Trying Traditional Malaysian Food
Вставка

- There's nothing like feeling at home in a place that is far from it (Canada, in our case!). We get the warm and fuzzies at our 'local' restaurant in Malaysia where the food is delicious and the people are super friendly. We love to order traditional Malaysian food from the huge menu. In this video, we take you along for a huge meal of some of the best of Malaysian cuisine: roti canai, roti cheese, nasi goreng ayam, mee goreng ayam, soto ayam, sirap ros, sirap laici, nasi kulipis, and roti bom, which is so good it makes other food feel bad about itself. It all gets washed down, of course, with Malaysia's national drink: teh tarik.

Eileen Aldis, i’d always have hot drinks even when it’s hot outside.. so, you tried Milo Ais!(iced Milo)..my fav!..✌🏻
Your enthusiasm is so contagious! Love it! Looks like you guys are having so much fun.
@@haneejublee1320 Thanks for your vote in the hot vs cold drink debate ;) Yes, we had iced Milo. So good!
@@iguava Thank you!! We definitely are! 😁
teh tarik its #1 in the world..😊😊
The reason why the waiter was nice to you is mainly because both of you is a nice person. Your laugh and smile is so pretty and contagious, Eileen.
ya!
indian waiter is always nice. At least to me
@@liecretsev agreed. :)
you have mastered the art of eating rice with a fork and noodle wt a spoon.
Hahha.. I was like what was he doing ?. Fork for fried rice?.
aha... teknik dia makan tu. makan mi pakai sudu sbb dia nak telah mi dan kuah sekali gus. manakala, pakai garfu utk nasi goreng, supaya lebih sejuk dan boleh nampak apa hendak dikunyah.
@@foongjunemeng8935 was it a *HE* ?
Because they mainly use fork and knife in Canada. So basically eating rice with fork is a normal thing to them. And im not sure about the noodles and spoon
Westerners eats with fork and knife even rice because rice is considered as side dish...not the main dish where us in Asia use fork and spoon for almost everything...but traditionally we eat with hand and that's the best! Also depends on what type of food...
Did you notice that the waiter didn't write down your order and just remembering it his head?
Amazingly he can bring the correct food that you've ordered. That is the beauty of 'kedai mamak' in Malaysia 😁
Sometimes.....
There is one mamak stall that I used to go that able to remember all our order of 10+ people.
In Malaysia, they usually like that, they are really amazing!
dua org boleh la.. kalau masuk 4 org.. acah ingt je.. smpai order tunggang langgang
@@hatimarrazi9605 tapi mmng ada lah.
make me crave for malaysian food. wait...i am malaysian..gotta hit mamak food stall after this. great vid. hope you enjoyed your stay here
you guys are hidden gem in traveling video vlogger community.. love this
I just love your food reviews. You're open to new food and you're such a happy eater. *Subscribed
Can't believe you all can eat that much at a time. A roti canai for me already full.. Haha. Nice to have you in Malaysia. Enjoy your day.
There is something about eating hot soup in hot weather when in Asia. It works for some reason. We hardly ever do in NYC
It's interesting how we keep certain habits at home and others away. I doubt Marc will ever be into the hot drink/soup on a hot day though 😂
Can’t believe i rewatched this vlog at 2am, damn now i’m hungreeyyyhhh!!😫😫😫
Btw, are you guys still in KK, Sabah? Make a tour to Sabah neighbouring state, Sarawak or even Brunei..? Perhaps..🤷🏻♀️

Ketupat sotong....
Oh my God...u guys makes me feel so hungry right now and craving for Malaysian food...
KK,my hometown, terribly missing "balik kampung". Nice video guys🍻
Great video! Not surprised you guys were stuffed: that was one heck of a feast. All looks delicious though and seems a very friendly place. Good of them to tone down the chili levels: think I would go a bit hotter, but I imagine the regular heat might be a lot for many outside Asia.
you guys should try iced Sirap Limau, it's really refreshing too.
Mmm sounds good!
You guys went my fav restaurant in Sabah..thk you for visit Malaysia..

