This video posted on a perfect date. 16th September in Malaysia was our public holiday. It is called Malaysia Day. Cheers! Well done to both of you and all the best!
#2 ketupat palas. Glutinous rice cook with coconut milk. Later on they wrap with Palas leaf and then quick boiled to get the fragrance of the leaf itself into the glutinous rice. Best serve with rendang. Some eat with peanut sauce (kuah kacang) same as the satay. Satay itself have a lot of choices which you should try on your own..
Fun fact- Malaysia has 13 states and 3 federal territories and they each have their own "local cuisines" that you might not find in certain part of Malaysia ..since you guys listed Laksa then I'm gonna tell you about it..There's a lot of different kind of Laksa, different states..different Laksa..like in Sarawak, we have our own version of Laksa called Laksa Sarawak..basically a lot,we hv Laksa Kelantan,Laksa Kedah,Kari Laksa,Laksa Johor and many more! So if you guys had the chance to explore other states of Malaysia, then feel free to try each states' local cuisines!
For the laksa, in Malaysia we have different kind of laksa like every state they have different type of laksa. For example laksa terengganu, laksa Johor, laksa Penang and etc. I love this video, its good to attract many tourists to come to Malaysia
2. KETUPAT PALAS. Sticky rice wrapped in young coconut leaf. We eat ketupat palas with RENDANG not condensed milk. If no Rendang, Serunding or Anchovies Sambal is good too. If Rendang is sold out and the last choice is condensed milk. But ketupat palas with rendang is so so so delicious..a match companion..uhh to die for! I love so much LAKSA! Uhhh craving now. Laksa Penang and Laksa Kedah (Langkawi) is the best!
Divert Living Laksa (Fish soup noodle) have 3 variety Laksa Utara (North Laksa) , Laksa Johor and Laksa Sarawak. Laksa Kedah, Laksa Langkawi, Laksa Penang, Laksa Perak & Laksa Perlis basically the regional ver. of Laksa Utara 😂 That how crazy Malaysian Food. One name food have various variety and style. Same goes to your favourite Nasi Lemak which have different sambals
Tq.. for promoting Malaysia !! I hope u get warm welcome from us.. if u want true nasi kandar please come to penang.. Penang is the heaven of all many type of food!!!!
Malaysia is the most beautiful country in the entire Asia Peninsula and one of the most Modern and Well Managed country among the ASEAN !! I LOVE IT !!!
#2 is Ketupat Btw, funny when every foreigner I met, said they love Nasi Lemak (even my English, Japanese and Korean friends said so), but I'm not a fan of Nasi Lemak. I just, prefer bihun or mee goreng apart from Nasi Lemak for breakfast. And yeah, Laksa is super good. The best Laksa is the Laksa Ikan Sekoq (where they serve the laksa with a fish on top of it). About Nasi Campur, well, if you ever come to Malaysia again, be sure to try:- 1. Gulai Tempoyak Ikan Patin - a fresh-water fish cooked in a gravy (or a curry-like soup)made of tempoyak which is fermented durian 2. Ayam Masak Lemak Cili Api - chicken cooked in a gravy (or a curry-like soup) made of a blended chillies and tumeric 3. Asam Pedas - a spicy-sour-soup-based-dish, normally cooked with fish - mackarel or stingray These three are considerably the most delicious dishes for local people. Try it. And yeah, do try the ulam too.
it's just that, I don't like it that much. lol.. I prefer noodles for breakfast, or even fried rice. But not nasi lemak. Nevertheless, it IS one of the iconic Malaysia food though. When people asked me what to eat in Malaysia, I will suggest nasi lemak, but I'll say I'm not a fan of it. haha..
+Divert Living some people prefered it as the best breakfast as malaysian.. some are not (myb bcuz it's spicy).. for me.. i like "Nasi Kuning" (the rice colored yellow) for my breakfast but sometimes i choose "Mee goreng" or "Nasi lemak"..
Ketupat palas ohmygodddd, i am malay and that thng is the best ever invention on earth. You can eat as desert; dip it in condensed milk and also u can eat it with serunding daging which is pulled beef which u should definitely try
I was just looking for a video about malaysia so that I can have an idea about the country...ill be going there for work...so.I hope its easy for me to.adjust.
If you have difficulty understanding the culture (as we are a very diverse country) feel free to ask. It might be slightly different in different parts of Malaysia, but we're quite welcoming and most people speak good English.
Nasi Campur is technically Rice + any dishes you want, "Campur" mean add or plus or mix. Usually, Nasi Campur is serve in Muslim Restaurant, that the reason you didn't found any pork. The sticky rice is actually "Ketupat Palas", I prefer to eat it with Beef Rendang. I would like you to try seeking Laksa Mee, it is a rare dish in Malaysia, but you may (or may not) find it in Pulau Pangkor, Perak. It is almost like Laksa but with clear/white fish soup, the ingredient are depend on individual style of cook, some will add crab or squid into the soup. Then there a chili paste with prawn and the taste is sweet and spicy, in Malaysia we call it "Sambal Udang". There also a long bean and salted radish stir fried, some people will add squid with it. You add all of it into you bowl of thin white noodles.
hey there malaysia.. out of all countries ive visited, malaysia will always hv a special place in my heart.. malaysia is so so so underrated.. miss you my adoring malaysia
One thing that all foreigners have to know is not all restaurants have the best Malaysian food because different restaurants = different quality. So if you want the best version of food, do your research first on where to go to find your specific food.
No amount of research would land you in the perfect place...in the end it's what you like and prefer that matters. So don't waste time researching, just dive in. Try the same dish in two different shops or even states. What you end up liking is what matters.
Satay is no1 on the list!!!! Oh my god, you should visit to Melaka and try my dad’s one at Asam Pedas Dapur Panas! And you should try the Asam Pedas too since Melaka is famous for this dish! Hehe
as a Malaysian, Malaysia is a country of repressed diversity with priority given to Muslims. Kindly observe that most of the eateries you filmed you do not see Muslims patronizing minority food outlet, which is something shunned upon in Malaya, except for Sarawak state in Borneo and some areas in Sabah.
Its Nasi Campur..btw.. Im happy to see visiters love our food...thanks a lot for the video..I hope this video will help to promote Malaysia's specialist..💓
#2 ke-tu-pat pa-las Sticky rice in palas leaves ... its difficult to make it n it very traditional cuisine when eid day come all muslim house in malaysia will serve to guest n family eat !!! Must eat with a rendang ... most delicious guyyyy
