I am considering upgrading my RTX 4060 8Gb and Ryzen 5 5600X 6 core, 16Gb DDR4 RAM, to the RTX 4070 Super 12Gb, Ryzen 7 7800X3D 8 core, 32Gb of DDR4. I mainly currently game at high to ultra at 1080p 60+ fps with 1440p DLSS and Frame generation, when available, with little to no problem. But playing Black Myth Wukong and Space Marine 2, though stable, has shown me that I don't have long left with my current build. I feel that for some more longevity out of my AM4 rig that upgrading to the 4070 Super and Ryzen 7 will give me 3 to possibly 4 more years at high to ultra 1080p, 1440p 60 or more fps until I have to invest in a full entire new AM5 system. Any thoughts?

Thanks Jason love the spreadsheet. Upgraded my trusty 980ti to a 4060ti 16gb that I got open box for $360. Which is a weird choice I know, but cuda was non negotiable and needed vram for other work as well 😊
Great vid, thanks so much! I'll be building something in the 2-2.5k range from scratch soon, maybe November-ish this year so porobably makes sense to be looking at black friday deals I suppose. But to be honest, I sort of feel like with my budget, perhaps it would be better to just hold off until the new gen gpus?
Intel ARC drivers aren't really taking 'weeks' to release any more, they come at a decent pace for newly released games, e.g. driver updates for Space Marines 2 and Black Myth Wukong came out pretty much instantly.
Yeah I have an A770 and it's been stable in every single game. The one time I had a visual glitch, I reported it to the driver team and the fixed it by the next full driver update. There's really not much to complain about anymore with them in most games.
Thank you for all your content. I have used your videos, along with others, to build 2 new computers for my family 2 years ago. This year I bit the bullet after months of waiting and left Nvidia and went to AMD 7900XT. So far it is a great decision for that budget. I got it on sale in July, though it didn't drop as far as I had hoped during Prime Day. So again, thank you! Next time I make another system, will definitely be coming back here for my research (and the links to where to get the windows keys).
I’ve built my pc in April 2023, but I still keep coming back here for the interesting content. I recommend you all the time Jason. Keep up the great work!
Yup, love my 6800. Thing has been a real bruiser. Plays 1440p games smooth as butter, and I've had it for years. Always pop in to see when a big 7900 xt or xtx price drop happens. Til then, I'm chillin.
Hi Jason, great video! Got a question for you. I am doing a full build and have started buying new parts. I already bought the 7800x3d and am looking for a GPU to pair with it for 1440P gaming for now but likely upgrading to 4K when GTA 6 comes out. I was going to buy the 4080 super, but this video has me thinking now should I not buy it? I currently have a 2080 and am in desperate need for an upgrade. Should I go "cheaper" and get something like the 7900xt and upgrade to 5000 series next year, or just go 4080 super, budget is not an issue except 4900.
I want to build a pc that I can use for PCVR, as far as I understand I should go with Nvidea. I have/had my eye on the 4070 super, but your arguments to get the RX 7900 GRE 16GB are rather compelling. Do you, or anybody else, have any suggestions on what I should do? Because I heard that PCVR really benefits from higher VRAM but if I should believe reddit AMD for PCVR is just a no go... thanks in advance!
I really appreciate the content. Will be building my first PC soon, just stuck on waiting or buying now. More curious if prices will drop on existing GPUs when new GPUs come out. Then curious what the 5080 has to offer as well as the 8000 series. Any future review of the 7600x3d???
Its funny how pricing goes, in Sweden right now you can buy a Tuf 7800XT cheaper than a Tuf 7700XT. And the cheapest Fighter 7900 GRE is priced below the Tuf 7800 XT. GPU madness. 😆
When I decided to replace my 13700K 4K gaming PC with a 7800X3D (and use my 13700K for other tasks), I started looking hard at GPU prices for the new build. I nearly pulled the trigger on 7900GRE a few times, though I probably would have bought a 4070 Super if it had 16GB of VRAM. But after three months of seeing GRE prices not fall significantly, I've decided to move the 7900XTX from my 13700K machine to my 7800X3D machine. So now I'm waiting for new releases to select a "production" GPU to match with the 13700K. I have an ARC A770 that can serve for now.
I was about to buy a 4060 but I saw that the RX 6650 XT had similar performance and I saw that the RX was very cheap so I decided to buy that one thanks for your great advice/video.
It's a tricky time for graphics cards, as we keep getting closer to new generations of cards being launched. Thumbs up for great videos to help people who need one right now!
Got the 7900GRE on one of your previous video recommendations and it’s been a great card. At the time it was only $50 more than the 7800XT which I bought initially and returned for the GRE. Thanks for your videos.

