My story with Suzuki is unfortunate but not at all the fault of Suzuki. When I started getting into bikes at 16, Suzuki was top dog in the sport bike world. Both GSXR was top of both 600 and 1000cc categories, and the 750 was in a class of its own. I got my licence at 18 and got my first big bike at 19, so was on a restricted licence of 33bhp at that time. This heavily strangled my SRAD 600 and I still managed to write it off when I slid off on ice. In short I owned just 1 Suzuki and never experienced the full power.
Thanks for the review! I'm 6'3" and I'm extremely happy to hear you compliment the comfort for taller riders. I thought I was dead set on a new Yamaha MT09SP and was gonna settle for a not as comfortable riding position (based on test riding the old version). This bike has changed my mind since its reveal and seems to be pretty impressive based on the reviews coming in. My plan is to get one in Triton Blue as soon as they are available in the US.
I've seen so many reviews of this lovely bike recently and I've found that this is a genuine and sincere down to earth honest review. It's just the way you come across in telling us all about it. Fantastic m8!
I’m a taller rider and I’ve been struggling to find a bike to fit me. I sat on the previous model of the GSX-S 1000 and the GSX-S 1000 F and found them to be very comfortable. I’m waiting for this bike in the GSX-S 1000 F trim as I want some wind protection. Frankly, I don’t understand why nakeds don’t have windscreens, since most people add them. I’m glad you didn’t discuss how it would perform on track since so few people do track days and even fewer buy these types of bikes for them. Why reviews cover track use and how bikes wheelie is beyond me. I was also interested in the Yamaha MT-10, but I think the Suzuki makes more sense for me, especially given how lousy the fuel economy is on the MT-10. Thanks for the great review.
Track days are covered because there are those who enjoy vicariously, much like there are viewers/readers of moto media that have never had not many never have had a motorbike. Oh, and because free track days gets journos to cover your stuff. #marketing
I have a blue 2016 GSXS1000 naked and its a great bike. 4 years on and I sill love riding it. I don't like the look of new bike, especially the front. Someone needs to tell the Japanese a LED headlight doesn't have to be ugly to be effective. I like that they fixed the torque curve. The older bikes have a flat spot between 5-7k According to Suzuki's new dyno graphs they improved the midrange quite a bit. It would seem Spicy has confirmed this.
I quite like the headlight, I see alot where it looks like it's been placed on scaffolding half a mile in front of the forks and that looks bulky to me but this is nice. I remember first finding your channel when you had the pulse adrenaline, how you have come so far it's amazing to see. Still enjoying the vids keep it up spicy 👍
I still really don't like the headlight, but then most of the bikes on my want to own list are from the 80s and 90s. I think the rest of the bike looks fantastic.
I've not owned a bike now for 4 years due to going self employed and having to sell my Triumph Speed Triple to purchase a car for work. Had a 2007 GSX-R1000 about 10 years ago, absolute beast of a bike and comfy too for a sports bike. Only one thing wrong with this GSX-S1000, I WANT ONE !!!!!!
Look like the best horsepower to money ratio out there. So it's Suzuki back on form if you ask me. Hooliganism distilled. Also as someone who's 6'3" I'm glad to here it's comfortable from another tall bloke.
I like it man. Awesome looking machine. I know it’s not everyone’s cup of tea but I think it looks mean. Still got all the go and I really like the colour. Great review as always spicy 👍🏻
Am loving the look of these bikes, and all the reviews are sounding pretty positive... I can even sort of touch the ground on it too... All the while Triumph aren't making the bike I want, it is very much making me look at the competition! 🙂
I’m 5’4” and can touch the ground enough to feel secure. I had to lower my ninjasx and get a expensive lowered seat, won’t need to bother with all that on the gsx. 👍🏻
Nice review, look forward to seeing what they do with the F version. Sounds very much like you are only really using 2-4 (or 5k) max revs. With the F I had years back, if I really opened it up I could get to very very silly speeds extremely quickly - more than most bikes I'd owned (I've had about 20 of varying power/capacities). Glad to see Suzuki have updated the bike though, as it's a wonderful ride, to me it is all about that engine ! Look forward to the next test :-)
Great review, I'm getting a 21 model next April/May I have prob watched every gsxs video on her several times but yours is one I keep going back too, Nice job
Greaty review mate. I personally like the new look of this GSX. I'm 6'2, so with you being taller, that means I too should be comfortable with my back problems. Will probably trade my 06' Honda VFR800 for this bike if it fits me after I get to test it out. Always takes forever to get these new bikes into Australia, but my Suzi dealership (best I have ever dealt with by the way),has suggested that this will be priced in the 19-20K mark. Looking forward to the ride, and once again, brilliant real world test ride for all of us non-track riders. Stay safe.
