I personally like a few specific Porsches, like the Panzerjäger VI Tiger (p) Elefant and the Panzerkampfwagen VIII Maus
Oh my god xD
Lmao
Excellent taste
The real classics 👌
The more rare ones are a bit cooler tho, like the VK.30.01 (p) or the VK.45.01 Tiger (p) or the non upgraded version of the Elefant (non Turbo/ non Carrera ?): the Panzerjäger Tiger (p) Ferdinand
2:55 "lack of maintenance and understanding the machine"
Sounds like a rotary owner.
Infernuz lol
Yeap hahah
Well a Wankel engine is an German engine lmao.
It's true with almost all high performance cars.
Right on the button.
My buddies brother called me a while back and asked for advice on a new car. His guns were set on a rotary with 150000 km and no rebuild. Car was 5 grand.
I told him over the phone I would bet any money the engine has lost compression.
Anyhow he clearly listened to me because he bought it (sarcasm). Then calls me about a check engine light 3 days later.
I took it out for a drive and it was a total dog, misfiring at idle etc. lmao, I didn't even know what to say. He ended up paying mazda 3 grand for a new engine. Just stupid honestly.
YES - more shop interviews PLEASE! Why... b/c many shop owners are the MOST committed and knowledgeable automotive enthusiasts for their respective niche! Cheers! 🤙🤙
SubaruONLY garbage overrated cars
Cause it's Porsche
They legit did everything wrong with their cars( rear engined, Sporty SUVs, making a dailyable sports car at a time that wasn't really possible) and yet made it SO right
who the hell doesn't love Porsche?
Yeshwant Dasari I don 't love Porsche...
Agree with everything, except BMW put the sports in SUV first.
Love Porsche ...saving for my first and hopefully not my last
@@charleschenhua but the supercharged cayenne whips any beamer
Somebody has to say something: for whom are rear engine cars "wrong"? It is a stupid thing, what Jeremy Clarkson from Top Gear (before) popularized.
The rear engine layout is not wrong! The thing is, it makes the car only "edgier"!
There are advantages to other cars, which let Porsche win a lot of races: the weight is all over the rear-axle. That means, there is mostly enough grip to accelerate!
The disadvantage is, that it is not as easy predictable to drive (especially earlier models) as your front engine car. However to say, that a rear-engine car is "wrong" would be the same as saying, that a rear-wheel car is wrong (because mostly a front-wheel car is far saver for most people to drive in most situation).
Car guys in 2008: Meh, air-cooleds are just crude souped-up VWs with the engine in the wrong place and bad A/C. No thanks.
Cary guys since 2014: Air-cooleds are legendary icons representing visceral purity and soul. BUY BUY BUY BUY
Probably all the UA-cam car channels started this broom of various car cultures
LifeSizePotato Oi LifeSize, are there any new videos of you coming up?
I actually prefer air-cooled 911 instead of the water-cooled ones. I in fact like that bulky shape of the 993 and in fact I prefer that GT2 than the 997 and 991 variant.
The 997.2 GT3 RS is a very nice car as well
by a car guys on the 2014 till present you mean hipsters?
Heritage, looks, handling, reliability, speed
Reliability? AHHAHAHAHAHA NICE ONE
no they arent, not even close to toyota
R A F A that's not saying much... Toyota isn't in the performance cars anymore, Porsche is. And they ARE reliable, handle like a charm, and hella fast.
R A F A bringing up Japanese cars in a conversation about reliability that has nothing to do with them says a lot about your intelligence.
Chicken Feed babe You dont learn much stuff about cars from games. That says it all.
4 reasons:
1. A Beetle on steroids
2. Almost every race Porsche joins they'll always win
3. Sexy styling queue that never gets old
4. Fanbois are sometimes you know?
This in 4 reasons why i hate porshe
The design isn't sext its old.

Porsche's lines are easy to remember and their history are full of great recipes.
1948 - Porsche 356. 1st shape that would become the 911 later on
1964 - Porsche 901. The prototype of the upcoming 911
1964 - Porsche 911. The spawn of all modern 911
1973 - Porsche 911 Carrera RS. Peak of the 911 craze and one of the best air cooled N/A collectible.
1974 - Porsche 930. The spawn of the Porsche Turbo. Aka the "Widowmaker" due to the pendullum effect.
1989 - Facelifted version of the 930. Nothing much has changed.
1994 - Porsche 993. Last air-cooled 911. Spawned the infamous GT2.
