I've worked out on traditional heavy bags ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxp9-sf95nqfjey-uyzxUzQ7m9MXRPK1BE a spherical stuffed "wrecking ball" bag, and now this thing. What I like about it is that it has the heft to stay largely in place so I'm not chasing it around. It's tall enough to allow for headshots and body shots, but it's short enough to give an uppercut somewhere to land. I'm very happy so far. Filling it was a bit of a cluster. For top-offs, I've learned that you can screw the supplied nozzle onto any basic plastic water bottle. I can't speak to durability as I've only had it a week.
One of the best training drills I've ever used. Fantastic way to improve your cardio and power, especially when your winded. I can't recommend it enough.
Great workout. I really appreciate your posting this. I've been looking for a great boxing workout to get myself in better shape and this looks like a great one.
Thanks for this. A good idea for my home workout to prevent getting stale and I also noticed how much my shoulders burned during the riding the bike section. Cheers.
Nice drill, I normally find myself either burning myself out too quickly with the bag or slacking after a while, with this drill it'll keep me focused enough to get a good overall workout. Nice vid
This is GREAT! I went down to my old heavy bag hanging in the basement full of confidence intent on at least hanging in there for at least a few rounds of 30/30/30. Well, the "riding the bike" almost scored a K.O. on me in the first round. Thanks for posting a great work out, and something to work up to. I'll settle for a full minute between rounds though, I can't even fathom 3 min w. only a 15 sec break in between.
Thanks for the video! I've been going at it for about a month with a bit of change. 1st 30 secs of going through the motions fast. 2nd like the video (high knees) - get about 120-130 of them. Then 3rd one I try to hit the bag as hard as I can as fast as I can (not really interested in being a great boxer). Get about 80-100 hooks or 1-2's. Twice per round. 12 rounds and went down to 30 sec breaks about a week ago. 5 times a week. Seeing change in my body every week . Thanks!
wow!! my new fave drill. i like to do some blocks too....mix it up a bit :) love the ride the bike...amazing i feel stronger already after only a couple workouts. i love my bag!!!
hey dude just wondering i just got my heavy bag today... and im tryna start boxing so is it ok to warm up - 15/ 20 min light jog, stretching, push ups and sit ups and after my warm up il do 30 min - 5 min 6 rounds heavy bag workout so is that good? or do i need more time.... and is it ok to take whey protein after my heavy bag training?
@HDsharp more complicated then that, to know if a punch has power a bag isnt like ribs or a face, the fist is just hitting the bag but hitting a rib = the damage isnt always apparent, it can look weak but it actually spread damage inside the body and broke the rib. Furthermore, even if the punch is weak, speed and precision will decide weither youre still standing or on the floor looking at the ceilling.
I bought one a couple of days ago along with some mma gloves but is it necessary to have the boxing gloves or just optional? because the gloves i have have wrist protection and a very strong gel for padding
Just wondering, in the cold winter, is it bad for a boxing bad to be hanging outside in the cold? During nighttime it can get down to like -20 Celsius, which i have no idea what it is in farenheit.. Just wondering.
@Bhake5 the workout drill is good for inderants and getting your fighter in shape. As for tips on his fighting skills, he was just hitting the plain heavy bag. His focus was on the 30-30-30 routine and not on testing or showing his skills. My tip is add a boxing Box to the heavy bag drill and let your fighter challenge his own skills of fighting ever split second of the round. Now can i get your opinion as a top coach on the Boxing Box?
quick question, im a heavy puncher and after workouts my wrists and thumbs and always ache, am i punching wrong or is it something else? (only happens after working on my hooks)
cool vid :) very useful to me right now :) I bought and installed my punching bag yesterday, and found out that I don't even know how else can I use it than just "hit or kick it". So big thanks :) And sorry for my english ;)
@ElHugoUnico I agree, however, one tends to fight like the way they train. If you do stationary stuff in training, you have the tendency to remain stationary during sparring.
this is great. the funny thing is that 99% of the people who hate are people who don't have a single video on the channel that has anything to do with fighting.
@CeeEmmz I do my pushups on my knees for my warmup, just to go light, and vary between tight pushups and "bench press" (wide elbow) style. Just get warm. I don't stretch to warm up though: I don't think evidence shows it prevents injury, though everyone does it. I stretch AFTER I'm warm (after workout). I do squats, and skipping as well. Most boxers do 3 min rounds with 30 seconds rest, that I've seen. 5 mins seems very long. Post workout you want lots of carbs, some protein, and no fat.
this looks like alot of fun for sure i usualy do about 1/2 hr so im going to try this for that not including the rest stop setting my gym boss timer now ;) thx for the idea
I just started using a heavy boxing bag. After using it for the first time my knuckles were killing me and i could hardly open my hands afterwards. Will that eventually stop happening once my hands get used to it or should i buy better gloves?

This works. I usually laugh my a*s off at what some of these guys call "Training". I'd trust this guy training one of my athletes.
