That was work of white slaves.
Plenty complainers, yet they continue voting the same…
You can't fix stupid when it comes to Democrats voting 😂.
And...buying.
Fast food restaurants will raise the prices and lay off employees
Good to layoff people bad to raise prices
Sorry not paying 12 a burger so a no skills worker can be overpaid
I went to Subway for a footlong, chips, soda, and cookie. It came out to $18. I won't be going back.
Don't bank on that $20 employees. These company's will lay you off. Doesn't matter if they can afford it. Franchises are not the ones making the money the corporations are. These ppl associate the corporation and franchise as one entity. It's a pyramid set up. So enjoy looking for another line of work and complain you deserve $20 then. Apparently no one paid attention in school. Everything is so expensive for various reasons but one of them is paying people more and passing cost to consumer.
Why have you not stopped to consider the contradictions of your own beliefs for even a second? "People don't have enough money so we must give them less money." Never mind the fact that the top 1% of people (that being, the business owners who pay people wages) have had their wealth tripled in the past two years while the wealth of the bottom 99% has remained stagnant in the past 40 years. I wonder where all the money goes when businesses increase the price of goods if not the wages of workers? You must realize the true enemy who makes everything more expensive, and it's not workers demanding more money.
Seriously, just think about it for one second. If everything around you is becoming more and more expensive, and yet your income has not increased in any meaningful capacity, where is all that money going? It's not going into the cost of labor, as you have not seen any increase in your own wage. However you do see that your boss has recently increased the cost of the goods that you produce, blaming some vague supply chain issues and taking opportunity of the overall inflation in the economy to earn some extra money. As a result he has bought himself a second house and yet you can't even afford the goods you produce yourself anymore.
@@supahx1421 and now you can't even afford anything because you are out of a job. Yay $20 an hour.
@@Baebon6259 An inevitable consequence for a profit maximizing firm. Damned if you do, damned if you don't. It's almost as if businesses don't care about what people want or need and care only about their bottom line. Low wages and inflation are just a symptom of this issue.
@@supahx1421 - I'm always a bit surprised when people quote the top 1% have more wealth than the bottom 99% false narrative. It boggle the mind that they can be so clueless and just regurgitate what they heard on MSM. Approximately 120M people in the U.S. are between the age of 0-29 our of a population of 3330M. How much wealth do you think those in that 0-29 age category have been able to accumulate?
So glad I can't afford to eat fast food. I am so much healthier cooking at home.
Why is minimum wage increase needed more for fast food workers than other jobs like retail employees?
That’s ok here come the robots
I was at Burger King the other day. They had 2 employee, 1 in kitchen and 1 working both the drive through and cashier.
What a bunch of idiots. Employers will reduce hours and layoff staff and many locations will close. If I were an employer I would invest in automation to reduce my labor. Minimum wage jobs were intended to just be a first job to get experience not a career.
Ask for me I've already stopped patronizing fast food places if you're going to pay them $20 an hour that's great for you guys but I'm not going to eat there anymore cuz you're just going to charge more for your food which is garbage to begin with 😊

No businesses will think that they can get away with that but they won't be able to so they'll be forced to either fire management or actually figure out a way to make their cost work I got a hint for you this is ultimately only going to screw over middle management will take a long time to screw over the top management but it will eventually screw them over. It'll teach them to respect the consumer

Basic economics. Grow the minimum wage, prices will go up. Prices go up, people then still cant afford a burger, then will ask for more money. Corporations don't own these locations btw, franchisees own them, so to say they can afford it, its irrational because the corporations dont pay the workers.
The Government needs to ban E.B.T. cardholders from wasting taxpayers dollars on overpriced unhealthy Fast-food restaurants.
Where the hell can folks use food stamps at a restaurant. I know folks in Ohio that gotta food stamps. Y'all can't buy hot food in Ohio like that.
Boy they won't stop until the burgers are microscopic
If they don’t lay people off, they so will reduce their hours.
Why would reducing hours matter? They weren’t getting overtime to start with. Someone else will have to cover the hours and it’s still at $20/hr. The only way to save money for the company is to make the same person work multiple positions at the same time.
$20.00 hr and they give you 5 hrs a week and cut all benefits. Goid luck with that.
There is no balance. The minimum wage goes up and then rent will go up I can see that happening in the future it will never stop
Well, you aren't entirely wrong. Inflation is inevitable under a capitalist mode of production. However it's not just because people are getting paid more. The productivity of workers has increased by over 50% in the past 50 years due to technological advancements, so they should be making thing less expensive. We do not see that happening however, and the real wage of workers (adjusted for inflation) has remained stagnant in the past 40 years. What we have seen however is a disproportionate increase in the wealth of business owners who pay those workers the same wage for the increased output.
Inflation is up because of the corrupt lefty leadership
Bullshat. Productivity is garbage, especially in the fast food industry. It won’t change anything. Now the lazy ones just get paid more to be lazy. Or will be running the kitchen with half the people.

