As a Malaysian, personally I prefer unfiltered, uncensored honest opinion. I know a lot of people/foreigners when asked for comment tend to just highlight the positives. And content creators tend to edit out the negatives because lets be honest, people love to be praise especially Malaysian, and especially when it comes to food matters.

I've been to all the big cities in Southeast Asia, and I'd say Kuala Lumpur is more relaxed than Bangkok and Saigon, cleaner than Jakarta and Manila, and cheaper than Singapore. Yep, every city has its own uniqueness, pros & cons, but Kuala Lumpur is the best city for you to explore food and culture from all over Asia in one place, with family and kids. It’s like a sandwich of all the flavors in a discount price.
I already been to France and England. it is also not clean at all like media shows you. America also. full of trash all over the street. Malaysia much more cleaner than Thailand and Indonesia. its more diverse in all aspect like nature & food. more unity in one place. btw tq for the opinion, will create the Malaysia better ❤

I worked at golden areas in KL. The building block I work there is full of rubbish and cigarettes butt, a sign already show no smoking and littering but the people still dirty it. Very dissappointed. Please don't defend, is will make Malaysia never improve.

It's better to leave it raw and uncensored, especially the bit about the homeless and the areas that are not so clean. Those are generally issues that most countries face, even in Japan! But it's also fair to say that the cleanliness of KL city has improved over the years, especially the rivers, drainage systems and the increased walk paths that's making KL a more walkable city. This is one of the best champ because there's no sugar coating. People opening up and expressing themselves good or bad. Those negatives raised really only minor and hardly offensive. Cleanliness is certainly not just an issue in areas of Malaysia, same with Indonesia, Cambodia, Thailand amongst others. Sometimes it is very hard to find a dustbin. Make me stress out too. Many dustbins means more potential of IED location. Even now dustbins are placed strategically for safety reasons. I am really stressed when looking for dustbins.
I don't know what's going on with the other states but here where I live, the politicians here hold the money the most and the rest are invested in the actual purpose of the money. These people shouldn't worked with a minimum legal wage.

Honestly, I can’t wait to go back to Malaysia. Worked there for a year and it was amazing. Lovely people, safe, great weather and food. Much better than the UK. ❤
Back in the mid 70s my Father was sent, by his Company to Open offices in South East Asia of all the Countries he visited he always, mentioned Malaysia as the most, that impressed him the diverse Culture, the Art, Music ect. RIP Dad I miss you very much.

Lived in Malaysia for 5 years and it's a lovely country. Very tolerant people. Never once felt like I was descriminated against but then again never met anyone who didn't like me. Haha. Going to visit Langkawi again soon
I am just so proud of the Malaysians who are big hearted enough to stomach the criticism and acknowledge that certain areas especially the area of cleanliness is in need of improvement, although we may be even cleaner than certain areas in London and Paris. You guys have shown such great attitude that it gives me hope for this lovely country that I call home!
I spent about 5 years in Malaysia (now back in the UK), I was living in Kuala Lumpur and visited many places around the country. Also travelled around the rest of Asia too. For me KL is like a second home, the people are great, the food is amazing, the public transport is great and affordable, rent is affordable, the internet is fast, the quality of life is super worth it for what you pay, especially compared to neighbouring cities like Bangkok, Jakarta or Singapore (all of which I also like by the way!). I'd get PR in Malaysia if I could (hopefully in the future!) ❤🇲🇾

