@@BIGDOGFORGE try putting a spring
Sir if you are reading this, I want to tell you,
YOU ARE AMAZING 😍🤩👍
Thank you so much 😀
Simple, to the point for operation. Great design. Thank you for sharing!
Thank you so much sir, as a young blacksmith looking to build everything on my own, people like you and videos like yours are helping me tremendously in my career. So I just wanted to thank you for sharing your knowledge and skills - Tyler Cordoni
Awesome, thank you!
I second the statement thanks a ton.
Really like the simplicity and effectiveness. Thanks...
I’ll be go to hell. I just put a second self contained power hammer in my shop. Now this. Very simple. Hits hard. Efficient. Absurdly easy to make. LOVE IT!!
Will soon expand my smithy and will have room to build this.
Finally, a straightforward and easy to understand design. Now I’m looking for a giant sledgehammer head.
Nice and probably better for a older hobbyist BlackSmith like me,
Compare to anything cheap and cheap is doable for us all.
The treadle hammer is alot older than most people think! There is an example of one in the book Otto Schmirler Werk and Werkzug of the Kuntschmeide. when I had this book at the time of publication the photo shown was 100 years old!
Very simple and practical idea, thanks
At 1:06, it's nice to see a gentleman working with his PHD!
Once again the “hey I need one of those” and “hey I could build that” light bulbs are both going off simultaneously!
Nice build!
Sir after tearing both rotater cuffs, I thought my time forging was finished. With your video I can return to shop. The physiotherapist retore my right shoulder and they told me no surgery can fix it this time. I dont know what you think your videos do but know this you just gave me the power to return to work. God bless and thank you.
Thank you and bless you as well. take care and be safe..
Well you got me hooked. Thanks for the video
So much this.
THIS is the kind of thing I like to see - just make it up & get it done.
Awesome build!! 👍👍
I've been looking for an easy-ish light duty power hammer build for a while now, but this is even better! Might just have to source myself a heavy hammer...
Like a 3rd hand, I knew there was a better way Thanks for sharing
So simple and definitly usefull. Thanks for shARING..AFTER SEEING ALL THE OTHER DESIGNS ON YOU TUBE. THIIS ONE IS THE EASIEST AND MOST COST EFFECTIVE WAY TO GO ..THANKS AGAIN.
Dude that is awesome!!!! I'm going to build one soon, thank you for sharing your build!
Awesome upload, thank you!! This is *exactly* what I’ve been hoping to come across. I’ve had a repetitive stress injury for almost a year now with my right elbow that simply refuses to heal which has really gotten between my son and my own progress with a backyard smithing venture. This will help greatly offset this god awful tennis elbow crap and allow us to move forward, much appreciated, following!!
The fastest Treadle Hammer built I have ever seen !
So simple yet so effective. Very nice
Thank you! Cheers!
Very simple thanks for sharing
I've been looking at different ways to make my own lill hammer setup, and I love your twist on this design. Cheers
tnx bro for giving me a simple but powerfull idea in builting my own power hammer
Most welcome 😊
If you put a nice three inch x six X six inch solid block in the bottom of the hole the hammer base post will hold it's hieght and stay a lot more stable longer!same with the back post as well!
This is amazing...I have never seen anyone dig a hole without using a spud bar. Where I live, holes like that take HOURS to dig due to Red clay and ROCKS...Impressive!
You gotta try digging a hole in Florida sugar sand. You can use your big toe to make a hole for fence posts. Only problem? Fences flop over if a purring kitten rubs against them too hard!
Ah good ole georgia red clay! I tried living in the wild when covid first started to test my survival skills... Kinda. Still had my car and was homeless, but I had a blast praying and being in YAHUAHs nature :)
I tried my hand at primitive pottery, but the clay had too much silt in it and not enough plasticity? It couldnt keep its form well when rolled between the hands. Great learning experience, and id love to try some more pottery with professional clay. Id just fire it in a normal fire or my forge.
Blacksmithing comes first. Survival knife, axe and sword come first ;)
Same ground here, not much fun, just outside Birmingham, Al.
I'll have to bookmark this one...
Thanks for watching Chuck.
Right new project for me in the works thanks for the inspiration 🙏
Well, you just reminded me of my own treadle hammer project that is 85% finished. I'll have to get back to it.
I’ve watched so many videos for this idea and this is honestly the first one that made me say Hey I think I can pull that off. I’m going to be giving this serious consideration
I love the design, my only addition would be to concrete them in several feet for that stability. Im honestly going to try to build one of these soon!
If you wanted to solve the issue of the forward post driving into the ground, if you dig a trench prior and make a base with concrete , the post would have a stop to drive into
Love it! I'm keeping this for when I have room to put one in my shop!
Nicely done and explained.. thanks
I tell you what? I just Love the the laughs!!!
I think pup pup wanted to know why you could dig a hole and he couldn't ROFL
I'd like to try a little forging, but it'll take a while. I like that hammer ALOT.
The only part of have a problem with is the thing your hitting lol
But very doable!!!
Newbee here GOD Bless😇
Great design, great video
You have awesome sense of humor! I enjoy watching your videos in part due to it also for your blacksmithing !
Dang it!! Another project, at least it's a good design. Thanks Tim.
Awesome video! I’m looking to build something similar for my renaissance faire blacksmithing shop, and I really appreciate the straightforward way you explained it. This will be a ton of help
Phd gave me a great chuckle
That was an awesome build brother.
