Bumped into Michael at Macy's in Downtown Seattle once. I recognized him but I wasn't sure from where. I asked him if he might be a classmate at UW where I was at the time. He said no and told me he was an actor. We chatted about stuff for a bit and went back to shopping. Very down to Earth, generous with his time, good vibes. He's the real deal.

You can tell that the authenticity of MJW's commitment to Martial Arts has forged a silent force within him that comforts all who become the center of his attention. Humble and non-assuming, flexible yet solid, caring and respectful. The attributes of someone who uses his art to help others and protect those who can't protect themselves. A class act. I've always liked him primarily as a human first and secondly a creative source.
He shares what he has as though you were family and you get the feeling that it's intentional as a important part of teaching and because he probably treats everyone with respect as part of his personal mantra. Thanks Brother Michael.

The reason why I like Michael Jai White martial arts movies is simply because in quite a few of his movies, he's teaching fans his form of martial arts. I remembered watching the Bruce Lee movie Game of Death. HIs vision of that movie was to teach fans his form of martial arts. It was so unfortunate of him passing at such a young age. The three scenes Bruce Lee was in late in the movie demonstrated his amazing martial arts skills.

Well don’t take advice from this guy
He a movie star not a real fighter lol
He might take a few classes and light spar in the gym but he definitely doesn’t know how to throw a punch
He throws arm punches and hits like a girl
If you throw punches like this guy throw for speed to set up a hard shot
To punch hard you got to drop your weight and it’s a way you brace your hips and legs that lets your drop your weight onto your opponent while you are punching
This guy a weenie just flexing his arm wit his shirt off lol
First thing I look for is how they set there lower body when ever I see any punching tutorial
You got to brace you hips and legs in a way that lets you drop your weight with you punches… while still being on your toes… in boxing you got to be able to fight off your toes… so you will be able to quickly react to what ever your opponent may come back with…
You only focus on your arms they way he overly does it to make sure the position you are in when you punch
But unlike this moron who really is just a tv character and not a fighter
You supposed to focus on built in defense
Instead of flexing your scapula to arm punch better like this moron
You have to make sure the arm you punc with is blocking your chin and the other free hand is guarding the other side of your face and elbows in to protect against any return fire
The way this tv star wannabe fighter over analyzes his arm for punching offensively is a dead give away he just a poser
If anything you do that for defense
If you want to focus on offense when punching then the power comes from how you brace your hips and legs to drop your weight
If you choose to hit like a girl and arm punch like this fake wannabe poser do it for speed to disguise you setting weight for the big punch

This is great stuff. Please remember for those starting out that your bone density in your wrists and arms is low. It takes a few months to get it high enough to hit really hard. You naturally get it from striking for ages when you are starting out. I returned after a year and my wrists and arms couldn't take the impact that my technique could generate.

JAis great noone needs to compare to anyone and claim whose better than who. JAis his own legend hes a great martial artist and looks like a very good man too i like jai.. listen the hate he got about bruce lee, listen if you ask bruce lee and put him on the spot, if he was being chinese hell be humble and kinda find a way to not upset the playing field, but if you put him on the spot im sure hed say he could be jai too... and JAi made valid points,,, because Bruce Lee was exceptional wihtout a doubt. but he did say and quoted "if i was 6"2 and 220lbs id rule the world" SO that tells you Bruce was aware of his size but he knew he was good and could find a way to beat anyone,, but reality is JAi has a huge size advantage and depending on how the fight went down, JAi as good as he is could beat Bruce... people say stories are fake ect, but these are world champions wiht EGos that claim Bruce was the best and a step a head. they swallowed their pride in saying that the great joe lewis envied bruce and talked alot of crap, only to later in life before he died and achieved alot himself, admit alot fo things... so bruce always knew, because there are alot bigger people, he could get hurt if he got hit, but bruce was far from stupid and a total genius lol.. but both guys are great and both guys hold themselves well are good characters... jai is his own legend, i think they wouldve been great friends, bruce wouldve loved jai, and learnt alot from jai aswell.
i say this on behalf of Bruce lee fans haters, or Chinese people or whatever, bruce also quoted, "under the heavens we are all but one family"
give some respect to JAi we are living in the last era or great martial artists that dedicate their life to traditnal martial arts, and have good character and teach people and guide people.. JAis a SIFU , he should be remember as a SIFU amognst the greatest of martial arts legend and not compared...
I bring up BRuce hoepfully not to open wounds, but make people aware JAI and Bruce are both legit great martial artists, shouldnt compare but rather admire what they dedicated their lives too and maybe we can learn from the both of them..