1997 - Porsche 996. 1st water-cooled Porsche. Spawned the now famous GT3. Aka "Egg-eyes" due to the headlight looking like an sunny side-up egg. Introduces PDK and CCB.
2005 - Porsche 997. Updated version of the 996. Gone with the egg shape headlights and back to round. Saw the birth of the GT3 and 2 RS and the new 4.0L flat-6 engine.
2012 - Porsche 991. New 911 that uses electronic assisted steering booster. Saw the birth of the legendary 911R
2015 - Porsche 911.2. An updated of the 991 line where turbos will be added to the base Carrera. Different from normal Turbo variant which are 4L, 991.2 Carrera will be 3L and GT3 & 3RS are all still 4L N/A flat-6.
That's the most condensed history for all different generations of 911 I can give. I did miss out some important ones like the Targa and such but that would be massively complicated to add in so as much as I can condense into an "Porsche 911 For Dummies" guide, this will be it.
Jun Kitami Still pretty complicated.
Can't help it when that's how the 911 line really works. If you want an even more comprehensive ones like 944, 928, 924, ALL THOSE RACING PORSCHE, 918, Carrera GT, 914 and such, we're gonna have a long day.
Jun Kitami Guess I'll just have to consult me ol' friend wikipedia.
You forgot the speedster and the 2012 911 GT3 RS 4.0, and GT2 Rs
As long as you mentioned the "930" and Widowmaker nickname I'm satisfied. My favorite model of the 911 variants personally.
Squeezing the most out of something that shouldn't be doing that. Is one of the most eye watering sentences I've heard in a while. So much meaning behind it
I love porsche is because of its Targa top and That legendary Air cooled Flat-six engine!!
The Targa is fcking sick!! Beautiful car
1.theyre easy to reckonize
2.theyre fun
3.they have timeless design
*recognize
My first love was Ferrari. However, when looking at history to the present day, Porsche, overall, has become my first love. Their racing heritage, the constant onslaught
rivalry they've had with McLaren, Mercedes Benz, Ferrari, and so forth is nothing short of legendary. The driving oriented cars they've released with their GT-2 and GT-3
cars is nothing short of spectacular. Ferrari and Lamborghinis are the cars you like for their looks. Once you've matured, Porsche becomes the sophisticated tasted that you learn to appreciate.
Agree 100%.
💯
I am so sick and tired of hearing about people and their stupid "investment" when it comes to cars. I don't care that I've put $5,000 into a $1,600 car, I love it and I want it to run forever and stay in my hands forever! I ain't selling this thing! What's the "investment"?!?!
"investment" is a term that restoration mechanics like this guy in the video invented to over charge for a regular job. They tell the customer you are investing 5 k into a pile that is worth 2k, but is ok because is an "investment" ... just sales words.
Pouring a 100K into a Nissan 240SX isnt a investment , its a loss cost
Putting a heap of money into a car you love to keep it running is never a lost cause as long as it's not a frequently repeated repair. If you're putting a new trans in the thing every 30k miles then maybe you should consider driving something else. But regular wear and tear that naturally increases as the car ages, nah, if you love it, take care of it.
Well said brother
If it was LS swapped , it will run forever , most japanese engines dont last very long
Porsche is like that one athlete in the NFL that’s so good that you get tired of praising. Because you know they’ll produce every season.
Classic Porsches still look mighty great years later.
I’d love one, specifically a 911S but they’re probably going to be über-expensive by the time I finally get the time to enjoy driving
Vintage 911S can go as low as 50K , i wont call it expensive
Save up and go for an 80s sc, you can find them in and around 30-50k and with, granted, alot of work, they will last forever (that work is a problem with the engine that of which I cannot remember the exact name of however I know that it can cause your engine to need a complete tear down Fitment Industries did a video on aircooled 911s and they mentioned it there), that said, if you want the truest 911 experience possible that won't kill your wallet so long as you do preventative maintenance and buy one with a good service history there probably nothing better than the 80s sc.
There is no particular virtue in an air-cooled engine. What is being sold here is romance, which is perfectly fine if you're buying. "Enthusiasts" arbitrarily select the parts of automotive technological advancement they wish to subscribe to, then invent stories to rationalize their preferences. I've never seen a comment on UA-cam or car site forums/comments calling for bringing back the manual starter crank because it's a "more authentic motoring experience." LOL. Fuel injection is 100,000% better than a carburetor.