The 750 is a great bike but heavy. It'd quick but not crazy fast. It's also very smooth with nice suspension and fantastic brakes . Prices are also a steal
Have this as a loan bike atm while my 660 is in the workshop . Always thought I was a tourer kinda guy .. after riding this beauty I found out I’m not !.😂. Love this bike .
Great review Spicy! I have been looking hard at the Mt09 but some things on that bike look unfinished, and the underbelly exhaust looks bloody awful! I think I am now sold on the Suzuki, every review is extremely glowing 👍
This will continue to be the absolute best performance bargain naked 1000 on the market, and it’s the most comfortable in class. Suzuki only made it better. I hope they bring back the F model.
I have the 2016 version the same color matte gray! She’s a beast after all the tuning and mods! You can get another 25hp by full exhaust, pc5, air filter, air box mod, servo eliminator, ignition commander, and a custom tune to change up the rev limiter and tons of other stuff! I also did perreli Rosso Corsa 2’s to replace the factory Dunlop’s! They hook hard and come up to temp pretty quick! Never tried the wet but it does good on gravel roads I know that much!
I have the 2016 gsxs1000s. Simply awesome. Mine has the snatchy accelerator but wouldn't change it for anything. Got lexmark headers and ixil twin pods. So looks like I might have to add the new gsxs750 to the rf900 and the gsxs-thou. Thank you for the video. 1Luv.
Spicy, in Jan 2018 I bought (new) my current bike (‘17 s1000r) after riding a ‘17 GSXS1000 and a ‘17 GSXS750. I went with the BMW because the GSXS1000 did not have the nice balanced turn in of the GSXS750 and the BMW, and it had a snatch throttle; the Suzukis had wooden feeling brakes (although similarity powerful to the BMW); and the BMW electronics suite was a lot better. Nice to hear the new GSXS1000 has the better turn in of the GSXS750, and I think the electronics suite is now on par with the 17 s1000r. The comparison of value v features is probably the same when comparing the current GSXS1000 with the current mid spec S1000R. Probably harder now to justify the higher cost of the BMW than it was in 2018. Throw Tuono, StreetFighter and Speed, and it is a good time to be looking to upgrade an already excellent bike 😎
Looked into getting a hold over of the previous version but wasn't having much luck with the dealers and getting a good deal. Picking up a 2021 mt 09 in two days instead. It was between the two for my next bike, and they were the ones most comfortable (back issues). Wanted real world power without paying a fortune. The thousand was just a little too much money for me. Preferred the looks of the previous mt 09, but the new one is so much better in ways other than looks.
I love this bike but there are no Suzuki dealers within 200 miles of me... so I went with the CB1000r, ... I really want the gsx s1000f with the fering, I do like this naked look... kind of like the old 80's transformer lol
I absolutely despise the new headlight, but I still really want one. The tail looks nice tho... I have the bike that motor came from- K5 Gixxer 1000, just got it and it's awesome but I'm in the same boat being tall with a bad back. It's technically my first street bike, and I would love to know- If I sold the GSXR and got a GSX-S 1000, would I be making a huge mistake, or the best decision of my life??? I really like the R 1000 and it's bone stock and super clean (I'll probably never find another like it, especially for what I paid), it's just stupidly fun to ride, and plain cool, but it's a superbike and comes with all the downsides like being a literal pain to ride, shorter service intervals, and it draws attention (from dudes and cops). Is the GSX-S anywhere near as fun to ride for someone like me, who will never use all the power of the R? I would like to try a few track days, but I mostly ride on back roads and would like to be able to go a bit farther, maybe some overnight trips. I sat on the 750 back when they came out and loved everything about how it felt but because I've never ridden a 750 (not a modern fuel injected 750R) I passed on it. From what I can tell, the S 1000 is pretty fast, and if I don't find it fast enough it can be made fast with a pipe and flash. I'm torn, should I trade the K5 Gixxer 1000 in for a GSX-S 1000?