Malaysian has a healthy growing population so manpower isn't so much an issue here as with some other countries with an ageing and shrinking population. One of the few ways for you to apply Residency would be through the Malaysia My Second Home (MM2H) program. You can do a Google search to find out details - "MM2H". Requirements for Sabah and Sarawak (East Malaysia) differs slightly too, so you can Google that as well. The program does require a substantial investment in the country and proof of income. So if you're young and not financially stable, sadly chances are low.
We are matured enough to know there is no country in the world only good things there. We can accept the negative feedbacks and hope the relevant people can take action to improve them. Let's hear more honest and genuine feedback :)
Yes agreed, Malaysians are generally quite humble as compared to some egoistic nation (especially the one on the south of Malaysia) who cannot accept even constructive criticism at all.
Old central KL is falling apart. Broken infrastructure everywhere. And squatters living in abandoned buildings. People sleeping in the streets everywhere when I came in by bus early morning from Singapore to Beryaya Square. Walking Jalan Pudu down to the city center this summer was a horror story. It seems the chinese are leaving the city and poor indians moving in. This was evident in the Brickfields area where I had my hotel. But going through the Butterworth-Penang area later it was another story. Much different and definitely prosperous.
As a foreigner, I can also state I nearly left when I first visited Kuala Lumpur because I thought it was too dirty. However, over time I started to notice how much I was enjoying my time. I felt like the city was less frantic than Bangkok or Jakarta, but still offered a wide range of culinary options. Solid infrastructure, reliable wifi, good shopping options (Spent a lot of time at MidValley, One Utama, and Pavillion) and when I wanted a cleaner, Mote laid back area, I headed to Desa Park City vicinity. There are some beautiful parks around the area as well, and I made some fantastic hiking buddies. Sure there are things to be critical of, but overall, Malaysia won me over. Funny story... I invited my uncle to come spend a few weeks with me in KL... He had a great time and declared Sarawakian Laksa one of hid new favorite foods. Shortly thereafter we went on a trip to Tokyo and then Bangkok together. Afterwards, when talking to his family about his trip I heard him say: Honestly I liked Malaysia better. Lol

I don't feel offended and i love it much more because as Malaysian i love that tourist came here and be human being. Every other country has its own positive and negative side so it's matter of preference of what you think. Keep it real and enjoy vacation in Malaysia 👍👍
As Malaysian, most of times we don't have problem with the comments about of our country. Especially when they compliment it with an idea or suggestions. Its good because normally top authorities hard to listen comments from locals but easily responsive when highlighted by foreigners or tourists. For example about safety, cleanliness affected by homeless, foreign labors. Even at some point, its seem nobody know how many millions illegal workers in Malaysia.

In terms of cleanliness, yes Malaysia are not par with Japan, Singapore, Dubai and etc. I agree with that 100 percent. But for the tourist you guys should know how to differentiate between local people(Malay, Chinese, Indian, Sabah, Sarawak) and the foreigners(Bangladesh, India, China, Indonesia, Singapore, Pakistan), we look like the same but we're not the same.

The problem that we have is the lack of dustbins. Unconsciously, we are looking for dustbins until we can't find one. If there is a dustbins, it would be filled to the top and with spilled over.
I like the comments of the belgium couple and iran man, very true and yet straight to the point. We Malaysians should really face our problems for not simply throw rubbish anywhere whenever we like. Or drive recklessly like an idxots especially those grab food motorists who always run the red lights.
Having been to Taiwan, I assure you all those stereotypes you hear about Asian drivers are 100% true😂 I wouldn't necessarily call them "bad" drivers though, as much as I would call them "dangerous drivers". They have complete disregard for pedestrians and traffic laws, especially in the big cities, and the mo-peds are the worst!

As a malaysian, I truly appreciate for the good or bad opinion here. I'm kind of proud and happy to see positive comments from visitors of other countries. Malaysia has flaws like other countries, but I can say overall the good parts are a lot more than the bad parts. Welcoming all the travelers around the world, you will have the best food experiences in the south east asia.