I recently got the Gigabyte 7800 xt along with the AMD 7800x3d, MSI Tomahawk mb and the Team Group T-CREATE EXPERT 32GB ram. I'm really happy with my purchase (performance is excellent) with one exception, it takes seemingly forever to boot. Any suggestions on a fix?
DDR5 still takes quite a bit longer to boot than DDR4 systems. Make sure you are on the latest bios update. You can also enable Memory Context Restore so it doesn't retrain the RAM each time. If your system is unstable after that you may need to turn it off. Also run a RAM stress test like TestMem5 or MemTest86 to see if your RAM might be the issue.
@PCBuilderChannel Thank you sir. Context restore seems to have done the trick. This is my first sojourn with an MSI board (was an Asus fan until recently) and am really liking what I'm seeing so far.

The A750 8GB at $179? Damn, it's $265 (after tax) where I live - at the absolute lowest, grey-market import price, not even retail stores. The 7600 8GB is $268, for reference. The A580 crept up to $210...
Dear Jason "PC Builder", thank you for the excellent presentation and recommendations about GPUs! Your lists and figures are influential which can turn our difficult decisions into easy and satisfactory. 🙏
Thinking of getting an A770 16GB and as you mentioned day 1 drivers is not a big issue for me. I saw somewhere A770 had a huge performance bump with an driver update so i think there is some more hidden potential to it rather than getting an generation old 6700 or 6750 for this budget what do you think ?
Hey I have an A770 16GB (Asrock's 3-fan version) and it's great! I've had very few bugs with it since when I bought it back in January and it's perfect at 1440p in games. Also a beast at video recording, streaming, and editing, as well as being pretty decent in Blender, so I'd definitely recommend it for whatever you plan on using it for.
As a 7900xtx owner for high end I'd pretty much only recommend the 7900XT for raster and the 4070ti super for RT enthusiasts for some decent value. Maybe 4090 prices will go down when the 5090 is out and instantly out of stock and sold for 3500 bucks shortly after..but the 4090 has kind of old hardware and ports in it and there is still this highly questionable power connector. Id probably wait for the 5080 if I was to buy a new high end card for mostly gaming purposes and RT. In the lower midrange the 6700XT/6750XT remain the value kings, grab those while u can! The 6700XT is a very nice capable card for its price (I owned one). 145 watts max load undervolted+OC for a nice 1440p gaming experience.
Both the 7900 XT and the 4070 Ti Super perform about the same in rasterized scenarios, the difference is so small that it's not perceivable. The 4070 Ti Super is objectively the better GPU since it also comes with superior Ray Tracing, playable Path Tracing, better Power Efficiency and other things like CUDA and better Streaming/VR support. The 7900 XT only makes sense when you're on a tight budget and the 4070 Ti Super is beyond it.
Hi, for 1440p is it better to get the 4070super around $689 for a galax variant VS 7900 GRE which costs $737 (cheapest) in my country. I'm also in a tight budget.
What would be more worth the money a Msi xs ventus 1660 super for €90-€100? Or a asus strix 1070ti for €130-€150? I’m pairing it with a i5-8 gen or a Xeon e5-1620.
What would be the life expectancy of the 4070 Super be in the future? Im on a 3070 and am already cooked by recent games' requirements. Monster Hunter Wilds needs it for 1080p 60fps medium when its meant to be a 1440p card... same with Silent Hill 2... I just want a decently priced GPU that will last this gen and next gen at 1440p high-max ish 60-120fps at least. Considering getting a 7800XT now or waiting for the next gen equivalent
Would be NICE to have a list of GPUs NOT by price, but by POWER Consumption. I have a PC with a special PSU, that can accept any voltage from 12 V to 48V, and it can Provide a maximum of 400W system wide. The system is running as it is, but I'd like to install the best possible GPU in this system, while obviously remain under max power...