If I buy an older car, I'll mostly embrace the technology it was fitted with at the time of its manufacture. If I'm buying a new car, i want it water-cooled, hermetically sealed, automatic transmission, power-everything. I love cars, and I can appreciate every point in the range. Enjoy what you drive-drive what you enjoy-and don't let anyone make you feel "unwashed" because you don't venerate the same things.
Ahh, this comment was like a bucket of ice cold water to the face
But I agree
Porsche to me is a marque that once you get bitten you really fall in love with their cars, until that happens you might not "get" what is so special. They have such a rich history and also prove their worth on the race track, its a rare combination. While they branched out to other vehicle concepts to stay economically viable they are always about their sports cars/racing in the end.
One of the first "cool cars" I can ever remember my dad telling me about was a porsche 911 in british racing green that shot apst us when we were driving home one afternoon. I was like 4 years old and 21 years later I'm still in love
This was probably my favorite wheelhouse episode yet, definitely more episodes like this! Keep up the great work I love the channel!
Recently purchased a porsche 944 and live it! Would like to get an air cooled 911 some day! Very true about no such thing as a cheap porsche. Purchased my 944 and had the transmission go out 20 mins after buying it... 7k later she is pretty solid now. Its the price you pay though to drive around in a vintage Porsche and I love it.
The 911 is the best sports car ever.
not the best but the most complete, definately...
Thomás Carlotto No.
not even close lmao
There is no best sports car ever. Case closed.
Never ever repeat what you just said in Arabic inside an Airplane. You don't want to know what happens next
I just recently bought a 1985 Porsche 944 and I love the car so much, it’s taught me so much about older cars and about Porsche’s with how amazingly detailed these cars are and how much attention to detail Porsche puts into their vehicles
Keep these videos coming. I actually enjoy talking to these super knowledgeable enthusiasts almost as much as I enjoy driving.
I worked at a shop that did tuning on these back in the day... Simple, light, fast and subtle design changes from model year to model year made for a fast, simple and mechanically optimized ride. They were a blast to drive and the driver did ALL the driving. I was too young to afford one then and not successful enough to afford one now. A shame for me but congrats to those that still have one. Keep ‘em on the road!
Up to speed on holden plz

Nolan can you go 2 Dinan for some BMW love
Mike Arredondo yes please do american people also have mosselman? thats also a bmw thing
I've always wondered about BMW. Never owned one, only drove an old 325 once. I remember it feeling fun to drive, like I could feel the road. But I've never really gotten into BMW due to cost. That's why I ended up getting into Ford's fox body mustangs. I would like to learn more about them though.
i own a 335i tuned by mosselman and to my opinion its the best car i have ever driven its realy a highway slayer and like you're saying you realy can feel the road i woult recoment trying to find one to test for yourself
jurian kwist i swear i own a 323i and even its not much but the handling is legendary
Gabriel St-Amour yess it sure is and the sound tho😍
Thank you for making videos like these...I really appreciate you taking about the connection to your car and the romanticism of Porsche and why I love the brand
I dig your episodes so much, they are right up my alley and now I am getting more and more into cars, so thanks for yet another video!
Porsche was for a while the people's affordable super car. But not anymore, gone are the days where you could get a G model or even a 964 for around 15 grand. Porsche nowadays is slowly going from the people's car to the elite's car, like Ferrari or Lamborghini. A 200.000 mile 964 Carrera 2 is now 50 grand, that's out of reach for most enthusiasts.
is still affordable but not in air cooled, now 6k euro for '99 boxster 160k km that mean 100miles
Mateusz Zimon That's the cost for trying to set the benchmark in the automotive world.
The price of a shiny new Porsche 911 3.8RS can get you 2 but 3 911 GT3 RS lol
Carreras, boxers, macans are all affordable cars. 911 deserves to be an elite car along with gts trims, those are no joke super vehicles that lead their class and are what everyone else tries to copy. The panamera is like the odd one out, expensive in every trim, is it an S class rival?, rs7 rival?, gt4 lusso rival even though it is a 2 door? One of a kind car? Idk
Bryan White i had no idea wat the Panemera is all about , its just weird in everyway
Every1 loves Porsche for its wining race heritage every1 loves winners
No, fuck porsche, toyota is better
I own an AE86 and fuck you
AE86 is one of the best cars on the world, at least better than any Porsche, at least its not Air Cooled and doesnt have over heating problems... and its much more reliable than any porsche
It's nowhere close to one of the best cars, and what is your reasons for it being one of the best cars?
all u can say is it's better, no Air Cooled porshe has any over heating problems like most lambo v12's and the c7 z06 vets.