#2 its called: "Ketupat Daun Palas" The leaves that were used to wrap it is called 'Palas'. The leaf is aromatic to be cooked with the glutinous rice. Btw thanks for trying Malaysia food and hope you enjoyed and liked it 👍🏻❤️
#2 is called Ketupat Palas. Ketupat is rice cake, palas is the name of the leaf that wraps it. They filled the palas leaf with sticky rice, and boil it with coconut milk, depends on the recipe. Normally we eat it with rendang beef/chicken. Not sure why the host gave yours with condensed milk. Another version of ketupat is with normal rice, and we eat it with peanut gravy
if you really like durian ..you must try ikan patin masak tempoyak..next time when you come to malaysia..but it is hard to find..you can easily found it in pahang plus you can taste pahang desert call puding raja
2.ketupat its sticky rice that was wrapped in coconut leaves and usually served on hari raya or eid mubarak, some eat it with rendang (you should try this too) or condensed milk. And ketupat also have many version,my fav are those that comes with corn. Thank you for coming and promoting Malaysia, terima kasih!💕
Please come to Muar Johor. The only place that I know that eat satay as breakfast. Most people doesn't agreed with it but for us, it is the best breakfast ever.
Muar is famous for it's "satay pagi" or morning satay. And mee bandung muar (muar bandung noodles) my favourite. There's a restaurant called Mee Bandung Udang Galah in Tanjung Agas. That one I would say an authentic taste of it. You cannot get it in KL or anywhere else hehehe.
When you guys come again to Malaysia...please try some food that we call it "Kuih" (something like a snack or desert, traditional food)..this food can be found at night market..so delicious... 1) Kuih karipap(curry puff) 2) Kuih seri muka 3) Dodol 4) Kuih popia goreng 5) Kuih Pau 6) Murtabak (you must try this first) 7) Kuih lapis 8) Roti jala (looks like a tiny net) 9) Kuih lepat pisang 10) Keropok lekor (fish snack) ..... Hope you guys like it☺️😋🤗(sorry bad english)
Kuih koci, Kueh bakar, tat nenas ,tempeyek ikan bilis, keropok ikan parang, keropok lekor... Hard to list it all to many! Even I am a Malaysian don't know all the name or how it tastes..😂
You guys look so beautiful together. Thanks for sharing your favorite Malaysian food, if you guys are coming to malaysia again, I’d suggest visiting Melaka and Penang, for an entirely different food experience.
#2 is Ketupat Palas...sticky rice wrap with Palas leaf.. During Eid the festival for Muslim after having fasting during Ramdhan we called as Eid... You must try Ketupat Palas with Beef Rendang /Chicken Rendang /Prawn Rendang or any rendang... It is really good... Right now is month of Ramadhan... try it later after Ramadhan, first Eid
American food also delicious ...sometimes I need to eat western food cause Malaysian food is to heavy ..but both foods have their own uniques ..love from msia
#2 = Ketupat Daun Palas (the sticky rice) = pronouncation | "Ketupat" = Kerr-Two-Part | "Daun" = Dar-Own | "Palas" = Par-Last Daun Palas is not banana leaves | daun palas is fan palm leaves. You guys should try the ketupat daun palas with beef rendang (in Malay = rendang daging) | Now is the time to find this food since Malaysia is having a festive period called "Hari Raya Aidul Fitri" (Eid al-Fitr) = a religious festival celebrated after a month of fasting. Good luck. Good Job. Good video. Cheers!
That sticky rise one is called ketupat...n it taste wayy tastier if u dip it in serunding which is basically a dried ripped chicken that looks like a tiny rope that mixed with some spices
Its ketupat pulut “ke-too-phat poolot” the fillings are from glutinuous rice. Popular among northern states in peninsular malaysia such as perlis, kedah, penang and perak
its crazyy how there are still so many more malaysian foods that foreigners rarely know about! im malaysian and everytime i watch these kinds of videos abt malaysian food i always think about how there are so much more to indulge in!
You should try 1. Asam pedas melaka in Malacca 2. Cendol 3. Masak lemak itik salai in Negeri Sembilan 4. Nasi Kerabu in Kelantan or by kelantanese. 5. Lemang with rendang. It is so nyummy
Should try visit Terengganu.. a lot of amazing places and food.. Terengganu have many seafood dishes that amazing.. keropok lekor.. sata.. many more.. should try it..
You can order roti BOOM (pronounced as "bomb"), it is roti canai with sugar inside... the sugar is normally melted when cooking and it is very tasty. You can taste the slight saltiness of the roti and the sweetness of the sugar. Order air limau (or lime water) with it. It is basically water with lime in it and a bit of sugar syrup. It is sour and salty at the same time and it is very cheap.(get all of this at mamak or any Indian restraunt)
Oh dear, so hungry!! lol. You have to try the Chinese cuisines in Malaysia as well, it's totally different from other Chinese cuisines overseas as it's a mixture of food from other races. Suggestion of place to visit for more Malaysian Chinese food: Penang (I know I mentioned this in one of your videos). Try google it up or type "Penang island food" on UA-cam. Warning: Don't watch during midnight, you'll probably ended up taking supper lol.
my friend from france come to visit last year and i asked my chinese friend to take him out because he drooling for the roast duck, and Im sure he would like some drinks too.
#2 is ketupat Ketupat is basically sticky rice which made with rice and coconut milk. Then it will wrap with 'daun palas' or palas leaves. You can easily see this ketupat in hari raya because its traditional meal we eat everything hari raya. We eat/ dip with 'Rendang' chicken rendang, beef rendang, milk, curry etc.
@@DivertLiving I give you example. If you love satay, you should go to satay kajang in selangor.and your girl love laksa so much, you both should go to georgetown in penang.the best ever laksa is there.if you love nasi dagang, you should go to kuala terengganu.nasik lemak is everywhere.the one that you show with chicken, thats the perfect one already.in kuala lumpur, all the food already lost the authentic flavour.
Laksa in Malaysia has various taste... 1. Laksa penang 2. Laksa johor 3. Laksa trengganu.. Not sure this name 4. Laksa sarawak Even Laksa penang has few versions...I like the one in Sri petaling stall I like laksa johor the most especially those made by my mother....
hi first time to your channel. Malaysian here. Bak Kut Teh is famous in Klang, dont miss it if you visit Malaysia. (note: Bak Kut Teh is pork based, its non-halal) However, plenty of delicious food in Klang. You can arrive Klang straight from KL Airport too, the bus costs around RM13 (USD$3-4), just approx 1 hour bus ride.