Thanks 👍
Its a simple, no brain, pocket money treadle hammer and really cool! Any idiot could do that, its a no brainer! Just don’t upset you’re dog by digging up his bones! Thanks Tim, its a great one!
This is such a cool build and it takes no time at all! I'm definitely going to make one for my shop. Liked and subbed!
Thanks for showing the basic layout! Anyone who can do basic welding and fab can run with that ball. I have a bad right shoulder so I'm going to weld something like that but mobile and all metal so it won't loosen
Looks awesome Tim ! Keep up the great work and content :-)
Thanks brother.
My dogs get excited too when I'm digging. Be it a hole or trench.
A grown child with a new toy! Great job Tim I like it I think I'll have to build one.
Great video Tim. I need to build one for my shop.
COOL HAMMER !
I've been a big fan of Rune's channel for a while. Your hammer came out excellent. This is such a simple build, I really need to get of my lazy tail and make one.
I have been following Bertram for quite a while awesome guy skilled smith👍
About the only thing that I would add to this would be a "T" shaped post in front of this hammer to rest my but on so I could keep my balance while hammering. I'm just 75 and sometimes I need a little help.
You and me both ;
I always find your videos very relaxing after a rough day at work. I really enjoy them.
Thank you very much and thanks for watching. Take care and be safe.
How good was that. Earmarked this for after I've built my forge.😉
Awesome build, Tim!
Thanks!
Great design! I've been putting off building one for too long because my brain keeps wanting to over-engineer things. This simpler approach is so much better.
Really enjoyed your video so much better than regular TV
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
КЫРГЫЗСТАН
Easiest one I have seen. Now I want to make it! Thank you sir.
Great video so glad I watched it
Nice job hi from yamba Australia
Thanks for watching.
I’m retired boilermaker. So I decided to use my trade and start forging . I’m setting up a old school forging. I want everything man powered . I like how you explain the making of the hammer. I believe after a few videos on how to build one . I’ll be going with yours . Seams simple and straightforward
Push the button, but don’t forget. It is always worth watching. Thank you I like this simple build.
Thanks for that!
Very nice!
Definitely going to give this idea a swing at some point
I wonder if there would be a way to keep it as a treadle hammer, but add a cam to it for some rudimentary power hammering? I have an old bench grinder that might work a treat for the job
Fantastic build
Thanks!
Thanks for breaking this down! I follow both of you guys so it's funny that I had just asked him about his treadle hammer and here you are showing how it is done.
Nice Tim, going to save this so I can make one once my shed is built. A thought, instead of making new punches, how about adding a hammer pivot point higher up, extend your angle irons up another 12 - 18 inches and add 1 or 2 more pivots, easer than making a whole bunch of new punches and other tools
Simple Easy and Working Great
My next project thanks!
Looks like big dog is impressed with your digging, I bet he wants help burying his next bone. 1.2 thousand views and I'm the first to like ? I highly doubt that !
I didn't think it could be that simple (or elligant). Nicely done. Looking forward to seeing what you create with it.
Fantastic Tim! If my knees weren't shot I'd build one today. Maybe I'll put the spring up front with a small motor and cam.
Great and simple idea! I could use something like that in my shop. I was a combat engineer in the Army. We used to say we were a high speed low drag air cooled self propelled pop-up target with a PHD (post hole digger). :D
Me too. Ron
I love this build, thanks for sharing!
Wow. So simple yet so effective.
I never knew you had a PhD!? It really does dig some beautiful holes! 😉 That's pretty impressive how simple it can be to make one of these with how effective it is, looks like it works great as an extra hand too. Thanks for sharing
Building mine as of today, everything is ready for the posts to be set, thanks Tim,and Bertram for the inspiration to build one in this way.I already had all the materials ,inlcuding the spring, really stoked.
Nice.....Once the wood shop is complete, I will add a smithy onto the back. What you have built is similar to what I was thinking. Nice to see one in operation. I was given an anvil with the horn broken off that I will use under the hammer.
nicely done... great device! You're probably too young to remember, but your narration reminds of the Scuttle-Butt Lodge outdoors show in the 60's... love it.
Wow such a simple hammer. Seems to work very well. Can’t wait for the grinder build.
simple and effective, also looks like fun.
that is a super simple build there, cant wait to see the treadle grinder.
Good build video, Tim! Big Dog did a good job of watching. Looked like she wanted to help!
That is GREAT. Simple yet effective.
That is an amazing build. Thank you for sharing.
That was great Tim, inspiring in how simple it was to put together! Thanks for sharing as always!
I love this design Tim simple and solid
Awesome Tim! Love your simplicity of building things and how you always recycling items. Keep it up!
Man, I want one of those, too! It'd be great to have both hands free.
Great stuff man, thanks
Yep... my next build, gonna throw my own spin on it of course
I’m so impressed by that way of doing it.
Beautiful
That's great video bro Im looking forward for more video of you
I appreciate it
Great video! I’m going to use it to build my own!
This is a real easy way to put a hold on something. Enjoyed your video. Have a wonderful day.
Good stuff. Been wanting to put one together myself. I have the Hammerhead the Springs some Lumber. Now I just need to steal for the Anvil Block
Thanks , do to a recent run in with a cow I cant swing a hammer for a while, I think I will build one so I can keep moving metal.
Sounds great!