Since this is going to increase the price of my order and servers are now given a "living wage" of $20 an hour, I will no longer be tipping servers. They have a living wage and tipping culture has gotten out of hand.
So 20$ an hour to flip burgers and go home every day but the average person in the military serving their country is making 5$ an hour to be away from family, the math just ain’t mathing
What good is the higher minimum wage when the cost of living is going up? It just ratchets out the smaller businesses.
Cool. Maybe you should ask your boss to lower your wages to help fight inflation.
It will be a double whammy. Higher cost of everything lowers the demand, higher cost of labor lowers profitability. There is no reason to run business if it generates losses.
@@ryder4508 perhaps, it's better to have a lower paying job than no job at all.

California restaurant owners say that Higher labor costs will lead to Higher Prices for Customers & will curb hiring. While major fast-food chains might be able to absorb such costs, smaller operators will struggle & could be layoffs & closures
As someone who use to work in reatil, this may sound great but not when your hrs get cut. So full time most likely will go from 36 to 32hrs a week part time will lose more hrs. And then the they will raise the price
Yeah but the way that was written you get paid for working 40 hrs. So now on top of 20/hr they will get paid 8 hours for not being there.
I sure hope alot of these workers lose their jobs over this handout of money. NO ONE flipping burgers, cleaning hotel rooms , sweeping floors, making coffee and so on should be making no more than $12 an hour. Growing up when i worked in the fast food industry i didnt cry cause i couldnt make it on this wage i cut back on things and went to get a degree. This BS $20 will cause these workers to lose their jobs and raise food cost prices as we have seen already.

Fast food wages were never made for someone to rent an apartment and lease a car or support a family.. They are for high school kids and some seniors who need a little pocket money. They require no experience and no training or special skills. You are supposed to get promoted, get some training, go to school, etc. and make something of yourself not work menial jobs the rest of your life.
That's just some stupid shit you made up.
Not anymore. Fast food replaced manufacturing when you voted to send it to china.
Says who? And simple desk jobs that can lead to promotions and allow you to make something of yourself used to be enough to afford a home and start a family. Now you need both people in a couple to work long hours at any kind of job just to be able to afford an apartment. America screwed its people when it sided with corporations and foreign countries that allow labor abuse.
No where in the constitution or any law book does it say fast food jobs are for kids and seniors. It’s a societal view by pompous dimwits who think they’re better than these workers because they got lucky in their job search.
You are absolutely correct. These jobs are starter jobs for teens. Last time I was paid minimum wage I was 16 not 30.
I've got some news for you: you can't rent an apartment on 20.00 per hour in California. And good luck affording a lease unless you're not paying rent.
Buh-Bye fast food...................
Hello healthier population.

making fast food unaffordable for low income families
Maybe for a little bit but the companies will realize that the only reason their food was being bought in the first place because they were cheap not good so they will have to revert back to some former pricing otherwise people won't go.
Fast food is already unaffordable even in states with no min wage laws (eg. Texas)

470000 divided by 10 stores is 4700 per store annually divided by 325 working days is 144.6 extra per day per store. These stores are bringing in thousands of profits per day and this guy can’t absorb $144.6. A very small price increase will cover that. Like a 2-5% increase. Yet these owners will bitch and cry and raise prices 20-30 percent or more. And that number he’s throwing out is very likely exaggerated too.
Your math gave me a chuckle 😂
Why are people trying to make a living working in fast food restaurants? It was something I did in the summer in my junior and senior years of high school.
One has to be such a loser to be working in fast-foods as an adult, let alone try to make a living.
'gig workers'...aka independent 'contractors'...
Letting go of employees due to the minimum wage increase would mean if you go to fast food, you won't be able to get your food just as fast then because less people, less service. Yeah and don't expect the people left over to be in a hurry to serve you. They'll start carrying the DMV attitude because they're the ones left doing the jobs of 10 and hiring a new worker is now expensive. The chains will have to do extensive vetting to get qualified people for customer service, so yeah, cutting jobs is only going to give the people who are still employed more leverage. That's a lose for the customers since chains can now pick and choose who to serve.
OH yeah, and if most of the jobs get automated, you're going to replace the fast food workers with a technician that services the machinery, which will be more expensive than the entire workforce you previously had combined. And from my previous experience in being in the tech field if there is a service that needs to be done, we can drag the project completion for as long as we want. The longer it takes to complete the project, the more money we get. And the best thing is that the company we're servicing can't do anything about it but wait because we're they only ones who can get the machines working. We can drag a 1 hour job to weeks just to get money from the client.
If you're a fast food chain owner who wants to get rid of a team of low paid employees who has no leverage over you for a technician who literally holds your company by the balls, then that's 100% your call.

This is the problem. The rich will never accept less. We have a zero sum economy. If someone makes millions of dollars, many other have to live in poverty. The money doesn't grow on trees. And when new money is printed, it devalues the money in existence, so the only way this system works is for the rich to accept doing with a little less. But it's always the middle class and poor that are asked to deal with less. And it just keeps getting worse. I don't see how this system will be functioning in 50 years from now.
