California Fast Food Chain Workers Will Earn $20 Per Hour

- With a new law taking effect in California on April 1, fast food workers in the state will have the highest base salary in the industry. Governor Gavin Newsom signed AB1228, or The Fast Act, in September. It bumps the minimum wage for fast food workers from $16 an hour to $20, but that only applies if that restaurant chain has 60 or more stores nationwide. Though small businesses do not have to raise their pay rates, some mom-and-pop restaurants are concerned about their employees leaving.
Fast food is no longer a cheap and quick alternative….
It's never was 😅 they tricked us it thinking it was.
@gabeperry4828 it was but times changed
@@gabeperry4828Fast food was always seen as that: FAST. FOOD! No where in this did people think it's supposed to be cheap. It's only supposed to be FAST FOOD.
No it’s really not. It’s cheaper to cook at home now.
Now its restaurant prices their burgers cost more then a taco from taco restaurants lmao
I remember when a $1 dollar used to be really strong. 😢
$ + dollar is redundant.

Worse because there will be fewer doing all the work now.
Hey maybe not anymore since there won't be workers, sadly this won't fix things being unaffordable, if everything is going up then it'll be in the same situation

This how lay offs and high prices start
It's started now 😅
Gavin's Agenda
And increase the prices on food
So you want the prices of the fast food to be cheap but for the people that work there not to be able to afford food ?that’s dumb getting less than $20 an hour. Nowadays is ridiculous. You would have to choose between rent and food you could not buy both DUH.

Yes, and then employers will lay them off and I’ll have half the workers they had before. Good luck California. Thanks, governor.
An increase in fast food workers salaries would increase job insecurity, owners will have less money to pay for a lot of workers. They would also increase the price on food to offset the employee wage. This increase isn’t necessarily a good thing.
More temporal inflation ahead...
Permanent effect unknown 😅
Maybe business should have proce control to prevent that
Nah people will be eating fast food less ... then bubble burst and price correction... remember competition Can also swoop in just to capitalize between those price gauze and value cost price somethre between that can get easy money made by price diffrent alone. A self-kiosk and a robot flipping burgers will come soon. Also, you'll get a discount if you place orders online and pick'em up from a kiosk.
I predict smaller, drive thru/carryout only stores. Eliminating the public restrooms and dining room can actually save a lot of money.

Fast food jobs was never meant to pay enough to support a family. If you want higher wage you have to learn a skill.
Yes if you want to a higher wage to support a family then you should probably go to the trades go be a welder a plumber HVAC
In Australia, i’s normal for a fast food worker especially one over 18 to make 20 bucks an hour. Especially now since the pandemic a lot of fast food places no longer hire teens as it’s become too unsafe for them
It should cause if it can't support a family how can it support schools and emergencies, teens where I work can't even pour the coffee, learning a skill isn't free
When getting into a trade, make sure you go the union route if possible, I made the mistake of going non-union and got paid poorly for the amount of work I was doing. An McDonald’s employee was making 2 dollars more an hour than me!