Bruce lee is incredible i still havent seen anyone in this era or before that intercepts like he does. His timing speed and precision is rediculous.. Even Jai i dojt believe he has that ability to intercept.. To counter maybe,, but that zen like psychic ability ive not seen in anyone..
But still bruce was 5"7 and 140lbs.. Hed murder any average guy regardless of size. But Jai is legit.. I dont see the zen like precision in Jai, but hes got great technique. But you really nees to see Jai do a free spar like what bruce done.. No choreographed crap just allow someone free attack and see how good his timing distancing ect is, cause technique means nothing if you dont have them.

The part about punching at the end of the body's rotation is absolutely correct. Many people punch too fast, starting the punch before the body starts to rotate, and accelerating too fast, ending with a fast punch that impacts before the rest of the body is in position to develop maximum force.
Force= Mass x acceleration. Many people choose acceleration, speeding their arms from start to impact, but neglecting to rotate their core quickly and early enough. The result is a fast punch that has only the weight of the striking arm behind it, without the mass of the rest of the body. A better strike is like Michael said, to hit at the the end of rotation, when you can the body's rotation to the arm's mass, and then add in the ground reaction from the back foot at impact.

My knees bothered me so much and I asked you for your opinion and you took the time to correct my stance and the way I was placing my feet. I always listened as you taught. I remember how you showed how to strike without flenching in order for the opponent not to see it coming or when sparing you showed us how to stomp our feet and yell in order to startle our opponent and get that point through. Man I miss Top Ten Karate studio and those days you were our instructor. Your older than me but look 10 years younger than me. God bless you and keep up the great work.

Arriess lanss when I was 18 yrs old I started taking karate at a school named Top Ten Karate studio in New Haven Ct, he was one of the instructors. When I was there he already did Toxic Avenger 2. When the owner/ instructor sensei Larry Rogers had to work as a firemen, Michael White was our instructor. He was and still is a great instructor. These videos show that he is a true master. A funny story I remember was that he was trying out for Newjack city, the role he was trying out was a Cuban detective character. He had to learn a Cuban accent for the part. He asked me for help. I tried and I finally gave up and said I’m Puerto Rican born and raise in the U.S and don’t have an accent and can’t help. Then the next time he taught class he told me he didn’t get the part and he told me Ice T the rapper got it, well I guess they decided to get rid of the accent for IceT. I also remember him doing a commercial for Burger-king and they had him get a haircut with a shape of a biscuit. We kind of razed him about it and he laughed and said if you got paid $50,000 would you get that haircut. I was like hell yeh. I’m not sure if it was 50K but I know it was a nice stack of cash. The man is a true martial artist. He knows a lot of different styles with black belts in them to boot. He is in phenomenal shape and must be drinking from the fountain of youth. This incredible artist is literally a true artist in the martial arts. If this guy opened a can of whop ass on someone they would truly get that high quality ass whipping. I’m a witness to his authentic knowledge of his art. When he taught we listened.

Except for a few key differences, as Bruce Lee took massive inspiration from Jack Dempsey. He used the falling step to generate power for his 6 inch punch and used his last three knuckles, rather than the first two, in order to keep the punch "Pure". Purity in punching means the striking knuckles are facing the same direction as the moving body weight.

      @everydaycounts1562 2 роки тому +8

This is indeed the most powerful karate. I also did it for 10 years, at my highest level, I trained three times a day, six day per week.
10 Km runs, 1000 knuckle push ups, and 10 minutes split in the morning.
      Afternoon, trained at the dojo,
In the evening trained again alone at home
The reason I stopped (beside the enemies I generated through out that who always wanted to tests my skills,) it was the prayers that we did before and after training.
When someone who used to study kyokushin karate explained to me the prayers, I stopped that day and then I was attacked (spiritual), for a couple of months. But now I am fine, thanks to my Lord Jesus Christ.
I am not against training if you like to train, just be careful of prayers.
