Thank you so much for the encouraging comment. It takes many hours to put together even the shortest video - so I appreciate your kind words. God Bless! ~Erika

This is so well presented, clearly thought out and articulated, and demonstrated. You really have really thought of the viewer's needs. I wish more UA-cam demonstration videos were planned thoroughly and presented professionally like this. Most of them are self indulgent and disappointing. Thanks. :)
This is the best recipe for kale chips I have tried! I've made it at least five times now, and adjusted to my taste, only adding a bit more cayenne. After the second go, as I had at least 1.5 cups more mix--my chips are thoroughly coated as I skipped the spatula method and use my hands, messier, but quicker-- I've reduced each ingredient slightly so that I have just a 1/4-1/2 cup leftover. Thank you for sharing--my friends ADORE your recipe, as do I.
Just made these today, very fiddly, it tastes like seasoned spinach and it's nice and crunchy, the coating was delisious on its own! Thanks! Silverbeet was all I had, and it wasn't my favourite snak ever but this is a very good recipe.
What I love about this recipe is all the additional micro nutrients you add to the kale, a nutritional powerhouse on its own. There are 5 servings of vegetables, I fruit, plus nuts, seeds, healthy fat, and nutritional yeast. Plus they taste great! Beautifully demonstrated and explained as well, thank you so much. I own a vitamix blender and Excalibur dehydrator, and can't recommend them enough, great investments in health.
made this recipe about a year ago - received very positive feedback from friends and family. I did increase some of the ingredients to give it more of a "kick". Making again tonight. Thanks for sharing this yummy recipe!!!
Thanks Charlie! The moisture content in the food keeps it cool for the first few hours of dehydrating, so there' s no additional nutrient loss. I only increase the temp for the first couple of hours to speed the process & prevent spoilage on really wet mixtures. Enjoy & God Bless! ~Erika
This is the best recipe for kale chips. Thank you for keeping it posted for so long. I have made it several times and the chips are so addicting. Oh and did I mention that I don't like kale.
these look so good. finnaly someone who knows what they are doing ! some people say to heat in the oven at 300 degrees or put in the microwave, cant wait to get my dehydrator this week, im going to have that thing running everyday !
Thank you, thank you, THAAAAANK YOU for the recipe!!!! i just have a little question about the excalibur machine, does it spend much electricity? do you see it reflected on your electricity bill ?
I must say I have made this quite a few times and it is the best kale chip recipe I have found. The only catch is you really need a powerful blender ( I burned up two lesser quality blenders) could not afford VitaMix so I bought a Ninja instead and it handles the mixture with no problems.
I watched for your lesson in the vitamix. I just got mine and I am no doing well with it. I cannot make your recipe though. I had the alcat test done and have food allergies to sunflower, cayeanne, and macadamia nuts. thank you though it looks really good
TFS..I can't wait to try this out..We have recently gone Gluten and dairy free, and I have used many MANY of your recipes...I know your life is very busy but .I have to say..I am really missing your videos..such an inspiration :) 💕 💕
Good afternoon, those kale chips look wonderful!! I have hearing issues and wonder if there is a place you have your recipes. Thank you and have a Blessed day.
Absolutely! You can line a cookie sheet or tray with parchment and put these in your oven at the lowest temp - just be sure to watch them closely so they don't burn & rotate them as needed so they dry evenly. Let me know how it goes! =) God Bless! ~Erika
How exciting! =) I have an Excalibur 9 Tray with a Timer. There's such a little cost difference between the 5 Tray & 9 Tray model, that if you can afford it, I would highly recommend getting the larger one. If you call Excalibur directly, tell them I sent you... they often give out free shipping and other perks for my UA-cam friends. Hope that helps! God Bless! ~Erika
I'm so glad you guys liked it!! I'm always amazed at how quickly people change their mind about healthy food when it actually tastes good! =) You can't go wrong with Kale Chips! Thanks for the comment... God Bless! ~Erika
I think I need to invest in a dehydrator now! Until then, can I just dehydrate them in the oven for several hours? I'm thinking to heat the oven to 200, turn it off, put in the kale, and let it go till it's dry.
I'm going to give these a try! I'm on a 21 day water fast but I love cooking so I'll make these and then look forward to them in 2 weeks! BTW your link in this video to the recipe needs to be updated - it goes to an empty page right now. :)