I am looking for suggestions on which GPU to buy for my i5 9600k 3.7GHz. Currently I have a GTX 1060 6GB, 32 GB of ram and I play 1080p. I'd love to buy a gpu that wouldn't bottleneck my CPU to hard at the moment and that I could still use after I buy a newer CPU down the road, I don't mind gaming on 1080p but having a 1440p option would be nice for down the road. Also I do tend to favour Nvidia since I had better experiance with them in my pc journey even thought they mignt not perform as well compared AMD in some cases... Cheers!
My current build with a 5600X and a 3060ti GPU draws a max of 385 watts from my 650 watt power supply. Do you think I can upgrade to a 4070 Ti Super without upgrading my power supply? Thanks
If you’re going budget then go AMD if you want the high end stuff I always recommend NVIDIA. With NVIDIA it feels like every other card is an after thought or a chore. And with AMD it seems like they focus on consistency over their budget cards that their high end stuff seems to miss out slightly.
Strange you say that, cause on the online PC store i usually buy my things cause it has cheapier prices, none of those you showed as under 400 are all above that price, do you mean the price is going to drop soon? cause i'm kinda interested on a RX 7700 XT 12GB🤔
Hey Jason! A few days ago I commented on what the best “super build” would be at the moment, and I ended up pulling the trigger on a 4090 + R7 7800X3D. I am now seeking advice on which monitor to pair to up with? I am mainly a competitive gamer who plays first person shooters, would this set up be powerful enough to run these games at 4K? Or should I get a super high refresh rate 1440p? Again, thankfully there is no budget. Thank you!
@@kelley09162 Thank you for the reply! That is one of the monitors I was looking at, I just was unsure if 4K would be better than 2K (obviously visually it is, but you know what I mean). I’ll keep an eye out on deals for 4K monitors!
@@orlandoramirez6977 yes for a 4090 you should definitely be going 4K. The MSI Monitor is currently the cheapest 240hz 4K Monitor out there. You don't have to go 240hz but if you want to the MSI is the way to go.

@@dinkin_flicka14 I'm in the exaxt situation as you 😂. I have a potato laptop for 10 years and I will taste the rx 7800xt soon. can't wait to try this card along with R5 7600x
Still enjoying the RX 7900 XT in a rig purchased last October based on your value recommendation and some FPS testing across the games I play including CoD Warzone and F1 Manager.
Just got the 7800xt with a amd 7700x. 850w!
Thanks Jason love the spreadsheet. Upgraded my trusty 980ti to a 4060ti 16gb that I got open box for $360. Which is a weird choice I know, but cuda was non negotiable and needed vram for other work as well 😊
Thank you! Glad you got what you needed
With the chaos of Intel at the moment I’m still not 100 percent confident that will continue to be the case, but I am cautiously optimistic!
Just in time!! Thanks so much for listening to feedback : D
I hope you like the new format!
Love to hear that, congratulations on your builds! And thanks so much for watching :)
Please tell me I'm not the only one that saw WALL-E on the right side of the thumbnail.
OMG now I do!
Thanks for the your advice on buying that AMD 7 7800 its now a whopping $419 I got a coupon from amazon and only paid $333.52 plus tax back in Aug!
I’ve built my pc in April 2023, but I still keep coming back here for the interesting content. I recommend you all the time Jason. Keep up the great work!
Thanks so much for the recs! Love to hear it, and thanks for coming back again and again :))
Yup, love my 6800. Thing has been a real bruiser. Plays 1440p games smooth as butter, and I've had it for years. Always pop in to see when a big 7900 xt or xtx price drop happens. Til then, I'm chillin.
I managed to get a XTX QICK RX6750XT for 439 CAD (325USD) As they came back in stock just this week. Lowest price I've seen in Canada.
Congrats on the upgrade!
I got a full new build for £1800 with a 4090 on ebay. The guy won it in a competition at work, lucked out
Hi Jason, great video!

