I wanted a Porsche Turbo as a kid, and was forced to traded in my childhood to own one as an adult. But the car brings out the child in me everytime I start her up.
The 930 turbo will forever be my favorite. Was one of the first Porsche's I drove in and was introduced to when I was a kid. Everytime I see one pull into the service part of the Porsche Dealership I work at I always get excited. To me the 911 will always be an heirloom brand. These cars were in my opinion built to perfection and care.

Personally one my most favorite supercars are the 911 gt2rs (991 generation) But i also love the 992 turbo S cause it's super practical for it's performance

As Porsche being my favourite car make and the 911 being the benchmark of sport/performance vehicles, I really was expecting the 7-speed manual gearbox to be mentioned, as well as the 911 was intended to be replaced with the 928 back then. But great video!

The 2017 and 2021 GT2 RS, Nürburgring record setting cars are different, one's with the Weissach Package and other's with the MR kit but both were production cars.

I'd be irritated if my name was Stēve and they pronounced it Stĕv with a short E, even AFTER they had been told over and over, the proper way to pronounce it.

Missed the 996.2, 997.2 and 991.2 very different than the 996, 997 and 991. Especially the 991.1 none of the exterior body panels and rims are shared with the 991 and the entire drive train is different going from the N/A to being completely turbo charged. Interior is mostly the same for the exception of a new steering wheel and new interior technology all in all beside similar looks its a completely different car and also marked the massive shift from over 50 years of NA engines to all Turbo Charged line to meet tightening emission regulations.
This is a decent review, but the REAL 911 fans will want to watch (if they haven't already) the film "50 Years of the 911" created by the guys at Everyday Driver. I've been a fan of theirs since 2008 and I can't remember seeing another comprehensive comparison of the 911 generations being driven back to back. If there is another, please let me know so I can watch that one too!

Now, to be fair, you could divide sports cars into 2 levels, the kind like Miata and most British ones that can be more fully enjoyed at reasonable road speeds, and are more affordable, and the faster ones like Porsche, Corvette, Ferrari, etc., but they're all sports cars. Corvette is the longest- running sports car, having been seriously competitive since 1956. It and 911 have always been on parallel tracks.
I appreciate the skills of Porsche to make a car drivable despite the fact that the engine is put at the completely wrong place. But why on earth did this car get so big and heavy?
Because an air-cooled engine could no longer deliver the performance expected of a Porsche, nor the stringent Euro emission standards. They went water-cooled and and (I think) the transition then was the largest size increase.

Emm, the g-model is also knowed as 930, the 964 was created in 1988, the 993 was created in 1993 and the 996 was created in 1997. And the 993 Turbo is the first 911 with a twin-turbo engine motor. Also the 993, 996 and 997 targa models have a different design, compared to the 901, 930, 964, 991 and 992 targa models.
The 964 was created in 1988 as a 1989 model, the 993 was created in 1993 as a 1994 model and the 996 was created in 1997 as a 1998 model. The 959 was the first 911 with a 6 speeds & twin-turbo engine.
The pronunciation of both Porsche and Peugeot (specifically) in this video, oh man.... "Grinds my gears"

The original series 912 version is not as fast as the 911, but handles better due to better weight distribution. The later 912E had a VW bus engine.

The 911 is most definitely not the most mass produced sports car ever made. Corvette and Miata both exceeded it.
