    Wire brush on a drill makes it a lot easier than sandpaper

      You cant sand the surface with a wire wheel. Sand paper is necessary to smooth out the surface.

    You should definitely tape off the tire when doing both the acetone wipe and the stripper. Paint stripper will annihilate rubber.

      Because of limitations where I live, I had to do one tire at a time from start to end. It took me around 2 hours per tire. There is some drying time involved -- I used heat gun to expedite the process.

      Paint stripper (Klean-Strip KS-3 Premium) let sit for about 10 minutes, a putty knife to get the loose stuff off, next steel wool , last sand paper.

    • @thomascombs3087
      @thomascombs3087 7 років тому +2

      It would have saved you a lot of time if after you put down your paint stripper you would have used a stiff unabrasive brush or power washer to remove the paint. Using a putty knife must have taken up most of your time.

    No spot putty used.. To fill in scratches.. Bad job.. You need 2 coats zinc chromate primer.. 3 or 4 coats paint.. And 3 coats of clear coat.. Let it cure for a week and then put 2 coats of ceramic coating to prevent rock chips and you will have perfect wheels.
