I'm running i7 3770 and GTX 1660 OC 6gb. Still running but it's getting a lot harder on AAA games after 2020. F1 2023 running ~50-70 FPS (HIGH) but Jedi Survivor at 20-40 (ULTRA LOW). Some suggestions for around 100 FPS on 1080p 60HZ?

I'd be much more interested to see a column (or 2, 3...) of price evolution. In January prices have actually gone up across the board, no? This GPU market is still beyond absurd. Absolutely ZERO progress whatsoever.
(6800xt@$500 has been the benchmark since BF2022. It's been 1y+ and the 7800xt (roughly the same performance) sells at the same price. Practically, 0 improvement.
6700xt should be comfortably below 300, but it ain't. Been selling for 320-350 for 1y+, too. Dafuq!
Nvidia is a joke across the lineup.)
A used 6800 seems to me as one of the very, very few decent deals ATM.

@@martinmilchakov6179 The 2060 Super might put you over the top in F1 2023 but I don't believe you'll even get close in Jedi Survivor. The 3770 is probably going to bottleneck anything better than your 1660. If your motherboard can handle the 4th Gen i7s (4770 or 4790) that would help because of the improved instructions per cycle. If you have a Z97 motherboard you could even go with the unlocked 4770K/4790K versions (along with faster RAM), but I'm not sure if any Z87 boards can take the 4790K. Even then more modern GPUs won't be fully utilized. Best of luck!

The last 8GB cards I bought were a 5700XT and a 2070 Super, both new. The current minimum for a GPU priced over $250 should be 12GB. Over $400, 16GB. A card that's priced over $1000 should have 24GB, sing your favorite songs, and make lunch.

The only sad thing is the prices, which are realistic within US borders.
Outside US we all pay a hefty premium which aint even worth it to be honest.
Where i live most prices are about +200usd more that it is for anyone within the US.
Which makes these prices unrealistic for most of us.

I was just looking at the available 4080 Supers - not a one at NE or Amazon, and the available 4080's are well into the $1200++ range.
Even the 7900 XT's and XTX's are facing some availability issues it seems while prices seem to be ticking up. Finding a white card is even more difficult in both availability and affordability. Best I can do is at NE for a white 7900 XTX Power Color Hellhound for $1K, and an ASRock Phantom white 7900XT for ~$750.00. That's quite a price difference for the added memory and some extra speed.
    The market is just crazy.

I'm just starting to learn about these modern video cards having been a console player for the longest time, one common theme I keep seeing on these reviews is, "if I save a little more money..." so you end up never buying a video card. Or you end up chasing video cards down a rabbit hole, starting at $250, then for $50 more you can get something better, but for $70 more you can get this even better card, then next thing you know, you're looking at $900 cards when you were looking at $250 cards from the start.
I'm a big fan of used and open box components. Last week I pulled the trigger on a Gigabyte RTX 4060 Ti 16GB OC, open box from Best Buy for $415. It's my first high performance card, at least to to me. I'm starting on an old XEON workstation build with an E5 or dual E5 V4s and 64 GB of DDR4 ECC memory that is dirt cheap. It's going to be a learning experience where I'll eventually move to a modern CPU and hopefully, taking this video card with me, or at least being able to recoup a decent amount toward the next card.

My rtx 3080 plays Cyberpunk2077 with my 10th gen i7-10700k perfectly. The only time i had issues was when my cpu's aio pump went out. But once i got my new aio (and a better case as my INWIN 303 wasnt idea for 360 radiator mounting was limited in the 303 to a side frame in the case where my psu blocked 25% of the radiator) my new case which allowed top and front mounted radiator mounts give way more options. I mounted it up top and used the front part of my case for 3x 120mm fans. With a nice 140mm exhaust fan kept my cpu under 30c to 39c at idle and when playing Cyberpunk2077 it went up to 67 to 77c. In the INWIN 303 my temps would be 57c at idle and 90c at load.. im just thankful my msi z590 ace gold edition gave me a (cpu temp is high) warning. This persisted until i figured out the aio pump went out on my MSI 360 aio.

