Thank goodness for this video. I was told by a Bosch engineer who came out that you'll never get clothes to dry as older driers did. This is because of the Grenfell Towers disaster where a domestic appliance started the fire that spread to the cladding. An engineer who came to install my new dishwasher told me that was rubbish I had been told about my tumble drier!

The fluff filter must be cleaned every time. The fine mesh will block and will not let moisture pass through the condenser. So moisture stays in the drum. I clean the filter under running water and rub the mesh between my finger to remove the build up of limescale from the filter. If you can blow through the mesh and feel, the air pass through, it’s clear. Got this tip from reading the comments on another you tube vid.

Thank you for this very helpful video, we recently bought the series 6 in Spain and I’d been pretty disappointed with its performance (especially with bedsheets) and as all the buttons and the manual are in Spanish I wasn’t sure how to fix the problem, I started watching another video which I cut short after the guy began pulling out screwdrivers (our machine is brand new!), yours was the second video on the list and I’m so happy as it was such a simple fix, sheets are dry and kids beds are made, thanks again!.

    • @paula3582
      @paula3582 Рік тому

With bed sheets, you have to take them out every hour and put them back in. They tend to roll in a ball. I also use dryer balls to stop my bed sheets from going into a ball.

Having had this dryer (series 4 but still a heat pump Bosch) for a while, I much prefer it to really any other drier, simply because it looks after clothes so much better. I think the heat inside only gets up to 40-50c depending on the ambient temperature, where as conventional driers literally cook the clothes, shrink elastic bands and pill garments while stretching them out of shape. I’m happy to wait 2.5 hours for dry clothes if it has used 1/3 the energy and actually protecting my laundry lol

Thanks for the support Victoria. There is also a Heat Level Setting along the bottom row which makes a huge difference if you're having trouble getting your clothes dry. Give that a go if you haven't already. My biggest gripe with the machine is the fluff filter. Could that thing be designed any worse? You pull it out and fluff drops out on the floor and for some reason you have two separate filters, each as bad as the other. Why? My old condenser dryers filter was so much better. Appreciate the comment. Cheers.

I must admit, I’ve never really had a problem with it. It does take longer than a condensing drier but runs on a third of the electric. With heat pump technology you have to get into a different mind set and play the longer game👍🏻😀

very useful video, thank you!! The modes are completely useless since they always leave clothes damp for me. I have to do another 30 mins or so of drying each time. The timer is also not useful as it's inaccurate (guessing that's due to the sensor, but find it rather redundant). I defaulted to using timed progr. warm

Thank you for posting this but I regret getting this machine 3 years ago. Where we live in NZ it’s possible to partially dry clothes over most of the cooler months, and normally I would use a dry to fully dry linen etc. HO dryers won’t manage to dry items that are damp/cold at all. Making the husband rather miffed that the only alternative is to use drying racks to get items properly dry so they don’t smell

“Easy Iron” means keeps the laundry damp for ironing.
Anyway, I usually use cotton settings for all my laundry,

I have just bought a Bosch series 4 heat pump dryer and I'm extremely dissatisfied with it. They have made it so energy efficient it is useless for drying clothes. I'm surprised such a reputable manufacturer would sell this as a high quality product and at such a high price. Something is wrong somewhere. I've used mine only 4 times and I want them to take it back and give me a refund. The dryer is useless.

Never trust Bosch products anymore had 4 - fridge, dishwasher, dryer all had major problems but washing machine still new and no issue so far. It had an Ok rating on choice but just the 10kg washing machine only not the dryer or anything else Bosch. Now I have to buy a mismatched dryer. Not a happy camper 😔

@@job6054I Iooked at this at the store today. I think the specification the store listed had a much longer drying time than 2 hours? Which of course is very long and in a way defeats the purpose pf this machine. The old “air evacuating” dryer in my old rental house dried very wet clothes in about one hour. But that machine was horrible from an energy efficiency perspective, it just wented the moist and warm air to the outside of the building. So maybe it doesn’t really get much bettern than this with these new “energy efficiency before all else”-machines?

@@VeganStance Definitely not human error. My fridge appliance tech just came out for my fridge so I asked him about heatpump dryers. He said never get a heatpump dryer they take 4 hrs to dry a load and they're hugely expensive to fix. Nothing to do with individual settings being incorrect or even which brands. He said doesn't matter which brand they all have those same issue. He said only buy a "vented" dryer if you don't want to be waiting 4 hrs for 1 load and paying huge repair charges in future.