It's good to listen to different perspectives. Don't apologise. I do agree totally with the cleaniness. It's very dirty here, even in the city centre. I live in the city and it broke my heart to see how dirty our country is eventhough the streets are cleaned daily. People discard rubbish from their cars, meals, and household wastes, they just don't care anymore. Shame on us!
I am so happy seeing through the comments, how the majority of Malaysians are taking it reasonably well with those raw and honest feedbacks by the foreigners. That's to show Malaysians are not lulled by the sugarcoats despite of the level-headed humans are intrinsic to beautiful words and praises. Maybe it hurts a li'l but we know we know what and where to it fixed. It also goes to prove that the majority of the dwellers subscribed to the honesty as opposed to hypocrisies. You're just telling the truth. We need to improve on the cleanliness aspect everywhere, not only in touristy areas. There are many homeless people around Bangkok Bank and Pasar Seni areas. They make the place unhygienic and dirty, thereby frightening away tourists. Overall, I hope more tourists will come to Malaysia, which is a beautiful country with friendly people

For my opinion, mostly KL area especially in Chow kit, Petaling street a lot of foreigner from others country work here, some of them not really care about cleanliness as a Malaysian we are care about cleanliness. Homeless and so on also not really from Malaysia, they come from others country, but then people always judge that KL is dirty and not well maintain. Honest opinions is good but sometime we must an understand the really situation.
Correct point of view. General those who are educated will have good cleanliness habits, we have millions of foreign workers who are lowly educated, that is one of the causes. There are also plenty of homeless foreigners and most beggars are foreigners, it is an awful sight indeed.
We have plenty of homeless Malaysians and beggars. Of course this is not a common sight in PJ or Bangsar. Come to Pudu, Bukit Bintang and have a look who is sleeping under the bridges.

As a Malaysian, based on my observation, there is no doubt foreigner from third world country residing here is also part of the issue that contribute towards the uncleanliness of our streets. I am Malaysian. I must say that what the tourists said about my country are quite representative of the reality. As one who has lived and worked in both urban and rural areas of Malaysia, i must say Malaysia is a good country with great potential but we really need good peoples with open minds and hearts.
I'm different, when I stepped off the plane at KLIA it felt like home. I'm different though, as an Islamic country I heard the athan I'm happy. The food is great and the people are too...compared to other countries I've visited/worked in. Well, if you like durian it's the place for you, I first tried it in Malaysia and have been chasing it ever since 😂
At Min 7.50 …the couple talked about alcoholic drinks in Malaysia…it depends on which restaurant you went or hotel you checked in. If you went to normal restaurant or checked in cheap hotel of course they don’t serve you alcoholic drinks. If you dine in a posh restaurant or check in 3-5 star hotels surely you could have the free flow alcoholic drinks till you collapsed…alternatively you can just go to changkat bukit bintang and have your favorite alcoholic drinks there… plenty of restaurants and bars that serve alcoholic drinks for you to choose from…

We need to hear these genuine feedbacks although they may hurt a bit, but they should drive us to strive for even better, now that we are made aware of the specific areas we can improve on. From Iran, lived in Kuala Lumpur for 2 years, but then I got tired and came back. Now I miss Malaysia again. It's very unique, nice in so many ways, and a bit ugly in a few ways depending on your perspective. The weather and crowdedness were my biggest problems I think.
Regarding comments about alcohol from the Belgium couple, I was shocked that they found it hard to find alcohol here! You can even get beer at a 7Eleven! Most hotels have a bar and there are so many bars. Many restaurants both halal and non serve alcohol
Honesty is the best policy. Both the good and the bad should be articulated. Otherwise, people visit Malaysia with high expectations only to be disappointed. Good job.
Iam Dutch and Muslim. That’s why I visit Msia many times, it’s easy to find all the food i want to try. KL attract a lot of young Backpackers they want to travel cheap, eat cheap, sleep cheap. I can’t believe the economy will be rising by tourists who spend 20RM only for food. If alcohol was widespread I think KL was the Lloret de Mar of Msia. It will course so many problems. Iam happy for Msians that nightlife is boring and alcohol is expensive and less. For me KL is very nice. But iam also afraid that it will end cheap. I think KL should more attract Upper class tourists.

I like Kuala Lumpur. It's the ideal place to pamper oneself. I stay in upscale hotel, I take Grab Premium, go for upscale spa, eat in upscale restaurant. Watch movie in upscale theatre.

