I took apart my dryer to clean it and wouldn't you know it would not start. I searched and although I saw mention of the switch, your video is the one that was presented very clearly and allowed me to fix my dryer. You saved me the embarassment of calling someone to help. Thank you!
Don't know if you'll see this comment, but you were a life saver! We were able to reset the dryer and save a ton of money not having to replace it. Thanks!
Thanks a MILLION!!! Called Bosch Assistance and they said nothing about this reset button. I found your video and my machine started!!! Saved me a lot of money. Thanks again!!!
I'm sitting here at midnight trying to look for that damn switch, I have to work tomorrow and my wife wants to catch up with the laundry.... saved my ass dude, appreciate it.
You and your video saved me hours of frustration with my model electric. Took the back off and looked all over for the red reset button. Nothing! Bosch manuals suck! If I had t watched this, I would have given up. Called a repair guy for a service call. They said reseting wouldn’t fix my issue. I found it with your video, had to reset it twice, but it worked! Save me a few hundred bucks and days without a dryer. Called the service guy back and claimed victory. Thanks man!
I had the exact same issue. my wife washed a heavy weighted blanket that was not wrung out and was sopping wet. The dryer stopped functioning. Followed the instructions on the video and my dryer started right back up after a week of hang drying our clothes for a family of 6. Many thanks
Don’t know if you will see this but 7 years after you posted this you saved my butt.. A chipmunk had gotten in the dryer thru the vent pipe. Didn’t get inside the drum but sure stunk when the dryer was running. Had to take the dryer apart including removing the drum and belt to get the toasted varmint out. Put it all back together and lights but no action. Saw your video and recognized what you were showing . Pressed the left switch and like magic started working again. Thanks!!!! I was ready to call for repair.
Hi! I brought my dryer to Brazil when I moved back and here I couldn't find a person to fix it, so, I was read to buy a new dryer, expensive and not so good as this one from Bosch that I love. You saved me a lot of money and took a problem away from me. Thank you so much, man.!!!
Bosch has excellent engineers! They are from the finest elementary schools in Berlin. If you enjoyed working on this POS dryer you might want to work on an Audi next. Audi is where the engineers that can't make it at Bosch end up. Thank you so much for posting this video so long ago!! You saved my ass, really! I was stumped, completely and utterly stumped.
I research the crap out of stuff trying to figure out how to DIY when it makes sense. I couldn't find anything about a resetting a Bosch Nexxt 500 Electric Dryer. It pissed me off. Then when I had no choice but to call an appliance repair co. I got hit with a $339. charge for 1.5hrs so they could learn on the job how to reset the two spring-loaded parts you showed us in the video. In essence I paid for them to take it all apart because they had no clue what it was. Had they known what you knew they could have taken the back off, reset everything, and been out the door in less than 30 minutes. But that's just not the way my luck rolls. So, my hats off to you for figuring it out and sharing it with us. Wish I could have found your video and fix before I caved but the wife was breathing down my neck to get it done. Thanks again.
I also made the mistake of putting a sopping wet quilt in the dryer (old bosch washer doesn't always spin out excess water even when using the specific drain/spin selection and I was tired of restarting and babysitting it - didn't occur to me the blanket would brake the dryer,,,) after hours of research and essentially being told to check every component with a voltage tester (which we don't have) I actually did find guidance indicating their was likely an issue with the belt switch, but it didn't say anything about what to do with it. Another source indicated you should push them in, but didn't elaborate further. This video is the ONLY source I found actually specifying you need to have turned on and started the dryer for the switch reset to work - THANK YOU SO MUCH
I decided to clean my dryer because its been making some weird noises. While I was inside my dryer I hit this button by mistake. Put everything back together and went to turn it on a nothing. Spent hours looking inside and never figured out a solution. Thanks to coming to youtube and finding your video I saved myself the embarrassment of telling my wife I broke a working dryer and we need to buy a new one now.
I put in a bunch of super heavy towels that I used to mop up our flooding garage and now I have a flooded garage and a broken dryer! Your reset video should save me a call to the repair man. THANK YOU!
Just wanted to thank you! I had the dryer apart to clean out the lint, and was jostling the drum around. When it was back together it wouldn't spin, when I saw this video I immediately knew I must've hit the limit switch. Sure enough that's what it was! Mine was an electric and totally different model, but still same place and everything (other than I have to take off about two dozen fricking screws..)
THANK YOU for taking the time to figure this out as well as post your video! You saved us from calling a repairman and have made a busy mama happy to have her dryer back again. My husband was able to easily find the reset switch from your step-by-step instructions. And don't get too mad at your wife :-)--I have something in common with her! I put an over-sized blanket (king size) into the dryer and it shut off within two minutes. I never had this issue with our previous dryer which was a GE. Thanks again for your help.
Hi, thank You so much for this post, it worked, it’s running. My machine was open for a week, loud noise, I cleaned, tightened screws and last 2 days tried to start it with no luck, lights on, motor not starting, called service for tomorrow, decided to buy new but local popular store tells me no gas driers, 8 week wait. Gave it another look at you tube, found this post and voila, reset it and it works. Ping me whenever you are in Toronto area, lunch on me!!!
Thank You. Thank You! After replacing a bearing in my dryer, I couldn't figure out why dryer motor wouldn't start. So frustrating.. until I found your answer here!
