    I'm happy they kept the K5 engine. The newer GSX-R engine will add cost and complexity, but no gains on the road. Suzuki's newest products are absolutely killing it for practicality and value in my opinion.

    I dont have an issue with the k5 motor. Its one of my favorite I4 motors of the 2000s. Im thinking full exhaust, tune and air filter will put this girl into 160ish hp.. thats plenty of power for me. I might have to buy one.. never liked the old models design but this one is a lot better

    I'm glad they've kept the engine. It's the best in its class. 19-litre fuel tank! Love the stacked lights. Wider bars. I hope the new electronics package is restrained. Quick shifter/blipper = good development. Good dash. Who needs a TFT? The litre inline four I'd buy if I wanted one, especially at that price.

      Andy, mate I tend to agree with you on the looks department. It’s almost un Suzuki like with an attempt at a KTM with a bit of the original Katana thrown into the design. Doesn’t work for me as an ex Suzuki racer. I’ll reserve my final judgement when I get to see it in the flesh. One great point is keeping and fine tuning that old K5 engine. I remember being at Phillip Island during pre-season testing and it was producing quicker lap times than any of the MotoGP bikes. All unofficial of course... 👍😎🇦🇺

    Nice to see that Suzuki thought of the poor bikers like me to keep it reasonable and not to fall into to trap of too many gizmos, too much power and putting it out of reach for many.

  • @juniormin3454
    @juniormin3454 3 роки тому +1

    In my opinion poeple don't appreciate the K5 engine enough, yes it is 16 years old but it's been heavily revised, it's still a great engine in today's standard, the power delivery is silky smooth and a lot of low end torque (I've got the current model Katana), the intake howl just sound sexy. So whoever complained about the K5, I think you really should go and test ride one, it's better than the cb1000r (with the 2007 fireblade engine), and 150hp is not shy.

    • @clauskristensen7456
      @clauskristensen7456 3 роки тому +4

      Yes, you're absolutely right. 4 kg heavier than the previous. 2 hp more, but at 1000 rpm more (152 hp @ 11.000 rpm ) ! Torque down -3 Nm than previous ! Disappointed big time. Why not the rims from R1000 (guess saving 3 kg in all) . So now you pay roughly 1600 € (in mainland Europe) for extra 4 kg of full LED, ride by wire, new plastic + gastank (design) and a QS !
      What's missing here : A derated VVT engine with 150 hp and the original 119 Nm of torque. Cruise control. 6-chanel EMU and the weight of the GSX-R1000 and the final one : Electronic suspension.
      Sorry Suzuki. This is old wine in a cracked bottle.

    • @prndownload
      @prndownload 3 роки тому +1

      This thing is typically cheaper than a street triple and more inline with an MT09. It has always been a lot of bike for the money which has made it hard for me to commit to the Honda CB1000R. After all I just need a no frills bike to commute on daily which is also fun and capable.

      the GSXS 750 is completely fine, it just definitely needs the GSXR750 state of tune. Suzuki says the GSXS is tuned for low end and midrange but in reality it's just less powerful all around, it makes marginally more power below 5k at the cost of a tons of top end power

    This GSX-S Thou smells like it actually has some fairly significant improvements and well worth a proper look once it lands - A serious tank range (halleluyah!) and a super low slung pipe that doesn't limit (or melt) luggage options and significantly improved suspension all mean they have been serious about producing a fairly agile (almost-super) naked high speed twisties touring machine - Range should be superb and this is where most of the super naked competition almost fall down or at least create a lot of undue stress when roaming further afield - These extra electronicswould all support that use very well too - What other nakeds have this sort of sports capability and touring range for that price?

    I have a 2016 GSX-S 1000 ( mods I have personally installed : M-4 exhaust, Brembo 19 RCS Corsa Corta, Lightech R Adjustable rearsets tail tidy used the factory licence plate metal bracket + bike protection R&G, evotech have also but haven’t installed yet Dale Walker Supertune o2 bypass and K&N air filter got the front Forks revalued and one day would like to replace the rear shock. Long story but overall great bike! Also am disappointed they didn’t do a ground up GSX-R current engine GSX-S. Great vid though Chops and the tape bit was funny 😆👍

    Hi Chops,
    In my opinion I think the jury is still out...at least until we can see this bike in the flesh. Promotion images and video can only show us so much. I was about to buy the 2021 model in black to update from my current 2016 model. So now I’ll hold out to see it and then make a decision.
    Don’t know when we’ll see it here in Australia probably at the end of the year.
    One of the better videos covering this new release 👍🎥...thanks Chops.

      Kind of like the old model I think they actually look better than expected in person. Having the headlight low on this bike gives it a really meaty stance and removes focus from the headlight itself.

    Chops, a quick shifter can be fitted to the old bike, I have one on mine. You just can’t have (I believe) have the downshifter and auto blipper.

    Love the green screen format Chopsy! Realise this is just "first look" format, improvising as you dont have the bike, but it's also much better / clearer in some ways and allows for a much more systematic assessment of bike / features than the trusty industry standard "rolling helmet review" imo :-) - Get to see the bike more too - Like the way you've mixed the location you're presenting from on the screen as well - The lower left "cameo" (eg at 3:20)and the lower right insert alternating for interest works well, as that offset to one side allows for a good look at the bike and elements you are referring to at same time - Good also to mix that up with your central shot for more general discussion as you have - Really nailed it - Be great if you have time (and inclination!) to integrate this format with some brief highlights from one of your typically excellent hands-on ride reviews as well! Would combine to create a great review I think

      Thanks buddy really appreciate the feedback 👍 Yes I thought it worked quite well like that and interesting idea to do something like that with a full on bike review... cheers buddy 👍