The best naked litre inline four there is. I really liked the last one but this is an improvement. Does the engine pull from low revs in top gear, spicy?
Hi , I have been riding for 3 years and am currently riding a Triumph Tiger Sport 660. would this be a too bigger jump and would be better looking at the 950
It will only go as fast as you twitst your wrist, just take it easy, get used to the power and you will be fine. Don't forget this also has power modes.
Awesome, love those bikes and after riding a friends one a few years back, I was hooked, they now sound even better. Just wish I was paid more so I could buy one. Although, love my Himalayan! You need to test one!

If you tour a lot and it's long fast roads the low rev comfort of the 1000cc is a big plus but the 8R (I have also reviewed it btw) is also very capable but maybe not perfect. Honestly I think they could both do it, it is kinda down to what you want.
Cheers, really looking forward to seeing what Suzuki do with the F variant :-) This S is probably the best bang-per-buck 1000 naked. And Haselmere are without doubt the best Suzuki dealer in the UK.
I think I would like the F version too but I can't wait for one, if its even in the works. Getting one of these in Triton Blue. Lord willing when they are released in the fall in the US.
The head light is going to be a bit marmite, from the front, and I'm not sure about the camo/speckled plastic, until you did a close up I just though it was dirty.
You can tell you're in Surrey - it's all Waitrose & Volvos! Compared to KTM's insect headlight or Ducati's fishbowl, there's nowt wrong with this bike's lights. Great review, really enjoyed it & subscribed. 👍
The only thing questionable about this bike to me is the width of the handlebars for splitting lanes in tighter traffic which is easily doable on supersports...have a feeling they'll get in the way or limit the abity
@@spicy110 I am also 6 foot 3. What was your weight when you tested this bike? You said the bike had a firm feel to it? I am looking at getting this bike as an upgrade from the previous gen.
No one but you can answer that. We all love bike but in different ways. Test ride the 1000 before selling your bike. Also question why are you looking to go to a 1000? Will it be as fun on the UK roads (assuming your uk) as your 600?
Hi, don’t know if you can answer this but which bike to choose: cb1000r, GSX S1000 or MT10? And why? I have gsx s750. Nice bike but want a bit more torque. Usable for the street.
I'm not a fan of the headlight and wouldn't buy one new, however in a few years time and if the price is cheap enough, I'd happily have a second hand one.
I have the 750 19 plate nothing but problems throttle body keeps sticking thus needing cleaned constantly on a 19 plate bike. Which leads me to the question should I lube my throttle slider.
Mate, some time ago you compared the vstrom 1000 with the 650. Would you consider comparing the Z1000R with the Z900? No one seems to have done that. The Z1000 seems to have been forgotten which is s shame. I've seen 2020 models for £10400 in dealerships, which is cheap given the class it's in. I fear that it may be dropped from the line up, despite the internet suggesting it may be getting an update. Or compare the gsx s1000 to the z1000?
I really liked the old model. Very comfortable even for a shorter rider. When Chase was ranging about it in the live stream. He totally missed the point of this bike. It's not a super naked, it's a street bike, even Suzuki market it as one.
Is the gearbox the same? First gear absurdly tall and the rest insanely close together... First gear should be shorter and the rest a bit more spread out, in my opinion. (That was the issue with the previous GSX-S1000) Also, there's no excuse not to include a cruise control in a bike like this.
I always liked Suzuki's. They never let me down and always delivered.
My story with Suzuki is unfortunate but not at all the fault of Suzuki. When I started getting into bikes at 16, Suzuki was top dog in the sport bike world. I totally agree with you, I am 6ft ft 4, I’ve just bought a 2024 model in black as a second bike . The deals to be had on these are fabulous.

Cheers, really looking forward to seeing what Suzuki do with the F variant :-) This S is probably the best bang-per-buck 1000 naked. And Haselmere are without doubt the best Suzuki dealer in the UK.