DBKL improved so much, when I was a kid KL was not pedestrians friendly at all. It was all road and hectic. Now, as an adult working in KL, I can easily commute through public transportation. Of course it’s not as extensive as singapore, but I’m truly grateful how KL turned out to be

Sometimes the people that tourists meet when they walk around in areas such as chow kit areas, are not Malaysian. Many are from Indonesia , India and Bangladesh. Sometimes they also bring their cultures and habits from.their country. Some are great , some not so great.
As a Malaysian, I used to be very open about alcohol. I do not drink but I was the one fighting for freedom of drinking. But recently, too many drunk driving killing innocent men and women, and government not doing much. The perpetrator was not harshly punished even though they kill. My lastest stance, I am in favour of difficult alcohol access. Do not give these murderers their serum.
I love Malaysia. It's both the food and the diversity for me. The people is very much used to a mixed culture. Can speak English and Chinese everywhere and feel very accepted.. Even as a foreigner.
I’m flying to KL next week. I go nearly every winter to escape the cold winters. I absolutely 𝐋𝐎𝐕𝐄 KL and Malaysia. If anyone wants me to show you around KL (best neighborhoods, food, walks, coffee, sites) just give me a shout. Seriously!! 🎒

Malaysia is more mature and family friendly, I appreciate that about it, because not everyone goes to SE Asia to party. If you prefer to party, drink, pickup uuuhm “companions” on the side of the street… go to Thailand.
If you intend to stay long in any part of Malaysia it would be a great choice. For short trip like a week or less, Singapore will be better especially you want those instant "Wow" effects. Malaysia more of a relax & chill effects, the longer you stay the longer you don't wanna leave.

As a Vegetarian, I was happy to hear from your Vegetarian interviewee that Malaysia has lots of good Vegetarian food available, but surprised to hear Thailand doesn't. I do plan to visit both countries, and others, in the future.
Thanks Mark! I actually can disagree with our friend about vegetarian dishes in Thailand. Especially in the touristy area it’s very easy to find (maybe the vegan and vegetarian places are a bit more pricey, but it’s definitely available and great quality too). Off the beaten there will be a lot less options to eat vegetarian in Thailand. It’s pretty easy to find Tempeh and Tofu all over Malaysia. I hope this was useful to you :)

Its a great video! We talk a lot of cultural diversity but not too much of diversity of opinions. I am learning to accept other ppls opinion w/o having to be offended, this video helped me see a much broader view of others.

As a Malaysian, personally I prefer unfiltered, uncensored honest opinion. I know a lot of people/foreigners when asked for comment tend to just highlight the positives. And content creators tend to edit out the negatives because lets be honest, people love to be praise especially Malaysian, and especially when it comes to food matters.

I've been to all the big cities in Southeast Asia, and I'd say Kuala Lumpur is more relaxed than Bangkok and Saigon, cleaner than Jakarta and Manila, and cheaper than Singapore.

I worked at golden areas in KL. The building block I work there is full of rubbish and cigarettes butt, a sign already show no smoking and littering but the people still dirty it. Very dissappointed. Please don't defend, is will make Malaysia never improve.

It's better to leave it raw and uncensored, especially the bit about the homeless and the areas that are not so clean. Those are generally issues that most countries face, even in Japan! But it's also fair to say that the cleanliness of KL city has improved over the years, especially the rivers, drainage systems and the increased walk paths that's making KL a more walkable city. This is one of the best champ because there's no sugar coating. People opening up and expressing themselves good or bad. Those negatives raised really only minor and hardly offensive. Cleanliness is certainly not just an issue in areas of Malaysia, same with Indonesia, Cambodia, Thailand amongst others. Sometimes it is very hard to find a dustbin. Make me stress out too. Many dustbins means more potential of IED location. Even now dustbins are placed strategically for safety reasons. I am really stressed when looking for dustbins.
But it's not surprising that undeveloped country like Malaysia is dirty, there is no undeveloped country that's clean.
I don't know what's going on with the other states but here where I live, the politicians here hold the money the most and the rest are invested in the actual purpose of the money.

