Great news most will be laid off and back on Govt assistance?
Yes you want see the sign in the window at McDonald's saying hiring 11.00 an hour anymore . They will cut back to part time, and they want have a hiring sign in the window.
Pretty sure that’s the plan in the first place

No unskilled worker deserves 20 USD per HR!@@jessyhavron2548
That's the plan
Sorry, dont expect me to support 20.00 workers at fast food establishment.
Junk food is bad for your health
And if fast food companies raise prices on customers to compensate, they will be boycotted. It’s gonna be a battle to see who keeps the cheapest prices.
they will not raise prices, they will close
lol CA voters put business owners in the toughest possible position and then say, "FIGHT TO THE DEATH!"
Businesses literally pass their costs on to customers. That's how business works. Cost + Margin = Price. I hope the restaurants all raise their prices consistent with their costs in order to maintain profitability for investors who are still hoping to retire someday.
So now fast food workers are making the same as a surgical technician or a radiologist technician. Next, they'll be making as much as hospital nurses.
In some states, that’s what nurses do make an hour.
I see this argument a lot, from Americans. Your perspective is peasant-minded. You're question should be, "Why are trained professionals paid so little?" And the answer is the same as "Why are retail workers paid poverty wages?"...They shouldn't. But your media convinced you to fight eachother (so nothing is done), instead of teaming up as Americans used to, to fix *both* issues.
@@GreyCrowe You are the foolish peasant. The market should decide wages. All you are doing is raising the price of EVERYTHING by doing this THUS negating the wage increase to begin with! Not to mention layoffs, cut hours and lost buisness.
Your $20 bill is worth $5.
That's what this is telling you.
You're 100-dollar bill is worth $20. The government has a responsibility of protecting the nation's currency- it failed.
I didn’t know the federal reserve was part of the government 😂

..AND THE INFLATION SPIRAL just keeps spiraling... thanks Joe!
...bidenomics and his new $1000 bill will spend like the old $100... Carter years all over again
Why not 100?
Imagine. Similar to the $20, it would drive all wages up and, in turn, prices. This would, ultimately, leave people with about the same buying power as they had to begin with. It’s all about supply and demand. If you live in a high demand area, you’re going to pay more. Increasing the wages of the population isn’t going to ease demand.
That’s too much more like $35 then the cost of living would reflect something that boomers enjoyed…
Instead of raising prices maybe these highly successful companies can take a little of their multi million dollar salaries with bonus and perks and share with the employees. Why should minimum wage workers have to be thankful they have to work 2 jobs to survive
If US wages kept up with inflation since 1980, it'd be around $20. This is just America catching up after 4 decades of worker power declining...Mostly thanks to Regan and Boomers
@ericacole7102 you don't know how economics work... this is a disaster for CA residents, who are going to end up footing the bill for all the new unemployment... but now CA has more control over its populace
Fast Food is awfully bad for you. (Early 2000s study considers a person that eats it more than once a week, a heavy user.) Due to all the chemical ingredients.
Then the gas, electricity and rent are higher after that. Restart for back to A one again.
So your wages don't cause inflation, but theirs do?
@@ryder4508 my company merit increase is between 1-5 percent depending on your performance and we are in high tech, for fast food worker which require very little or no skill or high education and increase from
$15 to $20 is 33% is unconscionable, that is the reason why inflation is off the roof.
Minimum wage hikes is an illusion of getting more to the uneducated workers.
..AND THE INFLATION SPIRAL just keeps spiraling... thanks Gavin!
Congratulations. You got a raise. Now turn your apron in.
😂
now, pay double for groceries and 25% more for rent, 100% more for insurance, and go get an electric car....bidenomics
They will pay them $20 but only give them pt work. That’s how most of the stores are too then they gripe about not being able to find workers.
I agree and not only that, fast food workers pay crazy expensive taxes
That's where the migrants come into the discussion.
don't worry baby, everything will go up proportionally, very soon they will ask for $25 minimum
Just ordered 6 robots for my restaurant 😊.. 20k a robot that will last me 5 years .. and maintenance every 6 months ,.. so worth it 😊
If you aren't making at least $20 hr in 2024, a 1 bedroom efficiency apt is almost impossible to qualify for in 48 states (outside of government subsidized housing)
Should have stayed in school and majored in Physical Education.
...get a roommate....
You're right But pain mcdonald's workers twenty dollars an hour is crazy
Ya because jobs meant for 16 years old are worried and rent 😂😂😂😂😂😂
I inherited my parent’s house and pay the bills for it on $15 an hour. But it’s paid off.
Some owners will resort to automation and/ or robotics overseen by an operator and/ or operators at present in case the program needs coding corrections. That is the reality. Post Pandemic Self-serving kioks were in place as a precursor to automation. Remember, your past orders might be instored from your file and will be retrieved when repeatedly ordered. We, as humans, " are creatures of habit and more often predictable.
