already thought I was a minimalist, but you taught me with this video that I am far from that. One tip: You can use sticky removable hooks. They can even hold 5 kg, so you can hang up small racks with them if you want to store some books. I have never seen staple hooks before, but they might hurt the walls. The food was surprising too because usually they love to eat miso soup on a minimalist diet but you come up with a Hotdog which they call a MOS Burger. Thanks for sharing your perspective! It is inspiring to see how a single person does things differently.

I could for sure live like this!! The apartment is so well planned out and efficient. I live in a dorm right now with my own room and bathroom, but I'm sharing a kitchen with the rest of the corridor. My living space is maybe twice as big, but having your own cooking station AND A WASHING MACHINE?! Is SO worth it! 😮❤️ Would take that apartment in a heartbeat 😊

I think you've worked out what is best for you and that's what counts! I like how you've thought the room out. As long as you get out some everyday the apartment shouldn't feel too small. And I love Douglas Adams and his Hitchhiker series so great choice there also! Lastly, good choice on the price of rent - I'm impressed!

i actually love this way of life, keep everything simple, do your work and you can go out and explore ,experienced this recently, had a hotel room and it was not as small as this was but it was an awakening on what i need and not need for life. i would happy with this. you got everything you need. you have windows you can open i didnt, i had zero usb ports to charge my stuff good thing i brought my gear with me just in case. they had a huge tv i didnt need that, i had various things including my phone to watch or listen on and again zero usb chargers. forget the tv i dont care about that.
Since I started watching your videos, I decided to go minimalistic. After all, we do not take anything with us in the afterlife. 🤷
PS: I can't wait to read your book, for advice more than anything, since you have mastered being a minimalist. 🍀
The other good thing about minimilism is that you have less to clean/maintain, which give you more time for living.
When you said 'I don't cook' then that's the point that makes everything about this lifestyle makes sense😅😁However, this is still impressive! Everything looks amazing. What a good life!

I always wondered where do you keep your clothes! And now I have the answer. I son't think a micro apartment life it's for me as I love to cook and have nice tableware but I love to see how other people live. The only thing missing to your house in my opinion is a plant friend to keep you company! Thanks for the tour! Also luckily you chose the bed cause i can't imagine sleeping in a hammok or folding bed every night is good for your back

Since I'm on my feet my whole shift at work they have been the most comfortable for me. 😊
The only things I would change are a smaller washer/dryer unit, a sofa bed instead of the regular bed, and I would probably want a mini fridge and the induction cooktop plugged in so I have the option of cooking.

Дуже цікавий формат розповіді. Я симпатизую мінімалізму. Щодо благоустрою цього мешкання, то перша порада - зменшити вдвоє вікно, бо воно не пропорційне до розмірів кімнати. Потім треба використати цей кут саме для складального ліжка-шафи, яке ви можете навіть замовити у якогось столяра. І це два. А три - бракує хоча б однієї рослини. Бо зараз кімната більше схожа на шафу-купе. Мені дуже сподобався у вас ідеальний порядок та чистота😊, а також що ви цікавитеся думкою своїх глядачів! Привіт з Польщі!
Great micro-apartment, the storage in the floor surprised me!
I think that the under floor storage is originaly intended to food, the way we used to have root cellars and pantries(that were cool dark areas. You only get the under floor storage with ground floor apartments though.