Love Nasi Goreng Ayam our local Cinese takeaway in Otley used to do it very delish
OMG you guys eat that much... Haha. Now you know how good is malaysian food. ✌️✌️
Good to see you guys enjoying Malaysian food. Being adventurous is fun, but I'd call you guys foodventurous (if there were such a word, but who cares?]
Nasi kulipis also known as burasak..btw..thankyou for coming to Malaysia have a nice travel
Awesome dear
Glad you enjoyed it!
I would like to think of myself as a big eater, but watching you guys wolfed down a meal enough for five people, I realized that my eating prowess is everything but big. Thanks for the video. You made me miss home. From a Malaysian abroad.
haha well we can't eat these foods every day ;) We made a lot of videos in Malaysia (here: bit.ly/malaysiaplaylist) and many involve foods for good reason! Happy you enjoyed this one. Where do you live now?
@@EileenAldis
Thanks for the link. I'm sure they are amazing, but I'm trying my best NOT to binge-watch videos about Malaysian food? You know what I mean. LOL! Currently living in Vienna, Austria, but at the moment am on a two-week, work-related trip to California. I don't blame you. I would usually go back to Malaysia for a period of 2-3 weeks every year, usually in October and when I was there, I can't stop stuffing my face either.
Anywho, take care and have a nice day, wherever on earth the both of you are now.
@@henkwilliemadriannusvander1955 haha ok understood ;) Safe travels to you!
I subscribed!! And I’m Malaysian
Thank you!!
not sure if its just me or ... when the clip started look like morning to me.. and when the clip nearing the end.. its sundown... eat all day huh... legend.. xD
Hye there.. im happy to see that u both having a blast with our malaysian cuisine's.. hey, who doesnt love to eat eh?? Hehe..
That aside, bout the traditional food part tho, its..urrmm how do i say this.. well, all the food u've ordered in this video tho is not really *"traditional"* perse but more like everyday meal to us here in malaysia haha..
But if u realy wanna try some genuine traditional malaysian food, by that i mean, its rare even for us as a local, because we normaly make or eat traditional food during a certain period of time only, for a big celebration day for example, like hari raya festival for muslims, or deepavali for an indians and theres also a *"state cultural food"* .. its mostly easier for u to get *"those"* kind of exquisite food when the time for 1type of celebration when its in around da clock..like 1week before the actual celebration date. U should try to check out our calender.
For the state cultural food part, well like the name itself, u have to go to that place to have it haha..
lets say, in kelantan, they have a variety of food made from fish, clam, prawn ect. Basicly traditional seafood kinda food.
In sarawak they got lots types of traditional fruit wine stuff, rice wine, coconut wine etc.
In sabah they got a forest concept of traditional food or u could say a very *"primitive era"* type of food like seriously, u cant find it anywhere else.
Wheww i talk (or shall i say..write??) a lot..ahaha..
Well, that shows how much i like and appreciate ur video..hehe so yeah, u should check out 1 of those list that i suggest.. happy hunting..
Aww... you guys are So cute!
Why thank you 😘😉
I always have an extra white rice, when I know it is going to be cili burung spicy.
Water x work as well as white rice or cold fruit to combat burning tongue
You have to try the local Kadazandusun cuisine too!
u keep giggling and thats really entertaining.. makes me happy
I just wanna give a suggestion when you guys eating rice(nasi) you guys may use spoon to scoop it into your mouth 🤤btw this video is so so nice
if u don't like hot tea, you can order teh tarik ais (iced teh tarik), a cold version of teh tarik
Fork and spoon are use together when eating that soto, nasi goreng ayam and mee goreng.
You are so cheerful, enjoy your food hunting!!=)
you should try ROTI TISU as well 🤣 i would say it is better than roti bom. Its crunchy, cone-like shape and sweet, oh and also served with condensed milk
Cool !
Canada is in my wish list.. i hope i will be there soon!
That's great to hear! 🇨🇦
All my favorite food,..😍😍😍😍😍
Wonderful food and drinks, which you thoroughly enjoyed. BUT. what does the word CAM mean at the end of the title of each course?
Hi Eileen I'm Aileen. Hehe
Anyway kotakinabalu is my hometown.
Greetings from Philippines. 😊
Try roti bom with curry...very delicious combination spice-sweet-salty. Tips: u can ask mamak for 2 dips...sometimes 3 (curry/dhal/sambal/condensed milk) at one time, they wont mind especially when u ordered that much of food loll 😆
Also, must try roti banjir (roti canai topped with lots of curry+dhal...not dip)