Have you tried any other dealers?
me too :) Is the F version in the works at all actually ?
Ooooh yes, F version please :)
I think I would like the F version too but I can't wait for one, if its even in the works. Getting one of these in Triton Blue. Lord willing when they are released in the fall in the US.
GT? Nothingn will happen with F.
good review - what make are your gloves please? does it feel the same as its katana brother please?
What a bike for £11k! Well done Suzuki👍
I had a 2016 f. It was a great bike that did everything well. I'm looking forward to seeing if they fix the Bergmann front end. Great review.
The head light is going to be a bit marmite, from the front, and I'm not sure about the camo/speckled plastic, until you did a close up I just though it was dirty.
Is it better than the 2020 kawasaki sx 1000 ???
You can tell you're in Surrey - it's all Waitrose & Volvos! Compared to KTM's insect headlight or Ducati's fishbowl, there's nowt wrong with this bike's lights. Great review, really enjoyed it & subscribed. 👍
The only thing questionable about this bike to me is the width of the handlebars for splitting lanes in tighter traffic which is easily doable on supersports...have a feeling they'll get in the way or limit the abity
Appearance wise, it’s missing the belly cowl of the 2020. But the awesome part you can add it to complete the look.
Great video. Would you say that the suspension on this bike is firmer than the older GSXS 1000 ???
Sadly it's too long ago for me to remember that level of comparative detail.
@@spicy110 I am also 6 foot 3. What was your weight when you tested this bike? You said the bike had a firm feel to it? I am looking at getting this bike as an upgrade from the previous gen.
about 15 stone
@@spicy110 Thank you.
Nice review man, I like your camera placement. May I know what's the model of camera mounted on the bike?
Sorry mate, found it in your description
Thanks
sounds like the tech & feel of the bike are much improved, hope they update the Katana model based off this bike as well
So im selling my gsxr 600.( very nervous about letting her go!) Will I enjoy more do you think? 🙄
No one but you can answer that. We all love bike but in different ways. Test ride the 1000 before selling your bike. Also question why are you looking to go to a 1000? Will it be as fun on the UK roads (assuming your uk) as your 600?
How do you feel about the GSXS1000 vs z900?
Hi, don’t know if you can answer this but which bike to choose: cb1000r, GSX S1000 or MT10? And why? I have gsx s750. Nice bike but want a bit more torque. Usable for the street.
Great review & glad it's a proper road test & not another launch one tbh! I really like it & for the money it looks a veritable bargain!
I'm not a fan of the headlight and wouldn't buy one new, however in a few years time and if the price is cheap enough, I'd happily have a second hand one.
Do you know the MSRP on the bike? They don’t have it on Suzuki’s website.
Good to know your 6 4" and comfy l was wondering about that as I'm 6 2" nice one!! Great review by the way.
I have the 750 19 plate nothing but problems throttle body keeps sticking thus needing cleaned constantly on a 19 plate bike. Which leads me to the question should I lube my throttle slider.
Check Trump Street triple:) headlight and then will see new Sizuki GSXS-1000 is unique and beautiful 😍
How would you compare it to the MT10?
I really love it's looks but I think it's somewhat of a crime not to get it in Metallic Triton Blue :-)
Would be easy to wrap as it only have a few panels.
@@spicy110 True
I really liked the old model. Very comfortable even for a shorter rider.
When Chase was ranging about it in the live stream. He totally missed the point of this bike. It's not a super naked, it's a street bike, even Suzuki market it as one.
Could you review the 2021/22 MT09SP
отличный велосипед за свои деньги
They just announced an a2 compliant version, GSX-S950- Same engine but just retuned. The competition is dead.
Thanks, I want one now!
Great review of a great bike :-)
I daily the 2020 z900, I love it amazing low end for filtering and yet I still have plenty of power at 8k
Is the gearbox the same? First gear absurdly tall and the rest insanely close together...
First gear should be shorter and the rest a bit more spread out, in my opinion. (That was the issue with the previous GSX-S1000)
Also, there's no excuse not to include a cruise control in a bike like this.
New Gsxs1000,mt10,zh2 or cb1000. Which you prefer bro?
Excellent & honest review, thanks & Ride Safe. V
I like the headlights. It's not too over the top to be honest