I spent about 5 years in Malaysia (now back in the UK), I was living in Kuala Lumpur and visited many places around the country. Also travelled around the rest of Asia too.
For me KL is like a second home, the people are great, the food is amazing, the public transport is great and affordable, rent is affordable, the internet is fast, the quality of life is super worth it for what you pay, especially compared to neighbouring cities like Bangkok, Jakarta or Singapore (all of which I also like by the way!). I'd get PR in Malaysia if I could (hopefully in the future!) ❤🇲🇾

@@fitnessboy2024 visa requirements are strict if you don't have a job offer. Malaysian has a healthy growing population so manpower isn't so much an issue here as with some other countries with an ageing and shrinking population. One of the few ways for you to apply Residency would be through the Malaysia My Second Home (MM2H) program. You can do a Google search to find out details - "MM2H". Requirements for Sabah and Sarawak (East Malaysia) differs slightly too, so you can Google that as well. The program does require a substantial investment in the country and proof of income. So if you're young and not financially stable, sadly chances are low.
We are matured enough to know there is no country in the world only good things there. We can accept the negative feedbacks and hope the relevant people can take action to improve them. Let's hear more honest and genuine feedback :)

Yes agreed, Malaysians are generally quite humble as compared to some egoistic nation (especially the one on the south of Malaysia) who cannot accept even constructive criticism at all.
Old central KL is falling apart. Broken infrastructure everywhere. And squatters living in abandoned buildings. People sleeping in the streets everywhere when I came in by bus early morning from Singapore to Beryaya Square. Walking Jalan Pudu down to the city center this summer was a horror story. It seems the chinese are leaving the city and poor indians moving in. This was evident in the Brickfields area where I had my hotel. But going through the Butterworth-Penang area later it was another story. Much different and definitely prosperous.
Just got back to the UK after spending 3 weeks in the cameron highlands. I fell in love with Malaysia, warts and all. ❤🇲🇾

As a foreigner, I can also state I nearly left when I first visited Kuala Lumpur because I thought it was too dirty. However, over time I started to notice how much I was enjoying my time.
I felt like the city was less frantic than Bangkok or Jakarta, but still offered a wide range of culinary options. Solid infrastructure, reliable wifi, good shopping options (Spent a lot of time at MidValley, One Utama, and Pavillion) and when I wanted a cleaner, Mote laid back area, I headed to Desa Park City vicinity.
There are some beautiful parks around the area as well, and I made some fantastic hiking buddies. Sure there are things to be critical of, but overall, Malaysia won me over. Funny story... I invited my uncle to come spend a few weeks with me in KL... He had a great time and declared Sarawakian Laksa one of hid new favorite foods.
Shortly thereafter we went on a trip to Tokyo and then Bangkok together. Afterwards, when talking to his family about his trip I heard him say: Honestly I liked Malaysia better. Lol

As Malaysian, most of times we don't have problem with the comments about of our country. Especially when they compliment it with an idea or suggestions. Its good because normally top authorities hard to listen comments from locals but easily responsive when highlighted by foreigners or tourists. For example about safety, cleanliness affected by homeless, foreign labors. Even at some point, its seem nobody know how many millions illegal workers in Malaysia.

In terms of cleanliness, yes Malaysia are not par with Japan, Singapore, Dubai and etc. I agree with that 100 percent. But for the tourist you guys should know how to differentiate between local people(Malay, Chinese, Indian, Sabah, Sarawak) and the foreigners(Bangladesh, India, China, Indonesia, Singapore, Pakistan), we look like the same but we're not the same.

The problem that we have is the lack of dustbins. Unconsciously, we are looking for dustbins until we can't find one. If there is a dustbins, it would be filled to the top and with spilled over.