So glad I snagged a 6800 when I did. Solid 1440p performance at 144hz on everything I play. Insane value!
I have an ARC A770 that can serve for now.
great quality content and you very friendly and simple! Compliments from Italy!
So glad that you are enjoying our channel! Thanks so much from the States :))
Notification for new video from PC Builder, yep today is gonna be a good day 🙂↕️
You know it!
I followed for years, congratulations on being better and better!
Thank you!
I was about to buy a 4060 but I saw that the RX 6650 XT had similar performance and I saw that the RX was very cheap so I decided to buy that one thanks for your great advice/video.
Thanks again for another great video and insight.
Glad you enjoyed it!
It's a tricky time for graphics cards, as we keep getting closer to new generations of cards being launched. Thumbs up for great videos to help people who need one right now!
Thanks for watching!
Thanks a lot for your accurate and precise comparisons of so many GPU"s dear PC Builder, that helped me so much. I"m addicted to your channel ❤🧡💛💚💙.
what would be a good pair with the ryzen 9 3900x.i was thinking of 6800 non xt cause its in stock rn (budget around 350$ for gpu)
Got the 7900GRE on one of your previous video recommendations and it’s been a great card. At the time it was only $50 more than the 7800XT which I bought initially and returned for the GRE. Thanks for your videos.
Nice! So glad we could help
Great video 😊
Thank you very much! And thanks for the continuing support :))
I pulled the trigger last week in England on an MSi RTX 4070 VENTUS 2X OC, it is my price range at £469. I upgraded from the RTX 3060 because I wanted a bit more grunt, and I don't game I just do a lot of multi threaded stuff.
Here in Australia you could’ve bought a 4070 super and have 25 pounds to spare, local prices can be a true ass

Picked up a RX 6800 for 360$ few months ago. Great price
Nice!
They have the RX 6800 for sale for the same price not the XT version in my area. Is it just as good?
@@PhilUpOnYa I recently picked up the 6800. Awesome card for 1440p and some 4K gaming. Really impressed with it. Have it paired with a 5600x and DDR4 ram. Chews through everything I’ve played so far

Did PC Builder retire the price/frame rate value comparison?
I just got a 4090 paired with my 7800x3d. 5090? Maybe if the new 9800x3d performs well? Got a 1k PS which should be enough but the connector/connectors might be different?

In the thumbnail you look like your going to crush my head with 2 gpus, amazing
That's more aggressive than I was going for (;
I'm going to get 2 m.2 on cyber Monday black Friday or Amazon prime day to advance my builds to the next level
i'm starting to build my first pc and i don't know if i should pick the 4070 ti super where i live the card cost 900€, should i wait or no ? ( the budget of the congig is 2K )
I’m m also in a similar situation. If you wait your options would be limited to high end for nvidia and even then you would need to be very quick to get your hands on it with scalpers and all.
Omg, Jason. I just bought a 2080ti watercooled with a kraken mod that had a 240 rad attached. Runs like a dream... heres the best part.. im in california... it was $180. Omfg.. i couldnt resist. I bought it for my son. He loves it.
Congrats on the purchase! Glad that worked out! :)