Dude. Yes. U totally helped me too. I feel ya on shooting crap that don't work. Had a set of these given to me and the switch was tripped now it works. $2k new in my local stores. Thank you.
Believe it or not I have this dryer and your right, there's no video help. Your video was exactly what I needed to get my dryer running. Best 2 min. of my day ; ) Thanks
I couldn't thank you enough. We'd just gone through a move and hadn't used the dryer for a couple months. I finally replaced the OLD one that was in the house we bought. The power appeared fine, no error message, nothing except that I'd hit start and it just wouldn't do anything. Undid the couple dozen screws on the back, hit that switch, and MAGIC! Hopefully I'll still get years more use out of it, but I'm never buying a major appliance like this from Bosch again.
Still helping out a year later.... good job eurobimmer for taking the time to post this. It's Sunday, have a bunch of stuff to do, and the wife is in Mrs Clean mode and washes the quilt, yep! .... a quilt. Washer did ok, maybe didn't spin it out enough, but she puts it in the dryer and the dryer dies. Thanks for getting it back working.
You are the man!!!! Quick google search and this nailed it! My wife put a quilt blanket as well, and this video saved me crazy amount of time amd money! Couldn't be more appreciative!!!!!
Thank you for this video, your right on the money. I called a repair guy, he was a no show. I found your video and text him back and thanked him for not showing, You gotta love youtube
Wish I had found this thread before spending two hours with an ohm meter tracing wiring to determine why the motor would not start after replacing the drum support rollers.... The switch is actually appears to be a safety cut off in the event the belt breaks. Spring tension will pull the idler arm against the right button which cuts off power to the motor and heater circuits. Depressing the left button after the belt is installed will reset the system. If the belt stretches enough to cut off the unit during heavy loads......get ready to open it up again because the belt has surely stretched and needs replacing.....It will happen again when three kids and an untold number of grand-kids are visiting. Save future headaches and replace the belt while the units is apart!
Dude! You saved my ass. I tore it apart because the backside of the drum filled up with lint and was going to cause a fire. After cleaning it out, the thing wouldn't turn. Double clicks. Useless manual. I must have tripped it when I had the drum loose. Thank you so much.
Thank you!! I just changed the belt on my Bosch electric dryer, and afterwards the motor wouldn't start and I had no clue why. Your video showed the exact same problem and the solution. You saved me a service call and a lot of hassle. Thank you!
this actually worked! thank you! conventional wisdom would say to unplug it before sticking your hands inside, however this fix does not work unless the machine is plugged in when you hit those resets. PS. mine is electric not gas. same fix!
I have an electric Bosch Nexxt 500 series dryer and there is another reset switch to the right of the dryer vent (red wires going to it). If it gets too hot, it will trip the switch and it's on the box where the coils heat up. If they get dusty/dirty, you have to take that off, unplug the wire connectors and clean it out with a soft tooth brush and I used a swiffer. Canned air or air compressor would not be good unless you could take it outside and not breathe in the gunk. Just 411 for someone else. 58 yo Nana DIYer. 😁
Perfect! I had to take the hole darn thing apart to clean out two balls of lint that somehow made it into the gas burn metal housing and started burning. Put it all back together only to get this clicking :( Now I know exactly what I need to do once I take those 20 screws off again! such a PITA. Thank you!
Thanks! this helped me immensely as I was about to replace a belt on my Bosch dryer only to find out that the belt is no longer available. After assembling the dryer it did not work and this was the first video I checked out and you solved my problem. I removed the belt so I interrupted and somehow tripped that switch. great show my friend!!
Awesome. I just pulled a few screws out of the front seal(was making squeal noise) Had to pull the drum. I put everything back together and No start..Hit the reset like you said. This helped a lot
Man thank you very much we just got our first home and this machine was there we cleaned it up because it was a mess and when assembled it didn't work I was almost devastated thinking on all the time spent to make this thing at least to look decent and at the end have to buy a new one which we cannot afford now. Thanks God I found your video and it worked after resetting the magic switch. Thanks again.
First, Way too funny! I like the attitude!2nd, Although this dryer is a pain in the ass to work with... Ive had mine for about 20 years!!! That's pretty dam great for an appliance.3rd, there are no manuals, its insane trying to pull the front of the dryer cabinet apart.4th, after replacimg the Gas Value after it started making a loud pitch sound I changed out all the moving parts but it would not start again. Your secret solved the problem!!! HUGE Thank You!!! It was driving me crazy why it would not start!
Thank you for the video, it fixed my machine. Just be careful that your final switch you click is the one on the left before you put it all back together
THANK YOU!! This video saved me... had the entire dryer apart to clean it due to it smoking from lint getting into the burner. spent 2 hours rechecking all the connections when it wouldn't start up after reassembly. would have spent 2 more had i not found this video.
I just overloaded with wet quilt, it’s clicking twice. I am going to take apart tomorrow. What you did makes sense. I hope it fixes mine. If so, I owe ya!
Thanks the heat limit switch had tripped. I had to much lent in the dryer cleaned out and it's working fine . Found the code sheet on the frame rail in the back of the dryer it has all the codes .
Thanks a lot.It was a help for sure.My was giving a clik noise from relay.Bought a new realay for 35 bucks and same thing.Shit. Then I looked at your video and wholaa. I have a relay if someone need it
