      Is it new-scum or the brain dead bag licking demokkkrat voters with their single digit iq's that are destroying commie-fornia? The 'vote blue no matter who' idiots in commie-fornia would vote for a garden gnome if it had a demokkkrat party membership. And it is reflected on the blue run third world shitholes they laughingly call "communities". MMT-Magic Money Tree economics of these blue asshats is reflected in the massive debt that will eventually have to be repaid. Good luck with that.

    Fast food restaurants were places for kids to start off their work experience, not for adults to work and live off of. Here comes your $20 happy meals.

    • @omi_god
      @omi_god Місяць тому +13

      The key word is "restaurants". Fast food businesses are not "restaurants".
      In a restaurant, workers are often paid minimum wage, since they collect tips which can total a living wage. [In some states, restaurants are actually allowed to pay workers much less than the minimum wage.]
      But there are other points to consider.
      Inflation, for one. Most Republican-led states keep their minimum wage pegged to the federal minimum, $7.25, which has not changed in 15 years, meanwhile inflation has eroded the value of the dollar. Cumulative inflation during this period has increased 44.6%.
      If we did nothing more than adjust for inflation, the minimum today would be $10.50.
      But the minimum was already too low to live on when it was established, and certainly doesn't reflect the actual cost of living.
      A fair wage in any community should reflect what it costs to survive in that community.

      Businesses in California have to pay higher taxes, and now they have to pay a minimum wage of $20/hr.
      Mom and pop stores will have to cut their work force, or cut the number of workers , to stay alive. Many of these businesses will have to go more into automation to stay in business.
      Many businesses will have to leave the mainland of America, and go to places such as South America to compete with China.
      Or they will have to hire more cheap labor, because as the wealthy Democrap party knows , liberal Americans in California don't want those jobs. It is a sure win for the ultra-wealthy Democrap party.

    • @doisenwadzinski6171
      @doisenwadzinski6171 Місяць тому +1

      This is a very ignorant statement. No one decides to make a career out of a minimum wage gig. I didn't. I wasn't handed the job's I wanted out of high school. I got stuck with medial labor whilst all my other classmates got the jobs they wanted and got away with stuff I couldn't. Just as our nation has politics and what seems like high school drama at times, so does a restaurant. I've been fired for calling in 1 day out of the entire 3 years I worked there being 2nd in charge of the store.
      Some people got fired from jobs they've worked at for years, you know the thing most good paying jobs look for. Or some people got stabbed in the back and got fired because they wanted your pay and title but didn't wanna work as hard.
      And there are those that have sought out higher income skills and are still stuck at minimum wage. Wake up! Just because you have a college degree or college experience doesn't make you all of a sudden employable, or change the fact that pay for productivity has been shrinking for the last several decades, so even if you are hired at your "higher income" position, you don't even make enough to put food on your table and pay back the knowledge you had to attain to make the person who own's the company you work for millions of dollars.
      It's not a war over how much we pay the people who make our lunches and dinners when we are too lazy to make our own, but the war is over the people who exploit fast food workers to make their millions whilst their workers can't even afford the gas they use to get to work.
      And "minimum" shouldn't be the absolute least amount you can give someone to survive. Someone should be able to live comfortably off of that money and not have to live without essentials you rich folk tend to overlook on a daily basis. Cause unless you pay for every type of insurance there is known to mankind, you're gonna end up with some bills.

      Also, not that I work for a fast food place, I challenge you to live off of what your local fast food chain pays in today's age. That money doesn't equate to much. You'd be lucky to have a few dollars left in your pocket after today's rental prices, or today's food prices. Whether or not you're only supposed to live off these wages in your teenage and early 20's, this money is nothing to survive on.
      And it's not just fast food. This wage increase should be across the board for all of America. Just because you own a business or have a degree, doesn't make you entitled to either money or a job. Nor does it make you better than your neighbor or the person who you treat like shit at a store because you had a bad day yourself.
      And just because you get paid for your craft doesn't make it any more valuable. I've spent 20 years doing something that I enjoy and could care less if I make a penny from as long as I can make someone happy or have someone stop to enjoy the music I play. This is why you should pay your low wage workers. Most of those low wage workers have other crafts or hobbies that the could spend their time on. Not giving some rich asshole his next golf vacation.

Businesses will either increase prices or layoff. I don't have to take your challenge because I learned to make better choices in life. I'm not responsible for poor people when I made smart decisions. Poor people are part of the problem because they exploited "rich assholes" out of necessity. Its their fault for making low wage as their career. If you don't like where you're at, then that's on you. You chose to work for a rich asshole and now you're complaining 😅

      @@DarthSidious. Some people don't know how to cook. And in many cities where people live in a shoe box apartment, are not allowed to cook.
      That's right, there are apartments where there are no stoves because the apartments are way to small, and as per the fire department can not have a kitchen.
      So people are left to eat at fast food locations where the food is pretty cheap.
      You can't put a blanket rule over everyone without knowing their situation. I know of an elderly lady that is on social security and EBT.
      She does not know how to cook. And most of the times she goes to KFC to buy chicken so she can try to eat healthy with chicken.
      I agree many fast food locations are not healthy at all, but we can all agree that chicken is healthy, and she goes to a Chinese food place
      once in a while too, which they also accept EBT. Again she does not know how to cook. And yes its shocking to know, but some people are like that.
      People are just trying to live their lives and stay alive the best way they can in the extremely short life they have on this planet.