i put my eyes on the 7800 xt , its only 595 dollars here in romania
JASONNNNN i just got am ad that the Lg Oled monitors went down and i just checked and it wasn’t just on the Lg page but amazon also discounted it 15% off the 32” Oled with the 480 hz feature, my question is Do you think there would even be a better deal jn black friday cause i have it rn in my cart and i can even apply my employee doscount for amazon, it takes off 86 plus dollars
Powercolor just drop the RX 7700 XT 12GB plus free game for $370 just as still some RX 6800 16GB on Newegg & Amazon, so I'm guessing now is good time to chose the 7700 XT instead right?
I love my 7900xt. Got it for 580.
What would be a good gpu to pair with a ryzen 7 7700x? Good enough for 1440p?
Plz never stop with the gifs lol
is it raster? watabout with dlss rt and fg on ?
In australia both the 6800xt and 7700xt are almost $100+ more expensive than the 4060Ti, so is it worth just getting the 4060ti?
The A750 8GB at $179? Damn, it's $265 (after tax) where I live - at the absolute lowest, grey-market import price, not even retail stores.
The 7600 8GB is $268, for reference.
The A580 crept up to $210...
Oof!
Dear Jason "PC Builder",
thank you for the excellent presentation and recommendations about GPUs!
Your lists and figures are influential which can turn our difficult decisions into easy and satisfactory. 🙏
Glad to hear you found it helpful! And thank you for tuning in.
I am a lot more confident recommending them now but the 6700 6750 is obviously better if you want to ensure no day one issues

Yes though Jason prefers a 7900GRE with a 7800X3D if you can afford it.
@@kelley09162 thx
Damn i have the exact same build and I haven't had any issues but like the above guy said, if you can afford 7900 GRE then go for GRE
I will continue to hold the line for the next generation thanks pc builder!
Thanks for watching!
Would be good to see lowest historical sale price in addition to the month to month pricing. Thanks for making these videos 🫡
Thanks for that idea! Maybe I'll put that in instead of the second previous month.
The VRAM is the only issues with future proofing (just like the 3070) If you are concerned about it I would go 7800XT
Wow I just started looking into buying a pc great timing!!
Love that! Welcome :))
Got a old Gtx 1060 3GB and want to Upgrade to a better one. Got the am ryzen 5 2600X six core.. ist the RX7700 XT a good fit ?
That would be an imbalance but if you eventually plan to upgrade your CPU to the 5600 or 5700X3D that's fine.
Hey Jason,
What components would make a great Ultra Gaming/streaming PC that would take advantage of my monitors 240hz
thank you :)
Depends on what your budget is and is your Monitor 240hz 1080p, 1440p, or 4K?
Cheers!
did the rx 7700 xt go up in price? i can seem to find a listing on ebay for under 400
My current build with a 5600X and a 3060ti GPU draws a max of 385 watts from my 650 watt power supply. Do you think I can upgrade to a 4070 Ti Super without upgrading my power supply? Thanks
This is great, thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks so much for watching!
If you’re going budget then go AMD if you want the high end stuff I always recommend NVIDIA. With NVIDIA it feels like every other card is an after thought or a chore. And with AMD it seems like they focus on consistency over their budget cards that their high end stuff seems to miss out slightly.
Strange you say that, cause on the online PC store i usually buy my things cause it has cheapier prices, none of those you showed as under 400 are all above that price, do you mean the price is going to drop soon? cause i'm kinda interested on a RX 7700 XT 12GB🤔
should i upgrade my 3060ti or wait for next gen cards? I want to play 1440p 60fps+ and best looking settings.

Thank you!
You should definitely go 4K. If you want the best there's the MSI MPG 321URX QD-OLED for $950, but you can find good 4K Monitors for around $400.
@@kelley09162 Thank you for the reply! That is one of the monitors I was looking at, I just was unsure if 4K would be better than 2K (obviously visually it is, but you know what I mean). I’ll keep an eye out on deals for 4K monitors!