David Woodier be blessed with your target goal. I'm on day 10, but I haven't figured out how long I'm going to go yet. I keep gravitating toward food recipes. Partially because I'm inspired to eat healthy foods and partially because I seem to like to torture myself.
hello,i love your kale chips,,i use cocunut oil,and the same yeast, pink salt,,but when i put mine in a zipp lock bag, they dont keep their crunch.what do you do
I look forward to creating these when I get an Excalibur! The only change I would make is to switch the Bragg's Liquid Aminos with wheat-free Tamari. I can't handle the Bragg's. For some reason, it causes brain inflammation for me. Is it isolated soy protein? Regardless, I can't use it.
Red Russian kale has the same texture as curly kale. It's just red with a purple stem and would hold the sauce just as easy as curly kale. Lacinato also known as dino kale might not hold the sauce as nice and come out with a stiff coat of the dressing over it.
I haven't personally used collards, but I know someone who tried and had great success... just watch those dehydrating temps until you see how they hold up. =) God Bless! ~Erika
Hello! I just came across this video because I'm thinking about purchasing a dehydrator and I'm trying to see the different recipes and machines that are out there. Do you recommend the Excalibur for a first timer? I am interested in making my own veggie chips, dried fruit and crackers. Any tips or suggestions you could give would be very helpful in my decision making process. Thank you!
+healthyeatingalways no problem . just be careful with kale chips though. I need to somehow hide them from myself . I ate 5 pint size jars of them yesterday 😕😕 I made some more this morning , 5 loaded trays and it only costs me $7. just red bell pepper , olive oil , chili powder , paprika and nutritional yeast . not as "complicated " as this recipe but I'm gonna try this one for sure , because it's so much cheaper than buying kale chips at the store
ALOHA Erika! Is this recipe from Maui? I tried it last night and love them! Thank you for the great recipe! Does heating them up to 125 for the first two hours make them no longer raw or is that 115 degree thing just a myth? I look forward to more of your delicious healthy recipes. I just went vegan two months ago and love it! Mahalo, Charlie :-)
Yes, they do sell all kinds of kale chips now - but be prepared, they can be expensive! Hopefully someday you will have a dehydrator and be able to make a big batch yourself! =) God Bless! ~Erika
Hi! No, you do not need to blanch the Kale before dehydrating... Plus, they're so good that they won't last long enough to lose any nutrients! =) Enjoy & God Bless! ~ Erika
Any tips on saving money on this recipe? I just had to lop off an arm to pay for the ingredients. Macadamia nuts are close to $15 a lb here in New York! Yikes!
That is Awesome!!! I love hearing how willing kids are to eat healthy when the food actually tastes great! It also helps that she has someone who loves her enough to make them! =) Enjoy & God Bless! ~Erika
Just put a little on your salad top, and put the rest away....then repeat the next day.....just get enough and eat it with other Whole plant foods, and don't overeat...that's all.....
Hi! I'm not sure what you mean about a 'bra' commercial, but I'm assuming it's the ad that UA-cam plays before my videos. Unfortunately, I have no control over what ads show - it's based on your browsing history and their ad system. If you shared the video, there's no guarantee what ad will play, but you can share the link. Thanks so much! God Bless! ~Erika
No, just to clarify... you do not need to blanch the Kale before dehydrating... That's the beauty of dehydrating Raw Food! =) Enjoy & God Bless! ~ Erika
You must be rich since you have a vitamix! I broke my blender when I made a red velvet milkshake by accident and I wanted to buy the vitamix since you can use it for multiple functions without just blending and they're very expensive!!
Haha! Definitely not rich... I had two garage sales & sold a bunch of stuff to buy my VitaMix over 10 years ago. It's changed our lives through improved nutrition and makes eating healthier so much easier! I hope one day you'll you'll have one so you can try that red velvet milkshake without breaking the blender. :) God Bless! ~Erika
Christine Martin ... you can go to vitamix website and they have payment installments. 3 or 5 month installments to get your appliance and that even includes their certified refurb program where you can get the appliance for less money
The one I got from their certified refurb program was $372 and you can do it over 3 or 5 month installments if you like ... brand new they are $499 but you can still do the installments over 3 or 5 months ... the biggest difference between the two programs besides refurb of course is refurb is 5 yr warranty and brand new is 7
Ruby Sumner in america its called superfood :) also alfa alfa its used to feel animals in europe in the US its superfood and very expensive hahahahahah
I have been making this recipe for about 5 years. Everyone loves them! Truly the BEST Kale chip recipe ever! Thank you!