No 2 is ketupat palas, its actually have the same taste like 'Lemang'... (glutinous rice cooked with coconut milk) you can eat it with 'beef/chicken rendang' or 'beef dendeng' (my fav) and put alil bit of sambal to your liking (optional)...... usually the malays will eat this on the Eid celebration after the fasting month.. when people/kids had too much of rendang, they eat the 'ketupat palas' with condensed milk. since you like roti pisang, i recommend you to try "roti boom kaya"... roti boom = a fluffier version of roti canai. Kaya = coconut jam. this dish is not in the menu but they can do it so u have say it correctly. (cuz Kaya usually served with toasted bread) make sure u ask them to serve with condense milk or in malaysia they call it "susu pekat" .. means tick milk. (cuz if you dont say it, they will give u curry gravy, you have to eat it with condense milk my dude) your first bite will blow your jaw off. its that good ma dudes
i suggest u guys try malaysian street food like street burgers, yong tau fu,murtabak, rojak, cendol(sometime with durian),char kuey tiaw, nasi kukus (steamed rice),goreng pisang, keropok lekor & many more.
Actually No. 2 is called 'ketupat palas' and it is not wrapped by banana leaf. It is what we called 'palas' leaf that's how it got the name. My mom often prepared the ketupat palas for our special day and it is soooo good! You should try eat it with 'rendang' next time. Super duper yummy!
No 2 ketupat palas Ketupat with bean inside Ketupat black rice Ketupat lemak Ketupat with serunding -meat,fish or chicken. For the bonus if u like laksa U should also try laksam
nice.. proud of both of you.. try more malaysian food.. each country have their own kind of special food. just travel around penisular and also borneo to try variety of food.. #2 ketupat
I'm vr happy that u two njoyed some of msian all time fav food. U already got a reply on no. 2, it's ketupat daun palas, sticky rice cooked in palas leaf, traditionally eaten with serunding, a spicy meat floss or with rendang.
Yesszaaaa. You all are welcome. This country is a food heaven. I travelled all around world and I found My Country is still the best. Proud to be Malaysian. Whooppss.... by the way in 1997 there was 1 type of food created in Malaysia by our most premier prime minister and his successor. It was famously known in the world called SODOME..... or.... SODOMIE.😜👍
For roti canai... I usually cut the roti canai to small peices and pour the dhal curry mix with chicken or fish curry mix with litle bit sambal (hot sauce) on top of the roti canai.... It's called "banjir" meaning flood... Roti canai flooded with 2 curry +hot sauce.... Very good for breakfast....

