Right? I know it's a BBC show, but maybe someone get Matteo on for Travel Man? I love me some Lycette, but I don't know that's taking off. (We all miss Ayoade.)
This was excellently filmed and edited. Totally agree that a Netflix travel show mix of food, wine, cigarettes, friends and a comedy tour in Italy would suit Matteo’s talent, humour and relatability perfectly 🤌
This was so unpretentious and laid back, just Matteo with the help and support of Chris, sharing a joyous time in his life with us. You could tell Matteo was tired in the narration portions of the video, but I'm sure it was the very best kind of tired, from spending time doing things you enjoy with people that you care about and who care about you. Quite lovely actually.
genuinely, this is an INCREDIBLE video. the editing, the cinematography, how everything is paced and tied together. holy shit this is a very quality video
I've watched some of this man's stand-up videos and clicked on this link not really knowing what to expect. Everything about this was...flawless. This is a man in love with the food of Italy, the atmosphere of Rome, and the warmth of his friends, and it all comes across beautifully in this far-too-short video. Watched the whole thing with a smile on my face (and now an appetite for carbonara). Agree with many of the other commentators, this guy is a natural and needs his own show.
This was such a treat to wake up to♡ This was not some typical travel/food video. This was Y♡U being with friends and loving your time with them, in a country you also love. Enjoy who you are with, what you do and where you are ♡
Matteo lane is a brilliant comedian but more than that , seeing him in his comfort zone in Italy , he’s a beautiful person to show you his heritage , he appreciates life , his life , and I appreciate and love Matteo.
So many of these shots are of Trastevere, one of the great neighborhoods in central Rome. And the camera doesn’t lie: it looks exactly like that all the time. It’s heaven.
I'm now addicted to watching Matteo! He is smart and funny..always. So nice to see him having so much fun in Italy. Everyone there seemed lovely. I can see him doing a travel show, or a cooking show! I would watch both!
This cements why I would love for you to have your own show that's part cooking show/stand-up. The perfect combination. Starting the episode with exploring a city and interviewing chefs and then finishing the episode with stand-up ☺
This video is perfection, from the chill vibes to how authentic it felt. It opens up so much more about Mateo and I hope networks are emailing and dialing numbers right now.
Italians flock together. No matter our location or origin back in the old country. We flock together, always. My family is from Naples and when I discovered you, I was so happy to see a fellow Italian American who is sarcastic and funny. It’s all about love, food and sharing laughs with great people. And what better people then Italian💋💋
@@hazhoner5727 I’m speaking from experience with my family and neighborhood here in Boston and in Naples where a lot of my family is. I meant no malice in my statement.
Went on a nice cruise, with most of it being in Italy. Absolutely fell in love with the place, people, culture/history, and art. It would take several lifetimes to appreciate it the way it deserves.
I agree. We moved to Italy seven years ago and have still not experienced the entire country. I keep telling my husband that one lifetime is too short to live in Italy!
I actually felt sad when I realized this video was ending I want to see so much more of you and Franscesco, your friends there in Italy seem amazing which would be awesome content (if they even want to be involved and on camera). Don't commodify your friendships but still, broadcast it a bit, it seems so fun and genuine! You made everything somehow about you in a good way, but I'm feeling as if I just merely peeked behind a curtain I genuinely want to see more of and behind!
I was lucky enough to be stationed in Naples for two (glorious) years - it remains the highlight of my life. Now 63yo, I look back on those days and just smile. The traveling, the food, the sights and sounds, were all amazing. Love Italy. 🥰
This reminds me of my pilgrimage to my own motherland: South Africa. I am not South African, but that is where I lived and visited during the first 2 years of the pandemic. As a black American, it was so refreshing to see my people in a positive light. The food, the culture, the music was all so invigorating! I felt so connected to my African identity despite being part of the diaspora. It was an incredibly healing time, and I am so grateful for having lived there even for just a few months.
That is so awesome to hear about South Africa which is such a culture rich nation, but the only stories we hear are negative ones or how Mandela needed rugby!
This video made me so happy although we have very different lives! I’m an Irish woman living in Sydney, married to an Aussie (half Sicilian half Maltese), and with a young child yet this still resonated so much with me! I lived for 6 years in Italy (two of them in Rome) and I miss my other life and friendship group in Italy. I also share your obsession with food!
04:50 oh, that is so typical, smoking with your friend at the kitchen window XD Glad you are coming to Italy more and more now, Matteo! Your friendship with Francesco il lovely to see, he is a great guy and such a funny comedian! BTW you had so much pasta while you were here! Are you okay?! Good Lord, hahahaha!
This video is 100% my fave one I have watched by you. The music, stories, food, comedy...and it was beautifully shot and edited! Really brought me 'into the moment'.
This has beautiful hints of the late great Bourdain. Done not as a copy cat but in a way of paying homage. The chemistry between Francesco & you is fantastically tangible. BRAVO! This is so well done, entertaining & funny. 👏🏼👏🏼
Thanks for taking us on your trip! I've only been to Rome once, so I did all the touristy ancient stuff, so I'm glad to see more of the night life and locals! Have fun on tour!
I grew in Uruguay. With a grandmother from Naples, I grew up with the best food I could've ever asked for. I had Olive Garden ONCE in my life. Seeing this reminds me of Montevideo. Now I see where my customs come from. I need to visit Italy. Thank you Matteo.
Didn't know you knew Francesco! I am following him too on social lol he is very good especially when standing up in London and speaking about Italian culture. It's always interesting to watch italo-Americans coming in Italy and see the nuances and differences. That's why I would like to come in USA and come to see the italo-Americans culture, maybe meet some cousins which grandfather sailed for USA a long time ago... But I guess it would be so expensive.
I watched one of your comedy videos a few weeks ago and laughed my butt off. Now, every time I am on UA-cam I look to see what I haven't watched yet. No matter how down and out I may be your routines are guaranteed to lift my spirits. "Stay liquid"
So jealous I can't wait to go back to Rome (my husband & I did 2 weeks touring Italy and we spent 4 days in Rome & 3 in Florence (either one I'd love to literally live)).
I loved every moment of this video! I felt as if I were there with you guys...I am now travel envious. I am also glad that you can you travel and see your friends. I wish you the best in everything you do. xoxo
OMG Di Carlo is literally the first stan-up comedian I started watching!! Great vibes, if you ever want to come to Barcelona you have huge Italian fans here too! :)
I suspected Matteo was much more than the rather flamboyant comedian we all know and I was right. I think I appreciate him more the way he appears here "unartificially" in his natural and unsophisticated "Italian-ness" with his friends. It has been a good surprise.
Nicely shot, very entertaining! Crazy, but that one tiny shot of the hand with the cigarette at the end looked like it fits with all the "real life" photos I've ever seen of Italy in the 60s! Well done! Gut gemacht! (There's your German, Matteo!)
Everything I’ve learned from Matteo about pasta: Carbonara - Peter (meaty and filling) Pasta de la Mama - Lois (comforting and familiar) Amatricana - Cleveland (an unexpected kick) Pormodoro - Joe (bland yet satisfying) Pesto - Quagmire (nutty and fun) Cacio e Pepe - Chris (simple) Lemon Pasta - Stewie (a fruity delight) Fettucine Alfredo - Meg (shut up Alfredo!)
Mi manca l’Italia. I only discovered your comedy today. Really, really funny stuff. I appreciate the obsession around the carbonara too :) I’m the same about all things risotto.
this video brings me back to my own times in ROma 1988-1991; I was stationed at the Naval Base in Naples. I actually remember 2 gay bars from then: ANgelo Azzurro, and "Alibi", that last one being built on the side of Monte Testaccion, a mountain of old Roman AMphora shards. I even got to see Madonna in Rome in 1990ish at Stadio Flaminio. Man the memories that come flooding back
Italy has such a different vibe than the UK and US ... very normal to eat at 8 or 9 then go for a stroll and maybe a desert. I remember visiting the US and thinking who could possibly eat all the food they brought us. I honestly thought ... am I in some kind of eating contest? Such copious amounts of food, and the majority of it fried in lard. I have always been a slow eater and the last to leave the table. I want to enjoy my food and savor it. Not have it served and then inhaled in 10 minutes. Great video! Cheers
Love Matteo. Love his comedy. Love his day in the life content. Love his food content. Can we take a moment and talk about the editing? Wow. It really pulls this footage together.
Scoperto per caso navigando su YT. Grande Matteo!!! molto divertente ma lasciatelo dire : avevo intuito prima ancora di saperlo che avessi almeno una piccola parte di italianità... Di nuovo COMPLIMENTI!!!
Hi Matteo, Great video man! Love your tour, your cooking, your comedy!!! Just purchased a ticket to your show in Cincinatti on Jan 6. My husband and I have a VIP 2person table upfront!! Can't wait to see you in person perform your great act! I have been wanting to see you for years and this is the first closest show to me!! We will be the big couple in the front. I'm 6'4' 250lb and my husband is bald and a champion kick boxer so if anyone gets smart with you up there, we gotch your back man!!!
I've noticed in the Italy videos that you seem relaxed and softer somehow, while you're there. Like you can fully let go and exist without the uptight drama of living in modern America setting you off on an anxious or bitter tangent. The pasta alone. 😲😍 Thanks for another well executed storytime a la Lane. Ciao! 💗✨
Would someone just give this man a travel show already?
*Edit: Chris Caso also. Excellent production and filming.