    • @TwstedTV
      @TwstedTV Місяць тому

      I forgot to mention those who live in the streets and also don't have a place to cook. Their only option is fast foods.
      Because homeless people get EBT as well. They are still people and they can't just be left to die of starvation. Hence why they have EBT.
      Also just so you know...
      In 90% of the cases of EBT, you must have a job to get EBT. Its mandatory and part of their rules in order to receive EBT.
      So they pay taxes too.
      The ONLY people who is not regulated to have jobs when they receive EBT is the disabled, homeless and elderly people.
      You MUST show proof to the government that you have a job, before you are given an EBT. And the EBT is based on your employment income.
      Some EBT holders get $100 and some get the max of $220 a month maximum. It depends on how much you earn. And again, they also pay taxes.

    Here is the issue with this. Working at a fast food restaurant is not designed to raise a family on. These jobs are designed for high school and college kids to make a few extra bucks to learn some responsibility, build some credit, and maybe pay a car payment, other small Bill's. Somehow, (over the years), this has changed to the point where people are trying to use food service jobs to make a living on. It doesn't work. Better education, and better career choices equate into a better standard of living, not trying to force small franchise owners to pay larger wages for jobs that are designed for high school kids.

    This is a bit of government overreach. But California is such a mess there are bigger things to worry about. The wage will hurt many employees while helping others. Many will be without a job soon because the higher prices will lead to more automation. But at the same time prices are so expensive in California even 20 an hour feels like 2.38 in 1977 which was the minimum wage back then.

    Wages are 7.25 for FF, delivery driving is 6.00, and waiters 2.13. Most places added a dollar or 2 to stay competitive, McDonald's hires out at 10 just to keep people because this area has been critically short staffed at every business for 4 years. We need more workers too, at less desireable jobs. The unemployment rate has been very low, 1% at one point. Bucees, when it opens, will have the highest wages by long shot for all front-line managerial, HR, and service positions in our area. They have the pick of skilled applicants and can offer the pay at low end of salary range. There's ongoing land development for several hundred square miles surrounding WTAMU and international airport. Tons of land and I-40 runs through here. OKC, DFW, DEN, all 4- 5 hours away. Texas panhandle, if any businesses want to move.

    Many fast food companies said they will be forced to do mass layoffs once this goes into affect. Many will lose their jobs.
    Companies will be forced to automate their company. Many fast food places including McDonalds already have Kiosks and pretty soon there will only be 2 staff members
    and the rest will be automated. Also fast food places like Pizza Hut, KFC, McDonalds and others used to only be closed from 11:59-pm to 6:00-am.
    Now fast food places will be forced to be closed much earlier around 10-pm and open much later like 9-am, to save money.
    Look I am all for people earning more money and all, because food is overpriced and rent is through the roof.
    But knowing how these companies work, they will be drastic measures taken by these companies and customers are the ones that are going to get the short end of the stick.

    Most financial Experts will agree that a person working full time at a non-college degree job should be paying no more than 30% of their take-home pay towards housing and bills . That being said most people look at the economy wrong , inflation and cost of living are NOT the same thing . The Feds calculate Inflation by The Wholesale Prices of Commodities , if Inflation goes up by 5% that does not mean you will spend 5% more at retail , you will spend much more . When Inflation goes up what that means is The US Dollar is loosing it's value , when that happens EVERYTHING must go up including the cost of labor , but that doesn't happen in today"s economy . Look back at the late 1950s , a family with 2 children could have a nice home a car and afford 1-2 weeks vacation every year on 1 person's full time pay at a non-college degree job ( at the local factory or maybe the grocery store ) and that included a pension . Now a family with even just 1 child needs 2+ full-time jobs just to survive from month to month , forget about a pension and vacations , and some can't even afford a car . How did this happen ? Slowly . Back then most businesses were small and were owned locally by an individual or a family and hired locally , they knew the people working for them and wanted to keep them around . as time went on larger companies started buying smaller ones and soon they were big enough to sell Shares (Stocks ) and then they needed to show more profit year over year to keep their Stock Holders happy . To keep profits climbing they lobbied for new Labor Laws that allowed them to not pay benefits for part-time workers and got rid of things like Pensions , Inflation usually happens slowly and most people don't feel the effects but over time Wages don't grow as fast as cost of living and the balance of the economy goes slightly off . Over the last 16 years or so there have been 2 major down turns in the economy and Wages have not kept up . What this means is that Big Business wants The Middle Class and people At or Below Poverty Level to make up the difference in the economy so they can keep their profit margins moving upwards . By not bringing wages up at the same level as cost of living you are taking a pay cut in reality . THINK ABOUT IT ...