So its not like even the cheapest options wouldnt be a massive upgrade for me. Gpu still going strong but definately can tell some games are a bit scuffed looking. Still can run new titles like the newest ratchet and clank game with not a lot of issues. Did get the occasional lag or frame drop so its probably a good sign I need to look for an upgrade. But apart from new games, performance is still pretty good and obviously if you have no desire to play new games the 1070 ti will do the job.

I think it's important to discuss VRAM in more detail than simply "more is better". For example, for the 40 series GPU's Nvidia significantly increased the L2 cache on their cards, which significantly improves performance because the latency to access cache versus VRAM is much lower. By doing that they reduced the requirement for higher VRAM. There are other important considerations such as memory bus width as well that need to be looked at. And then there is what tools report as VRAM usage ... in most cases a game will allocate VRAM based on how much you have just in case it needs it, but just because it is holding the VRAM doesn't mean it will actually use it. So this is why it's important to actually look at the benchmarks and see which card performs better. The 4070 Super is a great card that beats the 7800 XT in most games ... for gaming efficiency (FPS/$) they are essentially tied, given the lower price of the 7800 XT, so both cards are great options. But you shouldn't simply buy the card with the higher VRAM ... that is not a good way to justify a purchase in my opinion.

      @blackbirdpctech 3 місяці тому +1

@@aylim3088I am good with that because it’s based on actual performance data. It also explains why Nvidia added a version with 16GB because they were hoping people will buy the larger number without looking at the performance.

What you say is probably right. But this video meant to give an average perspective on the cards relative peformance, sourced from bencmarks on various games regardless of how much VRAM they allocate. This is something the indivdual has to consider and look at specific game bechmarks, to determin what is needed on their gaming level.
"More VRAM" is better in the sence of the video's goal, which is to secure a stable framrate and detail level on higher resolutions. Of course 16 GB is not needed on 1080p in most games, but given that a lot of recent AAA titles have shown more VRAM usage (EVEN in 1080p - as mentioned in the video), I could imagine some might consider the buffer in case of a further increase in game VRAM recuirements or monitor upgrade. The 7800 XT might be a better deal to some, because of that VRAM leap, over the 4070 super or even the 3080 12GB which is cheaper and has the same level of average peformance.

Question, in COD MW3 the in game settings Vram max is 8gb. I have a 4090 with 24 gb Vram and a 4k monitor. How do I get the game to use more Vram? Should I increase it in the config file to 1.5 or 2 times the ingame max of 8 gb to utilize more Vram or is the game hard coded to only use 8 gb of Vram.

I've been anticipating the limitations with the 10gb buffer on my 3080 FTW3 but it keeps chugging through modern titles on a 1440 ultra wide without breaking a sweat, like it has since day one. I'm sure it'll catch up eventually but I'm hoping for a couple more years at least. Maybe EVGA will be back in the GPU game by then.

You have 4070 ti super listed for 4k, would it be severely overkill to buy one for 1440p gaming if you just want to spend some extra to possible extend its lifetime before it's needed to be replaced? the price dif isn't that big here in sweden.

I own a 4070TI (basically a few percent weaker than the TI super) and 4080S. The TI kills 1440p (well I play 3440x1440p) with no issues at all. Alan Wake 2, the last of us, Avatar etc all ran very well. It's a 1440p card, not a 4k card, so yeah, it's going to work great :)

    Hi Jason!
In 3D modelling and rendering and high fps 1440p gaming, should the GPU be prioritized more than the CPU? Depending on your answer, which is a better combo?
    Ryzen 9 7900 & RTX 4070 Ti Super

So I'm upgrading from a 1070 FTW. I have a 1440p monitor (Gigabyte G27Q) and while I probably won't stream, this system upgrade is something I want to hold me over for the next 5 years (as it, itself, has lasted about 5 years) until I'll eventually jump to AM5 and DDR5 with a whole new system in the late 2020s or 2030. As such, I'm going from an R5 2600 to an R5 5600, doubling my ram to 32gb, but IDK what GPU to pick. 7600xt 16gb, save more and get the 7800xt 16gb, go with one of the 6000 series cards at 12gb, or a 7700xt at 12gb.
Or should I wait for 8000 series?