I am here as ours just broke with error 63. Settings on lower heat levels it dries. High heat, error 63. Everything has been cleaned out regularly. No blockages. It’s either the heat pump or the thermostatic sensor as a guess. 2 year warranty and broke 1 week out of warranty. Thankfully Bosch offering to fix it as a gesture of goodwill. Last dryer, Siemens, lasted 15 years and only failed as the removal guys dropped it out of the truck and the door snapped off and buckled the drum.

The "self cleaning" condenser doesn't. It gets clogged and unlike earlier models you can't remove it to clean it. You can take the bottom panel off and cut out the panel in front of the condenser to access it but you still can't remove it. You can clean it but then need to buy a replacement panel to screw back on. At least you can then clean it in the future.

Let me emphatically agree with this comment. I replaced a 33 year old Zanussi Tumble Dryer with a Bosch Heat Pump Dryer 9 months ago. It has never dried any of my clothes to my satisfaction, even though I clean ALL the filters and the condenser after every use. Never in all the years with the Zanussi did I need to dry at the high heat setting. I never once ran a program longer than 60 minutes, even when drying large bath towels. By contrast, this Bosch device needs over 5 hours to achieve the same level of dryness the Zanussi would deliver in 20 to 30 minutes. The partially dry towel I then has to be left for another day or two hanging inside the house before it is dry enough to use, The Bosch is a piece of wildly over-priced, under-performing junk. Never again. Oh and btw, the Zanussi required 1 service call out in those 33 years - to replace a failed drive belt. I am going to be most surprised if this Bosch device lasts even 3 years.

My biggest problem with these is the design is absolutely horrendous for long term use. After about 2.5 years i noticed the drying time significantly increased (got to the point of taking 7hrs to dry a single load at the 3 yr mark).. i had cleaned all 3 filters every load.. i pulled it apart which is definitely not designed for average users (about 40 torx screws, removing the entire drum and horrible plastic clips over the evaporator).. the ENTIRE dryer was caked on the inside with lint. Literally every nook and cranny.. really lucky this didn't start a fire.. ive worked on many very OLD standard dryers and never found anywhere near this level of lint. Anyway it took a few hours to clean, now it's good as new.. but seriously this means the average user would have to fork out a few hundred dollars for a service tech after warranty expires, or buy a new dryer.. disgusting way to fleece customers out of money. Highly recommend avoiding bosch heat pump dryers to anyone considering unless you are happy to waste a few hours of ur time every couple of years!

Hey Wozzgalaxy. Sorry to hear about the troubles you've had, but I'm not surprised. The design of the filters themselves are what drives me crazy. You pull the filters out to clean them and bits of fluff go everywhere. How this passed the design and testing stage, I'll never know. Appreciate the comment. Cheers.

@@JustAwesomeCommercials yeah i noticed that too! When i pulled it apart i also realised the drum is designed with small circular cutouts at the back which i think helps lint get spread through the machine! My experience was with a series 4. Painful for such an expensive dryer!

I did the same, deconstructed right down to the condenser box. I cleaned it all out (very caked with lint) and the dryer started performing again. Trouble is, 12 months later, the performance has, yet again, tailed off significantly and I'm faced with either pulling it all apart again, or getting something rather better, including a reverse cycle. A very poor design from Bosch. (mine is a series 8)

but for ever drying target you have 3 drying level to adjast you know that right? so most of peoples will use mix with level 2 (the 2 suns) and everything came out dry you can chose 3 sun for the thick stuff! and but the way, cold timed program doesen't dry at all is just air. sir you miss understand the basic setting of your machine! so you dont have to switch from closeth to closeth plus but leave closeth and add 1 or 2 or 3 sun before to switch to closeth plus that is to much and even in closeth plus you can still regulate 3 sun

Terrible product! Mine worked great for 11 months, I’d dry using Mix program and setting drying level to 2 suns. After 11 months of usage it started not to dry properly anymore, now it takes over 3 hours to dry the same amount of clothes I used to dry in 1:30! The technician is coming next week and I’ll let you know what’s going on.

I use the settings you pointed out there for 5 hrs!! None of the settings remotely work. The spin dry of the washing machine works better. Since day 1 this dryer has never worked properly. My old $200 dryer works better than this $1500 crap.

Completely defeats the purpose of these appliances if one has to come back to it and check the dampness and rerun the cycle. Would not buy one of these.

The Sun drys sheets faster than this thing. Continually emprying the water tray, cleaning the filter and still damp at the end of a cycle. Shouldnt need to do multiple cycles on different settings to dry sheets. Worst purchase.