Delicious, and thank your Mother for me. Thank you for sharing.
This is the best recipe for kale chips. Thank you for keeping it posted for so long. I have made it several times and the chips are so addicting. Oh and did I mention that I don't like kale.
I tried them and they were a big hit with my daughter!! She not only ate them, she posted them on Facebook! I am going to make a batch per week!
They look great! I have had varying results in my over and am very excited to make them in the dehydrator.
WOW! My son bought me a dehydrator for Christmas. can't wait to try this recipe. Love Vegan raw food!
these look so good. finnaly someone who knows what they are doing ! some people say to heat in the oven at 300 degrees or put in the microwave, cant wait to get my dehydrator this week, im going to have that thing running everyday !

Wonderful recipe erika!!! ... But I am a little concerned about storage in ziplog bags inside the fridge... Will it get moist or loose its crunch?
Great video. Clear instructions.
I have been looking for a great Kale chip recipe! Thank you so much for sharing this. I am going to try it!

Good afternoon, those kale chips look wonderful!! I have hearing issues and wonder if there is a place you have your recipes. Thank you and have a Blessed day.
Hi Joan! These are good, I'm sure you'll enjoy them! All of my recipes can be found online at aLittleInsanity.com God Bless! ~Erika
A Little Insanity Thank you and have a Blessed, safe weekend.
Erkia,
I just order both the vitamix and esc dehydrator. I am excited about using them both. I need recipes. For both. I have bookmarked your site.

The mixture would make a great salad dressing - taste the chips before you put them in the dehydrator - they are incredible
I'm so glad you guys liked it!! I'm always amazed at how quickly people change their mind about healthy food when it actually tastes good! =) You can't go wrong with Kale Chips! Thanks for the comment... God Bless! ~Erika
I can't wait to make some!!! Great video! Thank You
You've already got the VitaMix & the Dehydrator! =) Even your son will love these too! Enjoy & God Bless! ~Erika
Will definitely have to give this recipe a try... Enjoyed the video, thanks :)
Thanks Urban Garden Survival! I hope you enjoy it! =) God bless! ~Erika
I just made my kale chips using smoked paprika, yours look great
This was really good thank you.
Really Well Demonstrated... Well Done & God Bless...
Good to know about the Braggs! Wheat Free Tamari is a great substitute! =) Enjoy & God Bless! ~Erika

Hi, is that the 9 tray excalibur? if so, why did you use only 4? And how much noise does it make?
I'm going to give these a try! I'm on a 21 day water fast but I love cooking so I'll make these and then look forward to them in 2 weeks!
BTW your link in this video to the recipe needs to be updated - it goes to an empty page right now. :)

I still get excited for people when I hear they are getting a VitaMix!! =) You are going to LOVE IT!! =) God Bless! ~Erika
Thanks for the video!! For us broke people: the Nutri-Bullet does a great job with all veggies and nuts (not as good as vitamix but close).
Or you could get retro VitaMix on eBay for $60-$100 (I just got one for way less than this, but I was lucky).
hello,i love your kale chips,,i use cocunut oil,and the same yeast, pink salt,,but when i put mine in a zipp lock bag, they dont keep their crunch.what do you do
Either too much oil or moisture left in them. Good luck