I like the comments of the belgium couple and iran man, very true and yet straight to the point. We Malaysians should really face our problems for not simply throw rubbish anywhere whenever we like. Or drive recklessly like an idxots especially those grab food motorists who always run the red lights.
Having been to Taiwan, I assure you all those stereotypes you hear about Asian drivers are 100% true😂 I wouldn't necessarily call them "bad" drivers though, as much as I would call them "dangerous drivers". They have complete disregard for pedestrians and traffic laws, especially in the big cities, and the mo-peds are the worst!

It's good to listen to different perspectives. Don't apologise. I do agree totally with the cleaniness. It's very dirty here, even in the city centre. I live in the city and it broke my heart to see how dirty our country is eventhough the streets are cleaned daily. People discard rubbish from their cars, meals, and household wastes, they just don't care anymore. Shame on us!
I am so happy seeing through the comments, how the majority of Malaysians are taking it reasonably well with those raw and honest feedbacks by the foreigners. That's to show Malaysians are not lulled by the sugarcoats despite of the level-headed humans are intrinsic to beautiful words and praises.
Maybe it hurts a li'l but we know we know what and where to it fixed. It also goes to prove that the majority of the dwellers subscribed to the honesty as opposed to hypocrisies. You know it too well sometimes honesty does not necessarily mean the truths. Some are due to lack of exposure and knowledge but it can be educated. For example, when they talk about Chow Kit area. Locals know it that's where majority of foreigners from our neighboring country that make the place as their home.
One thing for certain, we can't blame them... That's the impression they got that portrays Malaysia. No excuses on our part. We have to swallow it and find ways to fix the problem.

Mungkin ianya sedikit terguris tetapi ia membuatkan kita tahu di mana tempat untuk diperbaiki. Ia juga membuktikan bahawa majoriti rakyat Malaysia mengagungkan kejujuran berbanding kemunafikan. Kita semua tahu kadang-kadang kejujuran tidak semestinya bermaksud kebenaran. Ia mungkin berpunca daripada kurangnya pendedahan dan pengetahuan tetapi ia boleh diberi penerangan yg betul. Sebagai contoh, apabila mereka kata kawasan Chow Kit yg kotor. Penduduk tempatan tahu di situlah tempat majoriti warga asing dari negara jiran kita yang amat ramai.

You're just telling the truth. We need to improve on the cleanliness aspect everywhere, not only in touristy areas. There are many homeless people around Bangkok Bank and Pasar Seni areas. They make the place unhygienic and dirty, thereby frightening away tourists. Overall, I hope more tourists will come to Malaysia, which is a beautiful country with friendly people

For my opinion, mostly KL area especially in Chow kit, Petaling street a lot of foreigner from others country work here, some of them not really care about cleanliness as a Malaysian we are care about cleanliness. Homeless and so on also not really from Malaysia, they come from others country, but then people always judge that KL is dirty and not well maintain. Honest opinions is good but sometime we must an understand the really situation.
Correct point of view. General those who are educated will have good cleanliness habits, we have millions of foreign workers who are lowly educated, that is one of the causes. There are also plenty of homeless foreigners and most beggars are foreigners, it is an awful sight indeed.

As a Malaysian, based on my observation, there is no doubt foreigner from third world country residing here is also part of the issue that contribute towards the uncleanliness of our streets. Nontheless, this interview really help for us as an idividual to have self awareness so that we can lessen the foot print in our beloved Malaysia. Keep doing what u do Chai travel and be safe!

I am Malaysian. I must say that what the tourists said about my country are quite representative of the reality. As one who has lived and worked in both urban and rural areas of Malaysia, i must say Malaysia is a good country with great potential but we really need good peoples with open minds and hearts.