I was surprised by the cigs but then i realized i forgot how much Europeans tend to smoke! Well at least they USED to
I would watch an hour of this for sure!
Cigarettes?
Italians love their cigarettes. Or at least they used to, don't know about now. @@tepiddairy

In love with the pace and cinematography of the video! Gorgeous view and narrative of Rome! Loveeee!
Gorgeous. You, Italy, the people, the comedy... all of it.

Ugh love this. I want to go back. Now we get to watch him actually enjoy the food he is eating. Bet there won't be any cannoli king signs ; )
Matteo makes it look like he really enjoys his time in Italy, but we all know he goes there just to have a smoke. 😅
What a lovely country, what beautiful people! Thanks for bringing that across!
Omg it's so beautiful! And the history , the food , the drinks 💖 love your style of comedy- so sassy 👩🏽🍳💋

Hi Matteo,
Great video man!
This is so awesome! I'm really happy to hear such great news about your life☺️and very sweet to share Italy with us! 🥰
This video made me happy, and vlogs don't always hit me right so that's pretty cool. 🙂
this is lovely, I'm so glad you had a good time! And that ice cream looks soooooo good!
Gosh I'm Italian and this video made me want to go to Rome right now
☆ Love Matteo's Comedy ♡
Thank you for sharing with us fans!!!
I've noticed in the Italy videos that you seem relaxed and softer somehow, while you're there. Like you can fully let go and exist without the uptight drama of living in modern America setting you off on an anxious or bitter tangent. I might be reading too much into it? 🤔😂 Whatever it is, I love seeing you chillaxed as such, Matteo. It suits you. And what a paradise Roma seems. The pasta alone. 😲😍 Thanks for another well executed storytime a la Lane. Ciao! 💗✨

I love the editing and story set up of this video! XD
