I know right 18 McD and he said small business owner lol.
Also keeps referencing “overnight” as if he was blind sighted and didn’t have months of notice to find new efficiencies.

Menu prices will only go higher and unemployment is going to surge. Be careful what you wish for.
There's more.
- Part-time 20hrs. only
- Cutting Hours
- No Overtime
- Reduce Limited Benefits
- Massive Lay-offs
- Limits Employees 6-10 (per shift)
They just dug up their own grave.
Prices will rise only until a rapidly scalable technological solution becomes feasible, ie robots. Self-serve kiosks are only the beginning. Eventually, humans will only be needed to ensure the robots are maintained and in good working order.
Sure, you COULD charge $25 for a happy meal… you just won’t sell any of them.
Change the name to a Sad Meal.
higher prices to customers, reduced hours for employees (no more full time workers, maybe no more healthcare) and firings
So what? Buy groceries. Prepare your own meals. It's time for fast food to fade out anyway.
Exactly make our own food rather than subsidizing businesses that rely on serfs subsided by government.
Never eat fast food it’s gross. Only eat ice cream out side of my home Once or twice a year. I am a germ o phobe if I don’t cook it I don’t eat it.
What I do
It’s starting to make sense to store frozen meals in my vehicle and install a microwave
Big fast food is responsible for a majority of poor health in the US and greenhouse gases. Its time is up.
Has anyone ever thought that maybe demanding that housing/food prices go down????!!!!!
The plan is about control. If you keep the people dependent on you. You have less chance of uprising
Layoffs coming your way.
why do media interview owners and not the acutal miminum wage workers?
Now the prices are going to go up even higher and with the layoffs coming many people won't be eating out as much and many of them will be forced to go out of business, so the raise is not helping.
I'd rather work at a bookstore than at McDonald's or a gas station
Bookstores still a thing?
Nothing wrong with fast food
But to be honest its kinda hard to get hired at fastfood nowadays
unless you have connections
Once she asked him whats a fair minimum wage at one of his stores, his answer is the reason why the state stepped in again. "$18.Whatever" is pretty much minimum wage in San Francisco.
He understands that paying $20 minimum wage does not necessarily impact his business.
Flipping burgers was a job to get you through school, it was never meant to be a career. People should expect to pay higher prices and unemployment to go up. Remember you voted for this...

Not true all types of people been working at McDonald’s to provide for their family since it opened. What you mean it wasn’t?
Fipping burgers is a highly skilled job that requires years of training and experience and a six figure salary if you're a Democrat.
Fast food is an entry level job. Not a family of four. $20 an hour will do nothing in this state but bankrupt the little economy left. It’s getting to a point if your making less then $100,000 a year you’re now in poverty.
Funny it work fine in Denmark 23 $ but we also have healfcare and education and police over taxes and still one off the best country's for business over USA in meny years 😂
@@Tola5657 you didn’t have Gavin Newsom for a governor. He is out to destroy this state.

That is incorrect. The loophole is backdated.
Robotic automation will be the answer. Realistically, all you need is at least two operators to do coding corrections and oversee the daily operations.
You're right. It's still about 20-30 years away from coming in fully, but that's whats gonna happen.
And that’s means Chinese buffet got to pay $20 also oh yeah
16 stores with16 stores with 2 or 3 shifts per and 5-10 people a shift. then add 7 days a week and 30 days a month, its like 500,000+ easy is just the $4 an hour wage hike. No business owner will eat that cost, theres gonna be layoffs and schedule cuts. thats Millions more a year for him alone just in the $4 extra per hour
Exactly 💯, This may put many restaurants out of business.
If you want to be a minimal wage earner all your life that`s all you will be.
Fast food wasnt meant to be expensive and full time jobs
I used to agree with this statement but not anymore. If there's no other jobs that will hire you then what are people suposed to do? I've always worked in factories and warehouses but after job searching non stop for over a year I'm now working in a grocery store because they were the only place that would hire me. 95% of jobs that claim they are hiring don't even respond to you anymore. So would you rather these people work "low skill" jobs or live off of government assistance?
Add shop lifters and crime how can any business make there?
With fish. Lots and lots please
Here in Australia the minimum wage is $26ph, but no business pays that low. Fast food workers are usually on $35ph and they are very profitable. MacDonalds Australia makes more profit per employee than they do in the USA. Paying people properly creates a healthy business with happy employees and loyal customers.
How do Australians afford McDonalds prices? Here, they were the go-to food for the poor: that won’t be the case in the near future.
Are you complaining that the minimum wage is rising? Even if the minimum wage is $20 an hour, you barely can pay rent for a one-bedroom apartment. What about the rest of the money you have to pay to live in? Should he complain more about why housing, gas, food, and just about everything else have become so expensive to live in?
Fast food jobs were never meant to be a living wage. They were always meant for teenagers to gain work skills then move on to an actual career. Flipping burgers is not a career. If you're trying to live off of a fast food wage you are a loser, plain and simple.
The reason everything is so expensive is because whenever a Democrat takes office they inflate the size of government and start spending your tax dollars like drunken sailors thus inflation rises, gas prices food, rent etc etc this is why you never vote Democrat. But laughably it's people like yourself that keep voting them in then complain about the minimum wage. Hiking the minimum wage is just going to lead to mass layoffs, robots taking your job, and less hours
Minimum wage hurts everything you’re bitching about. I made better money when minimum wage was $3.25 an hour.