That's what they said about 5.00 hr, 7.00 hr, 8.50 hr, 10.00 hr, etc..etc..etc.. Production and profits on avg are up about 400% from 2007 when the last min wage increase was... *17 YEARS AGO* . And because of America's increasingly flaccid anti-trust laws, most companies have merged into wealthier conglomerates...In addition to, stock buybacks becoming legal and companies dropping hundreds of millions buying their own stock. Companies are not going to hurt if a fraction of that is required reinvested in their labor.
California is essentially on hospice care.
Starbucks… no longer tipping
$5 dollar inch long now at subway! or arbys 5 for $55.55!
This conversation is a bit too advanced for your pay grade sargent. Go back to your sand box. Dismissed. 🖕
Sorry but fast food should be minimum wage, its not a career unless you plan on becoming a manager.
20.00 is the minimum wage now.
How much money do you think someone needs to survive in today's economy?
Why is it when the poorest of people get help, the country is going to fall apart because of their lazy greed... but if the 3 families who have more wealth than 75% of the nation get a tax cut, that's making us stronger?
Stop caring the water for billionaires who are just going to charge you fees for access to the water you carried FOR them.
@@arronsmith4958 Hey now, if you tax that billionaire another %5 they will get depressed, not want to innovate anymore, and will just stop working. Then everything will stop without them. If you reduce the wages on the poor, they will work harder instead of being "lazy" while earning a meaningful living wage. /trickle down logic
Yeah I agree that the billionaires should be taxed more but I also feel that a job in the fast food industry does not deserve pay similar to someone who cleans the hospital or someone clerical in the healthcare field.
@@arronsmith4958and who do you work for? A poor person? Stop demonizing the rich, they are the ones providing opportunities!
...AND THE INFLATION SPIRAL just keeps spiraling... thanks Joe!
Wow I guess the orange man was right again. 😮
Automate so you dont have to pay high school educated 20.00 per hours.
It will affect all wages. The person currently making $20 is going to want $23. Their coworker making $22 is then going to want $25 and so on.
It would be interesting to see what percentage of minimum wage earners are high school students.
I hope Amazon in California pays more because of this, when I worked there it was much more difficult than fast food. You have strict quotas and monitoring of your work and you only get 2 breaks and the rest of the time you are working nonstop, there is never a slow period.
The owners will just have to go
without shoes....
DOWNSIZE....from 10 to 9 pairs
Wow. Just wow. This will hurt everyone in the long run. There goes the prices.
Awwe. You're a clinical example of the effectiveness of corporate media propaganda. To so easily regurgitate the same trope used for every wage increase since the 50s, without seeing the obvious redundancy, is pretty amazing
@@GreyCrowe he's right
They'll get less hours because food prices will rise and customers won't come in, in the same numbers
Fast food workers put
“things” in the food.
ya know what i’m saying
they earn a living by put things in the food, they are not doing for free. if they want high pay, go back to school.
Now you're making 0 dollars and hour
Youll be fired or have your hours cut so in the end youll be making the same if not less 😂😂😂😂
That's ridiculous 😒
So people getting paid less than 20 anywhere in food is gonna want 20..Lots of jobs will open up dor young people agian
Just dropped the dollar Big time
Yep that’s how it works, it’s the value of the dollar that gives you a raise not setting a rate that decreases the value of the dollar
@@ytzpilot I'm aware of that clearly.... printing at an exponential rate certainly doesn't help
@@ytzpilotDo your part and ask your boss for a reduction in pay. It will help fight inflation.
@@ryder4508 I am the boss, all my staff are on a living wage, they all get 20 paid holidays a year, 10 paid sick days a year, plus 12 paid statutory days a year, and we all do a 4 day work week, so that’s a 4 day 32 hour week plus 42 paid days off a year. Do you have a problem with that? It’s been our policy for 7 years now and it works for us
@@ryder4508 I am the boss, all my staff are currently at $23.15/hr plus commission, we work a 4 day work week, we all get 32 paid vacation days a year plus 10 paid sick days a year. It’s been our policy for 7 years now and it works for us.
Fast food chains with 60 or more locations nationwide to meet that wage. Should be interesting to see if prices go up nationally or just locally to CA.
If a new hire is gonna make $20 the business will have to pay the workers that's been there for years $22-23 or more. Why go to college 🎓 if you can make $40k as a burger flipper 🍔 🍟
Imagine the ones who have worked for 5 10 plus years and already making 20 an hour...they won't get payed 22 23 an hour I guarantee it
Does this mean that the workers will care to make your food correctly? Will your fries from McDonald's be full? Will your food be fresh, for example, fries? No one forces these individuals to work at these establishments. I believe it is just an entitlement mentality. California is a broken state, with a pathetic governor.
Had a gal who once told me she'd get the order correct if she was paid more. It's a very opposite world now. Ive always seen it the other way. You work harder you'll make more.
$20 plus tips
Well, I am not going to go out to eat anymore. I am not paying the incredible price increases on fast food that are coming. Because it will still be low quality food presented like slop for record pricing. No Thanks. Or should I thank Newsome for finding a way for Californians to not eat fast food. Hummmm.
