I used Harlow Town station, Essex, in the early 1980's. When a Type 37 approached, the entire station would resonate loudly to the sound of its engine. It was the only station I have ever known do this. The type 37 hauled trains were London Liverpool Street to Cambridge and Kings Lynn.
I've got to ask, are the nose end pieces interchangeable between the 37 and 40? Cos they look the same shape and size. Obviously I'm aware that the 40s have one more axle per bogie, and they're longer, but apart from that they look almost the same. Although I think the noses look better on the 37s. Especially when the centre head code, is panelled with two lights, with a centre light beneath, forming a triangle. They look so menacing. Not so keen on the look of the split head code ones though.
I could listen to them all day long & they are the real work horse of the railway!
They are absolute beasts 56’s are up there aswell

37 minutes of 37s - can’t argue with that 😂
Literally haha Thankyou bro
@@rog37685 Actually, not literally!
'37's at full throttle has to be one of the best diesel sounds around - I'd even go so far as to say they rival the mighty Deltic.
I think they do
These locos sound great
They do indeed thanks
Love to hear what these would sound like in the middle of Totley Tunnel.

Great engine sounds ! And what are those yellow Network Rail carriages used for ?
They inspect track defects and ensure the network is running fine

How much power does a 47 pack? They sound so beefy compared to the diesel locos here in America 😂😂😂😂😂
These class 37’s produce 1750hp, a 47 produces about 2580hp