For the laksa, in Malaysia we have different kind of laksa like every state they have different type of laksa. For example laksa terengganu, laksa Johor, laksa Penang and etc.
I love this video, its good to attract many tourists to come to Malaysia
We think so as well :)
My favourite laksa is laksa Kedah :D. And I'm Malaysian.

@@DivertLiving you should defo try Laksa Sarawak!

Laksa Penang and Laksa Kedah (Langkawi) is the best!
hahaha im so so so hungry as well! all this food talk is killing me!

Malaysia is the most beautiful country in the entire Asia Peninsula and one of the most Modern and Well Managed country among the ASEAN !! I LOVE IT !!!
Malaysia foods always delicious. I had ever try laksa. But it like sour but it tasty ❤😍. Love Malaysia from Vietnam
Ahhh it is so so so good!
#2 is Ketupat
Btw, funny when every foreigner I met, said they love Nasi Lemak (even my English, Japanese and Korean friends said so), but I'm not a fan of Nasi Lemak. I just, prefer bihun or mee goreng apart from Nasi Lemak for breakfast. And yeah, Laksa is super good. The best Laksa is the Laksa Ikan Sekoq (where they serve the laksa with a fish on top of it).
About Nasi Campur, well, if you ever come to Malaysia again, be sure to try:-
1. Gulai Tempoyak Ikan Patin - a fresh-water fish cooked in a gravy (or a curry-like soup)made of tempoyak which is fermented durian
2. Ayam Masak Lemak Cili Api - chicken cooked in a gravy (or a curry-like soup) made of a blended chillies and tumeric
3. Asam Pedas - a spicy-sour-soup-based-dish, normally cooked with fish - mackarel or stingray
These three are considerably the most delicious dishes for local people. Try it. And yeah, do try the ulam too.
What! We think its the best breakfast!
it's just that, I don't like it that much. lol.. I prefer noodles for breakfast, or even fried rice. But not nasi lemak. Nevertheless, it IS one of the iconic Malaysia food though. When people asked me what to eat in Malaysia, I will suggest nasi lemak, but I'll say I'm not a fan of it. haha..
+Divert Living some people prefered it as the best breakfast as malaysian.. some are not (myb bcuz it's spicy).. for me.. i like "Nasi Kuning" (the rice colored yellow) for my breakfast but sometimes i choose "Mee goreng" or "Nasi lemak"..
if you love, nescafe ais, wait until u try, fusion of MILO and NESCAFE = NESLO ICE
Hey Arif ! You guys are so creative for food ! hahah love it ! W are ready to gain weight in Malaysia !:D

It will be easy as long as you respect the culture and traditions:)
Welcome
just came.. we welcoming all of you.. just please respect our culture only..
Its easy to settle down. Dont worry u will love it
If you have difficulty understanding the culture (as we are a very diverse country) feel free to ask.
You add all of it into you bowl of thin white noodles.
for the second one,
we called it ketupat. it's very delicious. we usually eat it with rendang

One thing that all foreigners have to know is not all restaurants have the best Malaysian food because different restaurants = different quality. So if you want the best version of food, do your research first on where to go to find your specific food.
Ahh we love it ALLLLL haha
No amount of research would land you in the perfect place...in the end it's what you like and prefer that matters. So don't waste time researching, just dive in. Try the same dish in two different shops or even states. What you end up liking is what matters.
You true different people make different taste
Satay is no1 on the list!!!! Oh my god, you should visit to Melaka and try my dad’s one at Asam Pedas Dapur Panas! And you should try the Asam Pedas too since Melaka is famous for this dish! Hehe

No 2 is ketupat palas