Californians never seem to understand that when you “tax the rich”, or “tax the greedy business owners”, YOU are going to pay that tax, not them. You’re going to pay much higher prices for your fast food, and you’re going to pay for the unemployment benefits of all those being fired.

having 18 McDonald’s restaurants considered a small business owner? 🤔

@@genxx2724 Good point. I agree. It's either going to resolve or make it worse by EVERYONE getting higher minimum wages.
Small business owner - 1-3 locations
Large business owner - 18 locations
Just wanted to clarify.
Assets minus liabilities equals the business value. They may not own a single bit of the property the restaurants are in. Everything may be rented including all the appliances. Also there may be multiple investors to pay to or owners to cut the profits with. 18 locations doesn't mean they are all free and clear and producing 100% profit,
just wanted to clarify.
@@UncleDavesKitchen No doubt, didn't say that, but if you are managing 18 locations, that's NOT A SMALL OPERATION.
Even before the minimum wage boost in CA, McDonald's is already too expensive to taste that cheap
To get around the $20 minimum wage just call your restaurant a hospital and hire nurses for $15 to do the jobs.
I might get a fast food order 4 times a year if I'm lucky and don't miss it
People are going to start eating healthy food now. Buying groceries and cooking. Thanks McDonald’s! 👏
Did this guy just say he paying 19 now so now he has pay 20 wow 1 dollar more
The good things is workeres are getting paid more already let the rich deal with their issues
Cut 70% of the number of staff in the fast food restaurant and the food will take so long that it is no longer considered "fast food"
You’re not supposed to make a “living wage” on a McDonald’s salary… those jobs are for high school/college kids and retirees…
If you’re still 35 and have an entry-level job at McDonald’s, with three kids, it’s YOUR fault and not the world’s.
coal mining was consider an entry level job back in the day so I could care less about that false narrative that McDonalds brainwash the people with that it a low paying job. It only became minimum wage known job because they stop raising their employee wages.

Restaurant owner crying wolf.
MacDonald is a 100 mile round trip
Say bye-bye to full time.
Why don't they fight this shyt???!!!!
I was with Scott until the end. At that point, he sort of put his foot in his mouth. If he has been paying his employees a minimum of $19 the whole time, then the $20 wage will not affect him much or at all. I don’t support minimum wage laws, but when they are increased, it should be increased by less than a dollar to avoid significantly increasing the rate of inflation or prices. What is a “fair” or “living” wage? No one can seem to define that other than saying “…a wage that a person can live on”. It is not possible to have a “fair” wage as a minimum wage across all jobs because not all jobs provide the same value of products or services. Should a welder have the same minimum wage as a fry cook? Of course not! I have no idea why Scott mentioned a national minimum wage versus a state minimum wage. This is not about the federal government…it’s about the state. If he believes it is the states’ right to impose minimum wage, then why is he complaining? That’s exactly what the state of California is doing; except everyone else gets $15 minimum wage. What Scott should have said was “The employer and the employee should negotiate a fair wage that doesn’t exceed the cost of producing the product that the employee is responsible for.” Based on his stores alone, he could have given a specific reasonable figure; but emphasize that may not be the case for other small franchisees. To be competitive for employees, he could then increase the minimum wage or simply give bonuses to attract talent. Since Scott owns over 12 restaurants, he is not going to feel the impact as someone who owns one.
I support their right to price themselves straight out of a job. What a dumb idea to demand $20 per hour for a low skilled teenage entry level position.
I would be perfect for working at a McDonalds as I've Never eaten a Big Mac in my life.
I suspect they will soon only be serving Small Macs from now on.
In the first 45 seconds of each hour they bring in the workers whole hours pay and hes crying. 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬
Sorry you can't afford those 20 vacations a year in a yacht
There’s going to be a mass layoff because of the wage increase, and going to AI to fill in the gaps. This means eliminating people at those jobs.
If you are a fast food business owner you should really look into suing the state of California for discriminatory acts and the little buddies that made the law because the simple fact is that law only affects you that is the definition of discriminatory and everybody else keeps getting paid off of that one thing
How can someone own that many restaurants wow
I don’t eat fast food, maybe once in 6 months. But this will make it once in a couple of years if ever. Why would I pay more for something that supposed kill me early? Fast food supposed to be cheap and fast.
This guy is too much!!
Great time to get away from that cancer food.
That's b.s. Retail employees don't get a wage increase? That isn't right.
Interesting news!
It’s simple on what is going to happen
When government mandates the minimum wage that individual business owners must pay, regardless of the owner's ability to pay those wages, why not also mandate what the price of the product? People don't grasp that by going half way into socialism pulls everyone eventually into economy destroying socialism.
To the people that don’t own businesses don’t care cause it’s not their money. The reason to start a business is to make money for yourself and if you can make jobs that’s good but the whole reason is to make money.
Looks like the FF category will get decimated in CA.

I’m sure if they raise prices people will still line up in the drive-through to eat that crap.
That’s until their credit card maxes out
We’re finished. It’s over. Enjoy the last of what we have. It’s gone this year.
Madness crazy
The extra money that he has to pay his employees is literally the whole ROY profit for the store. That means that he will have to raise the prices at least 25% in order to keep his employees and business going.
Democrats: "shut up! You just dont want everyone to be rich!"
Fast food workers should not be making that much money….fast food isn’t something one should make a career of it should be something you do as a teenager to get
Some pocket money and that’s it. If anything other jobs like car manufacturing which is dangerous and other dangerous jobs should be rewarded.
It is ridiculous to consider someone who owns 50+ franchise around the country and be considered a small business. Of course he’s gonna pay his worker 20 bucks an hour.
Minimum wage was 6.25 twenty four years ago and now it's at twenty dollars today which far exceeds the 24 years inflation by 77%. I'm sorry, but inflation is based on every facet of life which includes paying laborers to make food.
But to be fair, fast food joints can at least keep those who are eager to make that 20 buckaroos per hour versus slob high school drop out Wendy or Joel.
It’s a politics statement from one Franchise things are going autonomous he’s lying. He’s hiring robots they already in process.