My garden is loaded with red russian kale and dino kale. What do you think about substituting one of these for the curly kale?
Red Russian kale has the same texture as curly kale. It's just red with a purple stem and would hold the sauce just as easy as curly kale. Lacinato also known as dino kale might not hold the sauce as nice and come out with a stiff coat of the dressing over it.
Are the amino acids required - maybe for safety? Or just something that adds to the taste? Thanks for your time - nice thorough video.
I would like to know this as well?
So many ingredients. It's ingreadients with kale :-)
Try it, well worth the effort.
Very well put together video!! Great recipe!
thank you so much for sharing this recipe
this chips da bomb
I haven't personally used collards, but I know someone who tried and had great success... just watch those dehydrating temps until you see how they hold up. =) God Bless! ~Erika
PLEASE ANSWER! You don't have to blanch the Kale before dehydrating?? To preserve the enzyme...whatever it is?? I'm so confused!
Subed because of this video!! You guys rock!! Love the Vitamix, we have a Blendtec. We are triathletes, vegan and feeling GGGGGGGGREAT!!
How would plunging raw veggies in boiling water preserve enzymes? I am confused, too!
Hello! I just came across this video because I'm thinking about purchasing a dehydrator and I'm trying to see the different recipes and machines that are out there. I'm not her , but I have an excalibur, and it's truly amazing . lots of space . 9 14inx14in trays . if you can afford it go for it , great investment.
Thank you for the info. This will really help me in narrowing down my choices.
+healthyeatingalways no problem . just be careful with kale chips though. I need to somehow hide them from myself . what are the amounts of each of your ingredients? I am interested in trying this recipe.
Did you want my recipe for the Kale Chips I make in the oven?
Do you soak you nuts and seeds and rinse first?
Great recipes

Mahalo, Charlie :-)
I definitely want to try this, but is it possible to replicate this without a dehydrator? If so, how?
I dont have a dehydrator. will it work in a regular oven?
Great job! I loved the video.
Yes, they do sell all kinds of kale chips now - but be prepared, they can be expensive! Hopefully someday you will have a dehydrator and be able to make a big batch yourself! =) God Bless! ~Erika
Fan from france !
very through explanation!
Hi! No, you do not need to blanch the Kale before dehydrating... Plus, they're so good that they won't last long enough to lose any nutrients! =) Enjoy & God Bless! ~ Erika
Hey! This recipe looks boss! Thank you.
Can you use a conventional oven to make your kale chips in?
Any tips on saving money on this recipe? I just had to lop off an arm to pay for the ingredients. Macadamia nuts are close to $15 a lb here in New York! Yikes!
This is def. not a low cost snack
MrBeckett74 She lives in Hawaii where macadamia nuts are harvested, so I'm sure she can get them for cheap.
Are these still considered to be "raw' since they were cooked at 125 degrees for first 2 hours?
I was wondering the same thing. From what I gather, the Raw Foodies say anything cooked at over 116 or 117 is a no go.
Couldn't have said it better myself! =) God Bless! ~Erika
Thank you SO much!
Just what I needed! Thanks, E! Looks delicious. :o)
Cabbage and mustard in the food dehydrator... not the same... or is it?
That is Awesome!!! I love hearing how willing kids are to eat healthy when the food actually tastes great! It also helps that she has someone who loves her enough to make them! =) Enjoy & God Bless! ~Erika
The problem I have with this recipe is that once I start eating the kale chips I can't stop
Just put a little on your salad top, and put the rest away....then repeat the next day.....just get enough and eat it with other Whole plant foods, and don't overeat...that's all.....
Kale chip sounds scary can't wait to try this recipe just got my first dehydrator going to try to eat better thanks for the help.
Does it matter what type of Kale you use? I bought Dyno Kale
Hi Beth! Both the Dino & Green Leafy will work beautifully! Enjoy & God Bless! ~Erika

Why you're not soaking the nuts and seeds before that for longer time and throw the water to remove the Enzyme inhibitor in them?

Hi, How are u doing? And I want to say thank you so much for this video. And can you please send me the kale chip recipe? Tahnk you so much.

I do not agree on this Kale chip

I LOVE KALE!

Can you cook these kale chips in the oven using the recipe???
I really like to know this too!
Jazmin Sandoval You can cook them in the toilet
good stuff
o.o u should have ur own cooking show c:
Where can I find dihydrater
Amazon has a variety for great prices. Depending on your yield. I'm buying a 5 tray one with clear sides so I can see the product as it's drying.
I use baby organic kale that I get from Whole Foods.
Nice I'm on my way over :)
@annspeterson, you might not tolerate braggs well because it has naturally occurring msg. it can cause problems for people who are sensitive to msg.
In new zealand we give kale to horses :)
I'll eat both.
Crow T. Robot loooooooooooooool
healthy horses
Ruby Sumner in america its called superfood :) also alfa alfa its used to feel animals in europe in the US its superfood and very expensive hahahahahah
New Zealand isn't in Europe...
