Great build and I really appreciate the time and effort you put into all your work and videos! Bought the plan, but I am not sure if I will ever build it. It looks very sturdy and I really appreciate the simplicity of the whole concept.
It reminds me of the beam hammers that were used in old blacksmith shops that were powered by water. That is so awesome!
I hope your god takes care of you and your family and provides you with everything you need and even more.
You are a blessing! Thank you sir!

Very good explanation of the differences in the build depending on where you are!

I'm going to build one for my shop just because It's interesting as heck and I can make tent stakes in ten seconds rather than two minutes. lol Thanks man. The only thing I'm going to do differently is come up with an interchangeable die system for the top and bottom. If I Change the pitch on the die I can make it a decent flatter for different stalk maybe.

Thanks for the video ! Brand new beginner to smithing. Was just getting ready to build my first hammer (the divinci cam , your plans ) Then you put this up the very day I was getting materials. The question is ... Will this be a good beginning hammer to use? I want to build only one for right now. I plan on making large axe heads. Thanks for your vids !

    Thanks a lot, answered a lot😃
Can you show us how to control the hammer, like if you want to do one hard hit? How much can you control such a hammer? And do you think plain bearing made out of wood would be enough for the bearings on a DaVinci can hammer or the better version of it?

I order the plans but I need a couple clarifications. What is the "cat 1 adjustable top link",? I see you need two of them and you said tractor supply but im not sure which one or exactly what it is. Also does the leaf spring in the plans have to be cut any particular length? and the one I buy from tractor supply is it any particular size or length? Thx John

Considering building one of these. Tried various types in my garage but they were all too much for the foundation. Will I have to reinforce my foundation with this one?

I'm wondering what this unit's limitations are in your view. Obviously it's no 90 ton press or gigantic drop forge hammer. But would you say it lives at around the 1/2" bar area? The 1/4" knife maker's neighborhood?
Also it looks as though you aren't getting the most out of that "snap" you mentioned. The sweet spot so to speak, of the hammer blow.
I understand that there is a feature built into the design of the hammer to facilitate that?
It seems as though if you had a significant amount of weight that you could slide front-to-back then you could tune that whipping motion even more no?
    Great video, thanks.

of course nothing is a be all,end all and,of course, nothing lasts for an eternity but this design looks to me like a bargain as far as cost of time and material...if someone can make something like this for less than $1000 it's a very good deal!

well lets put it this way you see how long wooden stuff can last even with just a bit of paint and in an outdoor setting in snow rain and wind, and that is for many years, so it should with propper care and a watchful eye it should last a couple decades of moderate use, you might have to replace parts of frame or the anvil and work on the moving parts but the helve should last a long time, will you be forging 12 hours a day with it no its not made to do that kind of work, but even with heavy use it should not break down over night I can promise that much as a woodworker, we woodworkers have used saw horses for long periods of hard use holding stuff day in and out in building, so if you use good fasteners it will last you a long time, a century problably not, but I would say moderate use a couple decades conservatively, you have to keep it out of the weather though and make sure the joints stay tight to keep it held togather, but just look at the weathering decks can take holding heavy furnature sets, wood if treated will last you a really long time.

Gee 8 + minutes video and you don't even turn on the hammer.
