    I've been watching videos about this style hammer for a bit, and you're the first to make me chuckle in your description... "couple dozen nails, more is better..." Just awesome

    Sir after tearing both rotater cuffs, I thought my time forging was finished. With your video I can return to shop. The physiotherapist retore my right shoulder and they told me no surgery can fix it this time. I dont know what you think your videos do but know this you just gave me the power to return to work. God bless and thank you.

    This is amazing...I have never seen anyone dig a hole without using a spud bar. Where I live, holes like that take HOURS to dig due to Red clay and ROCKS...Impressive!

    • @tomsensible3999
      @tomsensible3999 5 років тому +2

      You gotta try digging a hole in Florida sugar sand. You can use your big toe to make a hole for fence posts. Only problem? Fences flop over if a purring kitten rubs against them too hard!

      Ah good ole georgia red clay! I tried living in the wild when covid first started to test my survival skills... Kinda. Still had my car and was homeless, but I had a blast praying and being in YAHUAHs nature :)
      I tried my hand at primitive pottery, but the clay had too much silt in it and not enough plasticity? It couldnt keep its form well when rolled between the hands. Great learning experience, and id love to try some more pottery with professional clay. Id just fire it in a normal fire or my forge.
      Blacksmithing comes first. Survival knife, axe and sword come first ;)

I believe after a few videos on how to build one . I’ll be going with yours . Seams simple and straightforward

    The treadle hammer is alot older than most people think! There is an example of one in the book Otto Schmirler Werk and Werkzug of the Kuntschmeide. when I had this book at the time of publication the photo shown was 100 years old!

    Awesome upload, thank you!! This is *exactly* what I’ve been hoping to come across. I’ve had a repetitive stress injury for almost a year now with my right elbow that simply refuses to heal which has really gotten between my son and my own progress with a backyard smithing venture. This will help greatly offset this god awful tennis elbow crap and allow us to move forward, much appreciated, following!!

    Nice Tim, going to save this so I can make one once my shed is built. A thought, instead of making new punches, how about adding a hammer pivot point higher up, extend your angle irons up another 12 - 18 inches and add 1 or 2 more pivots, easer than making a whole bunch of new punches and other tools
