been watching your videos for quit a while, just enjoy them so much. the picture are so clean and sharp. I,m here in Southern Utah. yes the tigers are soo awsome. I dont ice fish but me and my buddy fish almost one a week from April to the middle of Nov. i,mgoing to have to try the water bobber thing this coming Spring. .Thanks for the great vdeos again.the old retired mastersargent.
Thanks for another beautiful video! One thing I have done in the past when fish are being extra finicky is to put the bobber on a dropper so that I have a direct connection to the lure. Occasionally that is helpful. I have fished like this using Joe's flies (weightless spinner +fly) since I was a kid. It was a popular technique back in PA.
@@pdxfisher1 Do you use a 3-way swivel at all or do you simply tie the rig with a knot that split the line into 3 ways? Anyway, thanks for the suggestion!
Tyler, not one of your better videos. Couldn't see the bobber action. To me that is part of the excitement. You definitely live in a beautiful place. Hope I can get there someday. Looking forward to future videos. Thank you for sharing your adventures.
So when you use the water bobber. Is your wooly bugger weighted? Or Do you add a small split shot to weigh it down if your fly isn’t weighted? Or Is this more of a surface or upper water level presentation?
It really depends on the depth you want to target. Sometime I'll find trout feeding just subsurface and then I use an unweighted fly other times they are feeding deeper then I'll use a weighted fly or add a small split shot. They even make sliding water bobbers where you'll need to use a bobber stop but then you can fish much deeper.
@@spiltmilt Adding a split shot is OK, what I did was, get some tungsten puddy and mold a small piece on your line. You can regulate the size and of course the position to suit the situation.
I notice my line gets wrapped around itself quite often with this technique. Same bobber with 3-4 foot leader down to fly. Not sure if it hangs up on cast or winds up on retrieve. I don't cast hard or whip it out there violently. Any suggestions?
Wow thanks for the video, I’ll have to try the water bobber, nice golden trout you caught, glad you let it go. You’re good at fishing.
The little fishery I go to over here in England has tiger trout in, I love them they look amazing the different patterns
Yes they are absolutely beautiful
That tiger at the start swam away like "Eh - no big deal!" Gorgeous fish!

Thanks for the video. I've had a water bobber in my kit for a while now. You have inspired me to get out and use it.
Can't wait for some hard water fishing and videos.
Coming soon!

That's a great suggestion
By dropper do you mean dropper loop? Similar to tying on a drop shot
Thanks
@@jbreezy93. a 3-way dropper (like a 3 -way swivel). Bobber is on a short dropper of a couple of inches. Lure is on a 3 to 4 foot leader.

Thanks Tyler another super helpful video!
Very nice video !! thanks for sharing.
Looks like those trout would be brilliant fun on the fly
Absolutely. I was kicking myself for not bringing along my 4 wt as well.
Can we get more trolling for trout on kayak video? They’re very informative! Thanks

Great video. Can you please tell me what size reel you recommend for this type of fishing? Thanks
Great video what size bubble would you recommend 1/8 or 3/16 or 1/4 oz.
you ever figure it out? wondering myself
Nice brown!! I just got caught a few splake trout over in my channel
What size was that bobber in the video? Nice job! Great technique!
Isn’t it inverted the way you’re using it? Thank you
No because the air trapped inside goes to the wider diameter end
Thank you
How do you detect the strike? By looking at the water bobber or feeling on the line?
do you see or feel the take?
gonna try this at a fairly big lake, wont be able to see my clear bobber.
thanks for the nice video! :)
You can see it more than feel it. They make brightly colored version of this bobber to aid in detecting the bite

What size hook do you find works best??2,4,6,8,10???
Size 4 or 6 work best for me

What's the benefit of the yellow 'float' bobbers compared to a 'regular' bobber?
Visibility
I have a hell of a time trying to thread my line through those water bobbers. What’s the trick?
It can be tough on light line. I’ll sometimes use a length of heavier test with a loop at the end to pull the 2 or 4 pound test through.
If you flip the bobber, then it can’t unwind on the cast no matter how heavy or full the bobber is.
Yes, the instructions say that the pointy end of the bobber should always face the rod.
I notice my line gets wrapped around itself quite often with this technique. Same bobber with 3-4 foot leader down to fly. Not sure if it hangs up on cast or winds up on retrieve. I don't cast hard or whip it out there violently. Any suggestions?
I change my casting style to a sweeping cast rather than overhead and that helps
Why the water bobber over say, a regular bobber with some weight directly under it? Is it because the water bobber floats sideways on the surface?
It's much heavier and can cast much further without the need for lead.
@@spiltmilt sweet man. I'm headed to nisqually delta tomorrow to try and get some founder tomorrow based on your video!! Any fresh tips?
How long do you make the leader off the bobber?
Typically in the 12"-48" range
What pound test were you useing?
6 lbs
@@spiltmilt great video!
Would you ever use 4 lb on the same fish/setup, and just take a bit more time tiring the fish?
I’m having issues with my line wrapping all around the bobber.
Try a more sweeping cast and just before your bobber hits the water flip your bail.
Rat lake?
Yes