Loved the episode. As you said, just letting you know that you'll should do more such visits & videos!
Awesome video, The shop atmosphere, short history lesson, personal conversation and questions, where excellent. Wheelhouse is where it's at.
I really like you guys, but...
"Are they reliable?"
SERIOUSLY?!
Also, that poor Porsche enthusiast who has to deal with all those hipsters who have never driven a real car. I feel sorry for him.
Hey man I was genuinely curious
Why would you feel sorry for him? That's his fucking job. That's how he makes money. If there weren't those people, he would be fixing Prius.
Jeff Lio
That's one way to look at it.
But if you have a real passion for something it just hurts to see someone buy one of those without even knowing what it is, let alone appreciating it.
It's just another car to them, and they only buy it because other people find it cool. It will either get wrecked, because they don't care about it, or locked away and not be driven at all to increase value, because they don't care about it.
Donut Media
I know, sorry. You made it very clear in the video that you don't know anything about Porsche. And it's ok to ask questions.
It's just...that...it hurts sometimes. 😁
When you know a thing or two about Porsche, and have been a fan of the brand for years, such beginner level questions from a car enthusiast are baffling. No hard feelings, though. 🤘
I know where you are coming from, but you can't be so elitist about it, bro. Even the most hardcore enthusiast is just a newbie fan at some point.
I hate Porsche's, or I did, I thought they were just quickish sports cars that were just a brand and nothing else. Until last 2 years, when I found the yoshida special and it changed my whole perspective on porsche and now I really appreciate them, saw a fully original 930 yesterday and I thought wow never going to see that again. Great video btw.
Sam yeah the first yoshida special that was in the midnight club was a 930 turbo but was heavily modified and had a twin turbo and could run at 200mph for more than 20 minutes on the yatabate and wangan.
Sam yeah but if the car was never modified then all the different models and different years of porsche would be exactly the same and never change. But each to their own.
Johny Oxley I thought that 930 had a single turbo from a McLaren MP4/4? I dont know how the fuck he got a F1 turbo, but I read it somewhere.
I smell the Blackbird nearby
Odezy Beckhummice janior iv never heard of that but there are alot of unknown things about the yoshida special 930, the speed hunters article would probably tell you, but I highly doubt it was a turbo from an f1 car simply because street cars had better turbos available and f1 turbos are more complex and most f1 cars were naturally aspirated in the years it took to build it.
Love this format of episodes, can't wait to see more shops like this !
one of the best videos you guys have made. keeping up the amazing work guys!
I would like a VW Beetle with an air-cooled Porsche engine.
Claudio Bizama Well the original Bettle had an engine built by Porcshe... just without the power of one :/
Its called the 911.
Bunch of those around, just google it mate. Just try searching Käfer Carrera and Super Beetle.
You can get it the other way around. The 912 had literally everything except motor and transmission from a 911. So to make a budget 911 to gain interest in the US, seen as the 911 was there only car and expensive, they released the 912. It was the same body, suspension, interior, etc. but the cut costs, slapped in a 1.6l air cooled flat 4 out of a VW and early Porsche 356 with transmission and slashed the cost. It made only 102 horsepower. It outsold the 911 by nearly 100%. It was discontinued after the 911 took off. The 911 remained their only car for a few years until the 914. When they killed the 914, they brought back the 912 for 1976 with a 2.0l air cooled flat 4 out of a VW making a gigantic 88 horsepower. I’m not joking. 88 horses. It was then discontinued for 1977 and replaced with the war crime of a car the 924. Eventually it returned again as the Cayman 718, which was introduced in 2005. Despite not being rear engines like the 912 and 911, it was still heavily inspired by the 912, being a 911 Jr. Interestingly the 718 was a rear engined race car from the 50’s that had been retired for about 45 years when it returned.
@@truantray Lmao this got me, thanks :D
up to speed - Holden please!!!!!
Please have more episodes like this. Doing so is not only fun and educational, I think it's a great opportunity to debunk so many myths and misconceptions about certain cars. For example there are shops that specialize in Corvairs. Maybe consider an episode on the controversys, and myths surrounding the Corvair from the viewpoint of a passionate Corvair shop owner.
