I have a seven-year-old Bosch washing machine that has a touch-sensitive panel. Its on/off "button" has recently become similarly unresponsive and the "big finger" technique didn't help. However I found that by using a hairdryer on its lowest speed and heat settings, aimed at the "button" for about five seconds would work. So it suggests that some metal contact behind the panel is a bit worn out and needs some heat to expand it sufficiently enough to reach an activating switch. It's probably not going to be a long-lasting "solution" but may be worth a try until you can get a proper panel repair or replacement done.
Thank you so much for making this video. We have a new bosh washing machine ecosilence, also touch screen pannel, and it was so weird because the default programs would always start no problem, but as soon as you made any changes to the temperature or spin speed, it wouldn't start, only beep twice. We started thinking there was a problem woth the control board, but luckily i found your video :) next time it beeped twice, I touched the start button with my thumb horizontaly for 1s, and that did the trick :) so grateful, thanks!
Great video thank you for the information I have a question regarding my dryer (wtmc6500uc/01) the star/stop button is not working all the time...do you happen to have any idea on how to fix it without having to purchase a $600 dryer control module? Please and thank you.
Happy New year to all of you! I just had the same problem with my 8 series bosch dryer, pushing the digital start/pause button and receving a 2 bip sound. After disasembling the front panel and cleaning it with the vacum because it was full of dust and then checking all the contacts hoped for a fine start... But nope stil dead!!! And then it just hit me... What if the 2 bip sound was from the closed door contact?! S-o grabed a screwdriver and started playing with the contact pushing and releasing it and at the same time pressing the start button... and surprinse!!! my dryer started. I belive that the closed door contact seems to be the problem, maybe a not so perfect contact or something like that, but for me it seems to be the fault! 😅😅😅
Repair guy came out a couple times, and we eventually bugged them enough they did a warranty replacement of the touchpad. That seemed to make it a little better, but still happens periodically. Edit: Hard to say if it's the repair or a change in our button-pressing "technique" that made the difference. My wife absolutely has to use her thumb; using her index finger almost always gives this behavior.
Wow, so I tried to make sure I used every piece of skin on my thumb to press the button and it didn’t work. So I used two fingers and guess what? It worked! All these videos about removing this and taking that apart, the whole time, my finger was just too small to push a button
What's funny to me is that I didn't make this video as a fix, I made it because my landlord was coming by with the repair guy and I wasn't going to be there but I wanted to show them exactly what the issue was. I'm thrilled the video is helping people, but these Bosch touchpads are clearly flawed and need to be fixed. There shouldn't be any special technique rewuired to press a dang button, the button should just work!
Brand new dryer, exact same problem. Your video saved me a lot of trouble. Beyond me how this could be acceptable.

Thank you! This was the only thing that helped, everything else said we’d have to replace some part of our dryer.