EAT THE RICH! MAKE IT $100/HR! Why not $1,000/hr??
These people don't get it. "Unfortunately, California is really expensive so earning $20 in any job is really helpful to pay for gas, electricity and rent, which is so expensive." It's expensive because of how you vote. Well, prices are going up again with this.
The more minimum wage goes up, the more people make minimum wage, the more people make minimum wage, the more minimum wage goes up, the more minimum wage goes up...
If you're not working 60 hours a week, you don't want to pay your employees more. Lead by example and you will see efficiency and productivity. But be wise enough to adjust and let betters lead when they should.
If i were the business owner i would slow down the production process of serving the food so that it is no longer fast.
Well obviously its los angeles why did u choose to live here its not cheap so deal with it. But i mean look whose talking.
food trucks pay cash, report ? to the state as per taxes and wages. No way brick-and-mortar fast food can keep up. There is a food truck parked in the lot full time
Yeah I feel so bad for the Ricky Schroeder's that own multiple, multiple fast food restaurants as in like 10 and more. All these LLC companies that own like 20 Burger Kings. Pay up
They will all be closed within months.
Soo your a business owner gotta comply mentality now you lost your business kudos liberal. I'm pocketing big money here and working hard no excuses
Where's their PENSION PKG? Their company CAR? Their PENTHOUSE SUITE?
I'll go to a REAL restaurant,... where people can at least speak ENGLISH!
BOYCOTT FAST FOOD NOW PEOPLE!!!!!
This hurts the poorest the most, as they will not be able to find jobs.
Ridiculous. It's not far off minimum wage in the UK. Slightly higher to equal but depends on exchange right.
As an employer in the hospitality sector I can safely say that the tipping culture in America disturbs me. The cost of labour should be built into the cost of a product. People providing the labour should not be forced to rely on generosity handouts (regardless of if it's a "tipping culture") to earn a living.
It will not prevent anyone finding jobs, it means people working these jobs can afford to feed their kids AND care for them instead of working 3 jobs just to feed them.
or afford the new food prices
The poorest are also usually the ones that eat at fast food restaurants. Not sure if they had thought about that.
@@youtoobization of course not. liberals dont think anything through. thats their problem
You would be such a kind business owner, helping the poor by paying them less. 😂
Well, the fast food workers make more money but they'd have to pay more for food as well so the wage increase basically forces "everyone" to pay more for fast food.
and we will be back to square one.
Is this an example of bidenomics, or something else?
Best to sell your business if you're unwilling to pay your workers enough to actually fulfill their basic needs. 0 sympathy for business owners who expect and feel entitled to cheap labor.
(That's so Socialist of you, Comrade.) And you should give all of your paycheck to those that don't have a job, since you are so worried about equality. If other's don't have, you shouldn't have either, right?
@@baldmenwin9591 It has nothing to do with equality. Strawman argument.
If the job takes your week to do but doesn't pay you enough to survive, then the job shouldn't exist. Reality, huh.
@@dreamcoyote the job pay based on skill / education, if you want higher pay, you need to have higher education, fast food was never meant for career. fast food has 0 skill.
@@ThomasNguyen-qw6ro So, it's ok to use exploitative pay for your workers because they should get more education and leave those jobs, meaning other workers will replace them and also be exploited.
It's still WORK and that should be compensated. Should a ditch digger get $1 an hour for hard labor because it doesn't require classes? No, obviously not. Your premise completely sidesteps exploitative pay for a small number of people to maximize *their* profit.
Should be $25
But I'll settle for $20
Thank you
this is sabotage, it will destroy communities
so consumers pay u employee ? nice ! guess what i boycott
You were never supposed to meant to support your families on fast food worker jobs
Agreed. Those jobs should only be for college students or anyone that just wants a p/t job. Should not have so many awful fast food restaurants in the first place.
"Never"?
Did the dude who worked at a restaurant back in the 1950's not support himself and a family? I get that you want to solve this with child labor, but don't pretend that people didn't earn their livelihoods doing these sorts of jobs in the past. Where do you think most people worked before WWII? Wall street? People delivered milk in trucks and supported a family. The dishwasher at the restaurant - family.
When jobs moved overseas in the 1980's (thanks trickle down!), more people were pushed into this job market, but don't pretend that it's just ok to move it all to child labor. And no, it isn't solved by just having more education, because someone will always be abused at those wages.
If you can’t run a discretionary business when paying workers a living wage, then the discretionary business should not exist.
Reading comments from Americans its no wonder your homeless and child poverty rates are soaring. Ive never seen citizens so hostile in readily defending low wages lol 😂
If you can afford to pay your workers then you should NOT be in business.
20/hr for fast food? It’s not meant to be a high income job
Socialist mindset is a drain on society.
Try rereading your post.
No. YOU try to understand basic economics. And how the useless bigot boomer generation allowed their progeny to be less prosperous than the generation before. 🖕🇺🇸
Maybe California will have a shortage of fast food chains. Is Apple Bees considered fast food?