My father had several Porsches when I was growing up.....a 911, a 912, a Targa. Absolutely loved those cars. What I loved the most about them was the chrome trim, just added that extra little touch of class to that wonderfully understated classic body. Sounded like VW's for obvious reasons, always loved the feeling of solid traction in the rear....but then that edge of flying off dangerously into space in a tight turn. If I was into acquiring classic cars, I'd definitely start with a 70's 911 Targa.

love it baby. love watching the growth! All the content you guys have been putting out is responsible for getting me back into cars again. You guys and the mighty car mods. matter fact you should do a collab with them. #cheers
I absolutely loved this video. Pls do more shop interviews!
We love it for the sound, playful rear end, the rawness of a car designed in older pure car design philosophies, such as very connected steering feel, playful chassis, oil smells, hearing every mechanical part, feeling one with the car and being connected with it. We love the charisma of the car, the fashionable looks, also the nostalgia. The older air cooled cars also reminds us of how car design philosophies and laws / norms have changed (to me for the worse, and I'd imagine for many driving enthusiasts as well). Cars are soft, big, easy, heavy, and becoming less and less playful. The air-cooled 911s screams an era of the past and defies all such boring philosophies and reminds us what driving should be all about.
PS It is NOT for picking up chicks. As matter of fact, the interior carpets smell like shit and reminds you of your old grandma's piss bucket crib with big old red carpet smells (oh...Just my grandma?)
They won't get you beautiful women, but they definitely don't hurt either.
I have a Porsche too...
Its a 1972 T2 campervan,

Being the owner of a Porsche 944 turbo that was my Grandfather's, my Dad's, and now mine, this video speaks volumes. The things he says hit very close to home. Well spoken!
I fell in love with the whale tale wing as a young teen. There was one down the street from the skatepark i rode and i would stare at it every time i went by. Just such a simple, pure automobile. It comes back to the day where people built vehicles to be driven, maintained, and loved.
its called "luftgekühlt" or "luftgekuehlt" not "luftgekuhlt" :) great video
In this life, or the next one.. when i get rich, i will buy one for sure :)
What if you dont
Better make it happen on THIS run...Next round isn’t a certainty /Hella unknown realm...#GodSpeed ✨🎅🏿👍🏿✨
Get one. Keep it well maintained and it will pay for itself. Unless it catches on fire, you will make your money back when you sell it. You get to drive a dream car for free! How many cars can you say that about?
@@victimology7761 i wouldnt say free. sure if you have it throughout your life it will save you money eventually being far better value than lots of other cars hehe. Tho cars arent everything in life, despite how epic porsche is.
Loved the format! Keep going fellas.
Great video man, hope to see one on Dinan soon. Keep up the great work!!!
Did that guy essentially say that hipsters are a good thing?
mastafixa no.
yes, that's what he said
Why we love them cuz they are easy to drive , race , maintain , sell and most of all , collect :)
Charlotte Dunois easy to drive? i think you have a misconceptiin here. sure at cruisingspeeds and in town they're easy, but man can they become a bitch when you take them to the twisties and push em to the limit. even the best driver in the world and most iconic porsche "mascot" Walter Röhrl says that. he likes porsches because of the challenge they offer when driving.
What the fuck? Have you even driven one? 😂😂 True to various degree but it's coming from a wrong perspective (can tell just by the adjectives you used)
They definite are not easy to drive, which is why ppl make jokes about "how not to hit a tree, a 911 hand book". Few nowadays are raced. Collect is true. Maintain...They are reliable but is wouldn't say we LOVE to maintain then necessarily. They are unique mechanical pieces.

Absolutely love this show and everything donut media makes 😍
This was definitely a good segment, Keep it up!
They forgot about the 944’s 968’s and 928’s?
aren't those Porsches for people who don't like Porsche? Like why would you get a Porsche that isn't rear engine?
just get a real one.
944s are basically a german RX7
928s had too many electrical problems , fed up with them yrs ago
Alex Strömberg Well "real ones" cost min. 30k for a SC in shitty condition. A 924 (which still is a very classy and good looking car in my opinion) costs 5k for one with a few flaws and 10-15k for one thats A+.
and? costs to be on top.
I don't think Jeremy likes beetles...
Cuz he kept losing to it

Porsche knowledge lacking? Could we have a tour of the cave you've been living in?
This was great. You always hear from the same restorers like Magnuson. Love that guy, but there’s a ton of other personalities o hear from. And your interviews are candid. You’re having the conversations with industry insider that everyday petrol heads want to hear. Great work in tho one!
