- A fly above Toton Yard on a sunny winter Saturday.. various Class 60s, 66s, and 67s are seen in various stages of maintenance and storage at Toton Yard. Notably the DB Class 60s are in decline and are believed to be ceasing operation as of 2024.
Interestingly in this video, we capture 60163 Tornado which is currently at Toton for wheel turning on the lathe, very much a surprise for me.
Enjoy the look around.. plenty of locomotives on display. - Авто та транспорт
Superb video, and smooth flying. One day I might get a drone for filming hard to access areas, I need to check out the rules first. Anyway I loved this vid. It's been a while since I was last there, and a good few more since my first visit. Thanks for posting.
Many thanks. It’s an excellent piece of kit, the rules and regulations are very easy to understand.. definitely worth it.
Cracking video and some super smooth flying, what is the steam loco parked up and is it missing its cab?
I was wondering that aswel
Bertie I’m pretty sure it is 60103 Tornado
I just can't understand why we as a railway company's buying new locomotives from abroad when we have about 100 stetting in sidings rusting away after paying thousands of pounds years ago when the cash could have been spent on opening railway routes to move the population around the country, now all the class 60s sit idol waiting for a unfortunate future it dose not make senses in my mind
I really don't understand the way DB thinks. Hold on to locos rather than potentially get something by selling them just so that competitors can't get them, abandon the use of electric traction while calling themselves "climate champions" ... the worst run freight company by fa
I believe Toton may be the only depot that has the cost effective expertise to maintain the Class 60s. Word is that up to 100 locos may soon go up for sale. By selling them off they may acquire various maintenance contracts.
Although I really think there has been a downturn in railfreight recently, without HS2.. it would be much quieter.