I travel all over Southeast Asia for work, and I'm based in KL. I have to say, KL has the best of all worlds.
I'm different, when I stepped off the plane at KLIA it felt like home. I'm different though, as an Islamic country I heard the athan I'm happy. The food is great and the people are too...compared to other countries I've visited/worked in. Well, if you like durian it's the place for you, I first tried it in Malaysia and have been chasing it ever since 😂

At Min 7.50 …the couple talked about alcoholic drinks in Malaysia…it depends on which restaurant you went or hotel you checked in. If you went to normal restaurant or checked in cheap hotel of course they don’t serve you alcoholic drinks. If you dine in a posh restaurant or check in 3-5 star hotels surely you could have the free flow alcoholic drinks till you collapsed…alternatively you can just go to changkat bukit bintang and have your favorite alcoholic drinks there… plenty of restaurants and bars that serve alcoholic drinks for you to choose from…

From Iran, lived in Kuala Lumpur for 2 years, but then I got tired and came back. Now I miss Malaysia again. It's very unique, nice in so many ways, and a bit ugly in a few ways depending on your perspective. The weather and crowdedness were my biggest problems I think.

Regarding comments about alcohol from the Belgium couple, I was shocked that they found it hard to find alcohol here! You can even get beer at a 7Eleven! Most hotels have a bar and there are so many bars. Many restaurants both halal and non serve alcohol

Iam Dutch and Muslim. That’s why I visit Msia many times, it’s easy to find all the food i want to try. KL attract a lot of young Backpackers they want to travel cheap, eat cheap, sleep cheap. I can’t believe the economy will be rising by tourists who spend 20RM only for food. If alcohol was widespread I think KL was the Lloret de Mar of Msia. It will course so many problems. Iam happy for Msians that nightlife is boring and alcohol is expensive and less. For me KL is very nice. But iam also afraid that it will end cheap. I think KL should more attract Upper class tourists.

I like Kuala Lumpur. It's the ideal place to pamper oneself. I stay in upscale hotel, I take Grab Premium, go for upscale spa, eat in upscale restaurant. Watch movie in upscale theatre.

As a Malaysian, agreed 100% all the visitors said namely, some places are dirty, alcoholic drinks availability, driving, homeless people...DBKL(KL City Council) is not doing their job.
When they proposed mayoral elections they didn't like it.
DBKL improved so much, when I was a kid KL was not pedestrians friendly at all. It was all road and hectic. Now, as an adult working in KL, I can easily commute through public transportation. Of course it’s not as extensive as singapore, but I’m truly grateful how KL turned out to be
We re heading towards a developed country. DBKL and agencies like should strive to deliver the best, especially in terms of cleanliness

Sometimes the people that tourists meet when they walk around in areas such as chow kit areas, are not Malaysian. Many are from Indonesia , India and Bangladesh. Sometimes they also bring their cultures and habits from.their country. Some are great , some not so great.

As a Malaysian, I used to be very open about alcohol. I do not drink but I was the one fighting for freedom of drinking. But recently, too many drunk driving killing innocent men and women, and government not doing much. The perpetrator was not harshly punished even though they kill. My lastest stance, I am in favour of difficult alcohol access. Do not give these murderers their serum.

I love Malaysia. It's both the food and the diversity for me. The people is very much used to a mixed culture. Can speak English and Chinese everywhere and feel very accepted.. Even as a foreigner.

Malaysia is more mature and family friendly, I appreciate that about it, because not everyone goes to SE Asia to party.
If you prefer to party, drink, pickup uuuhm “companions” on the side of the street… go to Thailand.
If you intend to stay long in any part of Malaysia it would be a great choice. For short trip like a week or less, Singapore will be better especially you want those instant "Wow" effects. Malaysia more of a relax & chill effects, the longer you stay the longer you don't wanna leave.

As a Vegetarian, I was happy to hear from your Vegetarian interviewee that Malaysia has lots of good Vegetarian food available, but surprised to hear Thailand doesn't. I do plan to visit both countries, and others, in the future.
Thanks Mark! I actually can disagree with our friend about vegetarian dishes in Thailand. Especially in the touristy area it’s very easy to find (maybe the vegan and vegetarian places are a bit more pricey, but it’s definitely available and great quality too). Off the beaten there will be a lot less options to eat vegetarian in Thailand. It’s pretty easy to find Tempeh and Tofu all over Malaysia. I hope this was useful to you :)
