Going on a month of use with my hammer and it’s a great tool! Well worth building
Glad to hear it sir!
I've been thinking hard on it. Build this or get a smaller manufactured one. Hopefully this time next year I'll have a building lol. My "shop" is a 3 walled canopy. Keeps it dry and little wind. Enough to for ventilation. But yea, I'd like to make Damascus art pieces. Blades too, but I love the patterns people can get. Seen a dude make patterns out of dolphins! What?!? Lol
My came into my office as I was watching this and said it was "a blacksmith's yule log screen saver".
Now that plans are up time to go shopping lol. Thanks so much for the update, time, effort, and the frustration you deal with by making these. You save us all time and energy by going through it for us. Thank you again and God Bless both of you, Roy and Jessica. You help keep this beautiful trade alive and give greenhorns hope to create beyond themselves, giving them ambitious goals that are sorely needed in this time of instantaneous gratification. God Bless
looks like it works well. I want to build the one that uses a tire and leaf spring with vertical hammer strokes. space saving and powerful with plenty of control. maybe only 40 lb starting out.
Great hammer design/build - something most can probably build themselves and save a bundle - plus save their arms and shoulders. I know when I made my hammer, it opened up a lot of new projects I would have never considered before. So, congrats and thanks for sharing.
Thank you for posting your step-by-step build process for your hammer. Still, I would have liked to have seen the hammer in your initial video but greatly appreciate the detail you have is in your build. ❣️🤗☺️
That looks surprisingly simple and effective. Especially for what you made it from it’s nice and powerful!
asked/answered, pattern welding possible!!!. You two are national treasures.
That thing works great, glad to see it finished.
Very ingenius piece of equipment. Thanks for sharing and giving us ideas. God bless my friend
Thanks Chuck!
Love the medieval,Renaissance look of it! Plus its functional...I'm in! Great work Roy! Merry Christmas to all...
So cool to see what you can build with your own hands
That thing puts alot of power in the word wack it did all the yacking for you, awesome job and a major motivated to get to work. Thank you and God bless 📖✝
Wow! Can’t wait to build mine. Winter project.
That's awesome, for a diy it is great for the home blacksmith.
That's awesome, I need to finish my build. I loved the video, have an amazing day.
Looks pretty effective. Good work.
Thanks for all the videos sir! Very helpful! That hammer is radtastic!!!
second comment, seems to work fairly effective not as fast as some hammers though but its faster then beating iron by hand.
Love the design but wouldn't the fixed angles of the striking surfaces cause wedging due to the ark of the arm? To thick of a material and you get < too thin and you get >? If you used a single bolt center mount with 5-10 degrees of float instead of a two bolt fixed mount would the hammer be able to adjust to the metal? I am planning a build in the near future and I an curious as to whether or not you have tried something like this.
Good hammer !
Not bad for mostly being made from wood. Looks like it works great.
I just found this series of Videos and bought the plans from you. Had a couple questions on the big bearing hoped you could answer. The side plates on the bearing are they also 1/4" like the housing or could I use 1/8"? The other question is rather than use the 1" round bar for the bearing could I use real 1" ball bearings. I hope you can help me with these couple questions. Thank you and God Bless!!
I love this video, I would love to see a lot more of your power hammer.....
Well done!
I downloaded the plans and would like to build this tool. The individual pages are helpful. Is there any chance you have an assembly diagram? I am trying to match up the Amazon parts to what I see in the image and I'm coming up short. Can we buy the cam from somewhere or is that a custom order from somewhere? I see the power switch on the side and also a Treadle assembly but no call out or detail for an activation switch which attaches to the treadle switch? Personally (Maybe I am a bit dumber than I should be) I think I need a little more direction than the diagrams. Also the accompanying video is all on usage. Do you have a video on assembly or from one side while the system is running?
Plans bought and downloaded. Parts (minus motor) purchased. Any advice on where to get two 3"x4"x5.5" die blocks?
Never seen anyone use a fuller for such a thick cut off. Always seen folks break out gueatine(sp I know, phone dictionary don't know) in a Hardy hole. Then again, me and all the folks I know personally are still swinging a manual hammer🐒
Someday... someday I will build one.
Are you going to make other dies for this, besides the flat? Nice hammer by the way
Any chance that the wood warps over time from all the hitting? Or chance of splintering at the point of impact? Just curious. Nice build you should be proud!!!!! God bless
3:20 All I can think of is: COOOOKIIIEEE OM NOM NOM NOM NOM NOM NOM NOM!!
No doubt that is powerful. In other power hammer videos you were able to show great control over the hammer will this one still work for detailing or is it just too big?
I’d call that a thumping great success👍😎😎😎I bet you had smashing time👍🤣👍🤣👍
lol...well played sir.
if you were to guess, about how much square footage does the PH take up?
Awesome
Is it just me or at 5:38 the Weld in the center isn't set?
Only problem I have is it doesn’t seem like it’s hitting completely square...
I am interested in your power hammer/beam hammer plans.I have been really learning a lot from your videos. Its awesome you love the lord too.Do you sell the hammers in kits or already built also?Let me know.Im not sure you will even see this message nor am I very tech savy.I will be looking forward to a response although Im not even sure you can directly respond to comments.Anyways.Thank you for all the info you share
Hi Blaine, Thanks for your question. At this time, Roy doesn't offer kits or prebuilt hammers. Hope you have a great day! ~Sincerely, Jessica

+Mark Ling $500-$600 high-end All new material and $300-$400 low end used or mostly second hand material
